Haaregradian aircraft carriers started out as a development of heavy anti-air cruisers in the 1930s. At this point it was obvious air power was here to stay, however the King of Haaregradia refused to purchase any carriers. Instead many "heavy anti-air cruisers" were built. Finally in 1943 the King gave orders to allow two "Indefeatable" class cruisers to be modified into aircraft carriers, armed with Seafire Mk. IX fighters and retaining most of the original armaments.

This continued on after the war for many years. After the revolution the new military leaders continued this tradition of very heavily armed and armored carriers, able to take on other surface ships without resorting to using their aircraft.

However, as the power of their air arms has increased the carriers have dropped slightly in their weaponry nowadays they're armed more like a light anti-air/anti-surface cruiser then like a battlecruiser of yore.

The trend of heavily armed carriers shows itself most in the Marx class dreadnought, a combination carrier and battleship often called the most powerful ship on earth.

-> That details my Marine Corp, I'll do another one maybe tommorow that details My navy (space), and then one that details tactics. However, the basic idea is like modern military strategy. Mass bombardment using 'Ortillery' and space/earth launched cruise missles, etc. to beat the enemy into submission, then bring in the troops. Our main goal however is to get air control. Once you have control of the air, you control the pace of the war.

The modern Omzian Armed Forces, composed of Omzian National Guard (Ground, Air National Guard, Coast Guards) Reserve, Omzian People's Liberation Forces (Ground, Air, Sea, Marine Corps), Omzian People's Militia, and Omzian Special Operation Units. But we'll go with the PLF for now.

People's Liberation Army --- Fight for revolution.
The PLA, is started in 1953, when the Omzian socialist rebel forces started a force to combat the new military-controlled Omzian Armed Republic. The PLA is small --- but it is noted that it is highly advanced.
The PLA has 880,000 personnel, with 7800 MBTs, 9000+ IFV/ICV/APC, 2500 Attack Helicopters, 2200 Utility helicopters and various other advanced armored vehicles. The PLA also operate 500+ ground cruise missile launchers, and 2200+ large air defence units (about 500 batteries).

People's Liberation Air Force --- Peace is our profession
The Omzian Air Force can be dated abck to 1898 --- when the Omzian Imperial War Offices commerced the construction of 4 military balloons for observation. Later, in 1918, the Omzian Army Air Corps is officially formed --- handling military aircraft. Over the years, the Omzian Air Force has operated various aircraft from the P-61 Black Widow to the B-17 Flying Fortress, to the MiG-21 Fishbed and B-52 Stratofortress (still active today, under the name B-52I). Omzian Air Force is famous within the region for its great efficency at commercing air superiority operations, and its highly advanced technologies, logically planned structure, and superb training.
The Omzian PLAF has 430,000 personnel, with about 3900 combat aeroplanes, 1400 trainers, and 200 transports.

People's Liberation Navy --- Never cross the fire.
The Omzian Navy can be dated back to 180 A.D., when the ancient Omzian Empires formed a group of ships to bombard enemy coast. Today, the highly advanced --- but small --- Omzian Navy operates a wide variety of equipments. The PLN has been noted that it has an extensive combat experience and record.
The Omzian PLN has 510,000 personnel. There are about 200 warships, 55 submarines, 200 logistics and transport vessels, 30 large amphibious vessels, and over 1800 aircraft.
People's Liberation Navy --- Marine Corps --- Storm, storm, for the revolution.
The Omzian PLN-MC can be dated back to 1942, when the Omzian free Republic drafted a small naval landing force, the Army Marine Corps. The highlt advanced PLNMC today has one of the best trainings in the Omzian Armed forces.
The Omzian PLNMC has 125,000 personnel, with 700 aircraft and over 1200 armored vehicles.

Basically, in my theory, control of above results in gradual control of everything else. With me, I get space first, and use laser systems, railguns, to clear out any air and naval forces. Once that is established, use high-velocity munitions to wipe out the "brain", "spine" and "muscle" of enemy forces, ie ground concetrations, C3, airfields, and supply. After that, use shock and confusion with dummy "scatter" munitions and debris to shield blitzkreig style air assaults on enemy positions, to secure landing areas for larger amounts of troops.

That's for invaisions and offensive actions.

Cucolo Army
Regulars - Conscripted or enlisted servicemen
Duke's Own Guard - Duke's personal bodyguard. They also handle intenral affairs.
Elite Special Forces - Special forces of the Cucolo military. They handle external matters mostly.

Cucolo Navy
Combat Ready - Fleets assigned for foreign or local defense.
Coast Guard Units - Smaller, less equipped units that protect the coast.

Cucolo Air Force
Basic Air Force, divided into fighter, bomber, and combined units.

Omzian Special Forces

Our Special Forces, Omzian National Guard Special Operations Division, has about 6,200 personels in total, here is a breakdown:

-- Omzian Army Special Operations Team (OA-SOT1): 3900: Expertised at both basic Jungle and Urban warfare, with the learning of the using of stealth. Are able to use foreign infantry equipments of nearly all types, and can operate light artillery pieces or light SAM launchers. All are able to be inserted from Air (paradrop), Sea (Guided Missile Submarines, Submerisibles [sp.]), or Land. Some are also expertised at sharpshooting, demolition, infiltration, evacuation, and medical matters. All receive counter-terrorism training.

-- Omzian Navy Special Insertation Team (ON-SIT2): 1500: Expertised at infiltration, the use of stealth, and jungle warfare. Are able to use many foreign light infantry equipments. All expertised at diving, deep ocean swimming, and medical evacuation. All are capable of demolition and infiltration missions. All are capable of being inserted from Submerisibles (sp.) or Guided Missile Submarines [Offtopic: the USA's Ohio SSGNs can insert SEALs].

-- Omzian Air Force Expertised Operations Team (OAA-EET3): 800: These have a special role. They can operate a range of special operation helicopters, including Pave Low III helicopters. Some of them can also operate U-3 Spy Planes, E-8 JSTARS, and other surveillance and recon planes. Some also operate the 2 squadrons of the C-1B Knight SOF Inseration aircrafts, which are modified B-1Bs to carry Special paradrop forces.
Forces in the OAA-EET3 also include medical evacuation crews, special weapons operators, and special paratroopers.

Omzian National Guard

Omzian National Army Guard --- The basic ground unit of the Omzian national guard. The National Guard is a reserve unit prepared for any invasion of Omzian Nation.
Omzian National Army Guard has about 1.8 million personne, operating over 3000 armored vehicles.

Omzian National Air Guard --- The air unit of the Omzian national guard. These units are also acting in defence if Omzian Nation is attacked.
Omzian National Air Guard operates over 900 light combat aircraft.

Omzian Coast Guards --- This is a conjuction between Omzian naval reserves and cost guard. The Omzian coast guard primarily operates offshore, within Omzian waters.
Omzian coast guard operates over 300 missile crafts, 10 destroyers and 35 frigates, and 20 diesel submarines.

Omzian People's Militia

Omzian People's Militia is a new unit --- composed of citizen soldiers drafted under the Compulsary military services program. The People's Militia consists of 5.2 million personnel, primarily army and coast guard forces.

The Sigma Octavus military works in several ways. The first and foremost is the use of highly specialized troops to do all the work. The SOET do most military matters that we are involved with. The second is to stand back and bombard targets with artillery, naval and aircraft firepower. This is effective when the enemy is entrenched and would inflict high casualties. The third is only used as a last resort. If the enemy has used gas or other weapons like this, the military hits all targets, civilian and military with total war ideaology. We go for hospitols, food, and anything else that will demoralize the troops and civilians. This has only happened once, and is used very sparingly due to many nations outlook on this tactic.

The divisions of the armed forces are as follows. SOET (special forces) Gekidoku (elite special forces) ADST (air dropped troops) SOMI (standard infantry) SOA (armor) SOAF (airforce) SON (navy) SOSU (support and MASH units)

Its an unofficial change, meaning that its usually used by Marines in the field, ala 'Rules of Engagement'. :lol:

Origionally, Wazzu defensive strategy was simple. It was posessed of two ideas.

1: Let any nation who wanted to attack invade with little effort...and defeat them with guerilla warfare in (then) cities and wilderness.

2: Posess a means to strike back hard without invading (which included some of the NationStates first operational ortillary, before it was known as ortillary, as well as special forces, hypersonic fighter-bombers, and less conventional (still secret) means of attack).

Wazzu was quite a bit smaller then, with fewer capibilities, fewer resources, and fewer areas to protect. It was also landlocked. So the decision not to have a conventional air force or navy was both realistic and cost saving.

Since then, Wazzu has colonized Luna, Mars, and Venus, and gained a protectorate state in the Caribbean...it has also grown and matured into a lesser recognized world power. As such, its philosophy has changed, but it is still largely pased on the origional two ideas.

Current Wazzu defense philosophy is quite complex, but there are a number of factors that remain the same.

1: Purpose. Wazzu sees little need for a huge fleet of giant starships. It can't hope to and has no reason to combat nations capible of building such ships (like the Titan nations) Though this is changing as Wazzu becomes one of those nations (see MIDAS-II talks), it is likely to always hold some truth. So instead Wazzu concentrates on building enough to defend assets from piracy and the large numby of tiny nations building cardboard starfleets.

2: Quality and quantity. In space, Wazzu prefers quality. While some ships, those more produced, are meant to target the common cardboard space navy, the main ships are increadibly expensive and increadibly well built. There are as yet no combat ships over 250 meters in the Wazzu Space Forces, and very few ships overall. Even the current fighters cost about US $10 billion a peice, and are thus limited in number but excelent in capibility.

On the ground, Wazzu prefers to seperate quantity and quality into three classes. The first are dedicated soldiers made up of approximately 1% of the Wazzu population on 20 year enlistment or officer terms. These career individuals are responsible for command, training, and a few for special forces combat. The second are literally "part-time" soldiers...much like "reserves" in other nations except that they go to work "part-time" every week. They also make up about 1% of the population (are likely to be reduced to 0.5%) and constitute mostly professional soldiers on 20 year terms...they are called upon in times of war to act as the front line troops. The quality end is a 2.5 year manditory enlistment. This includes 6 months of military training for all citizens (to serve as a militia in times of emergency), and 2 months on-the-job technical training, which prepares them for work in the real world and gives them a technical education.

3: Information. Everyone needs it, Wazzu has its own unique ways about getting it. Classified.

4: Little need for invasion. Wazzu does not have the means to instantly teleport 1-100 million troops as so many other nations seem to. It is developing a new and low-cost ability to move soldiers to invade or defend other nations, but it will never be able to invade a like-sized nation unilaterally...just as it ensures no other like-sized nation could be sucessfull in invading it unilaterally. It is a tradeoff. Greater defense for less offense. There is simply no need to take another nation by force, nor is it often done in NS.

5: Tactical over Brute Force. Wazzu military planners fancy themselves as the carefully placed scalpel rather then the mightilly swung scimitar. There are few "superweapons" to be found in Wazzu. Instead of super-strong all-purpose weapons, there are many weapons built for specific purposes, and used with ingenuity.

6: Lastly, cost to benifit is important. Example: there are only three basic chasis for armored vehicles, yet over 10 varieties of them. When parts can be shared, fewer types of parts need to be made, and there is a costs savings. There are many other such ways to save money. Remember, Wazzu was made by and is controlled by corporations. Profit is important. Loss of profit to unneeded military spending is avoided.

The standard Omzian Army infantry is fitted with the following:

--Konaran II Armor --- vastly improved version of the Kevlar and helmet armor, the Konaran II bulletproof vest is made of special materials with a composite "plate", to shield the soldier from most small 5.56mm bullets (NOT machine gun bullets). The helmet features stronger materials to withstand both the explosive and kinetic power from the bullets.

--Sankon Infantry Automated System --- a suite of a variety of devices for the standard infantry. Also light weight. Features communcation gears, mini computers, and other optical instruments.

--O-18E Assualt Rifle --- A modern assualt rifle which fires the 5.56mm NATO ammunition. The assualt rifle is highly robust, reliable, and lightweight. Various gadgets can also be attacked, including a scope with FLIR or nightvision sight, laser designator, grenade launcher, bayonet, or even a Swiss knife and compass.

--Garbon Pistol --- A good, normal pistol. Fires the .45 ACP round. Can be fitted with a laser pointer and a scope.

There are seven classes of forces in Tiburon:

Tiburon National Army: The basic main army of Tiburon. The TNA includes mass-produced Mobile Suit forces, although they are under their own divisions.
