...and this is perhaps the strangest Event of the Week that I've ever had to write on; although not principally strange in itself, the event in particular is really two events, that, when combined, produce a strange result.

During joint negotiations (government sources have been quoted as saying in other previous publications) involving the ITC, the IDF, and the Knootian government, a deal was struck for the ITC to buy a block of 'land' to build an offshore funpark - as part of an EOTED defense package provided to Knootoss.

The plan is that an undisclosed number of warships will be posted at the base, to help protect the Knootian coastline from attack in the future.

What is strange, however, is the combination of these two events - two events which occurred during the same negotiation session.

Quite what is beyond myself, though, is why the funpark was an issue. That is, it was beyond me until more details were released earlier today.

The funpark, although entirely constructed by the ITC, will be entirely staffed by Knootian nationals - and that will mean thousands of new jobs for Knootoss.

Work is apparently set to begin over the next few days with regards to both new developments, but no details on location or specifics are as yet available to the public...

Whilst the advanced terraforming techniques and unique positioning (in relation to undersea geography) of the Garden - combined with its already established reputation as a top holiday and vacation resort for the well-to-do executive - mean serious competition is unlikely, work has been undertaken on several new rides.

Having gained clearance earlier in the day, the two fleets of Fancy's - one full of cheap-looking things, with bog-standard swing cargo doors; the other composed of sleek military-style craft - arrived in their two seperate destinations.

One group descended on the water - literally onto the water - where the new funpark was to be constructed; and the other settled calmly into place at the secret construction site of the naval base that EOTED was to run in SATO's name.

Silently they come, for they have flown the long and slow subsonic way; the faint hum they produce might only disturb birds, or animals with especially keen hearing.

At both sites, work begins...

Styla growled at the man before him, and resisted the urge to cuff his ear. "Mister... whoever the hell you are! - are you some sort of imbecile? Does it escape your bloody mind that we're sitting on water, and if you open the bay doors we'll all bloody well drown?"

"Well," the thickset man responded sluggishly, "the thought did occur to me, boss, but I figured, like, you know?"

Styla stared at the man blankly. "You are one thick shit," he informed him.

"Yeah," the man responded with a grin.

Styla looked bemused. "Just... do something constructive."

Snorts rang around the interior of the cargo bay. "Couldn't you have come up with something better than that, Boss?" someone called out.

"Hell yeah, but you dopes wouldn't ha' picked up on it," the Boss retorted, "now get yourselves moving. We're onna tight schedule, and Big Boss on F1 will have our skins if we ain't on time..."

Hoek van Holland, Knootoss coast

Rain poured down on the dirt of the Dutch nation of Knootoss, and the water intermingled with the sand on the beach creating a muddy substance. At one point, the beach was closed off by a fence and the shadows of structures could be seen, looming over the beach. Construction of the EOTED naval base in Knootoss was proceeding according to schedule. Flags from the South Atlantic Treaty Organisation waving atop one of the constructions.

A man in his thirties walking his dog on the beach muttered: “Yuk, mud again. And rain again, why does it always rain when I did not bring my umbrella?” He increased his pace as his clothes were slowly being soaked.

Inside the base, workers had paused their work because the rain was getting too bad. The builders sat closely together in their building-shack. Some were eating lunch and other were playing cards. In the background KNN radio played some popmusic:

Work at the two bases was proceeding at very different speeds.

The ITC funpark was already well under way; work at the naval base was slower, more leisurely. The date of completion was far distant in comparison to the funpark; the funpark would cost a huge amount to build, but would be completed far faster than most would expect.

The foundations were already laid, put in place on the sea floor by special submarinal construction units - completely remote-operation. EOTED has long spent time under the waves, and once, the IDF N was entirely composed of submarines - experience counts, and they make it show.

Already the thin black lines of the platforms which will hold the 'island' in place are stretching up from the sea bed, inexorably growing in a directed fashion as slabs of metal are slapped into place and 'told to grow'-

(OOC: Thelas has a satilite network, every point on the globe has a TMIS go over it once a week, well not over it, but the point is scanned once a week.

(OOC: You do realise that NS eath is huge and only huge alliances such as SATO can afford such sattelite networks by working together? And even then they probably concentrate only on strategic parts of the NS earth. Well, I do not really want to get into a discussion with you right now but I am only giving this to you as a thought.

EOTED already answered your question. And I would not bet on you identifying anything unless you have about a million men who have a fulltime job nitpicking on every building being built all over the globe.
