Suitret holding Conference on Absolute Peace Principle

02-10-2003, 06:16
The Free Republic of Suitret wishes to announce it's first ever conference on the Absolute Peace Principle. Representatives from all nations are welcome to attend, and all views are welcome.

As some may know, the Free Republic of Suitret adheres to the Absolute Peace Principle. The ideals of this include, among other things, the utter lack of a military and under no circumstances resorting to force to resolve international disputes.

Those who follow the Absolute Peace Principle believe that war is pointless, any situation can be resolved through compassion and understanding, and, above all, violence is never neccesary. Even when under direct attack, nations who believe in this ideal will not retaliate with force--other means will be sufficient.

Anyone wishing to gain more information about this principle, or to debate it, is welcome to attend.

The host of this conference will be Vice Foriegn Minister Minerva Darlian. Suitret President Caden Arlyr will give the opening speech, as well as attend some of the discussions. The conference will be held in the Chikara Hotel in Cinq, Suitret's capitol.

(OOC- Though I've had my nation for a while, this is my first attempt at RP. I hope I'm doing alright, and that some people are interested.)

how would you deal with genocidal maniacs? diplomacy can't work if your opponent isn't sane

The Community of the Al Bhed will send a representative. We cannot see your principle as practical in this world, but we applaud your vision.

Current President Caden Arlyr has in fact written an essay on just this subject. Here's a small snippet:

"No matter how irrational a supreme ruler is, they are still only one man. Indeed, it is especially those who are irrational who are only one man. It is not through some mystical force that their demands are carried out--they without exception have human subordinates, who are capable of independent thought. These people can easily isolate the leader, and prevent him from doing any harm. Peaceful resistance, in the right place, can make sure that the damage done by any misguided individual is stopped."

It is, however, an interesting proposition, and I certainly hope that many others come to share their views on the subject.

yes but dictators inevitable have some loyal supports who will keep killing your peacefull protesters until you stop sending them. And it is eiser said then done to organize a sucessful revolt especially if you won't offer the revolutionaries military assistance.
