This morning the Californian Coast Guard in Nassau, Bahamas received a distress call coming from a ship, the Coast Guard expected the call to be coming from a tanker, refugees escaping Cuba, or a fishing trawler... but when the Coast Guard picked up they realized the distress call was coming from the BBX-4 Kodiak battleship.

the CSS Kodiak's captain Dean J. MacClaine called in that the ship was being battered by hurricane force winds and fifty foot swells off the coast of Florida, the Coast Guard asked him to relay his bearings and position after the captain relayed the information the line went was dead.

When the Californian Coast Guard tried to reach the ship the ship-to-shore operator said that the number being called was unavailable. The Californian Department of Defense believes the ship sits between the Bahamas and Florida, and will be sending a salvaging crew to get to the ship and retrieve the guidance system and the 'black box'.

Last night a Kodiak class battleship, the SCS Kodiak was sank off the coast of Menelmacari America. The ship sank in 174 mile an hour winds and fifty foot swells off the coast of Florida, it is widely assumed that the ship was at least thirty miles from the eye of hurricane Ganymede when it sank.

The hurricane itself may have moved the ship when and if the eye passed over its location, however the entire crew of the ship managed to evacuate the ship prior to it sinking. The crew of the Kodiak say the ship went down bow first which was one of the reasons they were allowed to escape the ship, all crew members have been rescued by a Coast Guard cutter about six and a half miles south-west of the Bahamas island group and have been taken care of accordingly.

The last known location of the ship was 23.16°N 79.48°W

The People's Republic of Perfect China mourns this loss of life and hopes that California will learn what happened. Also, is there a Communist Party in your nation?

The Dominion of Talkos asks if the ship sank in international waters, or still in territorial seas. If so, there still exists a hope for salvage.

Yes, I believe it sank in international watersthat definately not good.

On the contrary....well, as long as you're quick. If you can get a retrieval team on site before anyone else you stand a good chance, but if someone else gets there first ya can't do much about it...

The 2nd Atlantic Patrol Fleet, which is located at 24.2*N, 79.4*W, will be sailing at 25 knots to get to the area as soon as possible. After several months of training and war games with California and Alaskan Navy in the Bahamas, they were conveniently located nearby the wreck. It is estimated that the fleet will arive sometime in the next eight hours. Hopefully, we will have arived in time for Californian fleets to claim the wreck.

The 34 ship fleet will be traveling to 23.16*N 79.48*W.

the ship is easily recoverable, some minor structural damage from the flooding but after all of the water damage is taken care of the ship will be able to sail again.

The ship has been recovered and sent to San Mateo Military Base in San Mateo, we expect the repairs on the ship to take at least five months before the Kodiak can be sent to sea again.

A investigation team will be looking over the ship while it will be in dry dock undergoing repairs on its hull to determine the reasons for its sinking, as soon as the ships electrical systems, databanks, and other computer systems are restored the ship will be suitable for re-entry into service.
