Raysian Aerospace Research: Heavy Supersonic Cargo Plane

15-10-2003, 01:57
In this thread, Raysian Aerospace will document its experiments in a heavy surpersonic cargo plane. For starters, the testbed will be a Raysian Aero RT-1709-X10 Cargo Plane, 230 feet long. The jumbo jet's airframe is already strong enough to sustain high speeds, but it is not powerful enough to reach supersonic speeds. The testbed has been outfitted with three newer Pulse-Detonation/Jet Hybrid engines, especially made for this project.

This is the RT-1709-X10... the actual testbed has sharper edges and more aerodynamic features... it's less "rounded"

The Pulse-detonation/Jet Hybrid engines operate on a larger scale than the ones Raysia has been using in it's state-of-the-art fighters.

The 3 REPH-1999x Test Engines each put out a force of 170,000 lbs of force each on normal output at full throttle, and with post-combustion pulse detonation, a cumulative force of nearly 200,000 lbs each, totalling up to a maximum power output of 600,000 lbs. This is without a doubt the most powerful jet engine system ever made, but its large scale demands this. The engines consume an enormous amount of fuel, but not too much greater than the Raysian Aero RB-225 Megafortress Bomber.

This bed was created to test the possibilities of actually creating a super-sonic heavy cargo plane... although Raysia's current technology can reach a speed of Mach .95 on 6 engines, this jet is expected to reach an astounding speed of Mach 1.3.

The testbed will be launched very soon, and will undergo many experiments.
