Daistallia
02-10-2003, 19:13
OOC: run around, have fun, find *minor* irregularities. The elections are quite clean, but I am sure you can find some minor dirt. All monitors have my permission to find some small dirt, as long as the election reports come out clean. :) Reports of exess dirt will be ignored as unrealistic. Other than that, the odds and percentages posted should be a fairly accurate indication of the peoples wishes, and will be reflected as such in the end.

*Hello, I*m Gerard Taeing and this is the DBN morning news. For the first time since our nations founding national elections are being held today. Polls opened at 8:00 am local time and will remain open until 8:00 in the evening.
*We would also like to welcome the monitors from Fluttergork, Celeborne, and most especially Celdonia. The Celdonian monitors had a spot of trouble upon arriving, as they went unrecognised at the airport by their official greeters.
*And now on to other news...*

"Good afternoon! Gerard Taeing with an update. Minor conflicts have been reported between Stalii Heritage Part supporters and WFP supporters at some polling stations in the Great Kraels. Reports are sketchy at the moment, but we will bring you updates as we get more information."
03-10-2003, 14:20
Fluttergorkian Monitors report shady activity at one of the voting booths on the south side. It seems that poll workers are keeping small flasks of whiskey in their desks...

"Good afternoon! Gerard Taeing here again. Jon "Quickbuk" Fraek, athe leading handicapper in Daistallia city is here in the studio.
"Jon, how do the elections appear to be turning out?"

JF: "Well, Gerard the favorites going into this election, that would be the LDP and DEP, do appear to be doing quite well according to the most recent exit polls. There has been a bit of a surprise from the Union Party, however. In some exit polls the UP's numbers are matching some of the major parties numbers. The numbers aren't good enough to reach the presidency, but are surprising none the less."

OOC: We'll probably let this drag on til at least Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm cooking my Yankee Killer Chili tomorrow for a bunch of new Yorkers, Canadians, and Japanese hangers on... hope they can handle the chipoltles, jalapenos, thai chiles, and habaneros.... :D Then Monday is a bit of an early day at work. Hopefully I'll have a bit of time to post in between. And even better, I hope the server is back up before then....

***MEMORANDUM***

To: Daistallia
Fm: Empire of Fluttergork Election Monitoring Team

A hearty greeting and overdue congratulations on running a successful election and gaining a wonderful new president. King Roland has asked us to invite you for a state dinner at a date of your choosing. We do hope you will be able to attend.

As for our report, we noticed a few difficiencies that were too minor to bring attention to at the time.

1. We were amazed to see that so many people brought their household pets to the election booths with them. However, we feel that this is a security risk because a lot of horses could look like a person if dressed properly. It would be horrible if one snuck in and cast his own vote!

2. The incident with the alcohol and one of the vote counters was a big misunderstanding. It turns out that it wasn't several people drinking, just one old fat guy who only said that "My roach died." We leave it to you to determine if the roach in question met with foul play.

3. Absentee Ballots were arriving in the mail for days after the election. In the future set the deadline date for absentee ballots for the day of the election, not two weeks after. Unlesss of course they have a doctors note proving they were sick, drunk, or stoned.

All in all, a fair election. If we are ever needed again, please don't hesititate.

Sincerely,

These humble representatives of the Empire of Fluttergork.
