Lately i've been considering whether or not to introduce future tech (ie: mechas, the beginings of a space fleet) to my nation. I havn't been much of an active roleplayer and I'm unsure of the level of development it's generally concidered is needed for such projects. Can anyone advise?

Some advice: Don't use mechs. Although they can look cool 8), they're not practical :(.

I agree. A massive walking battle tank is extremely costly and a massive target. Buy lasers and stuff....or not. I have no idea about future tech really...
No but nothing wrong with limited use for intimdation of enemy ground troops.
dont go with future tech. Its just a huge mess of
"you cant do that!"
"yes I can!"
"no you cant! stop watching <insert sci fi movie here ussually star wars or star trek> noob!"
"Its not impossible just far off!"
"noob! ignored!"
I have yet to see 1 good space RP.
stay felexible. I can fight sci-fi, fantasy and ancient people. Flexibility.....what a wonderous thing.
I would say most modern tech nations could start a space program at 100 mil pop, so you could concievably surge to space colonies over a decade - higher pop than US at the start of their space program, plus likely a little more idealism because of the whole college state. Science and exploration, etc.

Thanks for the advice, I think i'm going to take it slow. Thats not to say I wont be using any future tech, merely using it moderation. And thank you troll gods, very...interesting.
