The New Girl

Her boots clicked against the pavement as she walked through the park. The icy air chilled her porcelain skin, and the harsh wind whipped past her face. The white light from the marble fountain illuminated her face. Two dark brown eyes pierced through the darkness occasionally to meet another pair passing by. Her long, straight hair jumped rhythmically with every step she took. By the light of the street lamps, a reddish tint to a deep brown could be seen. Her mauve colored lips were closed, and no sign of breath seeped out of them. A three-quarter-length coat was closed tightly around her figure.

IC: Music could be heard off in the distance, which grew louder with every step she took.
Soon, a building appeared. It was rectangular with sharp edges, and no decorations what so ever. The parking lot could not accommodate all the cars that arrived. She slowly made her approach to the door. Two men where on either side, bouncers no less.

Alex walked slowly down the sidewalk towards the building where the music was coming from. His black trench coat fallowed him like a dog fallowing it's master. His black hair was gelled in place and is black sunglasses sat on his face.

She did not look at them, or seem to notice them at all. She placed her hand on the handle of the door, but was pushed back by a strong hand. The bouncer to the right had stopped her, and was now intent on tearing her down. He was about two inches taller than she, dressed in black completely with seemingly more strength than the young woman. The woman looked up to him, and seemed indifferent if anything.

“Identification and number,” he said monotonously as his presence loomed above hers. She shifted around in her pockets for a moment, and pulled out a gun permit. The bouncer looked at it closely, then looked to a list behind him on the wall of the building. He turned back to the woman. “Sorry, you’re not on the list.”

“I realize that,” she said without hesitation, brushing back a strand of hair that had fallen in front of her face. “I wish to enter the tournament.” She added, her dark eyes pierced into them as if she could see through their souls. They looked at her and chuckled, as if she were making a joke.
“A woman such as yourself?” the other laughed. “You would be torn to shreds.” He settled and turned her around, placing an arm over her shoulder and escorting her away from the door. “You would last no more than ten seconds in there.” He chuckled and looked back to the other. In that split second, she twisted his arm behind him and kicked him sharply in the spine, sending him face first into the ground. She dug the heal of her black boot into the small of his back..
“I beg to differ,” she released her hold on him as she sensed the second approaching. She snapped out a silver gun from underneath her coat and aimed carefully. The bouncer stopped in his tracks, and backed off. “Now can I enter the tournament or not?” she asked raising an eyebrow.

“Yes,” he said reluctantly, handing her a small card for access. “Be sure to get it done as soon as possible…if you can stand the pain.” He laughed slightly. “Is there anything else I can do for you?” he said, then met her piercing gaze. She rushed toward him, pushing him against the wall with her hand gripping his throat. A shot was fired, and the bullet pierced through his right hand.
“Yes,” she said, somewhat offended, “clap.” She laughed, releasing her grip. The two bouncers were left on the ground as she stepped into the building.

The music was loud, and she received a few glares. She ran her hand along the edge of an empty table. She took off her coat revealing a pair of tight black jeans and a red, long sleave half shirt. She wore brass knuckles underneath a black denim cut-off glove. She removed her black hat, and ran a hand through her hair. The likeness was uncanny. She slipped toward a desk at the back of the club and leaned her arms on the edge of it. A man sat across from her. "Access card?" He asked holding out his hand. She reached in her pocket and pulled out the card she had received from the bouncer. The man looked it over for a moment and motioned for her to come behind the counter. "Sit," he said pointing to a chair behind the desk. She did without hesitation. Needles and countless metal tools lay on either side of her. "Where?" he continued.
She placed her hand on her back, just above her hips. "Do it...quickly. I don't have a lot of time." She said looking at him and piercing through his soul.
He began the blood tattoo. He carved into her skin. She hardly flinched at all. After a cut was made, he poured and forced a black ink into the cut. He seemed to be unsatisfied of how she suffered none. "Did any one ever tell you of your resemblence to her?"
"To whom?" she asked slightly suprised.
"Ravelyn Shentavo...have you not heard of her?"
"Ravelyn Shentave? Strangly the name sounds familiar, but I do not recognize the face that goes with it."
"Look into the mirror...She was a great leader...best we had. Her son has taken over the nation. Only angelic vampire in existance...great woman...how old are you?"
"Twenty five," she said.
"Well then! You should have known her...she died five years ago!"
"I don't remember anything before I was twenty....I just remember...being...I'm not sure how to describe it."

"Strange," he said looking at her. He stood up and put the needle away. "Number 8527...eight were of her kin, five of her council, two to complete her, and seven mysteries surrounding her. I find it also peculiar that you would receive such a number at such a random time."
"What exactly are you suggesting?" She asked standing up. She didn't seem to be rather interested. It must have all been a coincidence...a strangly entrancing coincidence.
"Nothing...just saying..." He said softly. "Good luck in the tournament...it should begin soon."
"Thank you," she said with a nod, and walked toward the bar. She leaned against the counter, and ordered a shot.

A man sat next to her. He was tall and rugged looking. The "4519" on his arm gave away that he was also participating in the turnament. He turned to her with eyes a deep crimson. She met his glare with her dark brown.
"You must be an ancient," he said with a sly smile. "I never thought I would meet the day that I would meet one...never thought they still existed."
"Anceint?" she asked suprised. "You must have me mistaken with someone else." She said turning back to the bar.
"My mistake...yet still," he persisted. "You have an extremely strong presence..."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"So..." he continued. "Where is you're host?"
"Host?" she laughed. "I'm afraid you have the wrong person, I am no vampire."
"Not a vampire?" he asked tilting his head slightly. "This is the tournament of the undead is it not? What makes you think a mortal such as yourself would be able to take on a vampire...like myself. There are elders here...not just the fledglings and neonates..."
"And what makes you think I can't?" she said, with her eyes piercing into his. He shuddered slightly, and almost fell backwards.
"Who are you?" he asked with a slight tinge of fear in his eye.
"They call me Sage," she said with a soft smile. She was telling the truth apparently, she was no vampire.
"Sage," he said. "Beautiful name." He looked and saw a ring on her finger. It was a wedding ring of great quality, and surely of high price.
"You married?" he asked raising his eyebrow.
"Married?" she laughed. "No...no I don't beleive I am."
"Where did you get that ring?"
*she looked at it* "This ring? I've had it for as long as I can remember."
"I see," he said standing up. "Get some rest...you're not up tonight human. Tommorow we'll see if you actually have the bragging rights."
*she said nothing in reply, but walked through a door and up a long flight of stairs*

Sage lay back on her bed, the darkness engulfing her. Ravelyn Shentavo? Such a great name. She pondered the thought of her, never knowing who exactly she was. She slowely fell asleep.
She ran. She ran along the edge of a long beach and stopped, falling to her knees in the shallow water. She looked down and placed her hands in front of her. She was cold. She felt something strange upon her back...wings. Black, glossy, angelic wings. Her hair was black and her skin was pale. She coughed slightly, then saw a hand in front of her. She grabbed it and stood up with his help.
The man seemed so familiar. She felt as if she just wanted to collapse in his arms. The ground came out from under her, a chain through her heart, and she was sent spiraling down into a firey hell. She reached for the one whom reached back to her.
"No!" she yelled as she sat up in bed in a cold sweat. She rubbed the back of her head and pushed the curtains aside. She placed her hand on her chest, no mark..nothing.... The same man was in the same dream she had had since she was twenty. Who was she. She looked at the ring on her hand, and then pushed the curtains aside. It was dawn break. She wouldn't have a match until tonight. She laid back down and rested.

Sage rolled out of bed. She was extremely tired, and had to have the drive for tonights battle. She wondered whom she would be competing against. She turned on the water in the shower and stepped in. The cold water trickled down her back. She threw her hair back and turned the water off. She tried off, and grabbed a set of clothes from her closet, tossing them on the bed. She pulled on her black jeans. She took something from the beureau. It was a long pewter chain. She looped it through the belt loops of the jeans. They ends hung at her right side. She wrapped a small metal wire where the two ends met on her hips and tied it. It was too small to be noticed, but would ensure that the chain would stay where it was put. She pulled a white half-shirt over her head. She grabbed a tight leather jacket from the coat rack. It was short sleeve, but still needed some tailoring. She took a knife from under her pillow and sliced the jacked horizontally and cropped the torso. She pulled it around her back and put it on. The definition of her abdominals was clearly seen. She grabbed another item from her beureau. two small pewter chains attatched to a cuff. She clasped on on either wrist. They had a writing on it..enoch, or more commonly known as the angelic language. She never understood the words, nor cared. She was ready. She brushed her chocolate-colored hair. Her eyes flickered with anticipation. In a few hours, her match would begin. She began to make her way downstairs.

She stepped down into the club. The music was already blaring, and many people were there. A TV was above the pool table. Two numbers flashed on it. An announcer was standing by. He was bald and bullnecked.
"Number 4519!" The man whom she had spoken with yesterday arose from his dark corner and stepped into the ring. As she had her chains, he had brass knuckles. The announcer looked suprised at the next contestant. "And Number 8527!" Sage took a step forward. In one jump she lept into the air, her hands caught the cement wall of the ring and she vaulted over it with perfect form.
Spectators watched; buzzing black flies awaiting the fight...and the loser. Questions and comments were passed of her mortality. It was easier to kill a mortal then a vampire...and there was no doubt on who the winner would be.
The man stood across from her and looked at her. She looked back, and spoke. "I never got your name, though I gave you mine."
"Let's make a deal....you win this, I'll tell you my name." he said with a smile.
"If I win this you won't be able to talk," she challeneged as she raised her eyebrow. She stood strong, and by the jeering, she could sense that she was not the one they had placed their money on.
"READY!" the announcer called. "BEGIN!"

Seth smiled slightly and looked at his opponent but his calmness was not real. He didn’t know what it was that made him feel uncomfortable, maybe her self-confident appearance at the bar and...how she looked like.
Like...no, that's impossible.Damn! She is only a small and weak mortal overestimating herself. She will be no problem. he said to himself. Even the spectators seemed to be sure who would be the winner.
He now really calmed down and was prepared for the fight when the announcer called: “Begin!”
Seth reached out his hand in a friendly gesture: “My the better one win.” His lips formed a warm smile, uncovering perfect white teeth but not his fangs. It really seemed as if he only wanted to wish Sage luck for this fight.

Jander was in the crowd, hooded as always, to hide his pointy ears and his elven features. He was playing with something in his hands, a huge blue gem, a sapphire, bright as the clear sky and mysterious as the sea.
Then he stared at the number, his number "2454, that's a good number after all. At least the people in here don't ask for a name, just for a number". He raised his gaze to the two combatants in the arena. The girl wasn't even an undead, she was only a mortal, but something in her aura disturbed the elven vampire. Her opponent shouldn't understimate her, she has something...something strange and special.
His hand rested in the hilt of his concealed whipsword. So many vampires in the same place were alerting his nerves. To him, the stench of the undead was disturbing. And the worst part is that I'm one of them. He was used to wash away the odor from himself, but it seems that many of the presents didn't use those precautions.

Sage looked at Seth in observance. Her eyes seemed a crimson for a moment, her lips as well....her skin pale, and hair black...exactly like Rave...but in a blink of his eye, The split second vision was gone...and only Seth had noticed it.
Ravelyn Shentavo, the nation's greatest leader. She was the leader of the coven, ancient in the order...said to be the mother of them all...But she had been cast down after millenia. The vivacious seraphim was thrown into the pits of hell and the barrier sealed. She was gone...and it was the end. The end. The end?
Sage looked at his hand and gripped it tightly. She knew what he was going to do from his eyes. He gripped his hand so hard, that the bones might snap. Her strength was more than a mortal mind can comprehend, and was that of something much older....
"And to you," she said with a wry smile...no fangs.

Seth had prepared himself to use a trick, a very old but still effectiv trick by reaching out his hand but know he stocked.
That is impossible! Absolutly impossible! She is dead.
For the smallest part of a second you could imagine he had seen Ravely Shentavo's face covering his opponents face. Then she gripped his hand with impossible strength.
His eyes opened a little more, not much but enough to let her see that he was surprised if not shocked, then confused when he saw her fangless teeth.
NO! It can't be! he thougt and pulled her hand into his direction while he kicked her legs away with his left foot. His eyes got a hard glare like cold steel.

It was as if she could anticipate his movements. Her eyes met his, her dark brown piercing eyes bore into his soul. Surprised is a too weak word to express what Seth was but he had not only survived until this day because he was such a goodlooking man.
His reflexes overtook the control. He didn't resist her force and followed her movement, turning around in the air to relieve his arm of the presure. At the same moment his left fist came up. Using his bigger range he tried to hit her throat.

"You wounded me. YOU WOUNDED ME! May God or whatever you believe in help you if I get a scarve from this." he yelled.

The blood lingered on the chains around her wrist. Sage did not expect him to retaliate. She wasn't expecting such an attack. She quickly raised her hands to a defensive postion, but suprisingly, as she reached her hands out, they caught his fist. She was thrown back by the force, as the chains hit the side of the arena as she was thrown back....she had blocked it nonetheless...but something that fast? for a human?

Seth stood for a moment, three or four seconds while he thought about what he could do ... if he could do anything if he was right.
Then he suddenly moved to the right and jumped at the wall where he rested again for another moment clinged to the wall like a giant spider.
He stared at her intensly; his look seemed to touch her soul and penetrate her mind.
And then his face and his look lost every expression in the short moment before he started his attack.
It was one of those attacks you should only use in hopless situations; an "all or nothing" attack.
The dangerous fangs uncovered he roared his war-scream, something like a mix between a hiss and a growl sounding like tearing linen.
Then he jumped forcing all his power into this attack, the right fist with the brass knuckles again lifted up for a hit, the left streched out to grasp at her throat; the sharpened fingernails aiming at Sage's larynx flashed in the light like metal.

21-10-2003, 17:00
Sage was not suspecting such a powerful attack. She flicked out her arms, the chains, wrapping around his wrists strongly, binding them close together as she pulled tighter. She could not block the force. He landed ontop of her, knocking her to the ground. However, his hands were now bound by her chains. She struggled to get up from underneath him. Five seconds. In a desperate attempt, she brought her leg up to hit him in the head, black leather seeming as a mere flash as the light fell down upon them. Four seconds. The blood from the chains was on both their hands, and the force had made a small cut just below her eye. Three seconds. The blood from his chest was now stained onto hers. Two seconds. She brought her chains, which still grasped his hands in self defence of an attempt to bite. A mouth of harsh metal was not an enjoyable experiance. One second left...
Oh, C'mon, girl. You can beat this guy easily. Don't attack him with your body, he's a lot stronger that you. Attack him with your spirit. Use your mind, stop to struggle. And the most important, be precise. Jander sends the psychic advise into Sage mind, without even knowing why he want to help her. It wasn't his problem, anyway...but still, if the girl kills the vampire, maybe he could trap his soul inside the gem...

Seth had attacked her with all his power and she had blocked it. Now he knew that she was not a simple mortal ... not even a mortal if he wasn't wrong.
He tried to break the chains but astonishingly he had no success, another thing that didn't fit with the picture of a small mortal girl.
More blood was running down his face after her kick and flew into his eyes.
Then she made a mistake: she brought her chains up to protect herself against his fangs, the only weapon left he had. But this also brought his hands into a position to use his fingernails ... also possibly deadly weapons.
Seth streched his fingers and rammed his nails down to her abdomen.

The air was in a deathly silence. Nothing could be heard other than the nails hitting somthing. Sage's eyes went wide.
His nails had hit the chain that she had wrapped so carefully around her before the competition. With a final burst of energy, she unwrapped the chains in a solid movement, and kicked Seth off of her. The nails had somewhat pierced the skin where the links of the chain had been, but otherwise they had taken the full force. It was over.

Seth landed with his back at the wall. He breathed hard and held his wounded but now healing chest and looked at her.
And I was sure she would be her. But although she is stronger than any human I've ever met she isn't that strong. She had luck else she would be dead now. She can't be it.
Loud he said:" Very impressiv for a human, Sage Versai. Very impressive, indeed."
He stood up and waited for the scores likking some blood of his own from his hands.

She looked at Seth for a moment. She didn't wait for the scores to be posted on the screen. Sage turned toward the darkness of the club and went up a long stairway to her dorm. All contestants were staying above the club. She left in quite a hurry. She slammed her hand down on the table. Who am I? she thought to her self. She punched the mirror, chards now submerged in her hand. She undid her chains and threw herself on the bed, now aware of the immense pain in her hand. She pulled the chards out one by one, as the blood stained the already crimson sheets. The door was left slightly ajar. She couldn't heal as the other contestants did....
Silence. The crowed gasped as they saw the scores....

8:12! He had lost! He could take this if it would have been her but defeated by a ... a HUMAN. Granted she was not a typical human but this didn't change anything for him.
He left the arena to ... destroy something.

Clash
The glass broke and the rests of the liquid dispersed on the floor.
Seth, who had been throwing the class, propped himself at the wall; it was obviusly that he was drunk.
Slowly and unsure he walked down the corridor his hand always at the wall.
Suddenly the wall moved and Seth fell ... he fell through the door that had opened under the presure of his hand. His chin hit the floor hard and stars were dancing around him when he tried to get on his feet again. The world turned round and round but slowly his eyes focused something ... or someone. He couldn't tell yet what it was.

Sage heard a loud noise. She shot up, her hand still dripping with blood. She moved toward a figure in the doorway. Her leather coat had been set a side, and she still wore a blood stained white T-shirt.

Slowly, very slowly Seth' look became clearer, the pictures now only rolled from the left to the right and back. Then he saw Sage and jumped up but nearly fell down again when the world became a crazy merry-go-round.
"Ya? Wwwhaad tou Ya tou herea, ya damn...damn...ton'd know wwhaad."
He stared at here but it was impossible to say if this was because he was drunk or because of his anger, maybe both.

Sage quickly helped him up and lifted him onto the bed, her hand hurting her immensly, caused by her own anger. She quickly retrieved some ice and placed it on his head. She got some ingrediants out of a small refridgerator in the room and began mixing somthing. She held a glass out to him filled with an orange liquid. "Drink this...it will help sober you up."

Seth looked surprised at the glass.
"No..no I have mm..my own glass..ss" *presents his empty hand and is even more surprised* "Damn wheare is mmy...?"
He shook his head and grasped for the glass the left Sage held in her hands.
With his third try he finally got the glass and took a deep gulp.

"GAAAAGH...WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" he threw the glass at Sage.

Sage caught dodged the glass by shifting to the side, and was slighlty suprised. He handed him the cold pack for his headache. "It will help you sober up...just a few special ingrediants...my secret." She looked at him for a moment. "You really ought to be careful...if other contestants saw you drunk, they might try and kill you to get you out of the tournament. Luckily I'm not other contestants." she swept up the remaining bits of glass. There was nothing out of the ordinary about her...besides her presense. A small strand of dark brown hair fell over her left eye. The cut under her eye had stopped bleeding...but it hadn't healed yet.

He took the cold pack and tried to loose the bad taste of Sage's "secret" by biting on his tongue and swallowing his own blood.

She sat down next to him on the bed and placed the cold pack to his head. Her skin was soft, and her presence was soothing. "Take it easy... it should kick in soon, you'll be fine." Her voice was calm and melodious. She lifted her shirt slightly to reveal the number "8527" on the small of her back. "I am a contestant, if you wanted proof of that." she said with a smile. She felt concern for Seth, even though she knew she shouldn't.

A man walked along the building slowly, his shoes tapping against the ground. He looked up at the enterence. Two bouncers stood there, one looked like hell, as if he had the crap bet out of him and the other looked pale as if he had seen a ghost. He walked up to them slowly.
"Hello, my name NOS Ka Len A your off," he said with a sardonic grin. "I am here for the tournament. Or do I have the wrong place?"
One of the bouncers checked a list.
"Um...how do you spell that he said," running his finger over a list.
"Noskalenaeuroph," he slowly spelled out.
The bouncer checked the list again, running his finger slowly down it. Noskalenaeuroph just stood there.
He spoke sardonically, "I am sure that I am on there and if not it does not look like you will be stopping me. I mean you look like hell." He grinned and spoke, "What happened to you? Pack of mad dogs or something?"

From behind a cluster of buildings, a truely giant battlemech appears. It starts to run in the bouncers' direction, stopping just short of them. The mech bends down, so that the boncers are looking right up the barrel of a large gauss rifle. A hatch opens at the top, and a white beard cascades to the ground.
"Hey, there fellars! Can I join? The name's Zebulon."

Varya strode up towards the bouncers, confidence in her stride as she smiled at the two men gaurding the doors.
"Identification and number?" One of the asked in a monotone voice, it sounded like he had been saying this all night.

The bouncer smiled as well, bearing his own set of fangs. "8526, Miss Sage Versai...she's something else if you ask me. A mortal. Defeating a vampire?! Inconceivable.....anyway, get your tatoo when you go in...", he handed her a pink slip and gave her a customary nod.
So, a mortal eh? Varya thought. Ah... that complicates things, humans are always hard to judge. Most of them are nothing more then food, but if this one could fight she could well be one with a little more knowledge in vampire society then she should know. Hm... surpises don't come cheap, I better what that one... though I wouldn't of minded a describtion.
Loud rock music could be heard in the background as Varya entered the building, but she quickly found it boring and monotonous... one or two peolpe looked her way but after a customary smile they turned back to what they were doing.
She strided toward a desk at the back of the club and sat down quickly. A man sat across from her. "Access card?" He asked holding out his hand. She put her hand down her top and pulled out the card she had received from the bouncer. The man looked it over for a moment and motioned for her to come behind the counter. "Sit," he said pointing to a chair behind the desk. She took her time, as she sat down purposefully. Needles and countless metal tools lay on either side of her. "Where?" he continued.
She concidered for a moment and then came to the conclusion that didn't want to have to strip every time she wanted to reveal her number.
"Just stick it my arm, I'm sure it doesn't really matter" He began the blood tattoo. He carved into her skin. She didnt move a muscle, after all, it was all dead flesh to her anyways and pain was a human trait*. After a cut was made, he poured and forced a black ink into the cut. After this he was satisfied and let her go without comment.
*Though she can still feel pain, she just doesn't like to admit it.

Noskalenaeuroph nodded to the bouncers. "Thank you," he said as he walked in. The inside was loud with the sound of blasting music and excited voices. Noskalenaeuroph took the slip of paper to a person.
"My number is 9737," he spoke while looking around the room. It interested him, but he was looking for this girl that bouncers mentioned. Whoever she was he knew that she must have been powerful to do such a number on that bouncer.
He got his tattoo on his ass, just for the hell of it. He was odd like that and always did stupid things. He walked on looking around when he saw a group of girls standing around chatting. He walked up to one of them and slapped her in the ass really hard.
"Hey. Anyone see Sage?"

The same dream. She was running, running fast along the beach. Chains were broken around her wrists. And she was fighting, fighting so hard. Her wings spread out and her crimson eyes mimicked her opponent. Powerful blasts exchanged. Then it was gone. She lay on the ground, head in her hands. Someone stepped to her with urgency and extended a hand. She looked up, and saw his face. The ground beneathe her ripped open, and she was sent spiriling down toward massive amounts of fire and brimstone. Still she reached for his hand.
"Vauhgn!" she yelled as she sat up in her bed, her hand outstretched. She let it fall to her side. She was shaking. It had felt so real...so real. She was in such a state of shock, she stayed that way for two minutes. She finally got up and placed her leather jacket over her shoulders. She couldn't recall the name she had yelled...
Whatever this dream was, it was tormenting her. And the identity of the person she reached to with such compassion lay a mystery to her. She looked at the ring on her hand for a split second, and continued downstairs. The music blared loudely. Her half shirt revealed her number, 8527, on the small of her back. The wounds were gone from yesterday's fight, and tonight there would be another for her.

Seth was still sitting at the bar sunk into his thoughts although he had come to this place to turn his thoughts away from...this special case.
The nail of his left forefinger scratched small circles, signs of his nervousness, into the wood of the bar.
It was one question that made him nervous, one thought he couldn't forget: She is the one that is said to be death!

Sage was still quite shook up from her dream. She stretched as she took a seat at the bar. Her long dark hair flowed down her back, and her brown eyes peirced through anything and everything. The only mortal in the building, now first in the tournament. She wasn't one to spread her word of victory. She kind of liked Seth, though he may be a little sketchy in someways. She looked up on the screen. Who the hell would she have to fight now? She was still focused on that man from that dream...
Two numbers appeared on the screen within the next moment:
8527....and 9737.

After what had happened this day nothing could realy surprise or shock Seth anymore ... maybe without a man exposing his ass. So he didn't even jerk a bit when somebody suddenly loughed out behind him.
"You make too many presumptions old man, we would not be here if we couldn't fight." the lady in black told him.
"Besides, we are here to have fun... meet some of our own kind and maybe get a little fight in occasionally" She sighed.
"Oh well, it seems we vampires are as arrogants as we ever were... not to worry, we will learn much tonight. Just hope it doesn't cost too much..."
Seth looked over her closely: Whom do you call an old man , young lady? he replied; then his eyes became dark as if he wouldn't really be there anymore but somewhere else.
And just for your information: Not everyone here is from our own kind ... not really. And I have learned something; and it costed me much. Maybe more then even me knows.
Then the screen presented the next combatants; Someone with the number 9737 and ... Sage. Seth slid off the stool.
I hope you excuse me if I now leave you? I want to get a good place to see the next fight. He didn't wait for her to answer and left the bar, the lady and his half emptied glass next to the deep circular scratches on the table-top.
Nothing has changed, Varya thought. The older ones continue to presume that the young are weak, that we don’t know their secrets and their dark powers… Well… they will learn soon enough, I may only be 35 years old re-born* but I know… short cuts that few kindred would consider. Her aura was tainted for all seers to see; those that can see the aura^ of a person will notice the blatant black lines that plague it… To fully understand what it means the being in question would have to have seen it before, or at least had the effect described to them by a mentor.
Varya, being ignored by Seth, decided that annoying him further would not be worth the effort… after all, she preferred someone who at least try and continue a conversation. I think I’ll wait until the match start until I move closer… I mean, who wants to grab a seat an hour before the match begins?
After that she started thinking about getting something to eat, it looked like this event was going to be a drawn out affair.

From each hung a few links of heavy metal chain. She walked toward the arena, and leaned against the wall. She wanted to see whom her opponent was before she stepped in.
Her black jeans were slightly loose to provide flexibility for her. Her white half shirt no longer bore Seth's blood. She scanned for him amongst the people. Maybe he could tell her about the new contestant. Thirty minutes untill the beginning.
*Suzaku approached the two bouncers.*
Suzaku: "Good evening gentlemen."
*He was wearing red and white tunic, with white baggy cloth pants. The outfit was completed by a pair of clogs (Think of the type of footwear Samurai Jack wears) on his feet. The bouncers nod at him and allow him passage.*
Bouncer 1: "Go on in, pretty boy. You're on the list."
*Suzaku ignores the pretty boy comment. In all his years he's learned to let the small things slide. He enters the club, finding a seat at the bar and taking it.*

Seth was sitting next to a pillar waiting for the fight to begin. Slowly the seats filled.
Then he saw Sage and hid deeper in the shaddow the pillar casted upon him. He didn't want to be seen by or talk to her. Not at the moment. Not until he knew if she really was what she seemed to be.
I think I will soon know it. Good luck little girl if you are not what I suppose you to be. And good luck 9737 if she is.

Noskalenaeuroph approached the arena. He stopped outside it and looked around. He had no idea who his opponent was and scanned the area for any sight of a possibilty of who he might be fighting. That was no use though, for there were too many possibilites. He continued to look about, looking at all the people.

A referee appeared in the ring, hopping over the edge. "9737" he yelled in a loud voice. He held in his hand a katana, a quarter staff, and a club lined with small spikes. "Take your pick," he continued monotonously. "Unless you have brought your own weapon. Guns are strickly prohibited as the use of magic. Do you understand these rules?"
Sage watched, waiting for her number to be called. Her chains hung to her knees when her arms were tight against her side. Her dark brown eyes caught his...and she knew which he would use. Call it instinct, call it telepathy, call it lucky...but she somehow knew. She sensed him, and the dream came back to her. What had that man's name been? what had she called out? So many questions she needed to answer herself.
She slowely made her way to the edge of the ring, and hopped over. Her muscles were slightly tense as she approached him. Her resemblance to Her was uncanny...and her presence unmistakable. Yet before 9737, stood an average mortal...right? That's the end of it. The end. The end? or the sequel...
The referee looked toward Sage. 9737 towered over her. She was only 5"9...and but a mortal. And she stood infront of a well trained vampire...but no trepidation could be seen in her eyes.

Noskalenaeuroph smiled sardonically. He took an M and M from his pocket at tossed it into his mouth.
"Mmmmm...melts in your mouth, not in your pants."
He looked at the weapons then patted on his long sword. "I will be using this."
He looked around his eye caught a girl. As she entered the ring and approached him, he looked more closely at her. She was not as tall as him, but he was not prejudgemental.
He thought, I wonder if this is that girl they were all talking about? She does appear to be harmless and the bouncer said that she appeared to be harmless. Perhaps, I should keep my guard up."
He smiled at her. "Hello, my name is Noskalenaeuroph. I am 9737." He quickly turned around, bends over, and exposes his ass. "See."
He fixed himself and held out his hand. "And you are?"

Sage watches as he exposes his number. She looks at him for a moment. "Pleasure," she said in a slight greeting. "But I've already figured out your number, for it's flashing on that big screen over there." She looked toward the screen where 9373 and 8527 were flashing. The referee stood between them.
"Let's make a deal. If you win this fight, I will tell you my name. But if you lose this fight, you will NEVER do that again....do we have a deal?"

OOC:
This is the saddest thing I have ever seen. People with no lives commenting on something that does not concern them. You have to love people like that. They just pop their naive heads into threads and make senseless comments.
IC:
Noskalenaeuroph smiled. "Agreed."
He waited for the beginning of the fight, standing there grinning like a fool.
"so anyways, we were in high spirits after we did a couple of Yevon priests who didn't like us much, coming back Enrico's haven to get ready for some business we had to take care of. Thing is though, when we got there we could see thick black smoke coming from the windows... that alone cuase discomfort among some of us, you know what it is about fire." Varya was leaning a little over the bar talking to the bartender, who she presumed was a vampire, but she didn't really look into these things anymore. She had been talking to him for some time, though not drinking becuase she only had taste for one thing.
"So anyways, there we were, running up the stairs to make sure Enrico was ok... we may not of liked him much, but he was one of us. When we got there we saw this man standing over a burning corpse with a petrol can in his hand and a lighter in the other... he was wearing a white shirt and tie! Could you image how we felt? Some guy from a office block had ragged Enrico with a petrol can! Of course, it didn't take much to drain him of all he's worth... but it goes to show that no matter how strong we are there are always more of them. If we underestimate them, they will get us... and ever since Enrico bought it, I have took a mortal lightly again becuase there is always the chance that you may find one that knows what it is doing and if you don't know that they are prepared then you had better be good... had that man ragged one of the Costello's, I would have made him one of us, it's hard to find that kind of tenecity with todays youth, but damn it... he ragged Enrico." Varya sat back down in her chair and looked over to the starting fight and wondered... finally she came to the conclusion that she will check it out when it got moving a little.
OOC Side note: Varya casts no reflection, not in water, shiny objects or mirrors, this is said to be becuase of her clans connentions and thus they were cursed for their vanity. For the same reason Varya cannot be seen by CCTV or any other electronic imaging device... this may sound great, but for someone who doesn't advertise the fact they are a vampire, it can be a problem. Another weakness of her clan makes her take more damage from sunlight then others. All of this is staying with the WoD tune that Varya was made with.
OOC: To make things easier for you Krowemoh, Varya is sitting next to your character, though she's talking with the barman right now who will be just listening (no need for Rave to RP him unless I've said something IC that he will react to personally). See the above picture for an idea of what she looks like.

Sage observed her opponent throughly. This time, she would make the first move. Her dark eyes scanned him over. It was a three minute battle. All that was left was the ref's call and the sound of the bell. Anything goes. She glanced around at the crowd and caught a few people's eyes. The crowd was still against her as far as betting went. Though before it was 1: 100....and the odds were slashed 1:50. She was gaining their respect and favor...but that didn't matter to her.
Her fighting techinque: Bone Akiedo...an ancient techinque long forgotten, but extremely effective. It was usally used by espionage agents to inflict as much damage as possible to multiple opponents with little a force.
She waited. Seconds passed....then a minute. She stared him down and her eyes pierced through him, even through his soul. The ref paused for a moment, then yelled. "Begin!" He ran out of the ring. The jeers of the crowd cound be heard, and the blue flies continued to buzz awaiting the sure outcome of the fight. Noskalenaeuroph would surely win against a human...right?
Sage looked at him, and in seconds she rushed towards him, flipping inches infront of him. She dropped in front of him and whipped her arm toward his knees. The chain followed her wrist, flying toward the back of his legs with great force. As she followed through, she brought her wrist upquickly, aiming towards his face. She had become more percise and seemingly more adapted in her second fight.

A mysterious figure appears in front of the bouncers. The figure is tall by human standards, and clad in a long grey cloak. The cloak is baggy, hiding any truly distinguishing features, besides the reptillian tail that trails out the back. In its right hand it holds a staff-like weapon, long and black. "I have come for this tournament..." It says in a deep and gravelly voice.
OOC: In the meantime I will try to get a screenshot of Whiptail.

(You're not bringing in whiptail, remember?...)
The bouncer looks at him for a moment. A large cut was bleeding through his back from Sage. THe other bouncer had a bullet lodged in his left hand, trying to get it out with his fangs. "Name please." he said, looking at the list.
Wandering Argonians
27-10-2003, 01:16
OOC: You are correct. I meant to get it for the character page. Zektal resembles Whiptail, before his 'transformation'. Whiptail also wears a black cloak, and carries a pair of katanas, not a double-bladed sword like Zektal. Zektal's tail is also much shorter than Whiptail's; It does not touch the ground when relaxed.
IC:
"I am Zektal, of the Foehunters." The Argonian answers. "Am I allowed to wield my weapon in the arena, or am I to fight bare-handed?" Zektal does not bow in respect, as is customary in his homeland. Indeed, he had little respect for vampires. He waited patiently for the battered pair to locate his name on the list.

*Suzaku couldn't help but overhear the conversation the female vampire next to him was having with the barkeep. A smirk crossed his face.*
Suzaku: "Praytell, vampire, though it is none of my business, where abouts did this 'Enrico' perish? Oh, and barkeep? Something hard, if you please."
*He grinned, showing off his perfectly white teeth. No fangs. Not a vampire.*
http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/338831/suzaku02.jpg <-- The best Suzaku pic I could find. Gawd, for one of the coolest badguys in Yu Yu Hakusho, there sure isn't much fanart of him... Well, that, or Google just sucks. Anyways, if I find a better Suzaku pic, I'd post it, mmkay?
OOC: Err… not meaning to be an ass, but I my character is under the impression that vampires can retract their fangs so they can fit into human society, see only knows of a few that can’t retract their fangs (usually because of transformations). Varya just doesn’t retract hers, trying to embrace vampirism as much as possible.
“Praytell, vampire, though it is none of my business, where abouts did this 'Enrico' perish? Oh, and barkeep? Something hard, if you please.” The young man grinned, showing the whites of his teeth. Varya grinned back in bemusement… what did it matter where Erico fell, she thought.
“Dorsal, Free Iuthia*. Dumb ass went and got himself smoked by some pencil pusher. Had he seen him he would of tore that man apart… but it looks like he got careless.” Varya looked down for a moment, she sisterly bond with Enrico was a little stronger then most… but that was a human emotion and was thus repressed.
“So who wants to know?” Back to a smile again, Varya now looked upon him expectantly.
* Free Iuthia is a separate nation from Iuthia, about half it’s population and twice the economy. It got a few crime problems that Iuthia doesn’t have because it concentrates on the corporations.
((OOC: It's kewl. Vampires aren't really my cup of tea, so I don't know much beyond what they show in the movies.))
Suzaku: "What a way to go. If I had a heart, it would go out to him."
*Suzaku grinned.*
Suzaku: "I am called Suzaku, and you are, my lady?"
“Well Suzaku, I’m Varya. I would offer you a drink but they don’t serve anything alive around here. But it’s a pleasure to meet you none the less.” Varya replied playfully, it isn’t easy to tell whether she was joking or whether she was serious, though her tone sounded quite casual.
Varya then looked at the bar tender and sweetly asked. “You don’t serve anyone alive do you?” Again she smiled…
"He must", says a voice just right of Varya. Jander was trying to appear just casual, but a strange glow in his eyes betrayed him. "Everybody here wants to drink something alive, including you and me, Lasombra", he says, almost whispering the last word. His pointy, elven ears were contrasting with his pale, vampire fangs. He hisses to Suzaku, as to scare him away.
*Suzaku merely smirks as the new comer hisses at him. A light chuckle escapes his lips as he resumes his convo with Varya.*
Suzaku: "They don't serve here the kind of drinks I like. But this here vodka suits me fine for the time being."
*He holds up the glass of the clear liquid the Barkeep brought him.*
Suzaku: "Different strokes for different folks, and all that. Your kind like blood, while mine... Well, souls of the mortal races, when flavored with just right emotions, are very... Oh, how to say..."
*He waves his hand as if to grab the word he was looking for out of the air.*
Suzaku: "Tasty... One could say I'm a connasuriur(sp?)."
*One corner of his lips curls upward into a lopsided grin.*

Zektal ignores the man's comment. It is a sign of respect as a warrior, not a sign of submission. You would do well to hold your tongue, lest I cut it out, and you are forced to hold it. He thought as he made his way to the bar. Am I not supposed to have a number? Zektal's mind went blank. There had been some mention of a number.

Noskalenaeuroph could not resist the temptation as he fell to his knees hard. He stopped himself with his arm, so that he was on his knees and one arm, and swung the other one round fast to crack her in the ass.
He smiled sardonically until a chain smashed him across the face, wiping the smile off his face.
"Why...why you hit so hard..."
He wiped his cheek, a deep cut was in his cheek and was dripping blood down his face. His scathing smile reformed on his face as he stood up slowly. He pulled out his sword.
"Fast...and accurate. I guess I will need to be on my guard."
He stood poised ready for her next move.

Sage smiled as she saw the first hit connect. She stumbled slightly as she was whipped by free hand. She looked at him with her piercing gage. Apparently she wasn't to thrilled. For a split second, it seemed as if her eyes were crimson, but a second later, a normal deep brown. She paused for a moment.
"why..you hit so hard." she asked returning his sardonic smile. "I'll have a bruise there for a week now." she tilted her head slightly. She would not suffer a bruise after a week... He'll pay for that.
She imediately backed about five feet away from her. She twisted her wrists, and the chains whipped with her movements. She apparently had been working with such a weapon for a long time. Bone Akiedo.
She rushed towards him, and instead of using her chains, she threw an uppercut to his face. Her muscles in her arms tensed as she began her assault again. Her moves were quick and sharp.
"Everybody here wants to drink something alive, including you and me, Lasombra", Jander said, almost whispering the last word. His pointy, elven ears were contrasting with his pale, vampire fangs. He hisses to Suzaku, as to scare him away. Varya smiles at this, and quickly checks Jander from top to bottom, not even trying to be discreet about it.
“So what’s with the Spock ears?” She asked in the bluntest way possible. She had seen elves before but she didn’t like them too much, they did have much staying power.
Suzaku waves his hand as if to grab the word he was looking for out of the air. "Tasty... One could say I'm a connasuriur*" One corner of his lips curls upward into a lopsided grin.
Varya looked at the guy seriously then smiled at him, laughing on the inside. She had seen quite a few things, but she hadn’t heard of anything like it before… none the less she knew not to underestimate these things and then went on to learn more.
“So, how do you taste these emotions? I assume you don’t just shove a straw into someone’s head and suck it all out… then again, I’ve got someone in my group who does that involuntarily, we have to control what he eats otherwise he’ll think he’s a rat for a couple of days… then again, it’s best to keep an eye on him at all times, he’s not got much control.”

Am I not supposed to have a number? Zektal's mind went blank. There had been some mention of a number.
A man sat at a bench, waiting for the next contestant to get their blood tatoo. He smiled viciously as sharp objects poked out from behind the counter.
"Spock?, never heard of him", says Jander with an amused smile. "I just want to know if you're here for the tournament, that's all".
“Of course I’m here for the tournament, didn’t come her to watch that’s for sure. Though by the sounds of some of these “experienced” elders there isn’t much competition, their too busy going on about some prophesy and their amazed that anything human could kick their asses… man, you’d think they had just got hit on the head with a shovel or something.” Varya ranted for a moment… the elders always seemed to be arrogant and it annoyed her. They act like the know everything yet they rarely go out on the front lines and learn the things they need to know. Also, life is full of surprises and she didn’t like people to act like they just got an enema when they had one*.
She looked at Jander and then said. “Look, don’t worry about the “Spock” thing, it’s a insider joke. I just don’t see many Elven kindred… or any for that matter of fact…”
*A surprise I mean, not a enema.
"Yes, we're few, no elf wants to be inmortal, they're inmortal anyway. However, sometimes accidents happens", says Jander, looking at the fight, playing with the huge blue gem between his fingers. "You should take a look on that human girl, she's good, very good", pointing at Sage.

Noskalenaeuroph was knocked abruptly off of balance, stumbling back some, but regaining himself before hitting the ground. He rubbed his chin quick and smiled. This was a sparing fight for him. His opponent was fast, accurate, and agile. He smiled idiotically again. He was always smiling, no matter how serious the matter at hand.
He backed up some to prepare for his attack. He ran forwards, pulling the sword back, preparing to make a clean cut into his opponent. He was still running, toward her...at her...in front of her, when a chain from seemingly no where caught him in the ankle sending him down onto his knee. She had moved so fast, that he had not seen her swing at him.
"Damn, she is fast," he mumbled through gritted teeth and he clenched his jaw shut tightly to suppress the pain that quickly shot through his leg. "She is supposed to be mortal. How could a mortal manuever that fast? She must either be really damn good or something is fishy here. She must be a more though...I mean look at her, she does not look like anything else. She acts completely like a mortal and I should know that, but that incredible speed and agility...," he thought quickly in a matter of split seconds before he stood back up and moved away from her. He was not about to attempt that move again, at least for now. He grinned again, the idiotic smile spreading across his face, although nothing was cleary worth smiling over.
He stood once again, a little awkward as the final pain numbed in his leg, slowly dispersing and going away. He lift his sword in front of him, eyeing his opponent closely. He did not want to miss a move she made, lest it come back and haunt him.
OOC:
Sorry, Rave for playing your character. I just thought that it would fit in, if it is not good just tell me and I will edit it. Sage looked at him, her chains whipping to hit the air as she prepared herself for the final moment in the battle. Thirty seconds left. Each opponent had one more move to make. Each would decide the outcome of the scores. She still hadn't repayed him for hitting her in the ass.
Twenty seconds. She rushed toward him, bracing her wrists for the impact, she aimed at his stomach, driving forward into him with her foot, and chains trying to wrapp around his neck. As her skin touched his, a warmth was sent through his body. Her skin was full of life. But as he got closer to her, he felt the coldness seeping through her skin, as if it were trapped.
Jander was looking towards the fight, playing with the huge blue gem between his fingers. "You should take a look on that human girl, she's good, very good", pointing at Sage.
"I suppose I should but I think she is getting enough attention from her fans. If she is the mesiah they are looking for then it won't make much difference if I don't look... and if she isn't then I'm sure I can wing it. I'm not a martial arts pupil, I can't watch them and find their weaknesses. I have to witness it first hand during the fight itself... if I'm not good enough now then that's something I'll have to deal with." Varya looked over towards Sage for a moment and then turned back...
"Feel free to watch her if it will make you feel any better, after all I can always talk to the bartender if I have too."
Der Fuhrer Dyszel

Noskalenaeuroph smiled before the impact. He only felt an intense warmth flood him and then cold. He grunted, as if in severe pain. He did not know why, it just came out.
His sword remain in front of him and he not move or make any attempt to evade anything, perhaps it was because he psychially could not or perhaps it was because he mentally could not. He stood...trapped, as he braced himself for something, but what he did not know.
He lowered his sword and attempted to drive it into her leg, although he was not conscious of doing this.
*Suzaku shook his head slowly.*
Suzaku: "Nothing as archanic as sticking a straw in someone's head, I can assure you. Perhaps one day I'll show you how I do, as it's much too complex to explain in words."
*Again he flashes his pearly whites, then he listens to Jander about Sage.*
Suzaku: "So she's the mortal everyone's been talking about. If she's this powerful... I wonder how she would taste? Do you know, Varya, if she belongs to anyone, or is under protection?"
Varya decided not continue talking about “tasting emotions” because technically she has done something like it in the past, basking in the joy one gets in the chase, the shear terror you instil in them can drown your senses. Watching them cower as the darkness engulfs them and literally frightens them to death… yes… Varya had tasted fear before and she had found it quite palatable.
“Bah… they don’t allow magic here so I wouldn’t try, otherwise you’ll get your ass blasted by a ton of trigger happy elders. I bet they won’t even let me have any fun.” Varya sighed for a moment, more out of habit then out of need. “Not that it matters, I’m perfectly capable of fighting without resorting to tricks…”
Suzaku: "I do not doubt your abilities nor your combat prowess. An Elder Vampire? Blasting a Saint Beast? I would like to see it. Even one as young as myself, I am quite powerful. But enough of that."
*With a final swig of the glass of Vodka, Suzaku sets the empty glass down.*
Suzaku: "I would like to hear more of yourself, Varya."

Compared to some of the later bad guys in the series, IE The Toguro Brothers, he's actually quite weak.
Anyhow, if you want to see Suzaku in action, I suggest buying the DVD of Yu Yu Hakusho, Seven Ways to Die Volume. Or if you're not too keen on buying DVDs, you can try to download them from Kazaa or your favorite P2P. The episodes are Episode 19: Suzaku, Leader of the Saint Beasts; Episode 20: Seven Ways to Die; and Episode 21: Yusuke's Sacrifice.
'Sides, I don't plan on using Suzaku as Sage's Arch Nemesis, or even her enemy, in this RP. I'm using him just to interact with the others. He won't fight in the tournment.
Suzaku, in my opinoin, doesn't need to be scaled down cause he's not all that powerful to begin with.))
OOC: Fine, fine…
I never said DBZ, nor did I mean to imply it… my complaint was that characters at seraphim level usually have über powers and you compared yourself to a seraphim. Seeing as you don’t have über powers then that is fine.

Sage was unaware of the sword as it sliced across her leg. Ten seconds. She wrapped her chains around the sword, pulling it from him with all her strength. The sword clattered on the ground, and the shackles around her right wrist had fallen with it. She looked at him, only inches apart. There was complete silence as five seconds passed by slowely. In her final attack, she drove her fist, with the chain following close behind to dig into his skin, straight into chest. She looked into his eyes, in which he found the truth. The bell rang...it was over, but the result could not be seen... they were too close...

Noskalenaeuroph realized the truth, but not that it would matter to him for long, for it was too late. He felt with bitter detachment his life slip from him. An odd sensation filled his body, a feeling of falling....falling deep into a passionate sleep.
Slightly aware of what he was doing he exuasted a great exhale. He stupidly smiled in appreciation of this person standing so close to him, as felt his knees weaken. He started to fall and with his last bit of energy reached up and slapped her in the ass again, for good measures.
He collapsed on the arena floor, unmoving and silent, his open eyes staring up at the girl who had just beaten him. He lay half sprawled out, staring up, but seeing nothing....hearing nothing.
In his head was just a darkness....a silent cold darkness.

Seth watched the last seconds of the fight with growing tension. Then the fight was over and his chest hurt in rememberence of his healed wound.
Again she had fought against a superior opponent ... and again she was the winner.
Impossible for a mortal but easy for her.
He wondered if Noskalenaeuroph had seen what Seth now saw.
His nails digged deep into his legs causing bleeding scratches but Seth didn't even reckognize the pain; all what he felt, what he saw, what he thought was: Ravelyn Shentavo!

The scores were posted on the board, and as the contestants looked up, they saw:
9373: 9
8572: 16
She had won once again...strange how things seemed to work out for her. She leaned by Noskalenaeuroph, now fallen. She placed her hand to his head. Suddenly, something changed. He was brought back into consciousness, the pain dulled. When he opened his eyes she jumped back. Slowely she stepped back.
What the hell did I just do!? She thought to her self. She turned toward the stairs and slipped past the jeers of the crowd toward her room. This was too much pressure.
*Suzaku awaited Varya, wanting to hear more of her, if she felt so inclined to tell him of herself.*

((OOC: It's kewl. ^^;; I was thinking of breaking it off too.))
*Suzaku isn't the least put off by the vampire. He usually found the lesser races uninteresting. But this mortal human girl, word was around going around that she had beat her second opponant.*
Suzaku: Who is this mortal, that she can defeat two powerful vampires single handedly? I must speak with her, later.
*In his mind, Varya is already a faded memory, soon to be forgotten. He mused about the human girl while ildly sipping a glass of brandy. As she past him en route to her room, he sent a telepathic message her way.*
Suzaku: "You are strong for a mortal. I wish to know more of you. Leave your door ajar if you wish to meet with me tonight. Rest assured, I have no desire to harm you."
*The message ended there, and Suzaku gave no indication he was the one who sent it, he just sat there unmoving, the glass of brandy held to his lips, tilted slightly so the dark liquid would spill easily into his mouth.*

Noskalenaeuroph felt an odd sensation, such as that of floating. He jerked away to see his opponent, who was standing over him, jump back. She walked away.
Noskalenaeuroph sat up, the pain in his chest dulling, but still there. He looked down in disbelief. He was sure he had just died, but that girl....that girl did something to him.
He slowly stood up shakily. His sword lay at the corner of the arena. He walked over and looked at it, as if it were some foreign unknown object. He picked it up and slid it into its sheath on his back.
In a daze, he walked off the arena...defeated and confused. His thoughts blazed with thoughts of this girl. She saved him...but why...and what was that odd feeling he felt? He was not five feet from the arena when he collapsed again. He was drained of all his energy and could not move.
His thoughts centralized themselves around this mysterious girl as he looked up and gawking people, before he slowly fell asleep out of exuastion.
Jander approached Noskalenaeuroph, extending his hand to him. "Surprised?", he says, a little note of amusement in his voice.

Sage was shocked at the message, but as she left, she left the door ajar. She collapsed on her bed, and lay on her back. She closed her eyes and breathed in the cold air deeply. Her room had become quite cold. So many things were happening...and so many things she couldn't explain. Noskalenaeuroph had...had died? Hadn't he...yet her touch. The touch of her hand and her passion brought him back to this world. It couldn't be, it couldn't have happened. She convinced herself that he had never died, and tried to forget what had happened. She was first in the tournament to everyone's suprise. Who was she?
She wished she could answer that question herself.
Hours past and night fell, and with the fall of the night, she fell. She fell again. She looked toward the man she reached for. Such a strong unexplainable bond between the two...nothing could sever it. She reached toward him, and he reached toward her. A chain pierced through her heart, and dragged her down into the flames. "Vaughn!" she remarked as she sat up in her bed. Beads of sweat lay on her forehead. A dream...only a dream. It seemed so real though. It seemed as if it was happening to her at that moment. Vaughn... The name ran through her mind. No, She convinced herself, No. Just a foolish dream. Nothing more, nothing less...
*The night passed, Suzaku gave Sage a few hours to make up her mind, then paid for the collection of drinks he had accumlated from the bar tender and moved to the stairs, ascending them silently with practised stealth. Reaching the upper levels where the rooms were, his eyes sweept across the short hall, finding one door slightly ajar.*
Suzaku: So Sage does wish to speak.
*He moved to her door, pulling it open just enough so he mayst squeeze through. Now on the inside, his eyes sweept the room once, finding Sage soundly asleep on her bed.*
Suzaku: How foolish. Does she not realize that there are those who may wish to slay her? She appears to be dreaming... I wonder...
*He crept closer, almost to the side of her bed, and attempted to probe her mind for a glimspe into her dream. Sage choose at that moment to wake up, bolting upright. Had she detected his attempted mind probing? No, not possible.*
Sage: "Vaughn!"
*Suzaku took a step back from her, letting the mortal girl get her bearings.*

Sage looked up to him in shook. She was not in the slightest bit afraid. She laughed slightly, brushing the hair from her eyes as various thoughts crossed her mind. She sat on the edge of the bed, and looked up to him. She apparently wasn't paying much attention, and was pouring a glass of water for herself.
"Can I help you?" she asked inquizitively.
Suzaku: "Perhaps. Oh, where are my manners? I am the Saint Beast Suzaku, I contacted you by telepathy after the fight."
*A short bow and small flourish of his arm.*
Suzaku: "And you are Sage, a seemingly normal human mortal, who has singly handedly defeated two Vampires. Or at least, that is what I am told. But second hand information is so drull."

She had not bothered to take them off from the fight.
Suzaku: "At first I wasn't. As far as I was concerned, you are probably just another Vampire Hunter trying to get a few more notches on your belt, but then I saw you. Your soul, it's not like any other mortal's soul, and trust me, I've eaten enough souls to tell a normal one from an abnormal one at a glance."
*He put his hands on his ankles, leaning towards Sage while still maintaining a non-hostile stance and tone of voice.*

Seth entered his own room and closed the door and locked it. Nobody should see what he was going to do, especially no other vampire.
He took of his clothes and threw them onto the bed. Then he opened the wardrobe and took out an obviously very old box.
He opened the box.
Inside there were some sealed linen-bags. Seth took the first one and broke the seal and put his right hand into the bag. When he drawed it back it held the object that had been in this bag for centuries: a small golden cross with a ruby where the beams crossed.
Seth looked at the cross in his hand and his eyes filled with teares. All the long forgotten reminiscences came back to him; everything what he had repressed since he had been forced to live a life he never wanted: the life of a vampire.
He kneeled down and bow his head.
O Lord forgive me. I have had forgotten that you are the one. I have denied your existance since I lost my life. For more than 900 years I have been without you and followed my own ways but now I see that you are. I've seen your miracle and I finally know that only you could bring back to life what was dead, that only your mercy can create a miracle like this. I now see that I was wrong when I thought you could not exist. O Lord forgive me 'cause you are the mercy and the death and the life. Amen.
Then Seth took the other bags out of the box. They were of different forms and shapes but they all contained pieces of his former life. And now he would finally be allowed to use them again; for the first time since 900 years.
(didn't I say he'll get a background? lol)
Jander raises Noskalenaeuroph and takes him out of the arena zone, bringing him to his room, dropping him in his bed. "You're lucky that I like you, and that your blood line is not the one that I'm looking for", says the elven vampire to the fallen nightstalker.
"So, many vampires think that this girl is some kind of chosen, trying to fulfill a prophecy. Looks interesting, I will destroy their prophecy just with one stroke", he says as he leaves, his Whipsword reacting to his anger, the chain of the blade loosening, and the razors starting to fly into the air, following the slim silouette of the elf.

Noskalenaeuroph, half in and out of his daze, let himself be assisted by someone off the arena and to his bed. As he regained himself, he looked to see that the person who had helped him was the one he had sat with at the bar.
He weakily laughed, while listening to what Jander was saying. He was glad for the help and the reassuring words.
He listened to what Jander had told him...especially the prophecy part. There was something odd about that girl. He had died...he felt himself slip away...but then he was back...back to life.
"How", he thought to himself.
He watched Jander leave, realizing that he wanted to tell him about what happened. Someone should know and he wanted Jander to know. If Jander was going to fight her, he ought to know about that....power.
Noskalenaeuroph quickly slid himself off the bed. Too quickly though, because he fell to his knees as soon as he stood up, grabbing the sheets of his bed as he fell. He clenched the sheet in his hand as he watched the silouette of the elf grow fainter into the darkness.
"Damn," he mumbled before passing out.

OOC: What are the chances of me getting a bite to eat in this joint, if not this join then in city… you’ve never really gone into detail on how the Shentavo people deal with crime and stop supernatural from feeding on the innocent… which is kind of what I want to do. Of course, humans are not the best source of food here…
That said, the bartender never did say if he had “someone to eat” as I elegantly put it. If it wasn’t for the insane amount of protection everyone and everything has here, I would of done a few more things… but I don’t want to cause chaos, after, few people want to come all this way only to get eaten by Varya.
Varya started to scope out the club in the hope of finding something to eat… maybe they served humans here, or at least have a few wondering around. First of all, Varya decided to check out the security of the place; bearing in mind that CCTV and electronic eyes cannot see her because of her nature. She’s looking for bouncers on the inside that are actively watching what people are doing… then she is going to innocently use her shadow manipulation in a small way (not obvious unless you are using un-conventional techniques to watch) to see if anyone notices her playing with the shadows near by. The purpose of this is to see if anyone is watching her using disciplines (or powers if you want).
After checking the security, she looks for possible pray, starting with un-marked vampires and humans; she would also make a note of their position and more importantly, how dark the area is*.

„She said it would be Sage.” Seth answered the question instead of the bartender.
He had sat down next to Noskalenaeuroph and looked at him. Around his neck he wore a small golden chain but the object sticked to the chain was hidden under the shirt.
“But she doesn’t really know who she is. Or what. I’m sure you suspect that she is more than a usual human, don’t you?”

Noskalenaeuroph heard the words ring in his head, "she healed you, didn't she?"
He grasped his chest again. Although the damage was gone and he was better, his mind replayed that hit over and over again. He could still feel the pain of it, although perhaps the pain was all psychological.
He made a mumbled grunt and did not answer. His defeat was fresh in his head and this person was an enigma to it all.
He heard the bartender say something about her being human.
He scoffed, "Human. No human could attack with that speed. There is something different about her. Something different, but what?"
He looked back to this person beside him. "Sorry, my name is Noskalenaeuroph. And yours is?"
Jander took a seat in one of the corners of the room, dressed in a beautiful white outfit, the lines of the suit of a bright, shining blue. The suit over his slim, agile silouette made him look like a stiletto, like a sharp dagger ready to strike. So, a prophecy, that's what all this vampires are waiting for. I will give them a prophecy. The Bloodied Lord of the Dawn will come back, and he will drag all of them to hell with him.
Slowly the chain of his whipsword started to rattle, the razors of the blade moving, as to warn him about an unseen danger. "Be quiet, my blade, soon you will have what you're looking for. I know you want to spill vampire blood, but tonight I have prepared a different essence to you, I hope you don't mind".
OOC: Ok Haraki, how will you stop vampires from feeding anywhere in a country with twice the population of America? I’m not up to date with how Rave managed this, though it’s her nation and she can do it however she likes… it’s just that with all these vampires around I find it hard to imagine that we’re all drinking blood packs and rat blood. Plus you guys haven’t even stopped crime complete (“Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low”) so I’m assuming it’s possible.
Either way, Varya is hunting for someone (preferably a young man) to feed from, seeing as she is not here to attract attention to herself she will not kill this man (not on purpose) and can easily just stop after taking a couple of pints. She will simply pick up a man in a near by club, make out with him and feed from him in the guise of a “love bite” which is pretty pleasurable and the saliva of the vampires I role-play has regenerative capabilities which cover the wound.
Had this been Free Iuthia or on her homeland she would of drained him of all he’s worth on principal… she doesn’t like men even though she hides her distaste, plus she has lost a lot of her connections to humanity and rarely ever feels remorse. Anyone looking at Varya’s aura they will see black lines tainting the already faint colours of her emotions, which reflects her current boredom. TM me if you feel that you may understand what they mean, but bare in mind they are pretty rare and probably never seen before in Shentavo’s nation.

*Suzaku returned to the commons area, where the person who lost to Sage was at, sitting amongst others. He looked to the barkeep.*
Suzaku: "What does the 'Vaughn' mean to you?"
*It was a random stab in the dark, and Suzaku didn't expect it to yield anything. But it was worth a shot.*

"I'm known as Seth Bowrain these days although I ... na, "he shook his head, "it's not important at the moment. Just another reminiscence. Like the cross."
Seth looked down at the cross and held it with his right hand. His eyes gleamed wet for a moment.
"Only reminiscences." his right hand still holding the cross formed a fist. "But soon they will ..." Seth became aware of where he was and whom he was talking to and did not finish the sentence.
"I'm sorry. It's just that Sage made my thinkings circle around long forgotten things. It is like you said: she is different. More different than you may think. Or she."

The bartender was stunned, he turned around to face the man whom had addressed him. "Vaughn? Michael Vaughn? That was Ravelyn's fiance... He's convinced that somehow they'll both find each other again. The only problem is, is that she is gone...trapped in hell or something like it. Was dragged there by something evil. I've only heard the rumors. It was her against it. She won, and sent it back, but on the way down, it decided to take her with it. Said the chains of the creature pierced through her heart. Vaughn...why would you ask me such a question?"

Noskalenaeuroph grinned sardonically. He ordered drinks for Jander and Seth. He sloutched on the stool.
"So this prophecy what is known about her and why is so important. She seems to be talk here. Why so...what is she?"

The screen flashed once again, displaying Suzaku's number with Sage's right beside it. There were two other numbers as well...Seth's and Noskalenaeuroph. Both fights would take place simultaneously. Sage arose from her bed and made her way, slowely down the stairs. Her boots clicked hard against the wooden floor. She received many glances as she walked down the stairs.
The bartender looked at Noskalenaeuroph. "As far as we can tell she's human. Some say she's the daughter of vampires, others of angels, and others of mortals. I have a different theory however." the more he talked, the more he sounded less and less like a bartender. He looked up as Sage entered the room to see her number displayed amongst three others. "There was a man, that came in here around five years ago. His eyes were blood red, and his hair completely white. He was not old, but just around 25. Demonic blood ran strong through his veins. A sword lay across his back, clearly made in the Underworld. He killed many as he lay his rath upon the underworld. Some think he's a bounty hunter...for some reason...she reminds me of him. Same style of fighting...anyway...why the hell am I telling you all this? Well...I should at least tell you my name. It's Seth..." He said with a slight smile.
((OOC: ... Suzaku doesn't have a number, remember he's not in the tourny. Sorry about that. ^^;; ))
*Suzaku shakes his head, waving a hand dismissively.*
Suzaku: "I ask only to satisfy my own... What is it you mortals call it? Ah yes, curosity."
*He turned his back to the barkeeper, his chin held in one hand.*
Suzaku: "Curoius indeed..." Vaughn was Ravelyn's fiancee... And the chains pierced Ravelyn's heart... Sage said in her dream she was calling the name Vaughn, and her heart was pierced by chains...

"Anything else I can do for you?" the Seth asked. An amulet hung around his neck, and bore the signa of the Shentavoes. He covered it discretly not making a big deal about it.
*Suzaku hmmed softly, his back still to the barkeeper.*
Suzaku: "Nothing more for the moment."

"Something you're not telling me?" he asked in a deep voice, and stopped pouring his drink. "What do you know about her?" He apparently had some motive for finding out about this girl...but why?
*Suzaku waved a hand absently.*
Suzaku: "I know about as much as you do about the girl called Sage."
*A smirk crept across Suzaku's face, although the barkeeper couldn't see it.*

Seth smiled softly. He backed off and went to the computer, ignoring the peoples calls. Never would one think to see Seth here...he wondered where Eclipse was...
He looked on the ocmputer to see all the entries. "One hasn't arrived," he said to himself. "Strange...they should all be here.." He scrolled down the list. As he saw the name that hadn't arrived, his entire face went blank. Dante... he thought to himself. He now became extremely worried for sage, and more so himself. They did not have a pleasant past. No...he couldn't possibly be coming. What would he want with Sage. There was a slight resemblance....but still...
*Suzaku looked towards the board, seeing the four sets of numbers.*
Suzaku: "Looks like Sage is up again. Wonder who she's against this round..."
*Running a hand through his spiky golden blonde hair, Suzaku waits for the fight to start before going in.*

The bartendar turned to him. "Some woman named Varya I beleive." he said, but the worried expression did not leave his face. Dante... Dante...a Shentavo as well. Seth Shentavo, however, did not consider him to be part of the family. Dante was not a vampire in the slightest bit. He was a hybrid...he was half demon. But he had been with them for so long, that he was considered one of them. Nobody knew exactly where he had come from..and him and Seth were not on the best terms. Seth had been the old Adv. Combat teacher at the Shentavo Academy before Ravelyn had died. His only conclusion was that Dante was coming for Sage. What else would bring him in the presence of one he hated. Why the hell would he be interested in Sage though? He began to wonder...
Bah… the one day when Rave isn’t restricted to lunch times and night times (here in England, that’s when your on from what I can tell) I actually have work to do… life’s a bitch. I’ll post later.

Noskalenaeuroph sat drinking his drink and listening in to the conversations. He looked up. On the screen his number appeared again opposing another number. There was also two other numbers on the screen, one which made him shutter.
"I wonder who she will be fighting now?
He grimaced at the thought and finished the rest of his drink quickly.

Sage sat down at the bar, and Seth quickly went over to her. She looked down at the counter top , and saw the lights in the reflection. She was fighting another soon. Varya...sounded interesting. The chains were fastened around her wrists tightly. The blood from before had been washed away. It took her a few moments to notices Seth's presence.
"Can I help you?" he asked softly.
"Not unless you can tell me who I am." She said with a slight frown as she placed her hands on the surface and rested her head atop them.
"Rionardi with a twist of lime sound alright?" He asked with a smile.
She looked up to him. "My favorite... how did you know?"
"I knew someone who bore some resemblence towards you, this was her favorite."
"I see," she said, apparently uninterested.
"What are you?" he asked as he handed the drink to her. "I know it's an odd question but---"
"Human," she said cutting him off. "Why must so many people ask me that?"
"You fight very well," he said careful of his words. "I doubt I could to better...and I teach advanced combat over the summer. Maybe you should drop by sometime."
"Actually, I'm thinking of starting my own school if this tourney ends up the way I hope it will."
"What will you be teaching?"
"Bone Akiedo."
"It's a forgotten art," he said in reply. "I'm beginning to wonder how you know so much, yet so little about yourself."
"Amnesia I guess...I have no recollection of what happened to me before five years ago."
"Any family?"
"None...at least..."
"What..." he persisted. When she didn't answer him, he urged her on. "No, please tell me."
"I have a brother. i'm not sure if he's blood related or anything. I never knew i had any parents....but he's been with me as long as I can remember."
"What's his name?"
"Dante."
Varya was slowly suckling on Josh’s neck outside of the Beat Box nightclub, so far the night hadn’t had much fun with the fight club she attended, but she’d be damned if she was going to go hungry because some stuck up place wasn’t feeding her right. But Josh did the trick, he was twenty something and enjoying some kind of event… the details didn’t matter really, she wasn’t about to ruin it for him; she heard this place had ways of finding out if you left bodies around.
Josh didn’t seem to that brighter lad either, he was a tall blonde haired blue eyed boy with little purpose in his life except to find a girl and score… Varya had seen enough of them to know them by sight and always enjoyed what little vitae they had to offer her. Slowly removing her fangs, Josh let out a sigh of relief… the kiss was a pleasure for men survived to talk about, but then again, Josh would assume it was just another love bite, the saliva would make sure of that by regenerating the skin enough to hide the tell tail marks. Love bite, Varya thought. How ironic.
Fully fed and a little more pink then when see started, she headed back to the fight club. Josh simply stood feeling a little woozy from the slight blood loss. Damn, he thought. I gotta keep of them vodka and cokes.
OOC: Back in 50 minutes... I've gotta get home from work.

"Dante!" Seth yelled at her. She was taking back at his remark. Nearly everyone who came to the bar regularly knew that name. He was infamous. Never lost a fight before. The half demon who damned even the devil. A few people looked up, startled at the name.
"You've heard of him?" she asked questioning him. "I haven't seen him for a while...I've been wondering where he's run off to."
"Dante is considered my half brother..." he said softly, and held out his hand. "My name is Seth. Seth Shentavo."
Sage looked at him for a while, in awe to speak. "You mean he is related to you through---"
"Through ties, not by blood." He said.
She noted the fangs he possessed. "You are no demon...and he is no vampire...Wait.." she said with a pause. "You're sire...was---"
"Ravelyn," he said quickly. He looked at her. There was so much information...too much for him to process. He slowely backed away from her, and went back to bartending, not looking at her.
So...my brother hasn't told me a few things...

Varya entered the dark fight club again and sighed... the surrounding were getting a little old for her liking and the endless chatter about the mortal girl...
"Could she be...?"
"I thought I would never see the day when..."
"I'm telling you, if I could be alive again I would show her a good..."
Same old same old... Don't these people ever get out? Varya thought. If I got excited about ever mortal who put the beat on some of my boys I would have been staked by now... She reached up and moved some of her hair out of her face, looking around for familiar faces... but it seemed they had been caught in the same craze.
Looking up at the board Varya saw that she was next to fight the woman. She smiled a little, one of her fangs revealed, and then continued as though it was nothing.
Time to go and pest the bar man. She was ready enough as it was and she wanted to waste some time.
Jander the Doldûr was hanging from one of the corners of the club's ceiling, the chains and razors of his whipsword floating around him like the web of a giant spider. A spider, that could be a very precise description, a spider waiting for a fly to pass by, a predator waiting for a suitable prey, he said to himself.
He was prepared to watch the new fight of the vampire prophecy, the chosen of the Doldûr, the little mortal girl. He was an elf, but a vampire too, having stalked the nights of countless centuries, hunting his own kin, first the elves for sustenance, then the vampires for revenge. His search for redemption was long and infructuous. His hope was dim and scarce.
But now a new opprtunity arises, if he defeats this vampirelegend, he could attract the attention of his Sire, and finally slay him to erase the curse of his blood. He just watched, waiting for the outcome of the new fight.

Seth looked at Varya. "What can I get you?" he asked, still a little shook up at the news of Dante."It seems your up to fight next. Are you ready for it?" He seemed on edge, and full of energy. He knew why she was so fast...or at least he had speculation. Dante He repeated to himself.
Sage sat at the end of the counter, waiting for something to happen, though not quite sure what.
The barman looked at Varya. "What can I get you?" he asked, still a little shook up at the news of Dante."It seems your up to fight next. Are you ready for it?" He seemed on edge, and full of energy.
"Hm... I suppose, I'm not going to get any better by warming up now am I?" She looked around to see what she could see... but decided that she's seen enough as it is. "No thanks, I've already eaten. But I don't suppose you can tell me something about this girl I'm going to fight? I don't care about what her background is as such... their is enough speculation as it is... I want to know what you think about her, you seem... observant, most barmen are, it's part of your line of work. So tell me, what do you think of her style?" Her voice was more inquisitive now, as though he was the first man in this place she had respect for.
Varya always liked barmen... they knew things, saw things she would always miss. They could sense fights starting and tell you when you've had too many... plus, they are great mathematicians, with all the tabs you have to work out, you have to be. But the most attractive part about them was that they often gave you respect.

"I'm not actually a bartendar...I'm a teacher of combat at the Shentavo Academy. But these people don't know it. I'm Seth," he said looking at her. Then he turned his eyes toward Sage. "That one...I find such an attraction to her. Physically of course...but it feels like there is something deeper. I can't explain it...I beleive she's more than just a girl..." He said softly, looking at her. "Her style...in fighting...exceeds my expectations...her style in more mental terms...priceless."
He pours her a drink anyway, and sets it before her. His cold black eyes looking at her intently. "On the house," he said with a slight smile, then returned to the previous subject. "She's like a vortex..she pulls in everything around her without wanting more to know that who she is."
