OOC: More on Humanoid Geckos in our Maniacan Native Wildlife Fact File (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41707&highlight=)
IC: A Humanoid Gecko spokesman arrived at the Imperial Palace in Poppernickle, Maniaca late last night, to deliver a memo to the Emperor and his sidekick(if you will). The memo is as follows:
"In the past few weeks, the Humanoid Gecko civilization in the Central Oculare forest has begun to establish a military. We have made this decision because of close observation of the Armored Velociraptor conflict, and we would not like to be defenseless should we fall under attack from foreign Gecko tribes or another species. We have two branches of military: Landbound and Treebound. The Landbound infantry, of course, travel on land. The current weapon of choice for the Landbound infantry are crude maces: well-sized stones tethered to a strong, straight, branch. We have tested the maces on hunting trips, and are rather effective. When the maces are not in use, they will be rested in a slot in a belt tied around the soldiers waist. Also, all landbound infantry will carry a long fighting spear, if it becomes necessary to repel the enemy and regroup, or if the soldier loses his mace.
The Treebound infantry will travel by treetop or treebottom, depending on the situation. The main weapon for most treebounders are throwing spears. Most throwing spears are shorter than fighting spears, to allow more accuracy. The spearthrowing treebound infantry carry quivers capable of holding about 50 throwing spears, made of wapshaker tree bark and gardrium leaves. The quiver is strapped to the soldiers back. Some Treebound infantry however, prefer to throw stones. They will wear a sack on their back filled with the heaviest throwable and carryable stones available.
All infantry will carry a dagger, just in case.
Besides this information, we, the humanoid geckos, would like to make a proposal. We propose a three-way alliance between us, the armored velociraptors, and the humans of Maniaca. This alliance will be mutually beneficial. With the humans' technoligical skill, the armored velociraptors' natural cunning and ferocity, and the humanoid geckos' knowledge of terrain and espionage, an alliance of this nature has potential to be unstoppable. Please consider our offer."
