What I don't understand is why people get so uptight about my use of WMDs.

Yes, I spend 1/3 of my massive military spending on them. So what? I have never had a navy. Roanians blister in salt water, it's a very big weakness. Any national leader with an encyclopedia would know that.

However, everyone seems to think that WMDs are awful. War is awful. The enemy is just dead whether from a gas attack or a bullet. They both kill, and often the gas, especially modern ones and the ones I design, kill quicker and with less pain.

What is the problem?

I guess it's just the fact it causes genocide. also, it kills innocents not involved in the war.

Well techinically so does carpet bombing, but not many seemed to care when I did it. But I think it is the fact of the sheer amount of destruction these weapons can cuase, especially if both sides have them. Not to mention any nation that owns them is at risk of having them stolen, and those weapons used by rogue groups to attack peaceful populations.

Bullets kill innocents, mortars kill innocents even missles kill innocents. War is war it's dirty, it's deadly it's fatal to those stupid enough to be int he way and not fighting.

Your argument is pointless since a bullet can kill an innocent just as dead as a gas drop. firebombing can kill as much if not more than gas drop. Even carpet bombing with standard bombs kills lots.

Either way constant use of WMD is stupid cuz it removes ANY effort of RP.

Yes, but my nation has very strict punishments for selling any up-to-date equipment to other nations/organisations.

I think it's death for the first offense.

But that's not the question. The question is, why do people object when it's used by a nation, during a war, against other soldiers?

i agree with you Roania, i always use WMD if i have them. I have nuked my enemies capital five times and got away with it. People really like to see you use WMDs as it gives them an excuse to be righteous and send in their

But you see, if I was to declare a proper war on someone, then RP goes out the window.

Maybe I should make this an OOC question, which I want an IC answer for, as well as the OOC.

OOC: Well to be real honest on NS it completely takes away from the fun of an actual rp, no battles, just you and him throwing big missiles at each other, gets real boring real quick.

I have to agree that it is because of the risk of non-military personnel being killed by it.
Yeah I know stray bullets kill people also, but not like a megaton nuke dropped on a capital city (where they are always dropped).

I've never used nukes. If I'm attacking a country, I want it unharmed.

I just don't want the defenders around.

And Neutron bombs cost a lot.

It stands to reason then that Roania should spend an increased amount on WMDs, so that their potential ly devatating effects can be better controlled.

Of course it never hurts to have an ace in the hole, Weapons such as nuclear warheads are key elements in warfare, your enemy will not feel free to deploy against you if he feels he will lose, and your own forces will not be limitied to conventional tactics if they have the bomb.

We would recommend not only develpoing your weapons further, but developing more of them.

Well, I only have objections to nuclear weaponry, not other WMD.

Why?

Quite simply, nuclear weapons are the most barbaric and idiotic weapons developed yet.

Unless the laws of physics have changed substantially since my last checks, the radiation caused by nuclear weapons will last far longer than the lifetime of the simpleton who pressed "The Button". Hardly seems fair to saddle future generations with a nuclear wasteland.

On top of that, they remove war to the level of a computer game. Select a target, press fire. No soldiers expended, so in the eyes of your heartless mind and uninformed peoples, no harm no foul.

Nb. And yeah, RPs get really boring with only WMD.

Thats one of the reasons I don't like people using WMD, becuase will kill thousands of people in the initial blast. Then for generations many more will die horrible horrible deaths.

You can't invade a peice of territory that you have nuked for a long time becuase of the radiation levels and it affectivly becomes a piece of land you can't use.

Then there is mutual destruction, which should apply, but it doesn't becuase most nations don't want to start huge nuclear wars which will affectively kill half the NS world. The threat of a nation using a nuclear weapon should be enough for lots of other nations to prep their own, making the use of Nuclear weapons a very risky business.

A good OOC reason not to like them is becuase it kills a nations RP when it has been carpet nuked by another nation... admittedly, most nations that get nuked are newbies who have anoyed everyone so much, it doesn't matter what happens... so this point is less adequate.

I don't mind WMD providing peolpe RP them properly and make it interesting... I find a sentace like "I launch 600 nukes" boring.

Not that it matters though... (IC) I don't like them and (OOC) I dislike them but accept that they are part of the system.

Oh... one thing does annoy me though... claiming to have huge supplies of nuclear weapons despite their huge cost and building time. I have around 100, maybe less. They will never be used, with exception to nuclear threats against me personally, in which case I threaten back and prey I don't have to fire. 1000 is ok for a big nation and more if you are big and really want WMD, but 100'000 is stupid.

My two cents of course... I ain't going to make a ruling on it... with exception to ignoring people who carpet nuke and/or use stupid amounts in one strike.
