Reichstag Council Building
Main Gathering Hall; 12:24 pm
It had only been a few minutes since a majority of the council members had gathered but already the shouts of debate could well be heard through the emptied halls of the Reichstag. The meeting was formulated in secret as to prevent the media from even gathering outside the building, as ordered by the Fuhrer.
The refurnished Gathering Hall was more spaced than it had been, with seats to accomadate the additional nine council members as well as to hold a grander audience for public hearings. At the southern wall, stood erect the oak-rich stand in which the lead member of the Reichstag, usually the nation's chancellor, would stand along with four other high ranking officials. The entrance ways were guarded, as usual, but this time by SS guardsmen, and even three state troopers instead of the normal security force. Along the western wall flew the flags of nations within the DoP, even those of resigned members. Along the eastern wall was a medium-sized version of the Nazi battle flag, representation of the Dreisden Wehrmacht (armed forces) though the navy used it more often; many were confused on why the banner is flown during what is supposed to be just a mere session.
Many of those who had entered had already known what the matter was, some even had long already made up their minds, determined not to be swayed by any opposition. The stands remained unoccupied by the Reichstag leaders, though it was expected of them to always appear last. More members entered the building, as the level of chatter amongst the officials increased,
"Oh, this better be good..." muttered Ulrich Gutenburg (age 65) as he straightened his tie before sitting down. Ulrich was among the most elderly of members and was among the most respected within the government. He stood at 6' 3" with brown eyes and grey hair. He was among the those that supported the active participation in the war, though he wasn't as war hungry as he had been when he was in the army. He coughed a few times as he prepared to move up to get a glass of water,
"Ah..gutentag (sp), mein kamerade! So good to see you." Ulrich need only hear the voice to know who it was, he turned, and with a smile, gave large handshake to the man who sat next to him,
"Gutentag, herr Steinburg. As it is good to see you as well..How are the wife and kids?" The 54-year old smiled and received the handshake.
"The wife is as strong as ever..As for Daniel, he is doing fine as a commander of a fighter squadron last time I spoke with him.." The 5' 8" man had served eight years of his life within the Luftwaffe and was proud of every moment and every mission he flew, he was another who supported Dreisden's entrance into the war,
"So, you feel as if this will be just quick and painless?" Ulrich asked, himself curious as to know how the situation would turn out. Steinburg responded,
"I am not so sure, my friend. Times have changed as well as many of our motives, I doubt some of the members are so willing as to go along with such...plus, we have those elves within the Reichstag and who knows what they'll side with.."
At the eastern entrance, there was a clatter of footsteps as they steadily approached the Gathering Hall. SS officer, Hans Putri stood straighted up, with his back arched a bit forward as two of his superiors passed on by along with a series of tall figures that followed the two men.
