"Hmm, I see. Sorry for your parents though."

Angela opens the door and turns on the lights. She remembers Stacey's dripping wet clothes, so she goes into her room and gives her Olsen Twins T-shirts and shorts.

"Sorry, that's all I have. Oh, and Honjak, need any ice for your um......bruising?"

"Um... No thank you, heh heh... The bruises on my legs and arms are OK, and the cuts on my arms are ok too. So no thank you.

Nice house, seems to be clean."

Stacy looks over the garden briefly before walking in the house. She takes the clothes, looks at them, shrugs and ducks into the nearest room to change. She reappears a few minutes later and sinks into a plush couch.

"I like this place." She remarks, smiling.

Honjak carries his small baggage, and a small locked briefcase, and looked.

"May I just settle the baggages there?", Honjak pointed at an empty corner near the door, asking Angela.

It is an Omzian tradition to place guests' valuables and baggages near teh door.

"Sure, you can leave them there."

Angela then goes on to put on some music.

"Ah, thanks."

Honjak walked over, and put his baggage there. About his locked briefcase, however, he placed it near the baggage --- where he can see it.

He definately does't want to have a report of "Mission Failed" to the higher ranks.

Caroline sits by the side, watching.

Angela opens a bottle of wine and gets four glasses.
"Caroline, Stacey, honjak, like some wine?"

"No thanks, I am not really into wine... nor do I like the taste of it."

Caroline nods thankfully. She doesn't say anything. I wonder if my family is all right.

Honjak whispered at Angela.

"Caroline seems to be worried. Should we have a talk with her? I'm worried..."

Angela approaches Caroline and take a seat.

"If it's your family your're worried about, you could try make a phone call."

Honjak added,

"Yes, phones and internet... How about mail?"

"If I had a hacker to break through the government firewall, I'd use e-mail." Caroline said as she dialed her number.

A machine picked up. <We're sorry, this line was disconected by the HRI Telephone Company. Building you a better Roania>

Caroline dropped the phone. "No..."

"What the fu... err, why is your country so secular? I feel something bad is going on with your family", Honjak said with worry.

Angela whispered to Honjak.
"Oh dear, bad news.."

Honjak brought his laptop out, and saw a power outlet.

Caroline let the phone drop. She buried her face in her hands. "They're all dead..."

"Sure, go ahead Honjak"

Angela turned to Caroline.

"How can you be so sure?"

Angela dialed the number to her brother's mobile and waited.

"They get taken for reprogramming. For treason..." Caroline is unable to finish the sentence.

"What do you mean by reprogramming?"

"They're sent to other parts of Roania, and brainwashed. They're never seen again. But I'm a 'traitor', and they would have other, more suitable punishments. Call your brother, he might be able to do something."

Angela walks out of the room as her brother picks up.

Caroline sat back and drank her wine.

Angela walked back into the living room.
"He says he can access the satellite images to try and find where they went, but there's not much else he can do."

"Ah..." Caroline sniffed back tears. "Still, I survived their kill team, I'm sure that my family is fine."

"Do you think they will send someone else?"

Angela whipsered to Honjak.
"Do you think she's alright? She seems to be having...mood swings."

"I understand, we'll see. In the meanwhile, take care of her. She still seems to be worried.

And oh yes, make sure you keep the phone in reach at all times. I sense something's going to happen."

"Let me try something, Honjak." Stacy said as she sat down in front of the laptop.

She cracked her fingers, and got to work. After manipulating the code of a few firewalls and hacking past several passcode checkers, she hit a brick wall, in a sense, and couldn't get any further into the citizen roster of Roania.

"Damnit. Wait...yes..." She said, finding a crack in the code and getting past the wall.

She typed like a speed demon, fingers flying lightly over the keyboard.

"This doesn't look good..." She said mournfully. "She's been moved to a target list. Apparently, you posses some information they can't afford to let out. They'll be coming back, Caroline. As for your family..."

Stacy shook her head, rage building within her.

Angela looked back at Caroline.
"Do you remember anything much from before you jumped?"

"Very good skills, anyways... Sad news. I'll get prepared. Hmm, know any good knife stores around here?", Honjak said quickly. "The ones we met earlier will come back."

"Knives...well, I did buy a Miracle blade off one of those informercials here."

Angela rushes into the kitchen to get a 50cm long knife.

"There's something else I wanted to show you..."

Honjak looked.

"No, no... We need those combat knifes, also different from your everyday kitchen knifes. Anyways, what do you want to show me?"

Angela looked back at Caroline.
"Do you remember anything much from before you jumped?"

"My captain gave me something... he said to give it to a friendly nation, so that they can pass that information to the CRO. Edward Black has always disliked knowing bad news, and he is dying, so the government does everything in its power to keep bad things away from him. Here it is..." Caroline unzipped a sleeve and pulled out a floppy disk.

Honjak looked.

"No, no... We need those combat knifes, also different from your everyday kitchen knifes. Anyways, what do you want to show me?"

Angela passed Honjak a box. "I think this is it." After that, she looks at the screen. "So....they are sacred they will be in violation of the UN's principles?"

Then, Honjak looked at the screen. A rush of anger came up.

"Bastards", he roared.

Angela passed Honjak a box. "I think this is it." After that, she looks at the screen. "So....they are scared they will be in violation of the UN's principles?"

"UN?" Caroline asked uneasily. "You mean that's what they're after?"

"I don't think they want the rest of the world to know what they do..."

"Then..."

"If we tell the world about your story and what's on the disk, they might back down and release your family!"

"Or they might put those strategies to use against Ell, and call in SAVIOUR." Caroline shook her head.

"Yes, but.......true.....We need a miracle."

"However, we could threaten to reveal the disk."

Angela boots up her computer and begins finding the email addresses of the world's major news networks.

At Honjak's complimenting her hacking skills, she looks up at him, smiles, and remarks, "Thanks, I just kinda taught myself in my time when there wasn't anything going on."

Stacy's cell phone rings, and she picks it up from the table and walks outside. When she returns, it is obvious she has been crying. She slumps down onto the couch and puts her head in her hands.

"Damn them..." Is all she mumbles.

"What happened?"

Honjak was suprised by Stacy's reaction.

"What's.. wrong?", he asked.

Caroline looks concerned. "What's wrong?"

"My...brother...rebels...mine...execution..." She sobbed out.

"Sorry?" Caroline says gently.

Stacy takes a deep ragged breath and begins, "There is a massive civil war in Cyberutopia at the moment, between the capitalist rebels and the standing democratic government. My brother, a lieutenant of Platoon 1, Company 12, Brigade 4 of the army, was out on patrol when...when...the point element stumbled into a booby trap, and the patrol was ambushed. My brother was captured and exectuted. The rebels always make a big show of executions. So...that's that."

Honjak thought about it, and said after he sighed,

"War. Death. I'm sorry..."

"Yeah, I'm sure you are." She said bitterly.

Angela places an arm on Stacey's shoulder. "I'm sorry."

"Yeah, I'm sure you are." She said bitterly.

"Wait. I see a way to solve both our problems. Angela, send the floppy disk information to the rebel leader. Then inform the Roanian ambassador..." :twisted: Caroline looks at Stacey. "We are, truly sorry."

"Um...I don't see how that'll work but I do it."

Angela sends the disk info to the rebels,and types an email to the Roanian ambassador.

"I'm sorry for being bitter, I'm just very angry." Stacy says. "How will sending the information to the rebels help? They already do all those things."

The Roanian ambassador looks at the e-mail. He picks up the phone. "Master Richelieu, the rebellion in CyberUtopia has the information."

Then we will have to take steps...

Stacy's frown transforms into a grin. A very evil, wicked grin.

"Nice plan, Caroline." She says, smiling up at her.

Angela still looks dumbfounded.
"....I still don't get it..."

"I can understadn, Stacy. My grandparents were murdered in 1959, by the former Omzian communist regime, just because they... fed the escaping rebel soldiers in the civil war."

Honjak went near a window, and looked at teh dark sky.

"Now that the rebels have the information, the Roanians will have to attack the rebels to get the information back. However, it is practically guaranteed the information will fall into the hands of the Cyberutopian government, and Roania will be exposed." Stacy explains.

Angela still looks dumbfounded.
"....I still don't get it..."


"You yourself said that my peo... I mean the Roanians, would do whatever it takes to stop that information from getting out. Now the rebels have that information..."

Stacy goes to stand beside Honjak. She places a hand on his shoulder.

"Tragedy seems to be a given in life, Honjak. If there's one thing you can take comfort in, it's that you'll never be alone." She says softly.

"True. It is time to move on..."

Stacy smiles at Honjak and looked up into the stars with him.

"They're beautiful." She remarked, gazing at the twinkling pinpoints of brightness.

"Of course. Bright sky tonight, and look at the moon."

The previous song on the CD finishes, and a romantic sonata starts to play.

She nods again in agreement and moves ever so slightly closer to Honjak.

Oh yeah, my job..., Honjak suddenly remembered.

"Hmm, what time is... it?", Honjak asked quickly.

"So how long do you think the Roanians will take?"

Stacy glances at her watch. "About quarter after eight."

"Ah, thank you." Honjak said.

The TV continues on to remark, "No action has been taken against this mystery force yet, but officials of Cyberutopia are looking to question the force when they are finished destroying the rebels."

"Well, guess it's a wait and see."

A massive explosion has just occured at the rebel HQ. It is believed that the mysterious third party was behind this attack. Almost all furniture, tents, living quarters, everything, was destroyed.

By now, Angela is getting very drunk. She places her head on Honjak's lap.

"Uh... Shouldn't you get some sleep... Angela?", Honjak asked.

"Yeah, I think she should. Angela, you look totally drunk." Stacy says, inspecting Angela.

Angela picks up the phone and tries to dial the news cast in Cyberutopia.

"Well, Ell has a network of satellites which continuously monitor the earth. These pictures are of the city where your family lived for the last week, with one shot every 10 minutes."

"Wait... perhaps I can apply for refugee status here in Ell! Then the Ellan government would pressure the Roanians to hand my family over to me. Or am I placing too much faith in your people, or asking too much?" Caroline said, depressed.

"Some money, pressure and the return of the disk to Roania might persuade them." Chris says.

"Where's the Roanian embassy?"

"It's about half an hour's drive from here. But we need to get an Ellan diplomat with us."

"Oh..." Caroline thinks for a second. "You don't allow diplomats to have weapons, do you?"

Chris pauses.

"They are allowed to carry arms in dangerous situations, according to the law."

"Ah... tell me, to an evil dictatorship, what would be an emergency? Being surrounded by free people? Who don't like your nation's policies?" Caroline asked innocently.

"What's the worst they can do?... you don't have to come. When I set foot inside that embassy I'll probably be shot."

Chris covers his mouth.

Caroline looks confused, then angry, then amused.

"w..what I meant is, we could disguise ourselves as...as reporters maybe, and try to pressure them into releasing your family."

"If you think that will work..." Caroline says, still smiling.

"Now if anyone knows any person with diplomatic connections who could help us.."

"In Cyberutopia, yes, I've got connections. But I just arrived in Ell. I don't know anyone other than who's in front of me right now." Stacy says, then she looks to Chris. "I'm sorry, I never introduced myself. The name's Stacy. Nice to meet you."

"I doubt the higher ranks would really listen to me though..."

"I've got a short term solution, but it'll cause big problems after a while." Stacy remarked.

"Send the list to the Cyberutopian military. We could change the e-mail address to make it appear to be from a high ranking general. Tag it ultra-high priority and potentially threatening to the nation, and it should go into effect right away. The fake e-mail should hold up long enough for the list to get out to the world, so we can deal with the Roanians for Caroline's family. Now, in the long term, well...you can guess what'd happen. We'd probably be found out, and exectuted or otherwise punished severly."

"True. Sounds like a plan." She says, smiling over at Chris.

Chris takes the discs out off the computer. "It's done, shall we get going?"

"Yes, lets." She says, leading the way out of the house. "Angela, are we taking your car?"

"Oh yeah, Chris can drive, I'm a bit drunk."

Angela and Chris open the doors and start the engine.

"What do you think will happen? Protesters at the embassy? International Outrage? There's no real proof, most witnesses are in no position to speak."

"Cyberutopis mistakes it as a threat from Roania, they apply pressure, we dress up as reporters and get your family out."

"Kay."

The car begins heading towards the city's library.

Caroline looks out the window. "Look at all the happy people."

A black limosine begins following Angela's car. The loudspeakers on it yell at Angela.

"Angela Davies, pull over immediately."

Chris pulls to a stop, and one of the men from the rear car get off.
"Hi, I'm McNole. General Hammond knows about your situation and wants to put you into protection. He's also negotiating for the release of your family, and he needs the disks to back him up. Will you come with us?"

Chris looks to the backseat.
"Well..Angela, Caroline, Stacey, Honjak..........should we do it? I'd say we can trust him. General Hammond's a good guy."

BUMP

"Sounds like a good guy to me. Let's go help him out." Stacy says, getting out of the car.

Caroline gets out.

"Of course, I have done business with General Hammond before. Remember, I'm part of the Omzian military."

As the car pulls to a halt outside of the General's mansion, Chris steps out to greet him.
"Good evening General. Nice to see you."
"Thank you Major. Come in right away."

Chris, Angela, and the rest of the passengers follow Hammond into the living room in the lounge.

"Good evening Caroline. I'm going to need all copies of the disk before the Roanians will release your family. Will you give it to me?"

Stacy followed the group, and regarded the General's first words to Caroline with a healthy dose of suspicion. She stood silently listening, fingering the copy of the list she had kept for herself inside her pocket, unbeknownst to all the others.

Chris handed the disks he was holding to Hammond.
"Well, we made 15 copies, here are me and Angela's six copies."

Stacy handed Hammond the copy Chris had given her wordlessly.

((Just so you won't get confused, Stacy has one copy from Chris, and one she made for herself, that no one else knows of.))

What is General Hammond really up to?

After all, the Council is offering covert, and after he gains a portion of the country, overt support.

OOC: After pushing the country to war with Al-Anbar by 'sexing up' the dossier, he uses his position as CEO of ESAA to form an oil company and take all the cheap oil from Al-Anbar. Then a series of "terrorist" attacks destroy major Ellan facilities, leaving the ESAA oil as the only source of oil for Ell. And then he launches a coup. Or that's what I'm planning. Gradenk might be launching an investiagtion into his activities.
