Al Anbar to release Roanians
Message to all concerned
Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim.
In the interests of peace and cooperation, the Republic of Al Anbar will release all citizens of Roania currently held in custody. We shall do this on the following conditions:
1) Removal of all Roanian troops and military units from around Al Anbar.
2) Roania must cease all supplies to Eye Ran.
3) Guarantees from the international community that if Roania does not uphold its part of the agreement, they will assist us in defending Al Anbar from the Roanian hordes.
The citizens shall be released to Lebanon after Roania agrees to the treaty and all those currently involved in the affair agree to part three.
Signed,
President Saddam Hussein.
President of the Republic of Al Anbar.

The Roanians also demand, as punishment, the signing over of Al Anbar's oil reserves to the Principality's allies, Ell and Eye Ran.
We demand the release of the prisoners immediately. Then we can talk about conditions.
2 NS days remaining.
All reserves of oil in Al Anbar are the soverign property of Al Anbar and will not be controlled by anyone but Al Anbar. Any attempt to seize them will bring their destruction.

I'm sorry you feel that way. Sadly, Eye Ran managed to steal several Roanian MOABs.
I'd get them back, but... without something to offer them, I can't.
bump
Can you make a proper response? What is this bump?
bump
Can you make a proper response? What is this bump?
I am waiting for Ell and the others.
For the love of... just tg the damn thread to them! And stop bumping!
I don't need MOABs I have plenty, and my army is pretty well equipped. Hand over the oil or else.
The reason most of us haven't posted, I assume, is becuase we don't have any real part in this conflict.
Iuthia has no had all of it's people returned to it, who have now been instructed to stay the hell out of Al Anbar becuase I won't commit troops to help again.
As for Roania's threats to Al Anbar... well, there isn't much I can do about that, I should keep my forces away from Al Anbar becuase there is the chance I may get shot in the back or something.
If Roania uses WMD against Al Anbar I may assist, but thats becuase I don't like the wanton use of WMD. I would also prefer that Roania deals with it's problems without resorting to killing a couple million innocents in the streets.
However, this is no longer an Iuthian issue. Had Iuthia's people not been accused of spying in the first place I may of objected more to Roania's actions... however, my people are taking a more "I told you so" approach to the situation.
Most young nations keep their heads down and avoid conflict with larger nations becuase alot of nations don't have the ethics and morals that Iuthia has.
Good luck, you are going to need it.

Communication to Roania:
In order for peace to be achieved you must be willing to compromise... even with a Rogue State like Al Anbar. The Pacifist State of Taligari hopes that peace can be achieved and the policies of the Al Anbar Government change... or that a more democratic government can be built in it's place.

The leadership of the Republic of Al Anbar is still willing to return the Roanians once the three terms above have been agreed to. We will not, however, stand any infractions of territory. We will not give our resources away to warmongers such as Roania.

A Message to Al Anbar
We are pleased to see that you have released the citizens of these countries and that you now are willing to embrace methods other than military threats to gain security...but this is not enough.
We must ask that you release the assets of foreign citizens and governments that you have seized in Al Anbar. We must also ask that you cease the military build-up on our borders and begin to withdraw some of the forces that you have arrayed there.
When these requests are met, we will release the Al Anbaran funds that we have seized either in Western Asian or in allied banking systems and we will also remove some of our soldiers from our border. These funds were seized and these soldiers moved up in response to the actions of your government and when you have un-done the instigating actions then you will find our actions un-done in return.
Please take this offer into serious consideration.
Golan Heights
Around 1000 AST, three infantry divisions and one mechanized division began to pull back from the border area with Western Asia and into new positions closer to Damascus and other important areas nearby the city.
Message - Western Asia
Al Anbar has begun to remove its troops around the border with Western Asia. The troops were there only in a defensive capacity, but in the interests of peace, we have pulled them back from the border area.
We now expect the same from Western Asia - the withdrawal of units from the border areas.
Border - Eye Ran
Al Anbar has completed fortifications along the Eye Ran-Al Anbar border to the depth of fifteen kilometres, organized into three defensive lines. Several army units have been reported manning positions along the defense zone, some units may even be from the Golan Heights area.

In Bases Along the Golan and across the Western Asian border with Al Anbar
Regional commanders receive new reports that some Al Anbar units have been withdrawn from forward positions. In return, newer deployments to the border have been ceased, the transporters are all turned back to the regional depots, and some of the infantry and armored units are moved back to motor pools and bases farther from the border camps.
The patrols of Sentinel and Condor units have been cut down and many of the units are sent back to their home bases for repair and maintenance.
While many of the armored units remain, they are scheduled to be withdrawn to their regional depots within the week. The enhanced combat training and weapons drills at the rear infantry camps are replaced by a more standard fare as the company commanders see less worry of an impending war.
A Message to Al Anbar
We have been pleased with your decision to withdraw forces from these regions and we've begun to do the same. We hope that these actions can build to a more general release from the recent tensions.

OOC: Read Gradenk's thread for an OOC explanation.
Semi-Secret: During the night, the Roanian citizens are moved to military bases, sensitive areas, and other probable positions that will be bombed. Word quickly spreads throughout Al Anbar that the Roanians have been moved to sensitive locations, although, no one knows what locations. This seems to have been "leaked" by several officials on the orders of Saddam Hussein.
In case of a war Al Anbar, do you want any of your citizens to be withdrawn to different cities, such as Athens. If you don't want to just say no and I'll be on my way.
Well, if you want to than you may telegram me saying you want to move 323,000 Civilians to my region for safety purposes.
Thank You,
Midwest Balka
Midwest Balka
We thank you for your kind offer, but we will not leave. All Iraqis will stand for their country and die if they must. No one will run away and take sanctuary in another country.
OOC: Just a slight continuation.
Ic:
Gradenk special Forces have completed their withdrawal from Al-Anbar. Though they did not manage to rescue any citizens, They have made contact with local guerrilas .
( AL-Anbar, I hope you allow me of contacts with the Kurdish Resistance and areas which are not under your command(especially Samarrah. In that way, Gradenk can Rp as an insider and also a supporter of the resistance . By the way, Who control the Kurdish and guerillas in Al-Anbar ? ).
Several hours later, With the units managed to slip through the security net of Al-Anbar to return to friendly territories with much difficulty.
OOC: The Kurds are like in real life - they are supported by the US and have semi-autonomy. Their areas are blockaded and nothing is allowed to come from Al Anbar into the part of Kurdistan they control and nothing from there can come to me. Lots of units are deployed along the front. I control about 50% of Kurdistan. There are no guerillas in my part. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdish Democratic Party control the mostly mountainous part of Kurdistan, where there is not much of anything there, other than some farming.
Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim.
The Leadership of the Republic of Al Anbar demands that the Ellian entity back down and cease building up offensive units in the Middle East. Should this not happen, we shall take to the defense of Al Anbar, and entitles us to strike against any and all enemy units in all territories around Al Anbar and the world. We will not let this aggression deter the strength and the will of the Iraqi people and we will fight until the death for our beliefs.
We have tried a peaceful solution several times now.. We have removed military units away from borders to decrease tensions with our neighbours, we have released most citizens. Any aggression against Al Anbar will be seen to the international community as a criminal act. Al Anbar will become the grave of all those who invade it.
Do not underestimate the will of millions of people worldwide.
Long live Al Anbar!
Long live Saddam Hussein!
Long live Palestine free and Arab from sea to river.
Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar!

Al Anbar, do you want to rethink my invitation for even though a lower amount of civilians, still some civilians.
I am willing to take 32,000 civilians under protection in a neutral zone of Dictator/Democracy where their are little or no government in the way of your people who can still live under your command in a small settlement in my nations lands, along the border of the Aegean Sea. (Roughly)

As the deadline passes, General Hammond announces the beginning of Operation Desert Sands to topple Saddam live on national TV.
"Good afternoon fellow Ellan citizens. A month ago, the tyrannous regime of Al-Anbar, lead by Saddam Hussein, detained many Ellan citizens illegally and without compensation. Our brothers were mistreated and tortured. Our women were raped and humilitated. Our children were neglected(OOC: This is his 'sexing up' of the story). They were all innocent. All victims of Saddam's regime.
So we asked Saddam to step down voluntarily, with no pressure and an offer of asylum. We then threatened Al-Anbar with justified military action to depose him. To this day, Saddam remains defiant, a constant threat to world peace.
Now the deadline for peace has passed, and unfortunately we must take military action for world peace and to remove this cancer from the earth. To do this I need your support. Tonight, our troops will begin the daunting task of removing Saddam from power and liberating the Iraqi people. It will be a difficult and at times, dangerous path, but it is the correct path, and one which we will look back on with pride and glory. Thank you for your support."
The crowd gives Hammond a standing ovation, as the Ellan flag is raised over the convention hall.
However, President Bill English remains seated, with a grimace on his face.
God, how many will die? he thought.
Mediteranean Sea

Begin Phase one of Operation Desert Sands.
The large naval force in the Mediteranean sea begin launching Tomahawk missiles at the Coastal missile units. ASW helicopters begin 24/7 patrols against submarines, and the carrier-based aircraft begin formation of an air-defence umbrealla.
On Iraqi State Television, Satellite Channels, and Radio:
A few hours after the first missiles are launched, Saddam Hussein appears on television and radio.
"In the name of God the merciful, the compassionate. To those against whom war is made, permission is given to fight because they are wronged; and verily, God is most powerful for their aid."
"O great people, O splendid men, the mujahideen of our heroic Armed Forces, O sons of our glorious Arab nation. With the dawn prayer today, 10 Sha'ban, 1424 of the Hegira, the reckless criminal, little English, and his henchmen carried out their crime with which they had been threatening Al Anbar and humanity."
"English's criminal deed is supported by those who sided with him. Thus, he and his followers have perpetrated further crimes to be added to the series of their despicable crimes against Al Anbar and humanity."
"O Iraqis and zealous men in our nation. Our sacrifices are for you, for the principles of our glorious Arab nation, for the jihad banners and your creed and values - our souls, kinfolk, and children. We will not repeat the duties of the splendid men and women in terms of what they must do in defence of the dear homeland and the principles and sanctities."
"However, I say that every one of us in the family of Al Anbar - the family which is patient and faithful, and which is hated by its evil enemies - should remember all that they have said or pledged to do."
"These days, whose events will be ordained by God, will add to your immortal annals. O splendid men and women, this is what you deserve in terms of glory and victory and whatever elevates your position before God. These days will humiliate the infidels, the enemies of God and humanity."
"You will triumph, O Iraqis, and with you the sons of your Arab nation will also triumph. Indeed, you are victorious and your enemies are in ignominy and shame, God willing."
(Islamic Poem)
Unsheathe your sword, fearless and intrepid. Unsheathe your sword so that Saturn might witness it.
Unsheathe your sword because the enemy has massed his forces. Only the sound-minded heroes will wipe them out.
Prepare your horses and give them free reins because they bring hope.
Let lightning brighten the dark skies until the true path is revealed and oppression is wiped out.
Kindle up the fire in the darkness with torches, to make the blind and stammering see his path.
Keep the fire on and make the ignominious and submissive fear it. Unsheathe your sword and let it shine; only the real man will win his rights. Raise your banners on every pole and pray to God to heal the wounds.
"O friends and those who resist evil in the world, peace be upon you. You have noticed how the reckless English disregarded your positions and views that you voiced against the war and disregarded your true calls for peace. He has perpetrated his macabre deed today."
"We pledge to you in our name, the name of the leadership, and the name of the Iraqi people and Al Anbar's heroic army, in the Iraq of civilization, faith, and history, that we will resist the invaders."
"God willing, we will pursue them until they lose their nerves and until they lose hope in realizing what they had planned and so that they might reach the low level to which they were driven by criminal Zionism and those with vested interests. Now that they have indulged in their evil and crimes, they will suffer such a defeat that all the faithful people and those who love mankind and those who sincerely seek peace wished."
"Al Anbar triumph and with Al Anbar will our Arab nation and mankind also triumph. The evil ones will be defeated because they will be unable to perpetrate crimes and commit murder, which the US-Zionist alliance have committed against nations and peoples, especially our glorious Arab nation."
"God is great. God is great. Long live Al Anbar and Palestine. God is great, God is great. Long live our glorious nation, human brotherhood, and those who love peace, security, and the right of people's to enjoy freedom and justice. God is great. May the lowly ones be accursed. Long live Al Anbar. Long live Al Anbar. Long live Jihad. Long live Palestine."

Psychological Warfare!
edit:
Might we add, that any attacks on Ell would drag the empire into this conflict. Although at the moment we're neutral . We would be forced to aid our ally and bring forth our machinery in the event Ell is attacked.
Iran has entered the war.
The first wave of cruise missiles targeted at all SAM sites withing 200 miles of the Border. Immediately following those strikes were MLRS barrages and Hunter-Killer attacks from aircraft along the first to lines of Al-Anbar's troops. Several T-4MS bombers are flying over Iraq right now, with orders to drop their bombs onto targets in Baghdad.
Iraqi Nationalist Radio
The radio station picks up very few listeners. The area that the radio covers is limited too, only parts of Syria are covered by the radio broadcasts.
Palaces
Two palaces inside of Syria, both in Damascus, are hit and moderately damaged. In Baghdad, the Republican, the Presidential, and Uday's sub-Palace are hit. Only is Uday's palace totally destroyed.
Republican Guard Bases
Bases in Syria are lightly damaged. Only a few guards are killed. All Republican Guards and their equipment have long left their bases and moved to defensive positions throughout the country.
Oil
Pumping facilities, oil lines, and oil wells throughout the country have been destroyed by dynamite placed by the government forces. Huge fires rage and black smoke can even be seen on weather radars.
Near Hamadar, Iran
A Captain order his men to open the 5 crates lying on the floor, inside each of the crates was an SS-N-25 Switchblade cruise missile. The captain then instructed them to be loaded into their launching tubes and to prepare them for launch. After completing the pre-launch procedure the keys for the missiles were turned, and the launch buttons pressed. Within seconds 5 missiles thundered out of the tubes and headed for their pre-determined target co-ordinates. These missiles were not your average ones, however. They each carried an EMP warhead which will destroy any electronics within 15 miles of the blast. 2 of them were targeted at Baghdad, the others headed towards Iraqi field command posts.

Ellan aircraft have taken to the skies to establish air superiority. Cruise missiles continue to bombard the coastal positions, while the 2nd fleet consisting of 25 destroyers, 50,000 marines, and 1,300 T90 tanks moves into position.
Aircraft entering Al Anbar airspace will be targetted with a number of mobile antiaircraft guns and mobile antiaircraft missile launchers. SA-2's, SA-3's, and SA-10's are common throughout the coastal area.
Satellite monitoring the coastal area will pick up that few, if any, troops are along the coastal regions. Damage is heavy to the fortifications along the coastal region.
Ships entering within fifty kilometres of the coastline will be targetted by the remaining Silkworm missiles. Ships entering within ten kilometres of the coastline will run into a heavy minefield.

To AF
Greetings,
The leadership of Al Anbar thanks you for pledging to support us, but we are unable to agree to your terms. The Roanians are under Al Anbar custody. We are unable to release them to you.
If you would still like to assist us in defeating our enemies, we are more than willing to welcome you to Al Anbar to assist.
You are the sole nation currently under the ban.
I think we will...but only in exchange for the Roanians, when our forces arrive they will be handed over to us for safe keeping, they will be taken back to the Vascilian League and we will aid you in the destruction of these..."Crusaders"
3 Legions, 1.2 Million men and women will be sent to the defence of Al Anbar, we will defend the Cities and the people of this nation with our lives...but that is the key word, defend. We will not attack unless provoked by an enemy incursion into your territory, The AF will shoot down any enemy aircraft or destroy any invasion into Al Anbar.
We will stand by the side of our new ally Al Anbar in the face of colonial aggression! Never again will we witness such disgusting acts of barbarism.

Helicopters based on the destroyers have begun minesweeping duties to clear a path through the minefiled with air support. Strike aircraft begin targetting Syrian air defenses, with E/A-16s lauching sorties at enemy SAM Radar sites with HARMs.
In the first combat casualty of the war, an F-16E was hit by AAA fire and crashed into the sea off the coast of Syria. An Osprey and a small squadron of aircraft have been sent to rescue the pilot who is confirmed alive.
After two radars are targetted and destroyed, the remaining radar switch off and go into a "switch on switch off" search mode. Every few minutes, the radars would be turned on for a few seconds to target an aircraft before switching off.

Roania troops advance unopposed until the outskirts of Khanaqin. Roanian troops entering the city will be attacked with RPG-7 attacks, troops armed with AK-47's, AK-103's, and tanks that have been positioned into the buildings. Most of the tanks are T-72M1's. A few T-80UD's have been positioned along the main roads.
Troops advancing along the highways or unpaved roads will encounter a large minefield that pretty much circles from the northeast to the southeast of the city.
Also along most of the major roads and on the unpaved roads are buried remotely detonated explosives.
Heavy bombardment commenced of Khanaqin positions. Bombers flew over head, Iraqi AA fire barely scratching their paint.
At the same time, several more legions entered the Kurdish controlled areas at Qal'At Dizat.

Qal'At Dizat
Roanian forces crossing the border from Eye Ran into the Kurdistan are first attacked by the Ansar al Islam units based around this area. Propaganda leaflets are dropped on the embattled defenders
<Surrender! You will be treated well!>
The Roanians in the north pull back after suffering 20 casualties. Massive aerial bombardment commences of the fortifications.
An hour or so after the dropping of the leaflets, two soldiers from Khanaqan surrender to the Roanians. If questioned, they will say that others are willing to surrender to and many who tried have been shot by Fedayeen Saddam units.
In Ansar al-Islam territory, the bombardment has destroyed several of the fortifications around the area where the fighting broke out with the advancing Roanians. Many positions further down the roads still exist but are hidden by the natural terrain.
The Roanians enter the town. Broadcasting this message to all:
<SURRENDER! YOU WILL BE TREATED WELL! FIGHT YOUR OPPRESSORS>
Right in front of the Roanians, three army soldiers come out of one of the buildings and begin to walk toward the Roanians. Suddenly, several shots from an AK-47 ring out and the three soldiers slump to the ground, dead.
"Death to Roania!" shouts the soldier in the building, and begins shooting at the Roanians. Fighting once again flares up, as buildings around the Roanians erupt in RPG-7 and AK-47 gunfire.
The Roanians hastily withdraw, but not before a tank fires its main cannon into the building.
Artillery bombardment recommences.
Buildings of the city are being levelled. Casulities are moderate.
From the other part of the city, fifteen 88mm mortars begin firing toward the Roanian lines. They are spread all over the western part of the city and stop firing after every five mortar shells to mvoe to a new location.
"Damn these Iraqis. Persistent, aren't they?" Captain George Hardy said as he entered the camp.
"Yes. But we have the city surrounded."
Indeed, Kanaqin was under siege. And every 5 minutes or so, several bombardments of propaganda leaflets fired out. Followed by Roanian mortars.
-----------
Several hundred soldiers had moved past Kanaqin, and were on the road to Bagdhad.
Massive aerial bombardment had commenced of the city.
Between Khanaqin and Baqubah, no Iraqi soldiers are seen. However, every few kilometres, there is an attack. Sometimes buried along the road, sometimes buried into the actually highway itself, is a bomb. They are remotely controlled and there is obviously someone watching them from afar, monitoring their progress because they are blowing up the explosives just as the enemy passes over it. Around the highways, is a lightly mined desert.
The Roanians have suffered several casualties.
They call in the bombers and level the road before them, using incendiary bombs on everything for a mile around.
----------------
The final attack begins on Kanaqin. The defenders have suffered severe defections, and the Feyadeen are starving because no food is reaching them.
OOC: Uh, can we say godmod? You cannot say what's happening to my troops.
OOC: It's realistic, I destroyed all their food supplies and am not letting anyone in.
OOC: It's realistic, I destroyed all their food supplies and am not letting anyone in.
OOC: Nor can you say that. You do not know what I have in the city and you can't say you destroyed everything. Sure you destroyed some, but not all.
OOC: If you say so...
IC:
The loop had been set up. Kanaqin was cut off from the rest of Al Anbar.
The captain looked at the map of the city that sattelite pictures had provided. "There is a great deal of activity in the central plaza, sir."
"Military?"
"Looks that way, sir."
"Bomb it."
The "military action" in the centre plaza of the city was actually a whole bunch of civilians lining up to get food from the few government distributing centres open. The civilians were massacred:
1,943 martyrs
796 wounded
On Iraqi television, on most Arab medias, and many worldwide television stations carry the pictures of the dead civilians, massacred.
Roanian propaganda fires in again.
<Surrender! You will not be harmed!>
"Civilians. Feh. Why were they carrying guns?"
The commander of the force of Khanaqin, in his headquarters in the city speaks to one of his aides:
"Look! Look what they did! They killed thousands of people... unarmed... hungry..." says the the commander, shaking his head. "To tell you the truth, Abd, I was going to surrender... but after this... I will fight to the death!"
Roanian forces, under flag of truce, enter the city to present the surrender documents and also take a look at the so-called 'civilians.'
They are kept from the site by Feyadeen, but the 'civilians' are unmistakably soldiers.
Fuck you, Roania. You godmod too much. I'm going to ignore you.
OOC: What are you talking about?
That's what an ordinary government would do, send people in to inspect.

"Greetings from GINA, bringing you the latest news that you need.
"As Ellan, Roanian, and Eye Ranian forces sweep into Al Anbar, anti-aircraft fire and missiles from the conflict have crossed the border, endangering civilians of Western Asia that find themselves too close to the border.
"Thankfully, the national ring of STHEL systems has been able to intercept most of the missiles and shells before they could do any significant damage to inhabited areas...but officials in the government were less-than pleased with the poorly-controlled firing of anti-aircraft missiles from Al Anbari SAM sites.
<A video clip fills the screen>
The scene is of a middle-aged government spokesperson at a news conference, he stands behind his podium and declares impressively that the government of Western Asia "Can only be pushed so far" before it takes action to defend its citizens.
<The video clip ends after the soundbite, returning the screen to the newscaster>
"It is now reported that IDF ground forces have been positioned to move into northwestern Al Anbar as a stability force if governmental order there collapses. Some government officials have also stated that airstrikes are being considered against SAM and AAA sites that continue to threaten Western Asian airspace and territory.
"One mentioned concern is that the citizens will fall under the harsh rule of other nations, which will not respect the rights of the citizens in those territories.
"While the government has yet to offer direct support for the Ellan invasion, the President and Congress haave already expressed a strong support for the opinions of Ell and they are, to quote, 'considering their options.'
"It is not unforseeable that the government might support the Ellan forces, as it did in Ell only a short time ago when that nation was threatened with invasion.
"As of now, we must wait for further news of progress on the part of the national government."
Theme music plays as the scene fades out and the station cuts to commercials.

>>>GINA Flash News Report>>>
At the signal, the reporter begins to speak to his audience
"Greetings from GINA, bringing you the latest news that you need.
"New reports have come in from the battles in Al Anbar. According to Ell's ANN, a Roanian bombing of Al Anbaran forces in the town of Khanaqin was marred by the collateral damage generated by the presence of Human Shields.
"Conflicting reports have come in from Al Anbar's state media sources, which have reported the incident as a bombing of innocent civilians who were waiting in lines for food. The Al Anbar authorities claim almost two thousand dead and hundreds wounded, some likely to die within the next few hours or days. No clear explanation has been given for why so many civilians would collect in such a public place in the midst of the fighting but we cannot say at this time which version of the story is true.
"An IDF commander contacted for a comment hinted that a small Western Asian undercover team might be sent to investigate the claims but would go no further than that.
"The depth of the USWA's committment to the support of Ell remains unclear at this time though foreign policy experts express beliefs that the two governments may be in close contact as the conflict continues.
"More news comes from our correspondant in Jerusalem."
<The scene cuts to a lone reporter, standing in front of governmental offices in the cold night>
"Thank you, Mel.
"Indeed, President Drucker commented today on the current situation with Al Anbar and Ell, but he seemed unwilling to lean too far towards either side in public.
"In spite of this balanced presentation, a Source within the administration have revealed to me that a number of the top advisors in the State Department have been involved in continuing debates over the issue. Officials from the IDF are reported to have urged intervention, if only to ensure that chaos and widespread disorder do not follow the combat. As my Source explains it, there is a suspicion of the intentions of some of the IDF's highest-ranking generals but the general balance favors the current position of neutrality.
"The situation here is tense and it does not seem likely that either side will be going home very soon."

Near the ongoing battle
A Search and Strike Patrol (SSP) of the 1st Western Asian Grand Fleet (Homeland Force) cautiously moves towards the warring combatants.
The SSP, consisting of only a lightly armed Corvette, a missile boat, and some patrol boats, tries to stay out of the action while still protecting Western Asian territorial waters.
As the crews watch the combat, warning lights and sirens begin to whine in the command section of the Corvette, the WAS Trafalgar.
The cold screens blink:
Radar Lock Detected.
...
Radar Lock Confirmed.
...
Missile Incoming.
...
Neutral Status Emergency Override Activated.
...
Automated Defensive Systems Activated.
On the deck of the small Trimaran Warship, the ship's forward Millennium gun turns to the missile and begins to fire at the quickly-approaching Exocet as the ship-killer skims the crests of the sea.
The AHEAD round burst about the missile, sending scores of minute, high-speed fragments that sand-blast the missile...destroying its seeker and ripping off some of its wings.
The missile suddenly veers off-course, slamming into the ocean as its warhead is wasted on the water...only a few meters from the ship.
Shrapnel and a good deal of sprayed water slams against the ship and the concussion of the blast shakes the ship slightly in the water.
The ship's commander immediately jumps on the radio, broadcasting on open frequencies.
"This is the Trafalgar, we are a neutral vessel! Repeat, we are a neutral vessel!
"We have taken fire.
"Do not fire upon this vessel or any of these Western Asian ships. We are neutral parties to this war."
The patrol boats are near the Syrian coast when a missile almost hits the Western Asian vessels..
A few minutes after the "incident", a radioman on one of the patrol boats radios to the Western Asians:
"The missile was detected as launched from an Ell vessel. None of our vessels have launched any missiles at your vessels."
Then a moment later, the patrolboat stops in the small port of the city of Jablah. The Ell pilot and his escorts disappear into the city.

"Ensign," he calls to one of the sailors, "tell one of our patrol boats to get whats left of that missile, if anything. I want to know what it was that was just fired at us."
As the sailor turns to a radio station and works to raise one of the patrol boats, the captain tells his comm officer to report the incident to the Homefront Naval Command, with a note that an investigation is underway.
Sitting down, the captain ponders the significance, and the danger, of the event. Even if they didn't mean to, it was still their missile. I hope that this doesn't lead us all down the path to hell.

The next morning.
At a Naval Base in Northern WA (about Lebanon), Intelligence Corps Base HQ
Captain Kesher, of the Trafalgar, stands about a table along with several officers of Aman, military intelligence, and some officers from the base. They look over the shreds of the rocket motor and shell casing, many of the parts bear arabic writing that tie the components to Al Anbar.
The leader of the base's intelligence detachment walks into the room and hands out a two-page packet before taking a position at the head of the table.
"As the good captain of the Trafalgar suspected," he says with a nod to Kesher, "this missile, or at least the parts that sit here before us, are definitely from a clone of the MM. 40 Exocet Ship-to-Ship missile. The imprints and labeling that survived the explosion confirm its origin in Al Anbar."
The man gives his crowd some time to take in the information before continuing, "Currently, we are aware that the Al Anbar ships intended the missile for Ell's Ospreys as they tried to complete a rescue mission for a pilot that is now imprisoned in Al Anbar. I believe that you've all seen the video of the pilot on the Al Anbar broadcasts by now...
"If the government does decide to go against the government of Al Anbar then this is good propoganda...but until then it could be problematic. In light of this, we are going to put out a simple statement to draw away any media attention from the truth of the matter. Our PR staff have prepared a 'leak' for several news agencies, including GINA, which has an established international viewership on its satellite re-broadcasts.
"The 'leak' will report properly that our patrols came under fire while observing the capture of an Ellan pilot by Al Anbari naval forces after Ellan rescue forces engaged them in combat. Yet the report will not confirm the origin of the missile nor will it bear any specific details.
"We want coverage here, not decisiveness.
"We expect the Ellans to produce a statement denying that it could be their missile and an Al Anbari statement similar to what they sent the Trafalgar in response to the initial reporting of the incident at sea.
"The report that I've handed you is a shortened version of events that outlines what can and cannot be said to reporters. The full report is available in my offices and copies of all documentation have been sent to the Intelligence Oversight Board.
"Captain Kesher, we need you to isolate as many sailors as possible from media coverage--most importantly those sailors who were on the bridge and who collected the downed missile parts. We want to control the spin on this issue very carefully.
"Barring any questions, this concludes the debriefing of this incident."
The meeting is soon adjourned and the Aman officers go off to their work while the Captain returns to his ship. The Captain still bears his anger over the incident, and the Al Anbar denial, but remains committed to keeping his secrets.
A few hours later, the story airs on the evening news and the debates over Western Asia's involvement begin to heat up with the new event. The report of the pilot's capture stands as counter-propoganda to the Al Anbar claims, but really only makes issues murkier. The media praises the Aman 'leak' for what it calls "a great openness and sense of duty towards the people of Western Asia and of their right to know about such events."

"I advise you to avoid confronting the Iraqi army and people."
"The leadership of Al Anbar and the people will not stand for any aggression by you or your allies."
"Do not be too hasty in joining Ell in their war of aggression against the Iraqi people."

And.. so... somehow you bypassed everything and have arrived at Baghdad? uh huh.
Well, let's see, what happened to Iraq in real life? And considering im about 3x as big an powerful as the USA is, and your economy is imploded beyond RL's Iraq, I could easily do that. Also, you never put up any defense against my army, so I just had them cross the desert and let artillery take care of villages.
Not to mention that Baghdad is only about 100 miles from the Iranian border.
Uh, right. Go away. You're Roania aren't you?

Around 30-40km South of Tartus.
A few hours after the Ellians setup their landing zone on the beaches of Syria, six 122mm artillery guns began to shoot their shells into the landing zone. The shells were, for the most part, badly aimed but usually landed within the controlled area of Ell.
Other than that, there has been no activity along the coast.

12 Marines recieved shrapnel wounds from a shell, with 2 in serious condition.
"Aircraft inbound!" screams Captain Hussein. Within seconds, all the artillery guns cease their shelling of the coast and all the crews are scrambling away and into hidden shelters near the guns.
Moments later, all six artillery guns are destroyed. A fire starts and three minutes later the ammunition trucks nearby the guns explodes. Twelve soldiers were killed and another four were wounded.
An hour later, another two 122mm artillery guns begin to shell the coastline with new guns in a Damascus suburb.

OOC: Remember, all that you know is that there was an incident that has been publicized (without bias about party)...the last bunch of messages have been secret IC.
IC:
Mel Brooks, talking head, sits, perked to attention, as he waits for the 'go' signal to broadcast.
>>>GINA Flash News Report>>>
At the signal, the reporter begins to speak to his audience
"Greetings from GINA, bringing you the latest news that you need.
"Even as the investigation of the so-called 'Trafalgar Incident' continues, more news and reports from the front have heightened tensions.
"Today, the government of Al Anbar released the following statement:
<Video Clip from Iraqi TV Runs>
"I advise you not to rush toward anything that you will regret, as you know that this leadership and the state leading the confrontation against the invaders are staying," says the Information Minister, reading the statement from Saddam Hussein.
"I advise you to avoid confronting the Iraqi army and people."
"The leadership of Al Anbar and the people will not stand for any aggression by you or your allies."
"Do not be too hasty in joining Ell in their war of aggression against the Iraqi people."
<Video Clip Ends>
"The message was signed by Saddam himself and foreign affairs specialists have taken the message as a pre-emptive threat to the government of Western Asia from a government already over-burdened with the weight of the Eye Ranian, Roanian, and Ellan assaults.
"President Drucker had a quick response to Saddam's accusations and it was echoed in the statements made by some prominent Senators and Congressmen."
<Video Clip Begins of President Drucker at a News Conference>
"Hussein, I sit here as the representative and the leader of the people of Western Asia and I have only one point for you to take--we will not be intimidated.
"We have not been hostile towards your forces, although you have constantly pushed our limits by threatening our citizens with artillery fire and bloody assault.
"Any actions that we take will be towards the greatest benefit of the innocent citizens of Al Anbar, who have been oppressed and dealt a poor deal by your leadership.
"We have not threatened Al Anbar with the cruelties with which you have threatened us repeatedly. Any action that you take against us will be aggression on your part and on your part alone.
"We will not go against the citizens of Al Anbar, we will seek the best that we can for them in all cases...even if it means defending them against your corrupt and failed government.
"We will not join any war against the Iraqi people...we will join the Iraqi people in a war for their self-control and freedom. Whether we become involved remains at the hands of these people that your government tears away at. These people are oppressed and they are without the economic opportunities that they deserve.
"We are not scared or worried by your empty threats. We will stand for the people, even as it may mean standing against the dictatorship, of Al Anbar.
"Be warned: we will not tolerate aggression against our citizens or forces."
<Video Clip Ends>
"As you can see, the President was firm and harsh in words to the Al Anbar government, which is viewed as an oppressive regime that has few civil rights, has outlawed political freedoms, and which cannot maintain any governmental services with its imploded economy.
"Some experts have mentioned that, even if Al Anbar survives the war, the government of the nation will find itself in massive debt, without funds for even basic governmental services.
"In related news, Ellan forces have been reported landing just about 30-40km south of Tartus of the Al Anbar province of Syria. This landing site is just north of the border with the state of Tripoli, the northern most of states in Western Asia.
"Fire from Al Anbar soldiers, directed against the landing force, was detected by IDF forces, as was the subsequent destruction of the artillery sites.
"Skirmishes around the sites are on-going.
"At this moment, no IDF forces have been ordered to move to the border, although thousands of soldiers sit in camps across the Lebanese territories awaiting any word of fighting. While the IDF Homefront Command has indicated an established uneasiness with the idea of such a massive and proximal war, it has not been ruled out.
"Updates will come as news is updated."

Iraqi Television, Radio
Second Saddam Tape - 10/11/03
"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate... This war produced the current decisive days in which the mujahidin and the entire people of Al Anbar are showing extreme courage..."
"O brothers, you know that our country's policy is to avoid evil, but when evil comes to us using the logic of treachery and destruction, there must be a stand of faith and jihad that honours those who adopt it and pleases God Almighty."
"Here you are today, O zealous Iraqi men, glorious Iraqi women and honourable men of our valiant mujahid armed forces. You are taking a stand that pleases every friend and all believers and frustrates the aggression and all non-believers. It is a stand with which you will achieve victory over your enemies and inflict the heaviest losses on them, God willing."
"You will achieve a clear and final victory after you have relied on God Almighty. The aggression and injustice have become clear to the near and far. Those who were misled by the enemies on the international level during and after 1991 have woken up with the public reawakening of humanity and the sons of our nation."
"Victory is near, bring the good tidings to the persevering believers. O Iraqis, these are your decisive days. O Iraqis, strike now as you are ordered by your God. Strike over the necks, strike their fingertips, and bring the good tidings to those who persevere."
"In these battles, and during these decisive days, the aggressors' attempts did not come through planes and missiles, like they did previously in their air attacks. This time, the enemy has sent forward its ground units. The enemy has therefore come to occupy your land."
"The Ellians, in most cases and even in this battle, avoid clashes that place them within range of our weapons. They let their planes fight for them more than personal weapons or weapons that are equivalent to ours..."
"So, O my dearest, strike it. O heroic mujahidin, strike your enemy with strength and accuracy. O Iraqis, strike them with the strength of the spirit of jihad which you are carrying. Exhaust the enemy to the point where it becomes unable to continue to commit further crimes against you, against your nation and against humanity..."
"O Arabs, O believers throughout the world, O comrades in right and enemies of evil and falsehood, we relay to you the glad tidings regarding the things that God has bestowed on us in the course of our struggle against foolish people, the enemies of mankind..."
"Under various names and descriptions, the Iraqi mujahidin are inflicting serious losses on the enemy. The enemy wanted to make the war short in order to extricate itself from its predicament but we hope, God willing, to make it long and heavy for it. It will be bogged down in the quagmire until it is stifled and until it is defeated in panic..."
"O mujahidin fighters on the land of Al Anbar, the ancient land, the land that witnessed the origin of the early prophets, I would like to mention at the outset the 11th Infantry Division and all its brave mujahidin..."
"In the 11th Infantry Division, I would like to mention the division's 45th Brigade, which raised the name of Al Anbar high in Khanaqin and which raised high the banner of jihad in that epic, along with the naval forces that joined them..."
"Greeting to all those who demonstrated solidarity with our people in this honourable showdown. Cursed be the villains and invaders, their assistants and those who advised them to commit evil or involved them in it because of their evil intentions. Long live Al Anbar. Long live Palestine, free and Arab from sea to river. God is great. God is great. God is great."

The small force have now arrived on the outskirts of Tartus and preparing to invade the city. Strike aircraft are being prepared aboard the carriers, with CAS Warthog IIs at the base in operational status. The following message is broadcasted via radio on all frequencies to the people of Tartus.
"Honorable citizens of Tartus, this is an announcement from your friends in Ell.
We are a merciful society, one which is preparing to liberate your town from the malevolent dictator Saddam Hussein. If you surrender to our forces, we will not harm you. You will be treated well and granted asylum in the faraway lands of Ell.
However, if you do not surrender, you will not have time to regret your decision. Ell's forces have taken minimal losses against Saddam's armies, while inflicting horrendous defeats upon them. Saddam's time is up. Once again, we reiterated our commitment and our wishes to work with the Iraqi people rather than against. You will be treated well if you do not resist."

There is no fire from the city during the encirclement operations, but soonest any troops enter the city they will face more or less the same experince as the Roanians in Khanaqin. Water supplies and food are cut off to the town. The message requesting their surrender is repeated again and again. 4 APCs and 3 T-90s begin pushing North into the suburbs.
Tartus
"Three T-90's and several APCs coming toward us. Orders?" comes the voice of Lieutenant Rahim.
"Allow them to drive on the street. Once they are on the street, attack them from the highest floors of your buildings. Use the two Milans and the RPG-7s." responds the Major.
"Yes, sir." responds Rahim.
Five minutes later
The tanks have entered onto the main street, where Rahim and his unit of one hundred and twenty five is based. Soonest the tanks and APCs are in the middle of the street, they fire at them from the second, third, and forth floorss of the buildings.
The RPG-7's and Milans would just bounce off the T-90's, you might kill the apc's depending on what kind they are
Baghdad outskirts, 2:30AM
After pounding baghdad with several thousand rockets, artillery shells, and several MOABs Iranian tanks are crossing the Tigris river into the outskirts of Baghdad. Their first target is the cratered Rasheed Airbase.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/spl/hi/middle_east/02/iraq_key_maps/img/maps/iraq_baghdad_map485.gif
400 OPLOT MBT's split into 2 columns and attack the airbase head on from the south, with Infantry in BMP-3's following closely behind. 3 columns each with 50 T-90's get into position to attack from the east with infantry support. Mi-28N's flying support are looking out for any iraqi vehicle foolish enough to show themselves.
This still does not explain how you got to Baghdad. Just because there were no troops at the BORDER doesn't mean there were no defenses in between. So, once again, go away.
20,000 tanks and 1,000,000 troops would slice through your defenses like a hot knife through butter. Plus I gave you SEVERAL days to state your defenses and losses, but you never did. Now, am I going to have to RP your resistance or are you going to stop pouting and play?
And, 20,000 tanks, most of which are very good T-80's and T-90's makes you a godmodder. Not even China, with over a billion population have so many advanced tanks. Scale down your numbers and go back to Iran.
Actually it doesn't, Russia has 30,000 tanks with a horrible economy, and the U.S. has 10,000 M1A2's with a economy that is about the same as mine. So I can afford them EASILY

(OOC) Plz note this is well over half the Dyelli Beybian navy. Dyelli Beybi is a country around the size of China with an economy better than the US, a high tax rate and ruled by a belligerent dictator with an unhealthy obsession with ships (The Airforce has gone quite neglected). I can send exact specs on all of these ships, but tha'd take up a lot of space. I've designed them myself using a variety of real world Russian and British systems (with a little bit of other stuff thrown in on the side). As a brief overview, they've got very heavy levels of AA defence and Missile Counter-Measures, Light Armour, Very Heavy electronics and travel somewhere between 25-30 knotts.
Also on the tank numbers, they are quite feasible, tanks are cheap on the scale of things. Especially if you're running Russian tanks which are cheaper and consume a lot less fuel than the US counterparts, you can field a lot. The only real limitations are the speed at which they can be built and the capacity of the logistical corp to keep them supplied.
Other OOC information - Sonar reports would probably also pick up 3 or 4 of the omni-present Dyelli Beybian submarine fleet in the area.

*Message to Western Asia*
Your warmongering will be ignored. We are interested only in rescuing the legitimate Government of Al Anbar from the continued Imperialist agression of Ell. At this stage we do not intend to fight a war, merely to warn Ell that their Imperial ambitions will not be tolerated. However, we will not hesitate to fire on Western Asian shipping or aircraft which enter within range of our fleet without prior notification of intentions.

Transmission to Dyelli Beybi
We are not the warmongerers, while Al Anbar has repeatedly dealt ill with us by continued threats of assault.
As you are interested in supporting the regime of Al Anbar we are interested in defending our citizens from Al Anbar's weaponry. If you move within those outlaid bounds it will be considered a threat to our nation.
Be warned, any attacks on commercial or military assets of Western Asia will be considered a war crime dealt upon a peaceful and uninvolved country. We are not combatants here but any strike on our properties will result in the utter destruction of all of your present forces.
You may position yourselves at sea, but may not move within the bounds described previously. We will not tolerate such threats to our national security.
OOC: I don't think that that really counts much as coding...

The ports of Al Ladhiqiyah and Jablah have been readied for your arrivals. Supplies are ready should you need them.
Signed,

With the signing of the cease-fire agreement, Regency Airways planes have begun delivering hundreds of engineers to the newly leased land onto the hastily constructed runway. A cargo boat containing $13 million worth of food and medical aid has docked in Tartus.
Tartus
Fedayeen soldiers in Tartus refuse to allow the Ellians to leave the dock area. They get workers from the city to load up government trucks, which then drive off to a supply depot in Damascus.

The Ellan aid workers are now embroiled in a war of words with the soldiers refusing to let them distribute aid.
A man arrives at the docks with a Fedayeen uniform on. He wears no rank insignias but it is obvious the other Fedayeen men know him. The man walks over to whoever is the leader of the aid workers.
"There has been no provision made for you to distribute the food and supplies. You will unload them and we will distribute them."

Meanwhile, Ellan troops have begun withdrawing from Tartus. The Ellan naval fleet has set sail for Ell, bar 2 destroyers.
Meanwhile my forces have taken control of half of baghdad.
That's some propaganda... You still haven't crossed the border!

Still waiting for damages from my strikes
After the massive artillery bombardment ceased the Iranian Army has crossed over into Iraq. Paratroopers are being dropped just behind enemy defensive positions and Anti-Tank aircraft and helicopters are flying constant CAS sorties

We will consider the proposition. As stated previously we do not mean to make war upon Western Asia...we do feel however, that such a war on Western Asia's part would prove extremely costly. We advise you think very carefully before engaging in any hostile military actions against the Empire.

Ell, shipping, the Empire suggests that you withdraw and cease hostilities against Al Anbar. They are an ally of the Empire and as such it is our duty to inform you that should you persist in attempting to overthrow the democratically elected Government of Al Anbar our Government may see fit, after consultation to issue a declaration of war.

This is the Trafalgar. We've been authorized to assume naval patrol duties for the defense of Ellan territories.
Our ships are only lightly armed but can serve as an escourt for Ellan vessels into and out of Al Anbar waters. This will protect the Ellan vessels and guide them away from Al Anbar forces to prevent any conflicts.
