Maxxian terrorists aprehended and executed

(OOC: taken from http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=65716 )

Famicon Oil Tanker The McRippa has had an accident today, when it was transporting oil from privately owned oil fields in Maxxia back to Yoshiville Port. When it allegedly ran into a sandbank, its hull ruptured and it sunk. Luckily, the oil containers were undamaged and nothing has been spilled into the sea.
An anonymous analyst has sent us the message that this might have been more than just an accident, and suggests that Maxxian terrorists are behind this. Wether this is true, and if so, why, is not known to us.

Seamus Finnerty, Elder High Councellor of Maxxia has given his official statement concerning the accident.

"There were no, I repeat NO terrorists sponsored by the Maxxian governement involved in the accident with the Famiconian oil tanker. The fact that Famicon economically sucks us dry by exploiting privately owned oil fields on our soil does not make us mad at all. Our citizens are not at all pissed off at the fact that the most they can afford for dinner is dry bread and water.
Nor the fact that Famicon's best tennis player can only barely win the biggest tournament in the region thanks to our top player, but she gets all the credit, and most of the money, while our star is left with peanuts. No sir! We are not mad at all!"

Today, a spokesperson of the Famicon Government has given us this message:
"We have never officially spoken of terrorists, and it wouldn't even come into our minds that any terrorists fighting against our glorious republic would be sponsorred by our colony ... I mean NEIGHBOUR Maxxia. We do, however, feel that this lapsus linguae can be interpretted as meaning there are terrorists sponsorred by Maxxia, and as such we have apprehended fifty suspicious Maxxians who will be executed at dawn tomorrow!"

This ends our news special. Be sure to tune in to the live airing of the executions tomorrow.

Oh, so now we're your colony, eh? WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT! Release your prisoners immediately or we will release them ourself. You have been warned.
27-09-2003, 16:14
oh... and what exactly are you going to do? Throw cow pies at us? You don't even have sea-worthy boats... you can't touch us!
27-09-2003, 16:16
I resent that remark! Cow pies? What do you think we are, Yoshiville farmers?
27-09-2003, 16:20
Oh haha, very funny. You're just jealous because Yoshiville is the biggest port in all of Witloof en Spruitjes. Go cry to your mommy.

Oh and, the executions are still scheduled for dawn tomorrow.
27-09-2003, 18:55
We'll give you something to cry about. Mark my words. The day you messed with Maxxia will be a black day in your history!

In the black of night, four masked figures approach a big, iron fence. "Do not enter" it says, "Beware of electrical current", "Keep out" and "Property of FNOR" are written on plaques hanging on the gate. One of the four figures takes a huge pair of hedgescissors out of a bag, hedgescissors with rubber handles, electrical isolators. He hands it over to one of the more muscular persons of the group, who immediately proceeds to cut open the locks on the gate, while the other three look around for security.
After about three minutes they're through. A third figure puts on rubber gloves and silently tries to open the gate, very carefully. The other three pass through and are followed by the one who opened the gate. After a few metres one of them stays behind and drops to the ground. He takes his sniper rifle and puts it before him. Then he starts looking for security, taking out every guard he can see.
The others soon arrive at the building behind the gate. It appears to be an oil raffinary, which they of course knew. They are standing before a locked door. One of them takes what appears to be an advanced lockpick. After prying with the contraption in the lock for fourty seconds, the door opens. The trio quietly enters and all three take out their handguns with silencers. Stealthily they move from room to room, from hallway to hallway, until they finally arrive at their main target.
The apparant leader takes a tiny black box out of the bag strapped to his back. He attaches it to the wall. Then he walks over to one of the computer consoles in the room. He presses a few buttons. He's into the system. He changes some security options, so they can't trace from which room he did this. Suddenly the Rolling Stones cover Paint it Black by Marduk starts to play, all over the building. One of the other two presses a small button on the tiny box attached to the wall. A little light starts to flash on it. The three figures run out of the building as fast as they can.
The sniper outside hears his cue. He too leaves so fast, his tail seems on fire. The song stops playing, simply because it is finished.
BOOM!
The building is gone up in flames. In the distance, the four figures can hear a fire truck, but they know it will be to no avail. The raffinary will keep burning until it is reduced to ashes. The leader smirks, and puts the pedal to the metal. The four escape in an unmarked minivan.

The Draztonian Government officially declared its neutrality in this conflict. Although Famicon shouldn't try to economically rape the Maxxian people for its own gain, and we MOST CERTAINLY do not approve of the death penalty, Maxxia isn't without blame either, as it shouldn't have resorted to terrorism to try and resolve things. As such, we wish to provide for a safe place where a peace conference can be held. Economical penalties will be considered if you do not at least attempt to resolve this conflict peacefully.
Oh, and we demand the "terrorists" are released until proof against them has been found. We are willing to keep them safe if you believe them to pose a threat to the Famiconian people.
01-10-2003, 09:50
We will accept your offer to have a peace conference in Draztonia, if Maxxia will refrain from terrorist actions during that time. Shall we say ... in Diplomacy Square?
01-10-2003, 09:55
I acknowledge you to be willing to talk, and as such will accept your invitation. I must also stress out that the official government has nothing to do with the terrorist actions, and as such can hardly stop them.
01-10-2003, 20:06
Our beloved President Theodore McRippa, his brother Duke Billy McRippa (Draztonian Ambassador) and Sir Basil Curry will attend the conference. Sir Johnnie Doe will be in charge of the Council of Thugs at the time.

In Draztonia, one of the vacant Diplomacy Square buildings is being prepared for the peace conference.

(ooc: post your arrivals)
05-10-2003, 13:15
President McRippa and Sir Basil Curry came in seperate limousines. Ambassador McRippa, who resided in the neighbouring building, came by foot, haunted by nearly fifty journalists. All he could say was "No Comment!"
05-10-2003, 13:16
Seamus Finnerty arrived by helicopter, which had costed Maxxia half of it's GDP.

08-10-2003, 13:31
V. Van Dyck, the Draztonian Head of State, had come down from Draztopolis personally to lead the conference. After meeting up with the leaders of Maxxia and Famicon, they left for the Conference Hall.

Seamus Finnerty arrived by helicopter, which had costed Maxxia half of it's GDP.

ooc- how are you planning to get back again?
08-10-2003, 15:32
ooc: with the same helicopter ... it cost half of my gdp to BUY it ... I can still use it :P the gas doesn't cost much ;)

After the three leaders had their lunch together, they went to the Main Hall. Mr. Van Dyck made the opening speech.

"My fellow Draztonians. My fellow Maxxians and Famiconians. My fellow denizens of Witloof en Spruitjes. We have gathered here today in an attempt to solve the Maxxian-Famiconian dispute. We have gathered here today in an effort for peace. The road to peace is a long one, and not an easy one at that, but I believe, with such illustrious diplomats as yourselves travelling with me today, we can make it!

I now open the floor to my colleagues, Mr. McRippa and Mr. Finnerty. I hereby declare this Peace Conference OPENED."
10-10-2003, 22:43
Beep beep beep!

Basil Curry's cell phone went off, almost a second after Draztonian Head of State V. Van Dyck ended his little speech. He exited the room for a small while, then he returned and walked over to President McRippa. He whispered something in his ear. The President whispered back "I'll go myself. You know more about this matter than me, you were involved in the original attacks. It's better you handle this. I just hope this doesn't take all week."
12-10-2003, 11:53
Lefty McRippa pulled up in his limo again and walked back into the conference room. "Bloody wankers pulled a prank on me. Let's get back to business."
12-10-2003, 13:57
Mr. Seamus Finnerty stepped up to the microphone, and began his speech.

"A week ago, a tragedy happened off our coast. A Famiconian Oil Tanker ran, or was run, into a sandbank. The Famiconian government subsequently claimed this was the work of Maxxian terrorits, while some voices in Maxxia claimed it were Famiconian operatives, trying to set up Maxxia, who caused this. It is the official viewpoint of the Maxxian Government that we just DON'T KNOW what happened. Most likely it was just an accident. However, a conflict escalated, and that's why I stand here before you today, to ask you to help wield of the agressor, that Famicon really is, and to protect our souvereignity."

Mr. Finnerty stepped down.
12-10-2003, 17:11
Basil Curry took the stage.

"I must stress out that when I accidentally called Maxxia a colony, I meant it in a figuratively, economic way. Because, admit it guys, Maxxia is totally dependant of Famicon. I mean, you guys even have the same currency! And if I offended you, well I apologize for that perticular choice of words, but I meant it in the most positive way possible."

Basil Curry stepped down.
17-10-2003, 17:09
"We wouldn't be so dependant on Famicon if your multinationals didn't systematically buy out all Maxxian companies, even with support from your government! Perhaps we should use our military to force the Famiconian capitalist oppressors out!"
18-10-2003, 12:53
"Oh puh-lease. My police force could piss down your army with their hands tied behind their backs. We're sooo scared now."
Draztonia
18-10-2003, 15:49
"Now now, need I remind you we are at a PEACE conference? Or need I remind you my police force is better trained, better equipped and more numerous than both of your militaries combined? No more talk of war please."
22-10-2003, 18:24
President McRippa gave Basil Curry a slap against the back of his head.
"Sh, you'll mess up our plans ... ehm, eh ... HE'S RIGHT, WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT PEACE!"
25-10-2003, 17:09
"It is too late for talk. We have seen through your façade. Release our prisonners NOW, or face our WRATH."
27-10-2003, 09:25
"What wrath? You don't even have the balls to do anything. And I'll prove it."
President McRippa called his Regent in Famicon. "Mr. Doe. Execute the prisonners."

He put down the cellular phone and turned back to the Maxxian delegation.
"Now show me your puny little wrath, boys."
27-10-2003, 12:56
The Free Land of Lunoris has to object to simple execution of those prisoners. As far as we have understood those prisoners have yet to have a decent trial.

Then you might be sorry to hear that they have in fact been publically shot.
27-10-2003, 13:10
Have the prisoners had a trial? A normal trial? Has there been taken care of the families they let behind?

Did they care for the 103 sailors that were killed when they sunk that oil tanker? Did they think about the lives lost because of the explosion in the Oil Raffinary, not to mention the people that lost their jobs because of it?
27-10-2003, 13:17
That, sir!, is not what I asked you. I simple asked if they had a trail in which they were proven guilty. Which, in my honest opinion is impossible. You can not have a good trial in 1 day. Impossible I say.

(OOC: this has been going on for several weeks RL and about a week IC.)

They had already had a trial, but their execution was put on hold for the peace conference. Guess it didn't work out.
27-10-2003, 14:26
OOC::: Hmm, I thought they were detained and would be excecuted the day after. My mistake

IC: Was the trail a fair one?
27-10-2003, 14:41
(OOC: nope, it wasn't)

IC: Of course! All trials held in Famicon are fair. President McRippa and his Regents NEVER make mistakes!
27-10-2003, 14:49
Is there prove that it was a fair one(I want tapes, etc etc =)).

They have no proof. There is no proof. There was no trial. The Maxxians that were arrested did not have anything to do with the terrorist actions. The oil tanker incident was just that, an incident. We have nothing to do with it. And the people responsible for the other attacks are already arrested by our own police force. Famicon is just looking for a reason to colonize us.
27-10-2003, 15:34
We would also like proof of your side that those responsible have been captured. And if this is true about the trail, we will have a discussion in our region. We might decide to come to your aid.

(ooc: rather not, I'm doing as much as I can to make it seem as if I'm putting up a fight. but really I'm not. I'm famicon's puppet, after all)
27-10-2003, 15:44
OOC::: I was getting that idea, but my nation still has to have prove, or will not join either side. So, if you want help, just present the prove, and you might have yourself a new ally.
27-10-2003, 15:48
(OOC: the thing is, I've been itching for weeks to colonize my nice little puppet and start myself a little Empire. But, as you're just a small nation, it might prove good for Maxxia to have an ally.)
27-10-2003, 15:56
We have the proof right here! Here's the data on Horace Baldwin, the prime suspect and leader of the Maxxian Freedom Army. He is the owner of an unliscenced black minivan, of the type seen at the crime scene, which has no plates. He has no alibi for the time of the assault and as such he has confessed being ivolved with the terrorist attacks on Famiconian properties on Maxxia. He does however maintain having nothing to do with the tanker incident.
27-10-2003, 16:04
OOC::: Euhms... Famicon? The problem is that we are actually ally hunting at the moment, so I'm quite save when I say I got a big bunch of my region backing me.... not that those will be called in... it would be bad RP.. But i thought you might wanted to know you should not underestimate me.

IC::: That is indeed proof. We want to see proof of the trail of Famicon within a month(Lets say 1 RL hour, or, after your first response(if you are away ofcourse you can't help it and I will go back on my steps). If we are not presented with proof we will ally ourself by the side Maxxia. This meaning we will give them support when needed, and will start shipping food right away.

The people of Draztonia are highly unpleased with the way their government attempted to settle the Maxxian-Famiconian conflict, and demand a regime change. Therefore, emergency elections will be held.
