Info on CC LiquidMetal^2 Armor [reference]

23-09-2003, 23:58
This is the armor used on all the Capsule Corporation Capital ships, and a close similarity of the armor on the Mecha and starfighters.

http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/ccarmor.gif

LiquidMetal^2 is an advancment of the 20th Century's "LiquidMetal," made the same way, but with stronger, Triton-mined alloys.

Usually, the armor is pretty much as diagramed in the picture above, using the outer hull to take light projectile fire, with the elasticity and strength of the LiquidMetal^2 able to bounce small arms and bullets etc. off the hull. To absorb high-velocity/high-mass projectiles, the LiquidMetal^2 can give way into the steel supports below it, into the next layer of armor, absorbinbg a good deal of the shock before it can hit the main titanium hull.

It's a simple design, but we find it to be effective.

OOC: I just wanted to post this in case anyone was curious.

Interesting, but it appears you place your systems very close to the hull. Is this true?

Interesting, but it appears you place your systems very close to the hull. Is this true? No, the part I labelled "systems" is anything and everything under the hull, including the piping, conduits, deflector array systems, structural integrity systems, and other stuff before you reach the first wall.

This was merely meant to be a diagram of the armor itself

I see. Is the LiquidMetal for sale? Perhaps now that you have the 2nd version, we could buy the first off of you?

((oh...well, better get on researching that.))

Found a link to this, and I was wondering if there was an appropriate thread to buy this technology from you. Is there?

Technology is best traded in exchange for another technology, do you have anything to offer us?

I have suspended animation technology. Would that work?

I have suspended animation technology. Would that work? What does it do? Is it Chryogenic, Electro-stasis, or chemical (or god-forbid, magical :P)

Cryogenic.

Tell me more...as far as I know, Cryogenics are nothing special. What is the reliability and thawing time etc?

Our entire population has been frozen sucessfully twice. Approximately 300 people were lost the first time. 100 were lost the second. Minimum safe thaw time is 120 minutes. Recommended is 240 minutes.

...as i thought... this is nothing special, I'm sorry, but the Armor Technologies are worthy of something a little more.. umm... advanced than this. Do you have any cloaking technology or anything?

No cloaking. Um . . . Do you need anything from here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=75497&start=0)?

I have cloaking technology on my King JWolf class Battleship. (http://www.freewebs.com/wolf_kingdom/KingJWolfBattleships.JPG) I will trade in for the Farad Technology.
Info on the cloaking device is a 12' x 12' x 12' box. It cloaks the ship for about 2 hours. But you can't fire guns in cloak mode.

OCC: Do you have any info on it ie. links etc.?

OOC: Look up LiquidMetal (one word) on Google, should work.

WK: Umm, I don't know... tell me more about this cloak... what kind of cloak is it? phase cl;oak? Optical cloak? Energy-Bending cloak?

Phase cloak. Like the ones they use on a Bird of Prey.

Actually... phase cloak is what they used on the USS Pegasus...the one that got stuck in that asteroid. Phase cloak is a very valuable technology... if you have it (and possibly proof, like say a research thread or something) we woulod be glad to trade the farad technology.

It is on my Wolf Kingdom Space Fleet (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=62047&highlight=) second page. I just edited because I spell cloaking not right. I post the date when they would finish.

I put it on my battleships and I will put it on my gliders later.

Umm... WK... There's no info on a cloaking device on that page... at least not on the first page... I'm not gonna go looking around for it. can you post the description or research stuff here?

The reseach is on page 2. The battleships info at the top of page 1.

You call that a research post? Most people wouldn't recognize something that simple... besides, aren't you modern tech now or something??

That was when I first start roleplaying. I'm post modern. Post Modern is about 30 to 40 year from 2003.

sorry to ream on you, I just want to make sure all the tech I have is legit.

if you can write me maybe... 1 paragraph about it or something, Maybe we can have something then... but anything 2030-2040 tech is waaay too ancient for me.
