how the war system is flawed.

ok, people say "im sending so and so number of air craft to your island to bomb it. and it gets there in in a RP day.

but the NS earth is the size[or double the size of] of jupiter. it would take RP years to get there, not days. it just bothers me.

*tends to Ignore the size difference and how a planet the size of Jupiter only has 1 G* Must be filled with fluffy whipped chocolate!

And I noticed, pardon a newbie for critisizing, a lack of actual RP skills on quite a few people. Wars don't usually consist of huge forces just going to the same country with the bigger winning by default. Strategy? Hah. Tactics? God forbid. Characters? *falls from chair laughing*

.... eh... unfortunately I can't dissagree with this much..... though practicaly every single one of my RPs are extreamly character oriented

Well considering we are all playing this by ear saying the war system is flawed is kind of illogical. There is no war system.

To judge someone's RP as bad because you think it is is pretty dull, we all have different opinions of RP and how things work. Advice.... Stick to those you know RP the same as you.

We all have different opinions of how wars should be RP'd we all do them differently. If you cant respect someone elses way of RPing a war then dont enter into a war with them. It comes down to just accepting people as they are and if it's too much ignore them.

Speak for yourself. There are quite a few people who integrate tactics and strategy into warfare. I try to use 'flanking' maneuvers, feints and counter-feints in my troop deployments, but sadly most people are too stupid to play along and just 'turn' to intercept.

And there are alot of people with solidly realistic, well-developed characters.

I'll be the first to admit that the jackasses severely outnumber the true Roleplayers, but we're here. You just have to look.

Oh, I believe you. I'm just tired of (and therefore ranting about) people using phenomenally bad RPing on me. (Not as this country, thankfully. It's too new.) You know what I'm talking about.

My four tank divisions attack your spotter and sniper.

But I acknowledge your rightness. Just had to rant.

Time and space are fluid in NS.

Personally, I take the time to push ships and fleets around. I think it makes for good RP. I tend to give more respect to those that do likewise, and hit people who don't just a little bit harder.

But, it is Free Form RP...bad RPing is allowed as long as you don't piss off anyone else enough to ignore you for it.

Well if you are going to comment on the lack of tactics (whose absence is annoying) on NS what about oh I don't know logistics? Everyone throws around huge armies, but never bother to list what the hell is supplying these things, magic fairies? I hope that doesn't start a disturbing trend. I've had my convoys attacked by my enemies, trust me it makes for a really fun Naval and air RP, or if it is on land, Land and Air.

This is also a serious problem I have with people who use dropships or paratroopers to land hundreds of miles in my nation, then use them to take a city (which is not a port), paratroopers or dropship troopers cannot be constantly supplied from air, the number of losses to my own AA would make it a huge waste of money. Maybe if you controlled a nearby port, or they were supporting an invasion then they make sense to use, but in the middle of my nation, and say they storm over my capitol defense lines, not only is it completely unrealistic, where the hell is the fun.

You use that, you have to increase the horizon distance too. And then you have to change all your military theory based on that increase.

OTT realism can be far more trouble than it's worth.
