Hussein grew up in Auja, a small village of mud-brick huts lying northwest of the capital, Baghdad.

He joined the Arab Baath Socialist Party ( A.B.S.P.) in 1956, and three years later made a name for himself by participating in the attempted assassination of Iraqi Prime Minister Abudul Karim Kassim. The plot was a failure and Hussein, who was shot in the leg, fled Iraq for the safe haven of Syria and then to Egypt.

In 1968 he was part of a revolt that brought the Baath party to power under General Ahmed Hassan Bakr. Because of his service and aid in leading the revolt, he rose to the post of vice president, which he used to build up his secret police force - charged with the duty of rooting out dissidents. Eleven years later Bakr resigned and Hussein became the president of Iraq.

Shortly after acquiring the country's levers of power, he purged and "liquidated" scores of officials he suspected of disloyalty.

In 1980 Iraq's armies invaded Iran, sparking a war the would last eight years and result in casualties exceeding a million people. The war stalled for both sides, leading to an inconclusive stalemate.

The summer of 1990 (August) saw Hussein's armies invade the oil sheikdom of Kuwait, and the proclamation that Kuwait was now Iraq's "19th province". The UN issued directives ordering Hussein to withdraw his forces, which were promptly rejected. His refusal to remove his occupation forces from Kuwait led to the First Persian Gulf War, and what Hussein liked to refer to as "the mother of all battles". The coalition forces deployed by an angry world completely routed the Iraqis, weakened them by 50%, and left them in a state of disarray.

Twelve years later, the United States invaded Iraq (March 21, 2003), and waged all out war on Iraq. The invading infidels ceased their advance into Iraq just outside of An Najaf in the southwest and Al Qut in the southeast. The US withdrew months later after facing increasing guerilla attacks. A new theocracy government was proclaimed in the south, which was hated by both Hussein and the US.

In the North, the Kurds were allowed to continue their semi-autonomy, but Hussein has been itching to return the territories to Iraq as soon as possible.

Sanctions against Iraq were lifted on April 28, 2003, Saddam's birthday, and he was allowed to import whatever he liked.

I stand behind my opening comment that you so enjoy sneering at, which, to reiterate, was, "Considering the male majority in the UN, your ambassador could be quite successful. Especially if she shows up to negotiations dressed like that." Since your citizens find it perfectly tasteful, perhaps we should also encourage nations whose home culture permits it to send naked female fashion models to UN meetings and other international functions and demand respect and courtesy. Whatever your own culture, a sanctimonious demand that everyone in the world respect your social norms as superior to those accepted international norms will only lead to disrespect and discourtesy. If cat people cannot acknowledge that their own traditional dress is regarded as highly provocative in many corners of the world, the rest of the world will not acknowledge the cat people as any sort of credible international power(s).

On the other hand, if you plan only to deal with the fantastical-arena corners of NationStates who have no intention to resemble the real world in any way, then, by all means, go ahead. But here I have another axe to grind: the trend towards putting extremely beautiful and youthful people in government posts. The real world is not run by young, superfashionable cuties; it is run by ugly old men and women in drab business suits. Get your heads out of anime-land, please!

In miscellaneous remarks, I find it mildly offensive that, while my remarks and somewhat enlightened discourse (not very enlightened, but somewhat) have been met with accusations of bigotry and immaturity, this:

Kai Hiwatari has lived the first 28 years of his life under an Imperialist regime. His mother died when he was born, and his father got arested and executed because he was the leader of an organisation called The Bolvakonists. A group who strived for a free Attawar. Kai then was 17 years old. He allready knew something had to be done about the cruel Emperor… After the death of his father, Kai became the leader of the damaged, but not destroyed Bolvakonists. When the time came, Kai starting spreading out the first not goverment-controlled papers, telling the truth about the emperor… The country started to revolt, and several parties formed. One of the largest ones, was the red faction, wich was leaded by Xjung Himura… By stealing from the Imperial army, Kai armed the Bolvakonists, with the intention to asassinate the Emperor, wich he did. What followed was a civil war, fought out in the streets of the Capitol… Eventually, with international help, the red faction and the Bolvakonists unified, ands defeated the militaristic and Imperial opposition. A nation who,played a great role in this, was Rotovia. Together, Xjung Himura and Kai lead Attawar to a free socialistic future…
