Naori settles second island in Pacific!

Naorian Parliament has given the Emperor the go-ahead to begin settlement of a second Pacific island located nearby the main Naorian island of Naowi. The island, named Kyukatori, will have an estimated 25,000 inhabitants by the end of this year. The settlers will be employed in jobs such as farming, logging, and mining. The Eastern side of the island is inhabited by a tribe of cannibal natives, but they have agreed to let the Emperor colonise the island in exchange for metal goods and tools.

Within three years, the Emperor hopes to negotiate the settlement of six other much smaller islands in the Southern Pacific, all surrounding Naowi

The Peoples Republic is concerned by the aggressive and imperialistic tendencies of Naori, and their policy of conquest of their neighbours. Let it be known that we shall be monitoring the situation, and should the circumstances necesitate it, we shall take action to defend the brave inhabitants, if any, of those islands from their expansionist neighbour.

We have paid for Kyukatori, as we will for the other lands we intend to purchase. We are allowed to expand, like all nations, so long as we do not harm the inhabitants of the islands.

We are bringing these backwards people into the light. We are giving them metals, and teaching them how to fish. Soon they will abandon their horrific culture of cannibalism, and come to be productive citizens of the Empire of the Shining Sun.
