Rumors of Schism Rising in the Church Spread
[Reported by Luca Citywide News Net, On Scenes Reporter Jeremy Givia, Outside of the Temple of Luca]
Jeremy: As you most likely know, rumors of internal conflict in the Church of Yevon has grown as minor (public) fistfights have broken in front of the Temples between various acolytes and a few priests. The Church would like to remind all citizens of The Bevelle Empire and Yevonites across the world that there is no Schism developing within the Church, the Church is One and Whole and there is no need to fear. Now for a commercial break!
OOC: If you can't tell this is the tip of the iceberg, the beginning of a Schism in Yevon stay tunned.

Looks neat, it also gives us cause for worry due to the Yevonites in Rynonche, our largest concentration of Yevonites.
[Hyjack Transmission from Djose, Father Dyku takes the Podium]
"Greetings one and all, I am Father Dyku, the True Voice of Yevon on this Earth, ever since the Traitor Yuna began to quote un quote "Liberalize" Yevon by allowing Machina and Technology forbidden by several declarations of previous Grand Maesters. The traitor Yuna has also attempted to broker peace with the Al Bhed, the filthy scum of Sanubia! This cannot stand, so as I saw in a vision granted to my by Yevon that the Church has gone astray, and I am to be the new Grand Maester of the TRUE Church of Yevon, i shall declare three new Maesters later. All those who wish to follow the true Teachings of Yevon and save the Heart of Yevon from moral decay listen to my voice, rebel against the traitor Yuna and her Puppet Maesters!"
[Transmission Ended]
An Hour Later
The cities and towns all across The Bevelle Empire and in forigen nations wherever populations of Yevonites dwell were thrown into anarchy as those who call themselves "Purifiers" (Loyal to Dyku) fought agianst the "Loyalists" (Loyal to Yuna). The Grand Maester Yuna declared Marshall Law all across Spira to deal with the chaos.

Temple of Stari (In Brandywine): We request that several "Purifier" protest groups outside the temple be broken up as violence has a good chance of breaking out between the Purifiers and the Warrior Monks.
Temple of the Five Fayth (Rynonche City): The Temple is being attacked by militant Purifers, Warrior Monks are currently fighting back, aid needed.

Temple of Stari:
Mother Madonna, an older woman with grey hair and grey eyes, the High Priestess of the Temple of Stari in Brandywine looked out of the window of her private apartments upon a scene of horror. Hundreds of this "Purifiers" these rebels against Yevon were in a mob outside the doors of the Temple, barely being held back by the Warrior Monks. "Where are those Kechan Troops?" Mother Madonna asked herself as she heard gunfire.
Temple of the Five Fayth:
Father Zerii lay dead on the steps that lead to the Cloyster of Trials, a bullet from the invaders had gone right through the back of his head and killed him instantly, as machine guns crackled and swords clashed agianst one another in the Main Prayer Room of the Temple, a sacred place where violence was not to be held, both the mob and the Warrior Monks plunged deeper into chaos as death filled the Temple and the name of Yevon was stained in blood.

Mother Rammaldo, the High Priestess of the Temple of the Terra Lights in Teritora and an old woman of over 90 years of age was reading the news of the break in the Church in Bevelle Empire while she took her morning stroll through Castle Dora. "Yevon, may this rebellion of not of spread to Teritora." she thought as she kissed a medallion with the symbol of Yevon on it. It was the last thing she did as she felt a sword go through her back. "Die servant of the traitor!" a mans voice spat behind her as she died like an animal.

Street violence and rioting began to blossom all across Rynonche as Purifiers and Loyalists began to attack one another in droves. "We have heard of the troubles within the Bevelle Empire and as such we are boosting security around the temple of Calsi. Our men will be armed and while they will not shoot without good reason, they will arrest anyone attempting to damage the temple in anyway. * Edited to add missing explanation: Iuthian Peace-Keepers are our version of police, it's just that Iuthia's emergancy services are run by the military for effienciency perposes. Peace-Keepers are simply soldiers who have been trained to police without the use of lethal weapons. However, they are all trained to use Gauss Rifles and have them stored in the reinforced boots of Peace-Keep squad cars.

Stari: As they realized the mob was serious, the Police began firing into the crowd, with intent to wound and kill, firing Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and utilizing Clubs and Riot Shields.
Five Fayth: The Assault Infantry moved fast to secure a hold in the Temple, firing their weapons without mercy on the Purifiers, the Heavy Infantry kept trying to move into position, but the roads where mired by the fighting.
[Report from the Bevelle Empire]
The temples currently in rebellion are under assault by Bevelle Forces under the leadership of Sir. Tidus, the city of Bevelle is under total lockdown while the city of Luca is in total chaos as rioting has reached a fevered pitch, the towns of Besaid and Killika are currently under marshal law while the temples are being attack to remove the Purifier Resistance. Djose is under seige with Dyku trapped inside the temple. Mt. Gagazet is rumored to be the only place in all of Spira that is not at war. The Guado declared their loyalty to Yuna but small factions of Guado loyal to Dyku are rumored to exist, the Hypolo have chosen not to take sides and have fled to their communities along the Moonflow. Macalania is the only temple and place not in a state of conflict.

As Mother Rammaldo gasped her last painful breath her spirit floated above the bleeding mess that had been her body, she looked at the brave men who were confronting her killer, Feind they said his name was. Before she could go on to the Farplane Mother Rammaldo had something she needed to do, drawing to her pyreflies from nearby she took a tangible form so that everyone could see her, if as a simple phantom form visible because of the pyreflies. She looked at her killer with a look of pity and said, "I pity you." Mother Rammaldo having finished what she wished to do then allowed the pyreflies to disperse and then felt the Power of Yevon enter her in a way that it had never done before and she moved on to the dream of the Farplane forever.

OOC: Fuckin' place ate up my responce, I don't feel like typing it out again so I'll just tell you. in Stari the Mob is fleeing in all directions, 13 dead 20 wounded (from bullets) and 7 in total have been trampled to death. In Five Fayth the Purifier lines have broken as your struck from one side and the Warrior Monks from behind but the riots outside are growing more heated.
Five Fayth: The Heavy Infantry can't make it in, so they are moving to secure other parts of Rynonche City....by force, the Assault Infantry are moving to secure the Temple and establish steady contact with the Loyalist Warrior Monks.
Stari: The Police increase their attack.
OOC: Here is a manuscript describing last nights actions, it is IC and has been “leaked” to outside sources and is available to nations with decent Intel, it is being sold by an anonymous grey suited man in Free Iuthia for a rather large sum (around 5’000 USD, though this is bartered). If you want Intel on the man I want a telegram from you with details on how you are going to try and get the information.
Your people cannot be traced because I assume they are not stupid enough to use a delegation of people from your nation to buy it. However, the people you are buying it off record the fact they sold it and how much they got for it, though not who they got it off (unless you are not using common sense when buying it).

Witness Interview Manuscript: 013:45pm 5/10/03, Kraven District Station, Dorma City, Iuthia
[Added note from dealer: The Witnesses, Doctors and Peace-Keepers names are withheld by the source, they want don’t want to endanger them. ]
Subject looks anxious and seems a little distressed at today’s events.
Peace Keeper: So tell me xxxxxxx, what position do you hold at the Calsi Temple?
Witness: I… I’m just a patron, I go their every Sunday* to pray for my son to recover his [information removed, possible identification.] and that I the Purifiers leave Yuna be.
PK: And what happened during this particular sermon?
W: Well, like I said, I pray every week for my son to get better, but this week our sermon was interrupted by another priest entering the temple. His robes were all bright colours: red, yellow, orange and white. Father Dumas looked shocked that this man should enter and told him to leave.
PK: Then what happened?
Subject begins to look anxious, he begins to shake uncontrollably before being comforted by near by doctor.
Doctor: May we have a break; he will need time to rest for a while before being ready to answer this question.
[Break lasts fifteen minutes.]
PK: So again, what happened?
W: The bright priest incited a strange passage, turning his hand to flame and then fired at Father Dumas, who was protected by a field of light. People begun to scatter as the two men fought with unknown forces. The bright priest turned his attention to some of the people running, burning them down as they ran. [Face of horror] The smell of them… I will never forget.
PK: What about you?
W: I hid from them, the bright priest had four different colour balls flying around him in a orbit, it seemed that Dumas’s counter attacks were not working. Then the Peace-Keepers arrived.
PK: Yes, our records show that, but we don’t know what happened after that.
W: The Peace-Keepers came in with their normal shock mauls, only the bright priest simply blasted them with ice, pouring out of his fingers like in the movies. One of them fell to the ground, completely blue; the other froze in his place like a cube of ice. Dumas was being overwhelmed, if it wasn’t for the addition Peace-Keeper you sent in…
PK: We know the rest from their, we shot the priest dead after he took one man down for the use of “Forbidden Machina”. He took a surprising amount of rounds to take down, as his field seemed to reduce the effect of the Gauss Gun in a way I’ve never seen before. Thanks for your cooperation; you can go back to the hospital now.
[ Witness is returned to his room in the psychiatric ward of the deGritz Dorma Hospital.]
After this incident, the Purifier aspect of the Yevon religion was banned from the nation, anyone found to be a member would be exiled in the normal way. This is one of the few crimes Iuthia has had recently and as such will be treated with complete the resources that they have to offer.
OOC: Note that all Temples give Complete reports to Bevelle on a daily basis so Bevelle will be fully aware of what has happened.
IC: The Grand Maester Yuna I looked at the most resent reports from the Temple of Calis in horror. "So Grand Maester what are your orders?" Maester Auron asked as he looked at Yuna after she raised her head from the report. Yuna's face was filled with so much anger that Maester Seymour who was standing near her desk backed away very slowly and very quietly. "I will tell you what we are going to do." Yuna said as she rose from the desk and turned to the window, a window with a marvelous view of Bevelle that seemed to streach on for miles around. "This traitor Dyku has gone too far! Call on the aid of the Mages, it is time we took back Djose from his blasphemous hands." Maester Braska nodded and left the room. Within an hour the responce from the Counsel of Mages was short and sweet, "Yes We Will Aid You." within a day the Church began to amass it's forces for an assault on Djose Temple.

IC:
Spira's Sorrow: Why the Schism Has Happened: By Farrdi Vis, an Acolyte of the Summonerhood
Now as the Church of Yevon faces the first Schim in it's millenia long history, many forigners I have spoken too have asked this one question, "Why did this happen without any prior warnings?" This report is the answer.
Over a thousand years ago the continent of Spira was dotted with grand Machina cities where the people played all day and all night and allowed Machina-machines-that they had built to run them. However in time they forgot what it meant to be human as they turned inward to their pleasures and forgot morallity, kindness, even compassion, the humans also lost their ability to survive without Machina.
One day however a virus entered the Machina systems, a virus that turned the Machina agianst their masters, a plague that was unstoppable despite the best attempts by the scientists in the Machina cities, the macina killed everyone and everything in sight and the virus caused them to self-destruct, the explosions from all the Machina were so great that the cities were destroyed (except for the ruins that litter Spira even now), all but for one. Zanarkand.
Zanarkand, a mythic place, a paradice city, the last Machina City, the one city that managed to find a cure for the virus before it struck the city but too late to save the others. A city that stood for a hundred years before being destroyed, a city of wonder, a city now in ruins, a sacred place where the Summoners go to gain the Final Aeon so that they may perform the Final Summoning (but for what reason the Final Summoning exists is kept a secret even from an Acolyte until they have earned the Final Aeon).
The reason behind the destruction of Zanarkand is unknown, but obscure ballads from the early days of the Church give a fuzzy picture as I will quote here from Das Freals in Zenarkai (The Fall of Zanarkand)
Oh! Children of old and new,
forget not the pain of Zanarkand,
how proud and grand she stood,
a mountain of pleasure and gold.
Oh! Children of old and new,
forget not the fall of Zanarkand,
how her hedonistic ways killed her,
the Machina betrayed them all.
Oh! Children of old and new,
we must never forget this lesson,
the machina are our dark sin,
and we must take the punishment of an enraged god (Yevon)
As you see it is most likely that eventually the Machina malfunctioned (or were attacked by a new strain of the virus that could not be cured in time) and destroyed Zanarkand. A survivor by the name of Benni Duras however would spark a revolution that would still be felt in Spira to this very day, the revoultion was called Yevon.
This Holy Prophet (who later became the Churches first Grand Maester) was given a vision by Yevon to create a Church and spread His Teachings to bring unity and peace to the remnants of humanity on Spira (and later to all races and all peoples). He took his teachings to a small fishing village that had been built by the descendants of a nearby ruined Machina city, that village had been named Bevelle.
During the days in which the Church was trying to build a solid base in Bevelle one of the 11 Apostles proposed that all weapon Machina be banned in all areas ruled by the Church, the Grand Maester Benni I agreed (later this was extended to computer technology as well) and the The Great Machina Ban List was made that was updated as need for over a millenia until the current Grand Maester Yuna I declared that the list would be fazed out and cited several legal precendents that showed that the list was not related to the Teachings of Yevon but were only a ban that was need a millenia ago and were a hinderance today.
However the Purifers feel that the Ban is in fact still needed and that Yevon himself loaths such technology and Dyku (their self-appointed leader) has declared Yuna to be a Traitor to the Teachings and no longer fit to wear the Shal'it'aria (Holy Necklace of Power: the Symbol of the Grand Maesters authority), he has declared himself the true Grand Maester and self-appointed High Priest of the Djose Temple (even though the Church of Yevon under Yuna's rule considers Father Zuke the true High Priest: he is away from the Empire on buissness for the Church). This of course has lead to Civil War as Purifiers and Loyalists fight for what they both believe to the truth and what they think Yevon wants.
Yet the Teachings do state very clearly the following, "When I asked Yevon if he wished for war agianst all those who do not believe in Him, He answered, "If my Children fight in my name then I shall renounce them, for none of my Children are too wage war and bring hurt to others unless it be an act of self-defense.". Dyku, struck the first blow, Yuna only orders that the true Children of Yevon protect themselves wherever possible.

OOC: As Dyku was declared a "Traitor to Yevon" and excommunicated from the Church of Yevon he is going to be fair game as you will see...
IC: High Magus Lulu looked at the Djose Temple using a small crystal globe that she used to scry great distances, she saw the lines of Warrior Monks and Crusaders who had broken from the Church and sided with Dyku. "Pitiful fools, do they really think they follow the Teachings by declaring war on the Heart of Yevon?" Lulu thought out loud as she waved her hand and the image in the globe vanished. "Yes I know all about the war counsel Callidus." Lulu said as the young Mage opened her mouth to speak as she crept quietly into Lulu's tent.
Dyku, the self-appointed Grand Maester of Yevon looked upon the reports on his desks, an endless stream of reports (the few that made it through the blockade) of failure on all fronts, the few Temples that had heard the true Teachings had been retaken by the Heretic Forces of the Traitor Yuna, well Yevon would provide, He always did. "I must trust in Yevon to show me the path to the salvation of the Church." Dyku thought as he prayed to Yevon, thanking Yevon for picking him to be the vehicle to save the Church from the whorish bitch Yuna.
Sir Tidus, General of the Crusaders and the (not so secret) lover of the Grand Maester Yuna began to speak to the War Counsel. "To bring everyone up to speed here is the entire situation, all of the Temples that broke from the Church have been brought back into the fold, new High Priests have been appointed and the traitors have been imprisoned or executed. Only Djose and the false Grand Maester Dyku remain, trapped and cornered. The reason we dare not attack is because we might damage the Fayth in the temple, therefore." "Therefore I will send Mages into the temple using Teleport spells to take the Fayth out of the Temple so the Crusaders may attack the Temple without risking doing damage to the Fayth within." Lulu interrupted, wanting to draw the meeting to a close. "You do realize that this will be the first attack on a temple BY Yevonites since... ever!" Col. Luzzu said. "Yes, yes I do," Sir. Tidus said, "But it must be done." Luzzu nodded and the meeting about the attack took an hour to plan before Sir Tidus said, "So it is descided, this meeting is closed."
The Attack was to happen at dawn, Operation Djose was now the plan.

We got one of those Purists for murdering the High Priestess of the Temple of the Terra Lights and as he was seen doing this by many eye witnesses who held him by swordpoint intil the guards could come I would say his chances for excaping the death penality is very slim. He is going to become a head shorter.
The Mages were ready.
Lulu looked at the handpicked Mages that she had chosen for their ability to perform spells flawlessly under extreme pressure, and the spells they were going to have to cast were very complex and draining on their Mana, not even the best MP1 bangles would be able to slow down the rate of their Mana consumption. "Are you ready?" Lulu asked her colleagues. They all nodded and without another word they began to call on the flows of power needed for the Teleport Circle.
Dyku looked out the window of his office and gazed upon the forces of the Traitor Yuna amassed that now cut off Djose from the outside world on all sides. "Well, they have cased their lot with the Traitor, let them burn for it in the afterlife." he thought before his thoughts were interrupted by the beginning of his end.
Alarms flared in the Djose Temple as the Mages that had chosen to risk this deadly assingment, broke into the Chamber of the Fayth appeared out of thin air. The four knew that they could teleport in but when they teleported out the ancient magical defenses of the Chamber would rip them apart when they tried to teleport back, but they would allow the Fayth to be Teleported because of a weakness in the design of the spells in Djose Temple. The four then drew on their remaining resources for their last spell, they felt the familiar flows wrap around themselves and the Fayth Statue then a blinding brilliance of red consumed them and they knew no more.
In later days the Church would forbid everyone who saw what happened next to speak of what the Statue of the Djose Fayth looked like, but what happened afterward will remain a testament of Bevellian History.
As Sir Tidus watched the last of Lulu's powers weave a black veil around the Statue to cut it off from human sight and to protect it from negative influences he drew his sword and stabbed it in the air and cried out, "For Yevon!" then the forces of Bevelle marched to war for the first time in over 300 years, but they also moved against their own for the first time in the entire history of the millennia old Church of Yevon.
Yevon was at War.

As the first wave of Crusaders attacked the fortifyed Temple of Djose, helicopters were using Sphere Cameras to project the images of the battle all across Spira and across the world, this reporters commentary.
"As you can see from a distance, the black distortion is the veils of magic covering the Fayth of the Djose Temple that was stolen out of the temple by the magics of four brave Mages who gave their lives for Yevon. The crusaders are leading the first attack wave on the Djose Temple, behind them Guado Mages are calling forth Controled Fiends as the Second Wave and the Temple even inlisted the aid of five brave Summoners who are now preparing to call forth Aeons into the fight. The Church has ordered the complete destruction of the Djose Temple rather than allow it to remain in the hands of heathens and traitors. This is a warning to all schismatics, you will never win."
[The camera pans in on the forces of Dyku and Yuna as they first slammed into one another in the first conflict on Spira soil of this magnitude in over 500 years.]

INN News Report - Yevonite Missionaries Support Grand Maester Yuna
Amidst reports of a civil war in the religious Bevelle Empire, increased security by both missionaries and government have been added to the Calsi Temple after various protests broke out and a violent incident earlier this week.
Details of this incident are still “Classified” after a decision by high officials that know what they are doing*. However the protests have been widely covered and they have generally been peaceful protests by the “Loyal” Yevon faction, protesting against the Purifier violence and attacks against the Bevelle Empire.
Though the war has had little coverage across the world, it would seem that all Yevonites questioned seem to be updated on every little defeat and victory. We asked the recovering priest; father Dumas how he felt about the war.
“Well, the whole situation is a sorry affair. Priests killing priest within the holy temples of Yevon, how lady Yuna must weep at night at the thought of so many dying. This grab for power by the traitorous faction the “purifiers” must be stopped, or we’ll fall into chaos and go back to the stone ages, declaring war on machina nations. We fully support our Grand Maester Yuna, who through time has kept our religion peaceful and just. All funds we can spare will go back to her cause; expansion can wait until after the war.”
With this comment, I can’t help but think that the outcome of this war may affect our very own nation in some way, as such this media channel will keep you updated on the situation, John Beinbek out.

Our position is neutral in this civil war of religion in Bevelle Empire as both parties have no contact or relations with our Catholic Church.
However we know the pain and suffering caused by this kind of war due to the 100 year old war against Protestants earlier in our history. Catholicism won, but at a cost.

The forces of Yuna and Dyku clashed into one another on the open plains before the Djose Temple. The Dyku forces were both outnumbered and out armed as they only possessed swords and knifes and magic while the Crusaders were armed with new machina weapons and sorcery and better armor which allowed the forces of Yuna to quickly decimated the forces of the Traitor Dyku. While this was going on the artillery magic cannon and the Aeons unleashed massive attacks upon the Djose Temple itself.
An avalanche of rock fell onto the Djose Temple as the Cliffside face on which the Temple had been carved caved in upon itself. The ancient magics of the Temple of Djose struggled to keep the Temple intacted but the Mages then launched Mana Draining spells and devices at the Temple to bleed the Temple dry of magic, to bleed it dry of what kept it intact. The forces of Yevon took no prisoners nor did they give mercy, no one would survive, none were meant to.
Dyku had fled into the deep recesses of the Temple as it trembled under the assaults of the enemy. Though his forces were attacking the Aeons and the forces of Yuna with magic and steel, they were no match for the evil and unholy machina weapons of the forces of the bitch Yuna. "Damm her into the deepest pits of Hell!" he thought as several rooms in the temple collapsed.
The images of the battle were seen on Live-Spherevision all across Spira and all across the world as well.
Yevon was at war.
