Patented technology. Costs $100 billion for rights.
---Original Post---
Coldorran scientists have made their first major breakthrough!
Plans have been drawn up (and are under military protection) which will allow for shields (much like those on spacecraft) to be fitted to Main Battle Tanks!
The problem is that this requires a huge Quantum Fission generator to be attached to the tank. Coldorran designs call for this to be fitted inside the tank!
The shield spreads 1 metre over the armour (An advanced system copyrighted by Yera Tech(c) is issued to control this. In our country the state has the right to ignore copyright however). The tank will be effectively invunerable during this time when the shield is up.
Disadvantages:
Sheer cost. It is unknown how much a completed tank will cost.
Size. They are around 2 times the size of standard MBTs in length and a little bit wider.
With the shield down the Quantum generator is vunerable to exploding if hit.
The tank cannot fire with the Quatum shield up as the shell are just destroyed by the shield.
The tank is still vunerable to some damage as the shield does not cover the bottom of the tank (mines, grenades, etc will still damage)
If used too often in battle, the tanks can explode due to Quantum Waste.
It has not been predicted what may happen if two shields touch.
It will cut through anything, whether friendly or not.
