OOC: Part I of a serries of posts to detail my military. All parts will come over time, and in the end it will all be bundled into one thread.

The Imitora Colonial Marine Corps

Basic Training
Imitora Colonial Marine Corp basic training is on par with the U.S. Army Rangers. After near a year’s worth of intense physical familiarization with multiple foreign and domestic weapons, and tactical training, another year's worth of environmental training takes place: 4 months mountainous, 4 desert, and 4 of mixed urban/jungle combat. This entire time, they are in what is known as the HERCULES program, where not only do they get the standard training, they get it all in the MJOLNIR BaseMod I combat suit. After one month of physical training akin to that of the United States Marine Corp, basic training begins. The drop out rate is zero percent, as recruits are not allowed to drop out, and are forced to continue training. However, if psychological problems arise, matters are taken in order to assure the mental and physical safety of all the recruits.

Equipment and Weapons
The suit is impervious to 5.56mm fire at all ranges, and 7.62mm fire at anything over 70 yards. Suit contains standard re-breathers for NBC environments, climate control, and a multi view facemask that allows the wearer to utilize night vision, FLIR style viewing, and heat registered viewing. The suit also utilizes micro fiber electron muscling system that allows a single user to flip over anything under 15 tons, and two or three for everything over. Suits also provide vital stats of the wearer to his home ship.

The MJOLNIR Base Mod II, which is utilized by all those who complete the SPARTAN II program, (which is a continuation of the earlier basic training, and consumes another three years of a Marine's term), is a permanently worn version of the armor. It contains a gel crystalline layer that increases (or decreases, depending on how you define response time) response time by up to a full second. It is also capable of supporting star ship grade AI. A slightly stronger armor is used, and those wearing the MJOLNIR BaseMod II armor (which is required for all Platoon leaders) is resistant to the 7.62m round out to 50 yards. New micro fiber muscles allow the wearer to manipulate things up to 100 plus tons (metric). The only noticeable difference between the BaseMod I and BaseMod II visibly is the presence of rank bars on the BaseMod I, and the BaseMod II is a slightly darker green.

The SPARTAN III program is currently in debate in the senate, and if passed will allow for the creation of 'super soldiers', where people genetically modified from birth to act as the next step of warrior. Of course, the SPARTAN III program graduates will be randomly selected (every 400 births from all private hospitals, every 100 from the public hospitals), and will wear the new MJOLNIR BaseMod III armor, which will be resistant to 7.62mm rounds at out from 20 yards. It will also feature the use of GhostSkin, a heavily modified version of SmartSkin. It also features a new Gel Crystalline layer which can support more powerful AI systems, and a direct ship to suit communication system.

All MJOLNIR suits are designed with a refractive coating to disperse energy weapons. All are also equipped with a form of communication equipment, getting better as the BaseMod level progresses. All suits also have a GPS tracking system mounted to allow each Marine to see where other Marines are and have reduced blue on blue to a near non-existent level. All suits have a Comfort Climate Control (CCC) system, internal drinking water reservoir, and other amenities to keep Marines battle ready. Standard load outs consist of the main weapon, side arm, four magazines for each, three of each available grenade, medikit, two days worth of MREs, and an emergency radio.

The standard weapon is the M5AB, which fires an 'Explosive' 7.62mm HV Match round from a 60 round detachable magazine held in the bullpup designed stock. A permanent mounted scope displays an electronic compass, rounds left in magazine, and a light motion tracker. The rifle can also fire 7.62mm Match JHPs or light incendiary 7.62mm rounds, which is common for the Phoenix group to use.

The standard side arm is the M6D, which fires from a 12 round magazine, and is chambered for the 12.7mm semi armor piercing, high explosive rounds. A mounted digital style camera remote linked to the suit allows accurate firing with viewing through a 2x zoom scope. With special modifications, the pistol can be made to fire in a full automatic mode akin to a small submachine gun, however, this decreases accuracy due to excessive recoil despite the built in compensator, and is usually only done by the Imitora Secret Service.

For CQB operations, its common to find Marines armed with the M7 PCQCW, or Personal Close Quarters Combat Weapon. It fires a 5.7mm High Velocity Copper Round. It fires from a 100 round detachable box in the stock of the weapon, and features a fold down front grip. The barrel is threaded to allow for attachment of a silencer, and a reflex or red-dot sight can be fitted, although it is common to use the iron sights. It can fire in single shot, three round burst, or full automatic mode. It is accurate, and a favorite for use among the Imitora Division on Federal Crime (Imitoran Version of the FBI) and other law enforcement units.

Also in use by the Imitora Colonial Marines is the M90 shotgun. Chambered for a 8 gauge magnum (3.5”) tungsten penetrating round, the weapon is the ultimate close quarters weapon. It has a dual tubular magazine setup, allowing for the carrying of 16 rounds of ammunition. This also allows for the carrying of two different types of ammunition, and quick reloading. An Ultra Bright White SureFire combat flashlight is mounted under the barrel on the pump, as studies show that an enemy who cant see cant aim.

For use around the base, be it a forward operating command post or the Imitora Colonial Marine Headquarters in Casow City, Imitora, the M5AA Battle Rifle comes into play. Firing the same round as the M5AB rifle, but from a 20 round instead of 60 round magazine, the M5AA fires only in single shot (semi automatic) mode, and uses a free floating barrel to increase accuracy, and a 4x zoom reflex style scope. The weapon is also most utilized by the non-covert units of the Imitora Secret Service, due to its intense stopping power and accuracy. All Colonial Marines learn to shot with one of these rifles, and the M5AA becomes a Colonial Marine’s best friend until they are issued a M5AB.

All Colonial Marines pride themselves on being excellent shots, but some are better than most. Snipers are trained in the use of the S2 AM Sniper Rifle. The rifle fires one of three distinct rounds: A standard ball round, a specialized HE incendiary round, and a Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot Round. All rounds are chambered in 14.5x114mm, and are effective at over a mile away. The mounted video scope can clearly identify targets at over a mile range, and automatically adjusts for windage and elevation.

For light anti air and support against medium armored units, the M19 SSM is employed. The M19 SSM is a man-portable; shoulder fired dual barreled rocket launchers. The two-piece unit can be dismantled and stored separately for ease of transportation. The rockets fired are 102mm shaped charge rounds, perfect for light armor and helicopter/Hoverdyne protection.

The M41 LAAG is the standard mounted weapon of the ICMC. It is a tri-barreled .50 caliber weapon, capable of firing a sustained 600 rounds per minute. The 12.7x99mm rounds fired can be standard ball, explosive, incendiary, or armor piercing rounds. Commonly, all three are fitted in order to a belt of ammunition, with the fourth round in the line up of the belt being a tracer. Although designed mainly as an anti-aircraft gun, the M41 is also wonderful to use against troops and other light armor.

There are 2 grenades in service with the ICMC, the M9 and M1000. The M9 is a standard High Explosive Dual Purpose, or HEDP, fragmentation grenade. The grenade has an explosive deadly range of 4 meters, with fragmentation deadly out to 20 meters. The M1000 is based on new plasma technology, and is anti-infantry contained blast plasma explosive. Upon detonation, the grenade latterly disintegrates everything with in a 10-15 meter radius, depending on external variables. The Imitoran Military Research Division is currently working on controlled plasma weapons such as pistols and rifles.

Vehicles

Movement on the battlefield is important, and the Imitora Colonial Marines have several units that assist them in their movements.

The M12 LRV is the standard light troop transport and recon vehicle. Capable of carrying 4 Marines, with one on a mounted M41 LAG, the Warthog, as it is known, is one of the mist versatile vehicles in the Colonial Marine Corp. With slight modifications, all of which can be done in the field, it can be made to operate in almost all environments. Powered by a 550 HP Ford MilTech PowerForce V10 diesel engine, it is capable of getting up to 60 MPH in less than 7 seconds. It features all wheel steering and InteliDrive automatic four-wheel drive.

The M808B (Ra) and M808B (Ga) are the two MBTs of the Imitora Colonial Marine Corps. The Ra version mounts a 125mm smooth bore rail cannon. The cannon fires the round, either a solid tungsten carbide round or a fin stabilized sabot round at speeds of over 10km per second. The Ga version mounts a 120mm gauss gun, capable of firing a 120mm round at speeds near 7km per second. Both models mount a coaxial 7.62mm mini-gun and a 12.7mm AP-T (Armor Piercing-Tracer). It mounts the locally made Rapier defense system, a locally produced version of the Grapeshot defense system. Each tank has a crew of three: commander (gunner), driver, and loader. The commander aims the gun, and actually fires it, and sits low in the turret. He is surrounded by a full immersion display screen that allows him to see the world as if he was not in the tank. The loader sits above and behind him, lined up directly on the gun. His main job is to make sure the auto loader works properly with no malfunctions. The driver sits in front of the turret, and uses a dual joystick set up to maneuver the tank. Research is being done, however, to see if it is possible to link up to the tank with a drop ship or home ship to remote pilot the tank.
