The makings of an alliance (ATTN: Unum)

15-10-2003, 22:49
OOC: Ok, to everyone viewing this: This is between Unum Veritas and myself only. No one else needs to post in this thread. It would be very appreciated. If you do post, Unum and I will invade you and beat your @$$!!! Well, not really.......

IC:

Agent Turner stood by the black suburban, awaiting the delegates from Unum Veritas. It was his task to escort them to the Palace in the capitol city of Metropolis Utopia. He looked around and saw that his other agents were doing the same, scanning the area to be sure that no one uninvited decided to participate in this endevor. It wasn't often that another nation's delegates visited the Isolationist Empire, but when they did it was usually for something big.

==================================

Devin Haack stood by the window in the conference room, gazing out at the beach that stood just a mile away from him. As Chairman of Foreign Affairs, it was his job to deal with other nations. More recently, it hadn't been all good things, but today would change that. The task before him today was to come to an alliance with another nation, and those were prize tasks indeed. He hoped that good things would happen today in this very room.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sterling O'Connor stepped out of the door of the Mach 3 VIP Transport and walked down the stairs under the ever-watchful eyes of his protective agents. Although no one could ever tell just by looking at him, Minister O'Connor was extremely excited. He had hopes of becoming the High Chancellor of Unum Veritas, and setting up a treaty such as this would definitely help his status in the public eye. He walked towards the black vehicles, obviously meant for his use. Behind him, the transport jet was being wheeled to a protected bunker for his return trip. An orderly carrier O'Connor's bags, and his protective detail formed up around him. As he approached the Suburban, he saw a man in dark sunglasses standing near the driver's door.

"You must be Agent Turner."

OOC-Sorry for the multiple posts these damn servers are forcing on me....

"Indeed. If you will sir, we will transport you to the palace. I assume your ride was decent?"

The drive over didn't take very long. All the participants got out, with Agent Turner leading the way to the conference room. There had been no expense spared for this event. They entered the conference room, where Devin Haack and a few servents were waiting.

Devin walked over and extended his hand. "On behalf of the government, and the people, of the Isolationist Empire, I welcome you to our city, and hope that what is accomplished here will be benifitial to both of us for a thousand generations. Please, have a seat," as he motioned at the table set up.

"So, let us begin. I'd like to start out by extending the thanks of our government for your help in building our naval bases. It is a great project of ours, and to have your help is greatly welcomed.

But now to the issue at hand. My government views your nation as a friend, a very helpful one at that. We wish to extend that friendship into other aspects between our two nations, besides assistance with building projects. We would like to offer you trade discounts on any and all of our products we export, as well as the status of Most-Favored Nation. In return, we'd would like the same from your government. In this way we'd abolish tarrifs between our nations, and thus our exports and industires would grow exponentionally." He picks up a drinking glass, waiting to see what Mr. O'Connor had to say.

"The Armed Republic of Unum Veritas is, as ever, interested in fostering long lasting friendships within the international community, and particularly with countries of similar interests," Minister O'Connor began, "We too wish to formalize our friendship with the Isolationist Empire."

Minister O'Connor leaned back in his chair as he watched his colleague across the table.

"The Armed Republic of Unum Veritas proposes a mutual-defense treaty, that covers diplomatic and economical facets as well. However, the Isolationist Empire should be made known of the fact that Unum Veritas belongs to a regional military, and therefore has only naval forces. If the Veritasean government ever sees fit to enter into an armed conflict, then the other branches of the military from the other countries in the CDOM region would come to its aid. Therefore, through the proposed agreement, the Isolationist Empire would receive protection from several other countries as well. Unum Veritas is prepared to offer an additional 5% discount to the Isolationist Empire on any purchases made at the Veritas Naval Store. That ought to bring the total discount to 20%. We will also place at least half our military to defend the Empire, should the need arise, however our government will retain discretion over troop deployment and command. Is this acceptable?"

Devin listened to his counterpart from Unum. All he heard was pleasing, as it was what he was trying to accomplish for his government. He nearly choked on the water he was drinking when Mr. O'Connor pledged half of Unum's military to defend the Empire. That caught him unexpectedly. Part of this alliance would pledge military forces to each other, but a pledge of half right at the start was beyond what the Empire expected at the start. It was not, however, something that would be rejected. Devin, regained in composure, started to speak:

"Mr. O'Connor, your government is very gracious indeed. To pledge such a military of your own to our protection is a matter that is beyond our expectations! My government has no objection to seeking counsel from your regional allies; in fact, if it were ever needed, we encourage it. We do not start wars unneccessarily, and I want to stress that. Our Empire is not imperialistic. Every nation, be it island or other, is in the Empire by their own free choice, made so by their own citizens. We have no need to subjegate other people, and would not ask you nor your government or allies to do so.

As for ourselves, we would also like to pledge military assistance when it is needed. Being apart of NATO, we would inform them as you would your regional allies. We cannot promise their support, but if needed we would ask if such a time arises. Our military, as you may know as well, focuses mainly on naval power such as yourself, though we do have other forces to defend or offer if needed. If they are needed, we would offer them under terms of our alliance.

As a show of friendship to your nation and in high hopes of this alliance, we are prepared to offer you plans and production rights to militaristic hardware we have bought or are in the process of developing. Of course, through this alliance we would share all things of such nature, for the betterment of both our nations military. But on the table now," Devin reaches into his briefcase and pulls out a small stack of papers "are the plans to our supercavitating torpedoes. I know your navy will put these to great use. They are now yours."

Devin sat back in his chair, pleased with how this was going for both his government and Unum's.

Minister O'Connor had not expected to have military plans handed to him in the midst of a negotiation, so he merely did the most logical thing he could do; he picked the papers up with a gracious nod and placed them in his own briefcase.

"Unum Veritas is very pleased to see that these terms are appropriate to the Isolationist Empire. Our government has actually recently been thinking of joining large alliances such as NATO. Formalizing the friendship with your country is seen as the first of many steps in fostering ongoing relations with foreign powers. My government would, under the articles of the treaty, be willing to provide the Isolationist Empire with the schematics to the pride and joy of our fleets: the HVC, or Hovercraft Aircraft Carrier. We would also be willing to reduce trade tariffs by 50% between our two countries, and will work to streamline both our countries foreign policies so that we can appear to be a solid block to the outside community."

At this point, Minister O'Connor decided to ask for the discussions to be adjourned for the day. He had an appointment with the Isolationist chief-of-state in just an hour, and he needed to get ready for that meeting.

The Veritasean delegation stood, shook hands with their counterparts across the table, and then followed Turner out the door and back into the black Suburbans. Once they reached the office of the Preator [title or machine or what?], Minister O'Connor motioned to an aid who had been carrying a thin, rectangular box this entire time. The aid handed the box to the Minister, and O'Connor turned to the Preator.

"Mr. Preator [I guess....LoL], this is a gift from High Chancellor Sparrow. May it symbolize our unity in arms and in peace for generations to come."

And with these words, Sterling O'Connor, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Armed Republic of Unum Veritas and Knight Commander of the Order of Truth, withdrew an extremely ornate sword from the box in his hands. The sheath was covered in etchings, from a dead language, that proclaimed the invulnerability of the sword's bearer. As O'Connor withdrew the polished blade, it flashed in the light, and yet more inscriptions were seen. The blade had a graceful curve to it, but looked oddly sinister.

"Sir, this is the blade of the Knights of the Order of Truth in my home country. For years the Knights have been tasked with protecting the leaders and ensuring peace throughout the nation. Very few people are able to join this Order, and is one of the few things that politics cannot play into, and therefore is a great honor for its members. I myself am a Knight Commander in this Order, and the High Chancellor himself has requested that I induct you into this most noble of Orders. If you would please take a knee."

The Preator's security personnel looked a bit nervous at the thought of having their principal kneel before a foreigner with a sharp sword, but were reluctant to interfere. And so, as Sterling O'Connor dubbed the Preator a Knight of the Order of Truth, unofficial history was made between the two countries, and perhaps a more lasting bond than any piece of paper or parchment could ever form. The Preator stood and O'Connor handed him the sheathed sword and the two shook hands. There were no cameras around to record the event, but all present knew they were not likely to forget this moment.

OOC: Yeah, Preator is the title of my nation's leader. Got it from Star Trek.

Preator Matzn pushed himself off his knee, then graciously bowed his head to Mr. O'Connor.

"I am deeply honored by this, Mr. O'Connor. Sadly, I have nothing of similar value to return such a favor. The only thing I could offer your Chacellor is this," as he pulled out a diamond from one of his desk drawer's. The diamond was about half the size of a fist, shaped like an egg. Light glistened off it's many surfaces, reflecting it to all parts of the room. On it was etched the flag of the Dominion of Isolationist People, and the words 'Peace Through Power Achieves Failure, and Absolute Power Destroys All Hope of Peace.'

Preator Matzn took Mr. O'Connors hand and placed the precious diamond in it. "This is a gift to your Chancellor. It was found by my great-grandfather many generations ago, when he was a young man exploring caves in the mountains. When he became Preator after his father, a wise man once said to him those very words etched on the stone. He took those words to heart and had them engraved onto the stone to remember them for all time. This stone had been passed down to each new Preator ever since, so that we all may remember those words. I give this now to you, to give to your Chancellor, so that he may remember the bond of peace we have created between our two nations."

Preator Matzn clasped Mr. O'Connors hand firmly, so that he would grasp the fullness of the token he had just recieved. Then he looked back at his eyes: "Go now, and take that to your Chancellor, and tell him of all that has been accomplished here. Also, tell him that in honor of this occasion, he is invited to the Empire, as I intend to throw a celebration and feast for all in honor of our new alliance. When he is here will we then sign what we have already agreed upon."

OOC-Sorry, I tried posting earlier but RL things kept interrupting...grrrrr

IC-Minister O'Connor took the enormous stone in his hand and shook the Preator's hand in his other. O'Connor's aides and himself then left the room to return to the airport. One hour later they were heading back to Unum Veritas at Mach 3. O'Connor took the chance to catch some sleep, because he knew there would be little of it in his near future.

As soon as the plane touched down on Veritasean soil, O'Connor was whisked away to Copeland Castle, the High Chancellor's customary home/office. O'Connor was used to meeting with the Chancellor, because it was his job to counsel the leader of Unum Veritas on affairs of state.
"Ah, Sterling, how was your trip?" High Chancellor Sparrow inquired as soon as the door opened to admit his Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"Highly productive, your honor [OOC-the ruled of UV is customarily a very experienced judge elected by the people, so as to provide fair and balanced leadership, rather than corrupt politicians, therefore the High Chancellor is referred to as "justice" or "your honor"], " was O'Connor's reply.

"Good good, and what of the treaty? How are our friends in the Isolationist Empire?"

"The treaty was extremely easy to iron out. In fact, your presence has been requested at a celebration to be held in the Empire, your honor." O'Connor said tiredly.

"Oh nonsense, we cannot expect our friends to take all the burden on themselves. They hosted the negotiations and therefore it is only fair that we should host a celebration," the High Chancellor said.

"Chancellor, it is of course up to you, however this is not always wise in dealing with sovereign powers, particularly not in matters of this sort. We could make a request of Isolationist People, but they could take offense." O'Connor cautioned.

"No offense is meant by this, I'm just attempting to be fair," Chancellor Sparrow protested, while O'Connor contemplated the fact that having a judge as chief-of-state was not always advantageous.

"Fine, I shall have the request drafted this afternoon and sent out immediately. Is there anything else?" O'Connor asked tenatively.

"Well I imagine you are tired now, so you can draft your full report as soon as you have a chance. Other than that, have that request sent off and then get some rest.

"This was more than O'Connor had expected so he hastily withdrew and had his driver take him straight to his home. On the way he telephoned the Veritasean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and gave the instructions for the message to Isolationist People.

To the honorable Preator of the Empire of Isolationist People:

Due to your extraordinary kindness shown in offering the use of your facilities for the duration of talks between our two esteemed nations, the High Chancellor of Unum Veritas has requested the chance to return the favor and give you and your people a taste of Veritasean hospitality in a week-long ceremony to celebrate the accomplishment between our two countries.

Signed,
Sterling O'Connor

Devin was at home, playing with his two children. He wished he had more time with them, for they were always asking why he had to go and why he had to work so much. His job wasn't always a fair one, yet after recent events he was more than happy to continue to do his job if it meant giving his children a better home to grow up in. "Peace in our time," someone once said. Devin hoped that he was helping that happen, for his children.

His wife came outside holding the phone. "Honey, its your secretary. Says its important." Devin kissed his wife on the forehead as he took the phone. He listened. "I'll be there in half an hour." He looked at his wife, who was wondering what he needed to do now. "I'll be back in a few hours." And with that he was out the door.

Half an hour later he walked into his office. His secretary handed him the message from the Veritasiean government. He read it through, as a smile slowly crossed his face. "Is the Preator around?" He got a nod, and left to walk this to the Preator. He knocked on the door, and then entered.

"Sir, we just got this from our new allies. They want to host a celebration in honor of this, since we hosted the negotiations. I think this would be good for you, to be seen by the people talking with our new allies. It shows your interested in everyone's safety by personally going to make peace. Of course your security detail will go, but it could probably be the minimum."

Preator Matzn nodded his approval. "I hope this didn't bother you much, since it is late. Everyone needs some time away from the office." Devin smiled at his leader. "Its an honor to serve, especially when we're making peace." The Preator smiled. "How are your children? I hope that you got to spend some time with them?" Devin nodded, but said nothing.

To the Honorable Chancellor of Unum Veritas:

It would be our honor to attend your great nation. Preator Matzn is looking foward with great enthusiasm, as is our nation. We gladly accept, and hope that you enjoyed your time spent in our nation. The delegation of Preator Matzn, myself, Dominus Mark and 4 security personnel will depart tomorrow (RL) to attend this celebration.

Very Truley Yours,

As soon as O'Connor received the message from Mr. Haack, he faxed a copy to Copeland Castle, and set a staggering amount of work in motion. Everything in the city appeared to be cleaned, decorations were hung in exorbetant amounts, and the finest chefs in the country found serious-looking men with firearms outside their doors requesting their presence in Tol Eklesia, the capital city of Unum Veritas. The grand ballroom in Copeland Castle received extremely special attention, and an impressive VIP reception area was erected at the military airbase on the outskirts of the city. Not only were delegates from Isolationist People invited, but the heads-of-state throughout the region of CDOM were invited as well . The Knights of the Order of Truth were called upon to act as honorary guard for all the foreign dignitaries. [i]UVS Glycerine, one of the newest hover carriers in the Veritasean fleet was pulled into Tol Eklesia's harbor, in preparation for massive air shows. Another carrier was stationed off the Veritasean coast to provide fighter escort for the final length of the visitors' flights.
24-10-2003, 18:20
(yeah, its alright with me to invite your regional allies. I haven't decided, but I'm gonna let NATO know about this. Up to them to come if they want, but there's a civil war thread going that alot of them are occupied with. Also, we gonna continue it in this thread or in another?)

Devin arrived early the next morning at the palace in order to leave on time to Unum Veritas. He walked in through the executive enterence, flashing his id badge to the guard there. Though known by sight, everyone still had to show their id to get into the palace.

Preator Matzn was sitting at his desk sipping his coffee, going over a speech to give later on this trip. He scribbled something on the side, then looked up to see Devin walk in. He smiled, "Ready to see the fruits of your labor?" he asked. Devin just smiled and nodded back, ready to get going.

An hour later at the airport, the entourage was settling in for the flight (they're flying over in a Boeing 747, think of Air Force One). There were the usual accompanying reporters in the back, already typing their first drafts of reports to their respective organizations. Devin hardly noticed the engines start or the moving of the plane. He pulled out a novel, and relaxed to continue his reading of which, he thought to himself, he was getting all to little time to do.

"Isolationist Flight 273, this is Archangel lead, do you copy?" a Veritasean pilot said over the guard channel from his seat in the cockpit of an X-29 fighter jet.

"We copy Archangel lead," the pilot of the Isolationist transport responded.

"We thought you might like some company on your final approach to Tol Eklesia."

"Well, I don't suppose we'd refuse it, and its always nice to have armed friends around."

"Heheheh, Roger that 723," and with that the X-29 leader and the rest of his flight took up positions off the wings of the VIP transport.

Fifteen minutes later, the Isolationist jet touched down at a military base on the outskirts of Tol Eklesia, and the flight of X-29's did a formation flight over the base, before returning to their carrier.

Minister O'Connor was awaiting the Isolationist entourage inside the VIP reception area, and once the plane finished its taxiing, and the door began opening, O'Connor hopped into one of the limousines on standby, and was driven out to the plane.
27-10-2003, 00:32
Devin was gently awakened by the flight attendant. Didn't realize he'd fallen asleep, he was slightly embarrassed. Rubbing his face, he put his book away and collected his things. The Preator was ready to go, along with his security personel. The entourage walked down the stairs that were pulled beside the door, down to a waiting honor guard and a few Veritasean dignitaries.

As the formalities were going on, a limo pulled up and out got Mr. O'Connor. Devin walked over to him. "A pleasure to see you again, Mr. O'Connor," he said as he shook his hand. "I must say, this is the first time I've been to your nation, and it is quite lovely. I am quite interested in any tour you could give me, if there isn't one already planned."

While this little exchange was going on, the Preator walked up to a podium set up for this occasion, to give a small speech whose only purpose was for soundbites for the reporters that had tagged along. The speech gave a few hints about what to expect in the coming week, but most of it was formal diplomatic talk. It was over in less than three minutes, in order to avoid being out in the heat for too long in such a formal suit as the Preator was wearing. He turned from the podium, greeted Mr. O'Connor as well, and introduced Dominus Mark, Chairman of Defense. The two shook hands as well, after which Mr. O'Connor led them to the limo.

OOC-You read Tom Clancy, don't you?

IC-The limo sped towards the accomodations which had been provided for the Isolationist delegation, so that the visiting dignitaries would have a chance to freshen up before that afternoon's festivities. Meanwhile, aboard the UVS Glycerine, five F-14E Ultra Tomcats were being given a final inspection by their respective crew chiefs. That afternoon, the Tomcats (the newest fighter in the Veritasean fleet) would be giving a massive air show and mock air battle. Aboard other carriers, X-29's, and Sea Raptors were also being checked out and their pilots going over a few last minute details.

Two hours later, the Isolationist dignitaries were picked back up by limos, and driven to a very large, open field on the outskirts of Tol Eklessia. Stands (a comfortable kind, of course) had been erected throughout the field, as well as refreshment tents and other necessary provisions. Ten minutes later, after everyone had been seated and quieted by a single trumpeteer, a radio call was sent to the five Ultra Tomcats circling off the Veritasean coast, that all was ready. The five jets formed up on their leader, and sped off towards the large clearing. It was tradition that every air show in Unum Veritas opened and closed with a variation on the famous "Missing Man" maneuver. One of the planes separated from the other four, flew a ways off, and then, when the main flight of four was directly over the clearing, the Tomcat which had separated itself from the group, flew perpendicular and just above the main flight, simulating an attacking fighter. The "enemy" continues to travel perpendicular to the main flight, as the fighter that was closest to its incoming dropped out of the formation to symbolize a downed fighter. Meanwhile, the fighter on the opposite side breaks formation, and chases after the "enemy" plane, while the center two continue on in their path. . After this was completed, the 5 Ultra Tomcats reformed, and began a mock air battle with a flight of X-29's and Sea Raptors.

OOC: Yeah, I love Clancy. Just finished reading "The Bear and the Dragon". Can't wait to get the most recent one.

Preator Matzn, Dominus Mark, and Devin Haack all watched in amusement at the airial manuvers being performed above them. Preator Matzn was the most interested, being a former fighter pilot himself, though in the much older F-16's. He watched as the pilots did their thing, and thought to himself that they were indeed very good at what they did. He wandered into his memories a little, remembering what it was like to have such a powerful machine strapped to your back with only a stick between your legs to control it.

Dominus, also being a military man, was also enjoying the show, but didn't think they were as good as they were hyped up to be by the Veritiseans. Being the Chairman of his Empire's defense, he was paid to think that his own military was the best there was at everything. Still, he did enjoy watching other people do dangerous things for his amusement.

As the mock battle raged above them, Preator Matzn leaned over to the Chancellor. "I wish we could have had our best pilots here. It would probably have been benificial to both of us. Unfortunately, circumstances required them to be on mission elsewhere with one of our NATO allies. However, perhaps soon they could train with your pilots. Of course, I'd have to bet money that my boys could teach a thing or two to your pilots." He gave the Chacellor a playful grin, letting him know that he'd take up a bet anytime the Chacellor wished. He then turned his attention back up to the air battle.

"We might just have to find out how that wager would end..." the High Chancellor whispered back. However at this moment all conversations came to an abrupt halt as all the Sea Raptors and Ultra Tomcats broke the sound barrier above them, as the jets sped away at top speed, leaving only the X-29's in the immediate area. The X-29 is the most maneuverable fighter in the Veritasean inventory, and one of the most maneuverable fighters in the world. Only the most dedicated and most daring pilots were given control of these machines, and the ones above the field right now were among the best in the world.

This portion of the air show would consist of acrobatics, before the final Missing Man formation was flown. The X-29's began a series of vertical dives, and almost completely vertical rises, as well as very dangerous and complicated flips, stalls, spins, and corkscrews. The audience found it hard to watch all 5 planes at once, so the jets formed up (on command from a ground-based radio controller) and began going through synchronized maneuvers. Finally the battle was finished, and the X-29's reinacted the Missing Man formation, and sped off to their carriers.

After the applause had finally died down, the Preator and the rest of the Isolationist entourage were escorted back to their quarters so that they could rest up for the following day's festivities.

The group made their way to their individual rooms, still partly excited at the show they had just seen. Since it was a little early, the group decided to order some snacks to their rooms, and play some card games. After several hours of this, the last game they played was five-card poker. As luck would have it, one of the security men won the round. After that, the game broke up as everyone headed to bed, tired and curious as to what the next day held.

The group got up and went to breakfast, engaging in some small talk as they went through the buffett line, trying all the different treats laid out for them. Once they had filled themselves, they headed towards the building's entrance to their transportation that would take them to the day's events.

ooc: sorry, usually would be more detailed, but can't think at the moment as I'm really tired.

Today would be a gigantic festival in honor of the visiting dignitaries. Artists would run booths, performers would entertain crowds throughout the capital, and several parades were scheduled throughout the day. The convoy of Suburbans sped off, towards the entrance to the festival. The diginitaries would be allowed to roam at their leisure for the remainder of the day, but security (both in uniform and out) would be heavy. The Knights of the Order of Truth would also be present as a further deterrent to anyone looking to make mischief.

The festival was being held in downtown Tol Eklessia, and the architecture was very representative of overall Veritasean culture. Modern conveniences mixed with 18th century European style buildings were a common occurence, as well as the small, cozy pubs throughout the city. All citizens had been instructed to give the Isolationist entourage whatever they wished, free of charge, and that the Veritasean government would compensate them at a later date.

OOC-Now, have fun with the festival....LoL

OOC: Sorry, I've been working on an essay I have due on monday and its taken most of my time. Now that its done, back to this.

The Isolationist entourage slowly wandered down the street, taking in all the exhibits, artists and performers displaying their talents. There was a booth in which you won a prize for popping a ballon with a dart, and Dominus tried his hand at it. He wasn't very good, but after three tries he won a big stuffed Garfield. He'd give it to his son when he got home. The Preator gave Dominus a hard time for taking three tries to win, being that Dominus was the Chairman of Defense. "Well Preator, why don't you try your hand at something, so we can see what you win?" Dominus replied back. Wandering down the street some, Preator Matzn found a booth he liked, one where a person got two shoots with a basketball to make a basket. Sadly the Preator missed both shots, which incured the unending jokes made by both Dominus and Devin, much to the Preator's disappointment.

Moving on down the streets, the group stopped at an open-air performer doing a comic routine. Very much fans of comedians, the Isolationist's stopped for half an hour to listen to him rant and rave about all the problems in the world, and then give his humerous opinion on how to fix all of it. Thoroughly pleased the group moved on down one of the side streets, gazing at the old houses still lining the sides of the streets. It had been a while since any of them had seen Victorian-style houses (I'm assuming that's what you meant by 18th century European buildings). Most of those that had been in the Empire had been torn down for the building of more modern and economical buildings, though a few were left standing for museam puposes.

(I'm not done yet, but I have to do something else. I'll be back to post more on this later.)

As the entourage continued down the street they were confronted with fire breathers, snake charmers, and any number of other forms of entertainment until at last they reached what was normally a 4-way intersection where continuous sword fights were taking place (yes, I have an obsessions with swords, lol). Some combatants had fencing rapiers, others Japanese katanas, others Scottish Claymores, and any other style of sword imaginable.

The entourage was thoroughly impressed by the display of talent the performers had dealing with the various types of swords. They stopped to watch, and were duly impressed.

ooc: I'll write more later. I just found out a friend of mine was murdered last night, so I'm not really in the mood to do anything right now. Sorry.

(continuing)

Being one who took a fasination with a sword, Dominus went over to one of the dueling persons, making sure both the fighters clearly saw him before approaching near their flinging swords. Once the dueling had stopped, Dominus neared one and whispered in his ear. Nodding, the fighter handed his sword, a Samuri Katana, to Dominus, then backed off towards the crowd on the sidelines. The other fighter was a little hesitant, as he wasn't sure if he should do battle with a foreign dignitary, but he got a nod from his Unum leaders that it would be alright.

Facing each other, the two bowed in the cerimonial way. They then took to their stances, seeing who would strike first. It would be Dominus. Swinging his sword in a slashing move across the stomach of his opponent, it was an easily blocked move, but one that also had a followup move. This Dominus quickly did, spinning his body left while holding the sword above his head, bringing it down diagonally across the front of his opponent. His advasary must have anticipated such a move, as he blocked Dominus's move with his sword. The Unum man then thrust towards Dominus, forcing Dominus off-balance for a brief moment. But Dominus also took advantage of his apparent weakness, forcing the Unum sword up and away from his body while it was still being thrust towards him. The thrusts, perries, and sword duel went on for several minutes, with both men showing great form and staminia. Several times each man came close to beating the other by knocking his opponents sword away. In the end, the Dominus's opponent was able to knock his sword away with a final swing.

With the duel over, Dominus retured to his companions, only to be the butt of several jokes due to his losing the duel. Preator Matzn even joked about replacing the Defense Chairman since he couldn't even win a sword fight. But it was all in jest. The three Isolationist's, with their Unum escort and companions, wandered around more to take in the fesitivities of their ally.

OOC- I'm very sorry about your friend.

The street was crowded with various artisans peddling their one-of-a-kind creations to the crowd of people. On one side street, an archery range had been erected, and on another a standard shooting range. Yet another held a rather unique game. In a rather large tub filled with water, floated exact miniature replicas of warships. Each destroyer, cruiser, or sub was remote controlled and were divided into a Red team and a Blue team. Each team tried to destroy all of the other team's ships by launching fake missiles that would paint an enemy ship and cause it to be declared "sunk". There was a similar game further along the street involving remote controlled fighter planes.

At every corner, and interspersed throughout the crowd, the Isolationist delegation saw members of the Order of Truth, in full decorative livery and armed with the usual sword, as well as a radio and a concealed firearm. Snipers were perched on the tops of surrounding buildings and every so often the noise of the crowd was drowned out as a police helicopter overflew the area. Security checkpoints were set up at every entrance to the festival; the Veritaseans were taking no chances regarding security of their Isolationist guests.

Dominus, even though he had just lost the sword fight, was very interested in how the Veritaseans used these 'toys' to simulate battles. A very uniqiue, if not highly technical for simple people to use. He watched the Veritasean kids there playing against each other. At the moment, the 'red' team was beating the 'blue' team, though 'blue' was putting up a good fight. Moving over to what appeared to be the 'blue' leader, he whispered something into his ear. They kids eye's grew big as he manuvered his ship around, following what Dominus had directed him to do. The 'red' team was a little curious, as they saw that Dominus had whispered something to the kid. A couple of 'red' ships launched a few missiles at the 'blue' ship, with some landing harmlessly around the ship. But one 'red' missile hit the 'blue' ship and it 'sunk.'

Yet the surprise was next up. While the one 'blue' ship had been the focus of attention for some of the 'red' force, several 'blue' subs had been able to move close to 'red' ships for definate hits and 'sank' almost half a dozen 'red' ships before the 'red' kids realized they had been duped. One of the 'red' kids tried to splash water on Dominus, but he had already slipped back into the crowd, a big grin on his face.

They moved on and watched an aerial battle take place, but this time Devin and the Preator held Dominus back from messing around again, thus saving more kids the horror's of becoming prey to Dominus's tactics. Devin and the Preator wanted the kids to have fun, not go up against someone who's job was to come up with battle tactics.

Moving on down the faire, the three waved to the Knights of the Order and Truth, admiring their outfits and insignia that represented both history and protection at the same time.

Getting hungry, they headed over towards some food stands, each trying a different dish that supposedly offered many varieties of Veritasean cuisine. Bottled water washed down the food, which all found very appitising, though they would always prefer their own food.
