Menelmacar to withdraw from the WorldDisc

Menelmacar

Given the Sketchen attack on the Angelan WorldDisc last month, which resulted in the death of three million Menelmacari, we no longer feel it to be a secure venue for our colonists. Therefore we have put out an advisory to our citizens recommending they evacuate. Early signs suggest the vast majority of them intend to comply.

Because if so, I'm sure Celeborne could help, and we would of course be more than happy to offer escort vessels.

Liverpool England Aid and Evacuation/Rescue team (LEAER) has offered its services. We expect this to be a major evacuation. King Dave Goh (for those of you who still remember when he was President, he was officially made King when Liverpool England adopted the name Empire) will personally fly in to view this process.

Where are we going to put the Menelmacari then?... why is everyone looking at the big empty part of my island.

The desert is now... um... a wilderness preserve! Yes, that's it.

Nope, no room here. Perhaps after I conquer Bandonia I'll have room.

Rath listens calmly to the news, aboard the flagship of the Kabal's fleet, Blade's Kiss. His gauntleted hand clenches the arm of his seat. A flick of a finger and a slight nod bring up the communications gear.

Speaking in the nigh-indecipherable ancient language that forms the common root of Quenyan and modern Eldari, he addresses Sirithil personally.

"Sirithil nos Feanor. I resent you for the part you have played in the downfall of the Kabal of the Fist of Death. Inevitable as it was, Mieka's death shattered the only stability my people have known in ten millenia. We were growing as weak as the Craftworld fools. Still... you are Kin, and your children are Kin, though backwater and provincial. The fools of the Craftworld will surely offer you aid."

"I will not. I offer you only the knowledge that your treachery failed. I am a knife in the dark, a garrote in a dim alley. My fleet is the blade upon which is etched the tale of your fall. Sleep lightly, Sirithil Kinslayer."

We are saddened to hear of the deaths of three million Menelmacari people. Our condolences go out to their fammily's.
I but hope the survivers will live out their lives happy and without trouble from now on.
I know that Menelmacar posseses over enough ships with capacity to succesfully evacuate the remaining Menelmacari. But we still wish to assist you in any way possible.

"No, I think I've got it."

As you are no doubt aware, M'lady, we are the conquerers of the land of Rohan. We were hoping to learn of our ancestors and open trade with the natives.

Our expectations have proven wrong, however. No trace of the culture of the Rohirrim exists there. And the natives were either servants of Lord Sauron, or followers of Saruman.

We are beginning to pull out. We were wondering if you would like to purchase the land?

Or, failing that, we offer it as a gift to you, Most Glorious One.[/code:1:512f681b9c]

My Lady Sirithil, I understand completely your concern. Our people suffered losses as well in the cowardly attack, though for now, we are choosing to stay. As an ally, and one who wishes you and yours well, despite my sometimes challenging debates, I would offer our services to you in this capacity.

Currently, I have in the direct vicinity my entire fleet, which I put at your disposal. All are Angelic tech, and I can assure you of their ability to keep your people safe on their journey to whichever destinations you intend for them.

I shall await answer at your convenience. Best wishes, and may this effort proceed smoothly, whichever course you take.

Sirithil receives Rath's message with some bemusement. "Does he think Mieka is dead?" she asks.

Serendis smirks. "He probably thinks you ate her soul," she says. "He has no way of knowing Mieka is alive. And I do not recommend informing him, either. Interesting he calls us backwater and provincial, the barbarian," adds the Prefect.

Siri shrugs. "His opinion is of no concern to me. Kin they are by blood, but they have long ago turned their back on our ways. Do not even bother sweeping the sector for the Blade's Kiss - while he must have been in realspace to send his message, he has surely returned to the Webway even by now. We will have our chance to deal with Rath of Manmen. We always get our chance."

Serendis nods. "And what to do about Roania?"

"We will take their gift of land; I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Interesting they managed to take hold of Rohan, yet not find the Rohirrim. And it would give us the means to recover the ruins of Orthanc."

"A wise move, milady. And on the ships?"

"We will accept the aid of ships. We could do this on our own, but even our vast merchant marine would be strained trying to move two hundred million with any degree of speed."

We graciously accept your offers of aid in this matter. As it is indeed an evacuation, we seek to move the people as soon as possible. While there will be migrants from the Disc to just about every other colony we have, we will arrange for them to be divided by destination at the departure point, so that no vessel need make more than one stop. Such a mass migration will be a difficult process. We'd like to offer our assistance. The remains of the Ark fleet should prove adequate for the purpose, since those ships were expressly designed to accomodate large numbers of living beings, and though the largest among them are gone, the majority of the fleet is still in service. I'm afraid the accomodations may prove a bit uncomfortable for sentients -- these are not exactly interstellar luxury liners -- but for a single trip, the Spartan conditions should be bearable.

Message to Menelmacar
Excellent. We shall send our ships emediatly.
There will be five transports able to carry 250,000 thousand people.
Unfortunatly four of the vessels would take a day before arriving while one can be there within a few hours.

Since there is no haste in the evacuation, as there is now no clear threat, we offer our transport services to also transport the possesions of your citizens that are being evacuated. With your permission off course.

Greetings, leader of Menelmacar,

I am Talus Karn, the Prime Minister of Ancient Terra. I have contacted you at length after recieving news of this message. Although neither the Ancient Terran nor the Neo Garner merchant marine is capable of assisting in this matter of transportation, we wish you the greatest luck on your journey, and your people godspeed.

Emperor El' Jonson has indicated his wish to provide you with a quite substantial amount of funds, so as not to overtax the budget of your merchant marine. Several billion Terran Credits are available should you require them.

Once again, I and the nation of Ancient Terra wish you a safe journey, wherever your final home lies.

Our nation moved from Africa and Earthspace over a period of several years, long ago. We later engaged in the construction of a large number of moblie habiats for Abu-Dhabi Krishtatata, long before that nation entered its aggressive phase.

We would be able to provide terraformed space on the Ring, and the industrial capability to make living there comfortable. Vulcan Station has ample materials stockpiles and can immediately begin the construction of rover colonies.

Summary of Reports

The current generation of large mobile colony has an internal surface area of 120km^2 inside a rotating cylindrical hull, with a drive section aft and an industrial/port section forward. There is typically an minimum spacing of 40 meters between the primary hull and the internal surface, allowing for large undersurface habitats if hydroponic farming capacity is also provided.

Drive is typically fusion - the TCPS has access to several reactionless technologies but it is felt that there are advantages to the fusion drive.

Cost is typically high, but the per-capita cost of later generations is lower than earlier marks.

Destination: Menelmacar Colonial leaders

Body:

L.S.

We have received your requests for extraction from the Worlddisc. To this purpose, we have dedicated five old Imperator Class Carriers to extract a portion of your population. These carriers were military vessels before the Chimera fleets came into existence, and are now serving as civilian vessels for logistical operations. The main reason for this is that they were part of a new series of vessels, substantially larger than the old Imperators.
http://well-of-souls.com/homeworld/hws/concept/t_tcarrier.gif
We request that you contact the proper authorities to make sure our vessels have clearance to dock with the Worlddisc. Each Carrier is able to carry 50.000 colonists, and the flotilla can arrive in less than a day. Each carrier can also carry the personal belongings of your colonists. However, there is a second option. If the colonists agree to enter cryogenic sleep, we can take 75.000 colonists per carrier, if this suits you better. Please let us know what your decision is.

One would also think that a leader would have at least enough sense to keep a civil tongue around their betters. I would advise you to rethink your comments to my ally, Chancellor. For though the elves have been known on occasion to be forgiving in nature, I have not.

The last time I checked, it was not weak to recieve assistance in friendly matters such as this. In looking back, assistance was never requested, but graciously accepted as it was offered. I'm quite certain Lady Sirithil has the capabilities to take care of her own. It shows great trust on her part to willingly allow her people to be transported by others, and I can see nothing but good and improved relations between nations on account.

Just goes to show that not all leaders are competent enough to recognize the delicate balances, compromises and details that often must go into the running of a nation. I can only hope that you take the time to educate yourself in a more comprehensive manner.

Lady Sirithil, we stand ready to assist. With the jump tech available, multiple trips should not be a problem, though I am glad to see such a generous outpouring of support for your efforts. The move should not take long, I imagine.

The numbers we are able to safely transport are a total of 18,650 at a time. True, not the vast numbers that some might have, but it will be a fairly short trip in comparison.

At your convenience, and with coordinates for delivery, we shall commence operations. Your direct contact will be Admiral Devon Talethian, Minster of Defense and Fleet High Command. May this operation progress smoothly and efficiently.

Your lecture is as unnecessary as it is unwelcome. I am fully aware of the delicate intricacies of nation management. However, the Lady Sirithil I have noted in the past seems to carry herself off in a rather superior and egotistical manner in her dealings with the 'lesser' nations like myself, my statement could be seen as nothing more than a colourful retort. Wisdom in his words? Is he serious? And he has the gaul to call her egotistical after that spiel of his? Gracious ...

Taking a slow sip of water, she shakes her head, shoulders still shaking with mirth.

All the same, I really hope I don't have to talk her down from gravshipping someone else over poorly thought out commentary ...

She went back to her daily dealings, going over the news and documents that had been steadily piling on her desk, grinning broadly all the while for no reason in particular.

We looked for it, we truly did but we could see no wisdom in your words, and the manner with which you address both Ladies is most, upsetting, you see we fear you miss the subtle nuances of International affairs, in short you seem unable to be polite.

Ah yes aid was offered in what would be a major undertaking and was accepted this neither shows what you claim or gives you the right to say what you have said. Then these claims as to the manner in which the lady carries herself to younger nations, why these are patently false she does treat young fools with the disdain they earn for themselves, as she treats young nations that show great wisdom with the respect they earn for themselves, the lady carries this up and through the political spectrum treating the old yet still foolish with disdain and those that earn it with respect.

You get out of Politics what you put into it, based on what you have shown so far, one can only assume that you are bitter for she treats you with the disdain you have earnt from us this day.'

'Her' definition of wisdom? I suppose it depends on how it is observed, for example any nation with a system that is completely and geopolitically opposite to her would be deemed 'unwise', no matter how nice they actually were.
Subtle nuances? Perhaps if subtlety was discarded then so much misinterpretation would be avoided and international politics and affairs would proceed alot more efficiently.
Myself Bitter? Nay, I am actually overjoyed to finally match wits with a puppet camp who blindly follow a 'dressed-up' dictator.

Threats from us, oh you so misunderstand the council... we are merely warning you that those who watch not their words and practice a small gift called Diplomacy... may upset the wrong people. We don't make war over words, we make war over deeds...

Others are far from as forgiving, however if it is a threat you want how about this, Diplomacy not only works in preventing war... but makes you friends, friends who will defend you against aggresion... Your method isolates you from those around you Mon-Keigh.

Oh and as a final lesson I understand that you cannot speak our language so I'll help you out, it is impossible for an Eldar to be Mon-Keigh, since Mon-Keigh means 'not Eldar.' In it's most basic form, other meanings are added as you pronouce the word and in it's context used. Chancellor Mangan, elven superiority is rather obvious, and I am amazed that one who cannot tell this fact has risen to control of a nation, epecially one that considers itself 'utterly wise'. I believe in your case, we can replace the common phrase of cream rising to the top with some reference to the purification of iorn, humm?

Yes, Elves are a superior species to humans. Elven eyesight is better, and hearing, and most of their other senses as well. Elves tend to be able to run faster than humans, and posess faster reflexes. This doesn't even mention the fact that they do not suffer the same deterioration due to age that humans do. Thus by objective analysis they are a superior species.

I am also surprised that you lack the reasoning skills to interpret the Farseer Council's words accurately. It seems equally obvious that they consider you inferior to Lady Sirithil because of your petulant behaviour and efforts to score cheap rehtorical points, not due to physical inferiority.

I also feel obliged to tell you, for your own benefit, if the Council wished to do you violence, they would do it, not merely imply it.

I did not mean in any physical context, I meant mental power. In my view and experience, the Elves can be just as foolish as any Man.

No, it seemed through your wording that you were threatening 'little Mon-keigh' such as myself. This merely proved my point that wording can be interpreted in so many ways, subtlety merely adds to the confusion. Say what you mean in more clearer terms in future dealings with us.

I would argue against the 'superior' bit myself, though I would like to point out to the honorable Cathal Ó Séagdha of Milesia that the flurry of insults was begun by the Chancellor of Manganland, not by us.

I make no apology for my stance, and insist that the words of Mr. Mangan were ill-thought and poorly chosen, not to mention, clearly intended as a sleight and provocation. A time of change and offers for aid is not the time for petty leaders to spew their personal hatreds, nor project whatever sense of inadequacy they have on account on the rest of us.

Throughout my dealings with the Lady Sirithil, we have had our differences, and I do not forsee that changing. However, I will not sit idly by and have my allies, whatever their flaws may or may not be in my opinion, insulted by some small-minded man who hasn't the sense to leave alone what is none of his business.

I would suggest that the leadership of Milesia step back from this obvious pose of needless agression, and leave off with the threats.

As for Tor Yvresse, my dears, I'm afraid your approach, though well-meaning was perhaps a bit ... difficult for some to swallow. Though I recognized it for what it was, one must always be mindful of the masses out there who but long for an excuse to respond to the slightest veiled insult with an attack. Thus have we seen.

I care not whether I am viewed with disdain by some. I have offered in good faith to assist, and so assist I shall. Be assured that any meddling or interference with this opperation against my forces will be met with extreme predjudice. That being clarified, I bid you gentlemen good day.

I would like to point out to the honorable Cathal Ó Séagdha of Milesia that the flurry of insults was begun by the Chancellor of Manganland, not by us.

Note to Nathicana; We made an observation, not an insult. It was you who started the argument. No more from me on this matter.

One would think that such a mighty global power like Menelmacar would not need any help. Just goes to show that these Elves are not as godlike as they seem to carry themselves off like.

If you do not call this an insult, I suggest you go back and learn better manners. If your reasoning holds, my response is also simple observation, which I see you prefer to reserve the rights to for yourself. Enough said.

We will support the Menelmacari in this affair. Our people is mourning the deaths of so many fair elves. We are building a civilian fleet of transport to help with the evacuation. If you need anything just call.

The Roanian civilians have begun pulling out, save for a few guards. A legion is left behind to scour the area for any surviving dunlendings, and kill them so that Siri doesn't have to trouble herself with such rubbish.

As the LEAER arrives at the WorldDisc, its leader, Col-Gen Jonas Smith Warren, wonders how exactly this should be done. "Private, get a damn transmission out to Mel. We'll need instructions on this......"

While the Empire of Treznor has limited resources in the sector, we are willing to pledge four of the five transports purchased from Scolopendra to assist with the evacuation. The trip will be slower than others with more sophisticated technology, but with some small technical assistance in firming up life support systems, we believe that the Centipede-class haulers should be able to handle approximately 5,000 refugees per trip, translating to 20,000 souls per month.

We stand ready to assist.

The Empire also confirms our stance with the Dominion of the Dread Lady Nathicana against the provocative and inflammatory comments by the Chancellor Alexander Mangan. Regardless of what you think of Elves in general, the security of innocents is hardly a matter for ridicule. My ally has made no threats of aggression or retaliation, merely a suggestion that you keep unhelpful comments to yourself. Say what you will about Menelmacar and Elves in general, but do not think to earn yourself any points by badmouthing peaceful support and goodwill.
