We have consulted or Christian scholars and can find no biblical referance to burning for purification. The only referance we can find is in the Malius Malifactorium(please excuse the spelling error). Which as all know is the writtings of a man not the word of god. Jesus Christ himself asks us to forgive sinners and saved the life of Mary Magdalin himself.
We give you this final thought : Judge not, lest ye be judged.

Most interesting argument you raise. Since the trueist sin is to limit God, the suggestion of perfection or imperfection would be a sin against the nature of divinity. So I would guess that we are at a stalemate.
