Location: A back alley in inner city Tokyo

Police officer Satoshi Masaki leaned against the wall, clutching his side in one hand and his gun in the other. How had this happened? It was supposed to have been a simple geisha ring. No one had said anything about tobacco smuggling, the Yakuza, or prototype energy weapons. Now, as far as Satoshi knew, his entire team was dead and the path back to the police station would be a lethal gauntlet. Come to think of it, the trip up here had been curiously safe. No gang attacks, no prostitutes even...

The whole world seemed to have gone insane. All the major cities in the world had suddenly simply been taken over by gangs. Tokyo, Moscow, Beijing, New York, Los Angeles, London, Sao Paolo, Rio de Janero... the only thing holding any of them together was the efforts of the rapidly dwindling inner city police forces. They maintained some semblance of law and order, meanwhile taking in victims of the new order and all the time hoping for reinfocements. Not that that would ever happen, of course - the police bosses lived lives of luxury in country mansions, accepted awards for outstanding achievments, attended charity events which cost more to put on than the amount raised, and had no idea what went on in reality. In the big cities, there were three powers: the local police chief, the main pimp, and the crime baron. After that, there were various petty gang leaders who cared for nothing more than beating each other up.

Suddenly it hit Satoshi. The whole thing had been a trap! The geisha ring, the arrival of the Yakuza leader across town, police reinforcements at the docks... all had been part of a plan to lure the cops away from the station and leave it vulnerable. If it fell, that would be the last bastion of law and order in Tokyo gone. From there, the plage would likely spread across all of Japan. Satoshi cheked his gun. Only 16 bullets left - half a round. This would be tough.
