A disturbing new trend is rising among students (both college and high school) in the Taligari nation ever since the fall of the Church of the Dread Lady Nathicana, it is called The Word. Ever since a few missionaries from Synchronized were allowed into the nation about a year ago the Church of The Word has grown like wildfire among the Youth of Taligari. Already is is estimated by experts that over 45% of the Youth population between the ages of 13-19 have converted to this strange "faith" and have had their individuality permenatly removed, much to the pain of their parents.

However despite attempts by lawmakers to have The Church of The Word removed from Taligari, lawyers from the Church have managed to use our "Freedom of Religion" clause to nulify their attempts to remove The Word from Taligari. As Taligari is a pacifist nation and we have only a small police force armed with non-lethal weapons we cannot attack Synchronized and the Priests of The Word have broken no laws of the Taligari nation so the Senate will hold a meeting in an hour to discuss what to do next. Consul General Ferguson Shark has requested the assistance of Taligari law enforcement agencies in returning East Neukian tourist Lauren Blackshaw to her family. The 18-year-old Weston woman had been travelling on her gap year but, while in Taligari, had become involved with the mysterious sect known as 'The Word'.

Lauren's parents George and Janie Blackshaw made a tearful appeal earlier today:

George Blackshaw: "This is every parent's worst nightmare. When your only child goes out into the world, things like this do run through your head but you have to trust her and put those things to the back of your mind. But now it's happened and we just want our girl back as soon as possible. If the Tagliaris are watching, I just want to say please help us. We just want Lauren back. We just want her home."

The Consular Office did not want to send anyone to be interviewed on these events, but did issue this statement:

"Ferguson Shark and everyone at the Office is deeply concerned for Lauren's welfare. We believe that it is in her best interests for her to come home to her parents and the Consul General has requested Tagliari assistance in bringing her home. Ambassador Rebecca Biegh will be travelling to Portuga in Tagliari this evening to liase with the authorities there and offer any resources that maight help to get Lauren home."

Miss Blackshaw has become associated with the cult of The Word, and our government are distressed by reports that this sect is brainwashing its followers, impairing their judgment and free will.

Attempts by Miss Blackshaw's parents and our own officials to contact her have met with failure. Therefore, we would like to have her meet Consular officials so that they can ascertain her condition and, if her welfare requires it, repatriate her.

The government of the People's Republic, and I personally, would deeply appreciate the assistance of Tagliari authorities in this matter. I have instructed Ambassador Rebecca Biegh to travel to Portuga immediatly to act as the representative of the People's Republic.

Now as times change and people's change, the government of the Most Serene Republic of Taligari must change as well but also retain it's most basic values of Freedom, Truth, Perfect Equality, and Pacifism. Now as times have changed it has seen the growth of a new religious order in Taligari, The Church of The Word. This Church has grown among the population of Taligari Youth and has converted them, however the reason that this is disturbing to the Taligari Government is that the form of Conversion favored by this Church is the removal of all individual thought and will from the person and "Synchronize" them to the will of "The Lady".

Needless to say, parents of the children who are now Drones have pressured the Taligari Senate into banning this Church due to the fact that it endangers the people, however the Church has pointed out that it has broken no laws and all people who were "Synchronized" did it out of their own desire for "Synchronization". This new addition to an old law from The Taligari Senate is the answer.

The 18 Sufferage Law

When a Taligari Citizen has turned 18 years of age they will be entitled to the following.

1. The right to consume alcoholic beverages.

2. The right to smoke cigarettes and marijuana.

3. The right to consume any and all recreational drugs.

4. The right to join the Taligari Police Force.

5. The right to marriage without parental consent.

6. The right to have all individual thought and will removed and join any and all Collective Hive Minds.

In a news announcment today, by will of the People, the Church of the Word was the first religion ever banned in Cyberutopia. This religion has been deemed by the People to be all together against all of Cyberutopia's ideals. Though elves may enter Synchronized (with the proper documentation) they cannot bring weapons (and as it is impossible to Synchronize an elf we don't know why they would be interested in comming).

OOC: OMNIUS was unable to do so because of their inherent magic in their blood, it interfered with the microprocessers so he just exiled all of the elves rather than waste resources trying to Synchronize them. When Daemon rose to power she never had any elvish subjects to work on so she believes the same as OMNIUS that it just won't work on Elves.

An amendment to the constitution of Tagliari is to make the right to be Synchronized into the Word a statutory right for all the citizens of that country.

The move has attrcted angry demonstrations on East Neuk Island, as tourist Lauren Blackshaw remains missing in Tagliari, believed to be under the influence of the mind controlling religious group.

George Blackshaw, Lauren's father: "I'm absolutely devastated that Tagliari aretaking this attitude. It doesn't seem like they care one bit about Lauren and the others that are being held by that cult."

President Bhoywonder was questioned on the subject during his weekly report to Parliament today.

Dr G. John Bhoywonder: "I am dismayed that the government of Tagliari has taken this step, but it will not affect our total commitment to bringing Lauren home, and I expect the Tagliari authorities to continue to cooperate in that mission."

The President used the report to announce in interim executive order that the Synchronized faith is not to be allowed to operate on East Neuk Island. Permanent legislation to ban the organisation is being drafted.

In a stunning announcement from the Portuga PD Lauren has been found! An anonmyous call to PPD Headquarters within an hour located lauren in the most unlikely place imaginable, in an drgu-crazed orgy ritual inside the Church of the Pikachu, a religious organization that worships Pikachu, a character from the animeshow Pokemon as God. We are delighted to announce that Lauren Blackshaw is tonight under the protection of Taligari police after being located in the city of Portuga.

Reports that Lauren had been Synchronized by The Word proved, happily, to be unfounded. Lauren had in fact been staying with followers of the Church of Pikachu, a hedonistic but harmless sect popular with travellers for their wild parties.

The Taligari mission on East Neuk Island have arranged to fly Mr and Mrs Blackshaw to Portuga to be reunited with Lauren. President Bhoywonder publicly thanked Taligari a few moments ago:
