Background
LRR was started on May 9, 2003 earth time. Russia had undergone drastic reform in the liberal direction, and out of that spirit of goodwill and happiness, LRR was born. On June 25, 2003, LRR's SETI department made contact with an alien race, the bentusi. This opened our borders to the stars. Bentusi influence can be strongly seen in all LRR ships. With this came a growing dissillusionment about life on earth, with their constant wars and in-fighting. This led to the descision to leave earth once and for all. At first, we had the idea of claiming land and resources, but that prospect was soon cast away in favor of a nomadic lifestyle. This means that, one way or another, through alliances, friendships, and even plain niceness, LRR can get all the resources it needs. Soon, LRR's population of humans had stopped growing. Instead, there were bentusi, insectoids, fishoids, reptilliods, all manner of life. LRR has grown into a large, happy, prosperous affilliation consisting of close to one billion citizens, with great cultural and ethnic diversity. LRR science vessels roam the furthest depths of the Milky Way and andromeda, gathering information for the ever-swelling national archives. LRR's captial could be said to be the great Harbor Ship, located in orbit around Betlegeuse 7. It houses the parilament, the national archives, the largest shipyards in LRR, and a good fifth of the population. The rest of LRR's population is either in the giant spacefleet or roaming the stars on their own time.
