If he's a space nation, he could have the ships quite easily, assuming it's only the 3.

OOC: It is now 2350 something according to 1 day per year. None of the ships have yet to be launched according to the canon timeline. If you want to play with ST tech, use something in the timeline. Just MHO.

With your budget (Standard GDP Calc) of 1B a year you could likely spend it all on just maintenance for 1 ship. Or you could possible buy a single ship from a much larger ST nation and avoid the whole problem.

None of us has a real problem with starting nations having space ships, as long as they are reasonable space ships and you are a dedicated 'space nation'.

For ships based on your size, I would recommend a Daedalus Class, Oberth Class, Ranger Class, or (1) Constitution Class.

OOC: You can play in whatever timeline you like of course, but I like to keep track as it helps keep things straight and manageable.

Yes - don't go buying a ship from just anyone. You have to be careful with stores, as their owners are often ignored because they have stores.

I would say Miranda would be ok, and you might be able to squeeze an Excelsior. Might - but you would need to get that economy up to support it. Remember you generally pay from 5-10% of a ships cost every year in maintenance. Even on a high end ship - actually more on a high end ship.

OOC: OK Sorry to nitpick but
where did you get the year 2350 from I did not see it
in starfleet's post shouldn't be 2379-80 as TNG started in 1987
Year 1 TNG OCT 2363 - DEC 2364 Trek Timeline IIRC
I know shame on me for knowing that

The United Socialist States of Xanthal propose an alliance with the nation of -Starfleet-. We have a massive space force, and could provide valuable supplementary protection for your nation in exchange for use of your space for our spacecraft, rights to study and replicate your technology, and your promise of non-aggression.
20-10-2003, 17:42
we agree to this, we are a peaceful nation
Xanthal
20-10-2003, 17:44
Excellent. We promise not to use your technology against you, we simply try to study the tech. of as many nations as possible in order to improve our own.
20-10-2003, 17:45
if you wish we can send you detailed readouts on our tech
Xanthal
20-10-2003, 17:47
That would be supurb. In exchange, we will provide our new ally Starfleet with our very own Electronic Intelligence technology.

Oh, come on, it was just a dig at your whole hearted lack of RP. No need to be so uptight. I mean...

"I want to make an alliance."
"OK."

Doesn't get the juices flowing, drama wise, does it?

Unless of course, you're going for the authentic Star Trek feel, i.e. less excitement than watching yeast ferment. At least you get alcohol from that...

OOC: The original USS Defiant (Well, Star Trek original) was a Constitution Class, as mentioned. No date mentioned, but a quick search on the Star Trek Ships database does confirm this.

That is someone with too much time on their hands... Useful for the rest of us though.
