...will no longer be the job of the Xanthalian Imperial Armada. The government is commissioning a new line of small police ships based off a combination of designs from Teritoran police patrolships, the abandoned Defiant project, and slipfighters; put together in a cheap and compact spaceframe.

These patrol ships hold three crew members that rotate on eight hour shifts, and are equipped with powerful weapons and holding beams to deal with fugitives. They contain a small living and recreation area and bunkroom as well as a small bridge for the on-duty crewmember and a brig for detaining criminals.
The patrol ships (which are being designated as Patrol class) are not designed for extended missions, and each ship will not stay out in space for more than thirty days at a time without docking at a starbase for crew rotation and maintenance. The Patrol class is expected to be a tremendous asset to maintaining order on the over 1.5 hundred quadrillion cubic kilometers of Xanthalian claimed space.
The Patrol class vessels will be almost exclusively operated by the esteemed Xanthalian police forces, which will use them in tandem with their well established planetary infrastructure to enforce the law throughout Xanthalian territory.
