Santa Barbara

This is basically a loose set of rules for the Colonization. And, its an overview of the Santa Barbara colonies as they are in 1560 AD. All this is in reference to the main thread here:

Basic Rules:
The Nations get to roleplay the colonial governments, as well as their own. They can roleplay characters from any nation, however. I’ll keep a record and fill in details about the colonies and the colonization as they happen, and try to update the map as well. Feel free to name any unnamed islands and explore. When I post I’ll put the year up, progressing the history forward, giving a “multi-generational” feel hopefully. Some years may have more RPs and RP potential than others, so time will be fluid, but chronologically ordered.
Basically the nations participating will influence the present-day Santa Barbarian culture and history, but depending on how the RP goes, to different amounts (Get yer colonies here! Fight for them, bargain, or just send a bunch of guys and gals and breed a population! Out-do yer neighbors!) Anything goes... within reason.
Nation A (Red) Colonies: Currently, the only nation with viable economies in Santa Barbara, and having the largest population and the most local power, to protect the wealth it extracts from the virgin lands.
Carvajal- The wealthiest and largest, serving as the main transshipment point between Santa Barbara and the colonial nations to the northwest. Like Cabrillo, it has a Governor, a well-armed garrison, and high demand for goods from their homeland. A bastion for aristocrats, it has a large seaside fortress, de Domingo. It is also home to one of the largest pearl fisheries in the world. Population 18,000.
Cabrillo- Sometimes called the Carvajal of the East, Cabrillo is noted for being 50 kilometers inland, along the Goleta River, and having a large agricultural base. Its situated in the rolling grassy hills protected by low mountains, perfect for defense, and populated with goats, chickens and noble owned/ridden horses. Population 10,500.
Del Playa: A large, important agricultural community based on tobacco, olives, and potatoes. Silver mines inland. Population 14,200.
Larga- A tiny but important transshipment point between the Santa Barbara Main and the island colonies to the northeast. Population 800, and over the years the town has faded in and out of existence as disease takes its toll.
Trigo: A source of gold, Trigo remains small in these early years due to hard-to-get clean water, disease and starvation. Trigo is an important early trading town, having at times both high supply and high demand. Population 2450.
Santa Cecita: The large island is cooler than the colonies to the southwest, and rugged, rocky terrain. The port of Santa Cecita is in one of the few natural harbors, but it doesn’t see much traffic other than as a base for smugglers and those foolish enough to try to settle its harsh terrain. Permanent population less than 500.
Nation B Colonies:
No colonies yet. Instead, traders, smugglers, pirates and renegades make their living off the new colonies, while explorers search for gold, silver, furs, and other valuable resources. Being so distant from their homelands, however, they are quick to make friends where they can.
Nation C (Green) Colonies:
Welbach*: A small river outpost. Population 1045. No governor.
Harrisville: A stagnating colony, beset currently with plague. Population 3500.
Nation D (Purple) Colonies:
Smithtown: far inland west of Cabrillo and upriver of Welbach. A rugged frontier full of the hints of mysterious stone ruins and unholy presence to the south. Population is 800, arrived on just six different ships over the past 16 years. Like Welbach, Harrisville and Larga, it requires regular shipments of food at dear costs, because no agriculture has been successfully set up yet.
Any OOC discussions, questions can go here. Please no spammers or postwhores.
*Nation C and D colonies can be renamed according to their cultures. Nation A ones are kinda fixed at Spanish (or pseudo-Spanish) though.
