East Islandia hosts a Counter Terror College (open to all)

East Islandia
25-08-2003, 03:36
As of three o clock today, the East Islandian Politburo announced that they would open the Islandian Urban Terrain training center on the island of Qiang Ti and the neighboring island of Niao-shun to a large counterterrorism cross-training program hosted, for the most part, by East Islandia, Agrigento, and Largeheadlandiaburg. All nations are welcome, but we ask that you please limit your students to a group of no larger than sixty, and please hurry. Room and board will be part of the tuition fee, but the most charge will be in the acquisition of Simunitions, Imitation Explosive Detonators (IEDs), and gear. Please bring your own weapons, and please notify us in advance of y0ur arrival.

As stated earlier, all are welcome. Trainers are soldiers from the East Islandian Special Response Group (SRG), Special Forces Zero Teams, and Detachment Echo-7, Islandian Navy Sea Dragons Teams, the Agrigento Gruppo Intervention Speciale (GIS) and the Carabinieri counterterror unit.
Of course, trainers from other nations are welcome, but they must past a rigorous test held by our people first. Well, we just have to determine that they're experts in their field.
Please act quickly. Opportunity is limited, and so is space.

Walmington on Sea, concerned by the attack in Agrigento -and worrying that our nation's support of Agrigento, as well as seperatist actions in nations such as Britain and Iansisle should also like to send a unit.

Twenty men drawn from various branches of service will, if allowable, be sent.

PM Mainwaring has authorised the foundation of the Special Operations Wing (ooc:ooh, it's WoS backwards! (I was going to call it the Special Operations Branch, but...)) of which this team will hopefully be a core element.

-Commondant Clive Dunn, SOW.

The Commondant markedly neglected to mention the Catholic-lead unrest and anti-monarchy movement on Newry island, which was on his mind as he applied.

"They make 'non-lethal' weaponry, L-C?" asked a befuddled P.F.C. Brian Gallagher.

"Of course, fool," scoffed Lance Corporal Peter J. Latchford. "Nightsticks, the butt of an M74B, the flat side of a saber...there's loads of 'em. Now hush up and listen to the lecture, lancer!"

Colonel Tang shook his head. He disproved of notes unless writing lengthy essays, and there were going to be few compositions in this class, much less long ones. Still, he approved of the dedication of the Marimaians, and decided it was time to test the students. He grinned ferally, and tapped the lecturer, a CT operator from Largeheadlandiaburg who was lecturing on shooting angles, and asked him for permission to test the students, which he graciously gave, despite the short accustomization period.
Colonel Tang stepped into the front of the room and surveyed the delegations, from the Marimaians to the strange looking men in the back, to the giggling Iansisleans. He pondered his options for a moment before stepping to the desk and opening up an easel.

"Good morning students. I am Colonel Tang, one of your applications instructors, and i will present to you this scenario," Tang announced,
"This is the country of South Kimchi. As of fifty years ago, they have been fighting this nation, North Kimchi."
Snickers reverberated through the room. Tang was not the most creative of thinkers when it came to background, but he would undoubtedly make his students hate him.
"Terrorists, ostensibly sponsored by North Kimchi, have seized this plane and loaded it with explosives. First, command wants you to neutralize the terrorists using ANY MEANS necessary, disable the explosives, and rescue the hostages. Next, you wil carry then report back here for planning-as a group, measures to hunt down the remaining terrorists. You will be given a total of two practices on a 747 airliner, but you will not be able to choose your teams. In fact, i have done that for u, after reading your service records and bios."
As Tang called out the names of the groups, he noted much shuffling and discontent; undoubtedly, the students didnt like their groups; but they didnt have to, just clear out the "hijackers" from the plane.
At the back of the room, Lieutenant Tien sighed. Colonel Tang had given his unit less than an hour's advance warning of the exercise he had juss mentioned, and his men were slated to play the terrorists, who would be holding out aboard a hijacked plane parked about twelve km from here. ANother 747 would be used for practicing their assaults, but each group only had so much time.
As per Colonel Tang's instructions, Tien had hidden an indeterminate amount of men, and a large number of hijackers, both seated and standing, as well as some inside and outside the plane. there were also a large number of nasty surprises, just as Tang had taught them. Doubtless the three Zero Teams playing the hijackers would have more than one boom for the student teams.

Tang finished explaining the routine and turned to Tien. "Lieutenant Tien is our resident spook, and wil announce the intelligence on teh situation."
Tien almost laughed. He was the farthest thing from a spook, and despite marrying one, he distrusted their intelligence out of habitude, as did most officers and men in the East Islandian forces.
He shifted his gray beret and began to speak.

"There are fifteen hijackers," Tian announced. "their positions are as yet unknown, but we believe that there are four in this cabin, five here, and six here-" he pointed to the pilot's cabin, the galley, and the seating aisles. "These terrorists are flight trained, so they may or may not fly the plane. At any sign of intrusion, they will execute the hostages, and set off the explosives. But that is a might, and we are not sure what they will do."
SOmeone in the front row muttered about the nature of uncertainties that was plaguing intelligence.
"Shut up soldier," Tang said simply. "Nothing is a constant, so do what you will. Remember, if you fail, its not because ur not good enough-" he paused and grinned savagely-" its because you're not weird enough. Dismissed. You have twenty minutes to get changed, and meet outside, in your teams, to be driven to the practice area."

The men filed out to the armory, just next door.

"There you have it, lancers," said Latchford, standing up. "Get ready to move out." Grumbling, the other four men of his squad stood.

"We ought to just plug the whole flyer with a V-3," muttered one.

'Quiet, lancer," admonished Latchford in a great voice. "Listen to these Islandians - they know what they're doing, unlike you."

Major Vanzano looked on. He knew this would be the students first test, and they would probably fail. His job, was to see how they could improve. There were camera's hidden throughout the plane giving the instructers views of the entire proceedings.

Colonel Tang looked on impassively as the first student team, Alpha-1, composed of a man from Iansisle, two from Walmington on Sea, and two from Marimaia, and one from Omz222 entered the plane, rehearsing. Their attack was well planned, as within several minutes, they had set up at three points, and infiltrated inwards, shooting at the cardboard targets inside with Simunitions and doing relatively well until one guy from WoS ran into the cockpit door, and fumbled witht he lock. Tang sighed, as it was a minute before the guy opened it and busted inside, shooting the two cardboard dummies, who turned out to be pilots.
Tang shook his head as an Agrigentian officer began to speak to Alpha-1 about what went wrong. If they truly went like this on an op, hope was lost, but luckily, some idiot in the government thought of this college. Now, it was up to him.

Alpha team had another go, and this time they went faster, although they missed twice, and nearly hit a hostage. once again, a man from WoS nearly tripped an IED, and another man hit his head while entering. Tang shook his head. WHile things were inevitable, good soldiers always bounced back; Alpha team was good, but it would take some work. He called them over and announced to them that they would be assaulting the airliner first, and told them to outline their assault plan.

He listened carefully, and for beginners, they had it down quite well. Still, they had left out three spots, three dangerous variables. He pointed them out and asked them what they planned to do; they came up wit a bakup plan quikly, impressing Tang somewhat, but he was still concerned. But with the "deadline" drawing near, he ordered them to assault the plane. He and Tien sat back and watched, with an Agrigentian officer viewing them through cameras and a Largeheadlandiaburg CT officer sipping at his iced tea and watching the screens carefully.

Within minutes, the two terrorists outside the plane had hit both Counterterrorists, one from Marimaia, one from Iansisle, with Simunition rounds. The pair were tasked to assault the cockpit, but they hadnt noticed the shapes in the grass which had proved to be hostile snipers.
Still, the other men were resilient, and they quickly put down the two hostiles to the right of the plane. But it was too late. THe entire assault turned into a firefight, and despite the fact that half of the thirty hijackers were taken out, the other half managed to flash the IEDs, signaling the explosion and proving the assault a failure.

tang patted them on the back and offered them all glasses of iced tea and bowls of paper thin noodles as they walked back. He talked to them about what happened, and determined that they had been caught off guard by the extra variables. the snipers in the grass. he asked them to plan the exercise again, and what they would have done differently.

It was time for the next team, consisting of two operators from Iansisle, then two from Marimaia, and two from WoS.

Lieutenant Ikegami stared through the binoculars. He could have sworn that he saw another team approaching-or was that just a trick of the light? Still, he was too savvy to be caught off his guard, and he signaled to his men to be ready.
A Lieutenant in the National Police's Special Response Group, he was a leader of a twenty four man platoon, divided into two teams, then four sections. Ikegami had posted the two terrorists outside, and waited. They fell into his trap, but he wasnt sure if the next team would do the same.
Sure enough, they didnt. Two simunition rounds hit where Ikegami's head would have been, in the window, even as he tried to duck. Another round hit the windshield where his cohort, Sergeant Qiang of Zero-14 stood. He smiled and applauded silently as the teams entered, and flashed them a thumbs up sign as they went on.

Meanwhile, Major Vanzano nodded in admiration. "They are quite good. But they have lost the man here-" he pointed to a heavyset man who was seated, "and this one-" he pointed to a woman who was seated near the aisle. Sure enough, they pulled out guns and finished off the last two assaulters. The man triggered the "explosives," and another team failed.

Tang gave them some food, and asked them to write a report on their actions. Time for the next team, a group of all Marimaians. Perhaps they did better within their own delegations. He was about to find out.

"Alright, we're up next. We may not have much experience in this field, but we'll show them what Marimaians can do. Please note that I don't mean 'humiliate ourselves'. Understood?"

The assembled men and women saluted Major Zhongji, the most senior Marimaian officer on the program. As they filed out, Zhongji hoped they wouldn't let Marimaia down...as Security Minister Mirou would place responsibility for their performance squarely on his shoulders. He grabbed his cap and followed them towards the training area.
East Islandia
28-08-2003, 18:14
Colonel Tang watched as Major Zhongji and his team suited up, with the help of two instructors from the SRG who briefed them on the layout of the plane and on using their gear. One of them gave the Major a rope, rappel gear, and showed him how to use the indigenously made equipment, which was a bit different than standard issue rappeling devices used by British and American special operations forces.
one of the Agrigentian instructors noticed that the trainees were tense, and so he took them aside for a quick pep talk. Lieutenant Tien joined them, and he reminded everyone that failures were fine, as long as they failed in a training scenario and had time to rectify the wrongs before real life kicked in. The men nodded, but still seemed tense, and Tang concluded that they were probably going to be held accountable by their government.
He beckoned for them to assault the plane, and they quickly slipped through the tall grass, scything their way to the undercarriage and inserting through several key points, namely the cockpit, the cargo bay, and the food service area. BEfore, one of the Marimaians had suggested that they put chemical inhibitors in the food begin shipped to the "terrorists," and Tang followed through on their suggestion. He wondered if Ikegami and his men were asleep by now, and he laughed at the thought.
He turned to Major Vanzano, who was watching their progress.
"Come to think about it, if anyone passes this test with flying honors now, they shouldnt really be at the CTC," Tien remarked.
Tang nodded. "That's the point of the exercise, Lieutenant."

By now, the Marimaians were still undetected. Perhaps it was due to laxness on the part of the "hijackers," and Tang made a mental note to replace Ikegami and his team with the trainers from Zero-X1, another Zero team standing by for the exercise.

In the end, the results were as determined. For one, most of the students here were relatively straight shooters, quick, but did not anticipate variables. The Marimaian team, Cosmic-3, had done well, but failed in the fact that five hostages were "injured" by Simunitions, as well as two of their own. They also missed a hijacker, sitting in plain clothes, but he was quickly put to bear with a resounding knock on the head.
Vanzano chuckled and hoped the man wouldnt take it too personally.

The exercise was done well, but in general, the grades were unsatisfactory. Still, that was the reason that the CTC was founded, so Tang put his students to work, and Lieutenants Tien and Ikegami to roleplaying another scenario, which they would test in another few days. This would be similar, only in a smaller airliner, which Islandia Aircraft had given to the CTC generously, and with a barrage of obstacles, donated from another CT course in Agrigento.
This time, after reviewing what went wrong and revising their plans, they would be told to assault the airliner again. The purpose was to see how many of them truly thought that they would be given the SAME scenario, and how fast they could bounce back, a very crucial trait to ALL soldiers, not simply CT operators.
But they still had another few days, which would be spent on firing ranges, shooting houses, mockups, and silent insertion zones, put in place to the north of Wakano.

Tang sighed and noted it was time for dinner. He told Lieutenant Tien to get those paper thin noodles his wife made, and prepare enough of them for the whole class. Tien groaned and sauntered off, but within twenty minutes, there were noodles enough for all, several times over.

The East Islandian Training Command would like to announce the beginning of the pilot training curriculum for special operations flights, as it is used heavily in CT scenarios. We invite the pilots of all countries already involved, as well as those who are not, to join. the 4-32nd Training Group and the 2nd Special Operations Flight Division have been sent to an island further south of QIang Ti to prepare the training; classes will start in two days. Several units from Agrigento and Largeheadlandiaburg may also join in, and we hope that we will allmake the best of this enrichment.

Also, Agrigento may or may not begin a more extensive hostage negotiation and speaking program.

Fees have yet to be determined, but they will not exceed sixty thousand, save for aviation fuel and possibly supplies, such as laser tags and Night guidance equipment.

Major Zhongji shifted uncomfortably as Sakura Mirou's features flashed up on his laptop; the video conference was to discuss the performance of the Marimaians so far.

"Major, I have reached a decision. The Premier instructed me to relax a little regarding any performance you show at the college. He feels that expecting perfection from your first attempts is too much, and he wishes you to know that failure is all part of the learning process; after all, the Party did not achieve revolution in its first attempt, it took several attempts to achieve success. He has decreed that all Marimaian trainees will take part in as many courses as possible, to learn as much as possible. We shall send the appropriate fees to your instructors. Good luck."

Major Zhongji sighed with relief as the conference ended, and flopped down onto his bed. Soon some of the Marimaians would be taking part in the pilot training program, and he would be leading by example...

The three modified V-4 Special Operations Helicopters flitted over the gleaming tropical waters, roaring down the strait and landing quickly. The crewmen inside dragged out the equipment, and began to set up a landing area, marking down landing beacons and stringing camoflage tarpaulins over their craft. Offshore, a pair of Xishan class medium cruisers guarded the crystal waters, as a pair of Kilo class submarines prowled the deeper waters to the North. To the south, a medium sized island held docking berths, home to two more Xishan cruisers, and two Type 52C destroyers, as well as a Naval aviation regiment. To the West, on Than an Thoi, an airfield housing a MiG-25 interceptor regiment and two J-10 regiments, several batteries of long range SAMs, cruise missiles, and hardened bunkers guarded the approaches to the Wei-kiang Archipelago, home to the CTC.

Da Tranh Island was an uninhabited, sprawling two hundred kilometer island, with small courses built in the center for training. Heavily forrested and mountainous, the island was perfect for teaching stealth flying and manuevers.
Lieutenant Giup of the Third Infiltration Squadron frowned as he surveyed the scene. THe basic facilities had already been set up, but he noticed heavy security around the CTC, probably to discourage potential terrorists who wished to disrupt their enemies. Nonetheless, the island itself had a pair of hidden cruise missile batteries and hardened bunkers on the West end, which they would be using to conduct exercises on but could also be called on in an emergency.

First, Commander Niao had the men fly in tight formation, relying only on their senses to get them through a thick fog that had just developed. Two of the trainees, flying borrowed V-4 helos, nearly crashed, but luckily, the intervention of one of the instructors and the quick thinking of another trainee steered the formation out of trouble.
Already, Zero Team S41 had arrived in order to practice inserting through the jungle and gauging the conditions for the ground trainees, who would be setting up on the island for the next few weeks, as soon as their next test had finished.
Next, Niao had his veterans orient the student pilots on the night equipment and gear, and he made sure that they were certain about contingencies. He ordered two of his lieutenants to get the Third Rescue Detachment and order them on alert just in case anything went wrong.
Then he held his breath and watched as the students lifted off into the sky.

If there was such thing as hell, Tang thought, we just might come close.
For two weeks now, he had drilled the recruits to the point of breaking and then back again. He had given them four hours of sleep a night, before rousing them up from bed to drag boats through the surf, clamber through obstacle courses, go on midnight hikes, or kicked them awake in the middle of the night for "alerts." Often, the "terrorists" werent much better off either, only holding their own through five cups of coffee and tea in a row.
SOmetimes, he gave them drinks laced with sleep inducing pills; not that anyone needed sleeping pills to get them to fall asleep right away. That had gotten the trainees to stay away from his drinks, although the food was relatively free of anything. IN any case, Tang had trained the hell out of them, along with the CT operators from the two other nations, and for the most part, the trainees were doing remarkably well under pressure.
They were sleeping right now, being three in the morning, and they had a lecture tomorrow on psychology of terrorists. For the most part, the trainers left them alone when they had a lecture the next day.
Tang wondered what the students would face back in their own countries and hoped that at least they would be alive to curse their instructors.

Major Vanzano sat there looking through his notes, he had to give a lecture tomorrow. A lecture on Pyschology. One of the things he loved about being in the Agrigentian Marine Corp was the fact they that allowed him to take 2 courses a year at the esteemed Naval Academy in Murano, with free tuition. This was his 4th year in that program and already he had two doctorates.

This lecture was going to test his skills at psychology though, and if his men did poorly on the tests he knew it was him who failed, not them. He had never really taught any "soft study" like this, but being part of a CT team was taking risks, and he volunteered right away.

"We need more tea!" Another common complaint amongst the Walmingtonians. Most of their grumbling had been with regards to the use of women as armed terrorists. "It's absurd! The world's gone quite mad!" they insist. "Are we to shoot women? Or merely bludgeon them?" asked one, raising the butt of his bolt-action rifle (which had frequently, and quite accidentally, removed the heads of several of the cardboard targets/civilians, and probably was responsible for most of the Walmingtonian casualties as they struggled to reload. The Marimaians were gathered around Major Zhongji, who activated his laptop's media player; the screen was soon filled by the scene of Premier Suun at his desk, with Tro Yao standing nearby. The movie file had been received via email.

"My dear comrades, I hope that things are going well. Those of us at home want you to know how proud we are of you, and that we wish you all the best in your training. Please continue in your efforts, and bring as much useful experience back to Marimaia as you can. Thank you."

As the message ended, it was clear that the message of support from their Premier had lightened the mood of the trainees; they felt much more comfortable as they sat down to review their performances thus far....

Tang scratched his chin thoughtfully. Maybe he should teach them the basics of MODERN warfare, being that they were in a time warp and stuck in some earlier times.
Today was the combined assault, the day where the student teams had to complete a FULL exercise, first inserting with the student flight crews. Now, as he watched the soldiers from WoS bludgeon and shoot their way thru the building with their bolt action simunition rifles, he realized just how much they needed new equipment and tactics. and needed them FAST.

Major Vanzano agreed.

As not to give them weapons that would be completely foreign to them and ones that would take a new course just to train them Major Vanzano arranged for a delivery of BM-59 automatic assualt rifles to help ease them into modern weaponry.

"By 'eck, these.." [clicking sounds as the men fiddle with their rifles]

"They're a bit short, aren't they?" mumbled one man, trying to find fault with the foreign gear. "I reckon you could take a fellow out before 'e got close enough to shoot back. If you had a proper rifle, I mean."

There was some debate over that sort of thing, but over all the men were terribly impressed. Walmington has only this year developed its first sub-machinegun (-which is essentially a knock-off of the Austen, which was an Australian knock-off of the Sten, but slightly more...sturdy), and its troops are largely furnished with bolt action rifles, revolvers, something akin to the Lewis gun, and increasingly [dramatic music] hand grenades!

I wonder if they've given these things to the Ians.

The group from the Federation of Confused States finally arrives after a weather inforced layover (storm that was too tall to fly over and too rough to through. Going around would have strained the fuel margin) After they all deplaned and collected their gear they looked around for the 'check in' center. "There it is over there" one of the group pointed to the building indicated in the briefing material. "All right, grab yer packs and lets get oet over there and get checked in so we can see how this CT college is going to work out." Everyone pick up their packs and weapon cases and heads over to the building.

Major Zhongji snorted as he escorted the trainee from the window and sat him down. "They've got something big in store for us today. I'm not completely sure, but I think it's a combined assault exercise."

"As in land AND air?"

"We'll have to wait and see. That's what we think of when someone says 'combined assault', but it could be different here."

The trainees looked at each other with nervous enthusiasm as they gathered their equipment.

Tang watched as the first student team rapelled off ropes from a helicopter and dropped to the roof, quickly entering the building through an access tunnel. He watched as another student team surrounded the building and moved in quickly. So far, so good. next to him, Vanzano and Tien watched impassively as two members of the SRG, roleplaying terrorists, were hit by simunitions and put down their weapons. Two students burst into a room, ostensibly filled wit hostages, and were immediately splattered with SImunitions.
Tien sighed. He thought that they wouldnt listen to intelligence, especially after all the misleading information they purposely gave the recruits. He looked on impassively as several students engaged in a firefight with terrorists, and shook his head again. More training was needed, and better planning.
Tang was thinking the same thing, but in the end, the first team managed to rescue thirty of the thirty five hostages.
He signaled for the seocnd team, a primarily Calarcan team, to go by sending two quick bursts of static to the pilots hovering offshore, as soon as the terrorists were switched and the building was ready again.

He signaled for the second team, a primarily Calarcan team, to go by sending two quick bursts of static to the pilots hovering offshore, as soon as the terrorists were switched and the building was ready again.

The Calarcians for this excercise had chosen a mix of 12G Kalashnikov 8 round semiauto Assault shotguns, H&K 9mm MP5's, Calico 10mm SemiAuto long pistols with the 100 round helical magazines modified for 3 round bursts, M-79 10 round 40mm grenade launchers, FN-49 sniper rifles and plenty of stun grenades.
Their operational plan involved four teams, one entering from the ground front entrance, one from the ground rear entrance, both having removed the visible guards by sniper fire, one from the roof, and the forth, having landed on the roof from the helo rappelling down the walls unseen to a balcony, and as the enemy were engaging the three other teams, this one was to take them from their, hopefully, undefended rear.

The team split into four smaller teams with a few extra snipers, each of the 4 teams was of 5 men, two were armed with Kalishnakov Assault 12G shotguns and Calico 10mms, two were armed with H&K Mp5s, and one was armed with an M-79 grenade launcher with teargas grenades and a Calico 10mm. Outside the building the helicopters that dropped the rooftop entry teams hovered with two snipers in each, shooting through the windows at any armed men not their own.Their entry method was by this point automatic, to enter a room the shotgunners blow off the hinges with their 12G and the grenade launcher kicks the door down and blasted in a teargas granade and jumped to one side away from any bullets the enemy may send out through the doorway. by this time the shotgunners had dropped the shotguns on their lanyards and grabbed their Calicos and a stun grenade apiece, throwing the stuns around the jambs they follow the MP5ers into the room, closly followed by the grenader, also having grabbed his calico.

The Calarcians have been showing the non-Calarcians they had been assigned with, how they worked and the tricks of the trade they use. Hopefully no-one will stuff up too much. Everyone was issued with special polarised goggles as part of the gas protection gear, and the masks had radio mikes inside so all in a fire team were in close communication and the team commanders could hear each other as well. The polarization was because they were all wearing special jackets with dyes which to the naked eyes appear to be a dirty brown/grey/green, but though the right polarization, seem bright red, this way they'll be hard to see though the clouds of teargas smoke the same clour as their uniforms, yet show up well to each other, avoiding friendly fire casulties.

This wasn't too dissimilliar to one of their major tasks, clearing baddies out of bunkers and command installations.

"FASTER!!!" Tang yelled at them over the intercom. "Tangos are taking out the hostages!!"
The Calarcans moved as one, speeding up, and although what Tang had said wasnt really true, they quickly blazed through the building, and they quickly encountered more "terrorists," much more than the twenty that "intelligence" (Lieutenant Tien) had said there were. Tang heard cursing, and he shook his head.

As the Calarcans sat in the briefing room, Tang stood before them, Tien at his side, and a tall figure sat in the back, who, unbeknownst to all except Tang and Tien, was General Tai Chien, creator of the CTC.
The Calarcans seemed angry and frustrated, and worst, seemed not to direct their anger at the faulty intelligence given to them. But then again, was one of the major points in the course; learning from the experiences of Americans in Somalia, East Islandian, Agrigentian, and Largeheadlandiaburg forces in West Islandia, Tang had deliberately misled the students on nearly EVERY mission. While he knew many of the Calarcans had cursed him behind his back, he shrugged it off, reminding himself that if they could overcome intelligence flaws adn learn to trust their own instincts, then they could become resilient.

"So what went wrong?" Tang asked. "What would you do differently?"

Their curriculum now consisted mostly of putting what they had learned in the classroom to good use. Wakano, before a deserted city, had been repopulated, only this time with instructors and trainers from the First Special Training Group, the Eighth Special tactics Group, and the several Zero Teams, as well as the instructors from Largeheadlandiaburg and Agrigento. indeed, the Politburo had put such a high priority on the CTC that it had sent nearly ten billion more dollars and hundreds more soldiers to participate and help run the show. Still, that meant that Tang and Tien had been replaced by several other instructors, and although they were still monitoring everyone, they had less chances to meticulously poke and rummage through all the mistakes and scenarios. That was up to other people, but Tang was still confident; he had known and trained most of them, and now, they were passing on the tradition of going all out on everything.

Tang watched a group of Marimaians and a group of Calarcans perform surveillance on the man, who was actually Major Zhu from Zero Team X5, and two others, who were riding in trucks. Major Zhu seemed to notice that something was wrong, and within minutes, he and his cohorts had spotted a telltale glint of a submachine gun laying on the lap of one of the students. They quickly opened fire with Simunitions, and within moments, both teams were caught in a "firefight," although, to their credit, they moved quickly and put down the "hostiles" before any "civilians" were hurt. Also, they managed to burst into the room where the terrorists were holding a meeting and neutralized them without any significant losses, save perhaps a Simunition round in Glover's shoulder and a splatter of paint on Major Zhongji's behind. Everyone laughed, but Tang quickly silenced them and made them act out a scenario where they would be evacuating themselves and the Major, who would be injured, to a waiting helo while gunmen fired at them from many angles. They managed to tackle that one, and for the second time that day, Tang was impressed.

HE took a sip of iced tea on the flight back to the briefing compound. He'd have to hurry up. Vanzano was putting up another class on hostage negotiation for several more student teams soon, and he'd have to clear the area of people and shuttle in some food for the students, as they were hungry after a nearly three hour surveillance exercise.

Everyone filed into the mess and began chowing down on some food, which included steaks, rice, fries, eggs, pork, beans, vegetables, poultry, casseroles, stir-fries, iced tea, and began to relax, some heading for the sauna, and others for the pool or gym.

Tang sighed and wished he didnt have their laxity, pausing for a moment before he ran to find Major Zhu and several other instructors to supervise a class of delegates from Confused States, WoS, Iansisle, Rennia, and Dyelli Byebi on infiltration.

Niao scratched his chin. He hadnt really done too much flying in Blackhawks, but that was beside the point. Still, he did see where Cirello was coming from and he nodded. He swallowed the rest of his food and walked outside, stretching and walking off his meal before he began the mission.

Twenty minutes later, the helicopters, twelve of them, were airborne over Qiang Ti, mostly consisting of V series Helos flown by the Marimaians and Islandians, several Blackhawks, and two Pave Lows operated by Agrigento. Aboard all were several student teams, waiting to insert into a rugged valley abounding with "terrorists."
05-09-2003, 06:23
"Now this is more like it." Commented Lance Corporal Harper, "finally somewhere I can get down and work. "

The lance corporal was one of the Calarcian teams snipers, his assigned job in this mission was to act as spotter and sniper, sitting still and camoflauged where he could not be seen, but could see well. And he was good at this, he wasn't so sure about the rest of the non-calarcians making up the team, but at least they were all proffessionals and had their encypted radios. As the only Calarcian on this team Harper thought it was up to him to carry the flag for Calarcian proffesionalism.

OOC: Calarcian battlefield doctine is to snipe from long range as cover activity while the infantry move up and assault, so Calarca has a far larger Sniper section than is usual in an army. and snipers are well trained in hiding.

"Another exercise, another challenge." Major Zhongji grinned at the rest of his team. "Ready?"

"Oh, we're always ready." replied one of the other trainees. "Just try not to get shot in the backside again, sir."

Zhongji smirked despite the flippant remark; the rest of the trainees had a good chuckle, which would relieve some of the tension in the air as they started to land...

07-09-2003, 20:46
As the helo began to land, explosions rang all around the trainees. Some seemed confused; others did not. As one of them stared at the sight, transfixed by the spectacle, Tang's voice came in over the intercom.
"Oh, and i forgot to tell all of you. We're practicing with live artillery, so try to stay away from those blasts. Why else do u think we had all of you suit up in armor and full protective gear?"

Tien's voice came over the intercom. "Dont worry. Our gunners are very accurate, and no one will be hurt. Besides, we're only detonating mines around the perimeter, so if you stay out of that area, no one will get hurt. Also, we loaded up a few canisters of simunitions; if you run into those, you're 'dead,' meaning out of the exercise."

"Good luck soldiers," Tang said. "Try not to get blown up."

The trainees rolled their eyes and didnt trust Tien, as usual. Either the man was a horrible intelligence officer or the instructors dreamt up these scenarios to keep them occupied. Probably t he second possibility.

In any case, the soldiers ran to the ground as the earth shook all around them. They advanced towards the tree line- and were hit by Simunitions. it was a literal shitstorm, and the cadets ducked, feeling the rounds whiz above their heads like real bullets. A few were hit, but for the most part, they kept going, and jumped into the trees.

As usual intelligence was wrong about the location of the caves. This time, though, they were accurate about the disposition and size of the enemy.
Still, it was going to be a long day, and would only get longer.

OOC: yea. All nations have had their students split up into different teams to see how they work together and under immense pressure, with people they dont kno. The Calarcans sidled around the structure, moving like ghosts in the night as two of their Iansislean comrades watched the roof for activity. Within minutes, the men were inside, and the Iansisleans followed, dispersing into the building rapidly and quickly clearing the rooms.

SImultaneously, four other student teams entered two caves, both extensive and filled with "weapons" (simunitions, paintball guns, simunition grenades, night vision goggles) and crates. Behind every crate was a potential enemy, but the teams found that their intelligence was, for once, accurate, so they began to get complacent and trust the maps and the figures.

Big mistake. Within minutes, more "tangos" had arrived outside and began moving in. several of the trainees outside had tried to radio their comrades, but to no avail, as the radios wouldnt work in the caves. they retreated inside and bunkered down. Before tehy did, however, one of them had the sense to call for "reinforcements."

By the way, we will soon be introducing a course to disaster relief in one of our larger islands south of wakano, Dai Nai Dao. We have recently expanded a disaster relief course already present to accommodate more trainees. If you wish, send your emergency personnel there for specialized training against highly lethal terrorist attacks.

The staff and administration of the CTC would like to further announce the initiation of an Explosive Ordnance Disarmament course (EODC) and the Advanced EODC. Courses will start in about two weeks (in game) and will run for about two months each. In that time, trainees will be required to keep their sanity, their cool, and their reserve while disarming some of the world's most complex and known explosives.

Also, we will be offering a course for administrators from various governments, should they decide to take it. THis course deals with handling terrorism, coordination amongst entities, integrating counterterror duties into everyday budget and dealings, negotiation, preparedness, and most of all, reactions, since most of the time, reactions are the most important part. This course deals with officials from city level to province/state level. If showings are good, it will be expanded to national/regional level. This course runs for about a week, and features administrators from East Islandia, Agrigento, and possibly some other nations, all of whom have dealt extensively with terror.

Also, riot control will now be integrated into the curriculum with a two month long course.

Zhongji signalled to the Marimaian 'reinforcements' as they drew nearer to the caves. They all dropped to their stomachs and began to crawl towards the caves, several of them rolling onto their backs every so often to keep an eye out for enemies on higher ground. They halted about sixty feet from the cave entrance, and took up positions.

"Why don't we go charging in sir?"

Zhongji snorted at the one who suggested this. "That would be stupid beyond belief. If we go charging in there, we could get shot by accident. We'll hold position for now, and see where the 'terrorists' are."

Zhongji grabbed his radio. "Bravo Charlie, this is Delta Bravo. Sounds like you need help in there. We're on our way."

Zhongji began gesturing to the other Marimaians, who moved to secure the cave entrance. As they went to enter the cave, shots rang out and one trainee was hit in the chest. Zhongji barked orders, and the Marimaians began trading fire with the terrorists who had set up positions inside the cave...

Lieutenant Ikegami led his men over the rocks, dodging stray rounds of the special wax based simunitions that the snipers used, which simulated the flight pattern, if not velocity, of real bullets. to his right, one of Ikegami's men went down, smacked in the face by one, blood gushing out his nose.
He waved for them to keep going, and clamped his fingers over his nose.
Ikegami cursed. He wished that his sniper support would just show up when they were needed instead of just hanging around. Little did he know that his snipers, two marksmen from the SRG little experienced in the rocky areas of the training ground, had already been "taken out" by several of the Calarcans, who were better at this than their trainers.

Ikegami made a beeline for the caves, spreading out his men into a skirmish line. They fired and kept advancing, even tossing Simunition grenades that the trainees were also equipped with.

to the west, a group of instructors from Echo Detachment and the GIS dropped out of several V4 helos controlled by the "terrorists." they advanced towards the trainees positions, Tang and Vanzano amongst them as they advanced towards the caves.

meanwhile, Tang watched, interested. The trainees were diggin in for a siege, but perhaps they had tricks up their sleeves.

OOC the caves are large, extensive, and long, reaching nearly four hundred thousand kilometers. While only a fifth of the caves are used, there are supplies, more simunitions, even heavy weapons, and of course, more terrorists in there.

The Marimaians weren't progressing as far as they thought they would, so it was time for a different approach. Two grenades flew into the cave and detonated, releasing 'tear gas' which incapacitated the few terrorists they were fighting. After moving in and finishing off the terrorists, Zhongji looked around. He pointed in the direction of gunfire noise.

"That way! Get in formation!"

The Marimaians got organised again, and began to penetrate deeper into the caves....

Rei Anoro ducked down further behind the rock as more Calarcan rounds whizzed past his head. He cursed. Those snipers were good, but then again, there were so many of them in the Calarcan army, so they probably had an edge over them; besides, East Islandians were not really as good at taking cover at rocky ground, as most of their wars were fought in either urban conditions, jungles, or tall grass. Most of the time, there was at least foliage covering the mountain, but these rocks were almost as bad as the terrain in Afghanistan, where Rei had once visited as an advisor to the mujahadeen against their common enemy, the Soviet Union.
Beside him, Sergeant Trung tried to get a bead on the snipers plaguing them. A young woman of thirty, she was a sniper in an all female Marine Guards unit, the elite Forty Second Assault Brigade. Still, she was more accustomed to beaches, and having a hard time at this. She popped off a few shots, and she swore she could have seen a Calarcan go down, but she wasnt exactly sure. More wax rounds pinged off the rocks near her, and she ducked back under cover.
A sniper to her right was hit square in the face by a wax round, which stung like hell. Trung pitied him, as that would leave a red mark for weeks. At least she was thinking that before a round hit her in the shoulder and again in the backside as she scrambled for cover.
"damn," she said, frustrated. Rei shook his head and pointed the other way with his thumb, signaling for her to leave, as she was "incapacitated."

"yeah, i know," she said as she made her way off the pile of rocks. Two more rounds pinged around her, and made her run faster towards the command tent.

"Our turn," tang said, raising his rifle and firing on the trainees. Wax rounds pinged off all around them, and they turned to face him, firing back. Soon, the air was full of whizzing wax bullets, and when it hit someone, it stung like hell. Two trainees and another three "terrorists" were hit.

Tang nodded. That was good, but not good enough, he thought, at least until he sprang up and before he got off two shots, found two red splotches in his chest. He put down his weapon and looked around, seeign the remainder of his team with grumpy looks and annoyed, Simunition splattered faces.

He smiled and shrugged at the trainees before giving them each high fives. He and his team headed out, leaving their weapons and gear in the caves and emerging into the dim early morning sunlight.

Of course, Tang had neglected to mention that Vanzano and Lieutenant Tien were out there somewhere; they had not been with the team as it advanced into the caves, and were still outside. he heard the telltale pops of Simunitions as Vanzano and Tien fired on the trainees from their positions. The two were vastly more skilled than the others at this rocky terrain, especially since Tien was a specialist in mountain and desert warfare.

Also, Captain Rei Anoro still held his position, and began shooting at the trainees as soon as they exposed themselves. The Calarcans had a harder time finding him, as he kept relocating, and the Simunitions rounds kicked up sand and dirt all around his position.

Tien had taken the trouble to hang several simgrenades around, and he was rewarded as one of the trainees stepped on one and was covered in paint. The others picked up on it, however, and began walking more carefully.

Of course, another few "terrorists" still lurked in the caves, and they came out to make trouble for the trainees also.

Now they are in "desperate ground," Tang thought, referring to the old classification of terrain from "Art of War." Desperate ground was where one had to fight or risk losing everything, but the trainees seemed to be holding their own, although they were stuck in a crossfire. Maybe it would be up to the Calarcans to save the day. Or the guys from WoS or Iansisle, who were supposed to rendezvous with the student teams in a couple of minutes, if they were on schedule.

"Theres two main groups" shouted Staff Sargeant Schifft from behind his rock, "We've gotta clear one group out, regroups and remove the other, Bravo Snipers, go to ground, give covering fire, keep their heads down, Squads Able, Charlie and Hotel, stay in cover and keep firing at the east group, use your 203 grenades for suppression and keep them fixed. Squads, Echo, Foxtrot and Grape, follow me, we can't wait for Delta reinforcements to arrive we'll charge the northwast and clear them out, then sweep around the ridge from the north to behind the east groupa nd assault them from the rear as the three satying here make a frontal assult. Check your radios."

After the readio check came through clear the nominated assult team started sprinting from rock to rock to the northwest firing as they went.
12-09-2003, 01:49
Just a note on ID terminology, the groups are divided into squads, A, B, C, etc.. denoted by Able, Charlie etc. within these squads they are again divided by rank and positon, down to the last man, so a message over the radio IDs who sent it and who it goes to. Able is not the commader tho, just to confuse the enemy if they listen in, letter ranks are assgind differently for each mission. in the earlier post, Bravo (sniper) number 4 (Charlie), was calling for Delta (Backup) number 1 (Bravo).

as the rounds began to slam into the rocks around him, Rei realized that there were more reinforcements that Tang had let him believe. Of course, the man was a devilish superior also, contrary to what the students thought. He pushed around the trainers just as much as he did the trainees, and all of them were bone tired from five hours in the lashing cold of the mountains.

As the "terrorists," played by soldiers from the 8th Jump Brigade, kept up a steady crossfire, two of their members moved to the left, trying to flank them and trying to throw simgrenades into their midst. THey were stopped with a hail of simunitions rounds in the chest, and gave up dejectedly.

Rei picked off another trainee, but felt a Simunition round thud into his ass. He turned around quickly, but more simunitions slammed into him as the Calarcan team arrived. They kept shooting at him, and Rei twisted around, swearing eternal vengeance for them as soon as they were done.
THe Calarcans smacked him on the back heartily and moved on, leaving his humiuliated form lying on the rocks.

Oh well, he thought. It was only fair, since he and the trainers had done that to them so many times, just to rub in the defeat and make them angrier and more determined.

Rei rubbed his backside and sauntered down the hill to join his friends. Maybe Trung would be interested in massaging his thick skin, Rei mused. Now that was something he'd love; the beautiful sergeant sinking her fingers into his skin, caressing him-
Another simunition round smacked into him, this time his crotch, followe dby another two which ended up throwing him down the hill.

Sergeant Trung laughed hard and helped him up.

Having quickly overrun the "terrorists" position and slapped Rei around with simammo the assaulters, quicly scouted around for more terrorists in that area, not finding any several Calaricans were left as snipers, firing over the trainees left behind and pinning down the other team of instructors as the reaming trainees quickly sloped off down the reverse side of the ridge, keeping a good lookout for more "terrorists" which might happen to be hiding back there as re-inforcements themselves.
While on the run a wuick radio check brough back a head count, more were lost than the Staff Sgt liked, but not as many as he had feared in the assault on the "terrorist" position, shortly they would be descending on the second groups rear.

Major Vanzano was no stranger to this kind of terrain. As a member of the Agrigentian Armed Forces he was trained on Grand Island, a place with a climate not too varied from this. His home in Varisca was a hilly country as well. This was his environment, his element, and his home. Like a great predator seeking his prey he moved out both cautious and aggressive at the same time. He found a small indent in the rocks and made it his shelter from the swirling sand for a few moments. Hoping that the trainees would come to him.
12-09-2003, 03:57
The assault team of trainees under SSgt Schifft came doubling around the ridge, ducking from rock to rock and leapfrogging each other, no more than a third of the students moving at any one time, the rest squatting behind rocks and in crannies keeping a watch out for enemies.

In a short time they would be in a position to launch thier attack on the remaining "terrorists"

A couple members of the team operating along a hillside included a CS sniper team, Eagle and Raven, had paused for a bit of rest when Eagle noticed some odd movement in the grass in the valley like land below them.
"Raven, take a look at that patch of grass at 45 angle left of that dead tree, does it look to be moving unnaturaly?"
Raven adjusted her position to get a better look at where Eagle was pointing. "Hmm, that does look a bit odd, let me get a closer look at it" She gets into sitting firing position and looks through the optics of her SABR, playing with the mag settings a bit to get a closer view. "That patch appears to be moving against the wind, think I should drop a grenade on it?"
"Might not be a bad idea, might be a 'tango' down there trying to sneak up on one of the teams."
"Can't have that so I'll give it a 'paint job', you think about 50, 55 for the range?" she asks her partner while she adjusts the settings for the grenade.
"Go for the middle, 52, it's got enough burst area to cover being a bit over or under."
"All right, you strange patch of grass, incoming" she says as she sends a training grenade downrange. A few seconds later a blue cloud erupts over the target.

Zhongji threw his gun down as he realised that the Calarcan assault had moved on without waiting for Marimaian reinforcements.

"Come on, we'll get out this way. Maybe we'll catch up with them!"

After leaving the caves, the Marimaians clambered over various rocks until one spotted possible movement; one set of hand gestures later, and the Marimaians were deployed in readiness for a firefight. Zhongji flicked on the radio.

actually that was probably one of my last operatives, Lieutenant Tien. Besides, he's still somewhere out there, so might as well be there.

of course, by now the Lieutenant had moved out of the valley and into a sporadic patches of grass on the plateau above. Tien slowly rose out of the grass, training his SAR21 Assault rifle upwind. He triggered a three round burst in the direction of the sniper team.

Unfortunately, their simgrenade hit the radio that he had set up, and so ruined any chance of calling in "reinforcements" from the "terrorist" base camp a few klicks away to the east.

He cursed and kept moving, ducking behind a tree as more wax rounds splattered into the grass where he was just seconds ago. He realized he didnt have the scope magnification to get the snipers, and he knew that he would be shot multiple times as punishment (with wax rounds) if he allowed the trainees to get him, especially since he was a hardass as a trainer and a dumbass as an intelligence officer. That was probably why tang had chose him for the role of intel.

Still, as more wax rounds slammed into the grass around him, he knew that his position was discovered and sprinted out into the tall grass. He had run about twenty meters before he came upon Raven, and the two of them raised their weapons at the same time.

The Marimaians' wax rounds hit next to where Ikegami was, and he crouched down further. His team were all down, and doubtless that was proof of his bad leadership.
He snorted. Not my fault; i cant find my own ass in the mountains with both hands and a flashlight.

He spotted the silhouette of the Marimaian Major and fired a quick burst at it before ducking down. iN response, two simgrenades bounced over his cover and detonated right in front of him. The trainees bounded over the rocks, and fired at him even after the red paint from the simgrenade marked him as "dead."

Ikegami's last thought before the trainees covered his goggles with red paint and cut off his vision was that he would never live down this humiuliation. If he managed to get out of the mountains wit blacked out goggles first.

"Reading you four by four, over"

"Able Bravo, state position of hostiles, over"

"Foxtrot Charlie, Position unchanged, down in a gulley on the slope facing the cave mouth, over"

"Continue covering fire, but be prepared to charge, out,"

"Roger, out"

SSgt Schifft quickly deployed his men into an assault line over the crest from where the holding squads had identified the "terrorists" positions, holding back on the actual assault in order to combine it with the Marimians assault.

The Calarcans had provided intel about any terrorist positions they knew about, but Zhongji had a hunch that they still didn't know where all of the enemy were. Thankfully, the Marimaians had stumbled across a new toy during their time in the caves; Zhongji made a few hand gestures, and the RPG launcher was brought up. He thanked his luck for guiding the Marimaians to an unguarded weapons stockpile; they may only have been able to carry ten simunition RPGs with them, but they could prove useful in the upcoming assault....

Pilot Zhu Zhongren looked carefully over the nose of his helo. Reinforcements had been called in by Major Vanzano, who was still alive, and he and another pilot were flying two older, Soviet era Mi-7 helos. THere was a "door gunner," who had a quick firing Simunitions rifle, but other than that and the twelve "terrorists" aboard, there was no armament. The trainers forbade the mounting of any rapid fire simunitions guns used in Air Force training because those simulated the real velocity of rifles and small arms. Still, Tang and his bunch had managed to dream up RPGs which had a cardboard warhead filled with paint and a little slower than real RPG7s. He didnt think that the trainees would find any of those, since they were heavily guarded.

The two helicopters descended towards the ground, and Zhu noticed movement. His doorgunner shouted out a warning, and several of the men jumped about a meter to the ground before the entire helo was plastered in a big puddle of red paint.

Zhu sighed, flipped up the "surrender" signal, activated the windshield wipers, and started to look for a safe place to land. At least his counterpart had gotten more time to drop off a few more of his troops before he too, was plastered in a big splotch of Simunitions.

The few "terrorists" ran for the rocks, but since they were outnumbered four to one, they had little chance. Still, they were part of the elite 8th Guards Jump Brigade, and they werent about to give up.

Sgt First Class Kim Suyung dove beneath the rock as simunitions whizzed past her head. Her unit, the Forty Second Reconnaisance Platoon, had just been "wiped out," by two RPGs. DOubtless they didnt expect RPGs, but then again, they had been taught by Colonel Tang, so they should have known better.
The Forty Second Recon was an elite, all female special operations force that specialized in infiltrating enemy held areas. They were usually scouts and snipers, and they werent accustomed to being thrown into the middle of free fire zones.

STill, Sgt Kim knew that the complain rate was the highest among the East Islandian military, especially since they hated their trainers and instructors for lying to them and depriving them of even the most basic needs. THey didnt have to be able to run four miles in twenty minutes, but they had to endure freezing cold showers, get kicked up in the middle of the night, and even be awoken by instructors firing simunitions into their barracks at night. The CTC was no different, and the trainees there got a taste of what it was like to be an Islandian soldier.

Kim noticed the tags on one of the trainees who walked by her, a splotch of Simunitions on his chest. He was wearing one of the patches from the Marimaian student delegation, an elite unit of some sort in their country. She smirked. The Marimaians and the 8th Guards, particularly the 42nd Recon, had gotten into a drinking match, and they were defeated by several of Major Zhongji's group. So they had made a bet to defeat them in several of their upcoming exercises; Sgt Kim knew she could not lose. Or, if she did, she may as well bow down to Zhongji and acknowledge her disgrace.

Kim and one of her counterparts, Spec. Tanaka, belly crawled to the rocks and chucked over several simgrenades. but then, Tanaka stepped on a simgrenade rigged by a Calarcan, and was covered in red paint, sputtering in indignation as more wax rounds hit her in the face and stomach, sending her running back to the tent offlines.
Kim rounded the corner, and faced Major Zhongji as the two of them raised their weapons at the same time. She recognized the Major from his stature and composure, and was certain that she could almost sense the surprise he felt at seeing Kim, as he had doubtless thought she was a civilian instructor and not a soldier.
THe glint of attraction in his eyes threw her off for a second, but it was all Zhongji needed. She later realized that he was probably just doing that to catch her off guard; many of the Marimaians had a way with the Islandian females on the training center, as most seemed mysterious and quite..attractive to some of the other women. He probably was just exercising those Marimaian pheromones... or was he?

Time for some target practice, he thought as he crouched and adjusted the scope on his compact assault rifle. His dual optical sights were very effective at medium to long range and he squeezed off 3 rounds into his target. He knew he was making a tactical mistake here, just randomly shooting an enemy he saw, but it was his job to provide opportunities to his students in order to see how they react and if they take advantage of it.

Tien managed to jump out of the way of her vicious side kick, rolling and springing up to deliver a spinning back kick, which she managed to avoid. He lunged at her with a roundhouse, and when she blocked that too, he kneed her in the stomach.
His knee bounced off the flakvest she wore, and she pushed him back, first with her hands, then managing to cut his legs from beneath him by hooking her foot under his knee and pulling him off his feet.
Behind him, Tien felt the thud of two simunitions rounds as the other man caught up with him and shot him in the back, pitching him forward to trip over Raven's extended foot and land face down.
he stayed there for a while, not feeling the urge to get up or do anything drastic.

Tang clapped. Now just where was Vanzano, and why wasnt anyone shooting at him? he wondered.

"Thank you, Col." Raven said as she came over to where Eagle was standing with her SABR rifle "I believe this is yours?" Eagle said as she handed her teammate back her weapon.
"LT. Tien, would like a hand up or do you just feel like laying there for awhile?" Eagle asks in her quite female voice.
"Took you long enough" Raven says with a plainly fake attempt at being annoyed.
"I was just waiting to get a clear shot, he moves around as much as a hopper. Had to wait for him to hold still for more than a couple seconds."

"ehh no thanks," tien mumbled. "It's quite comfortable."
He felt them fumbling through his equipment, looking for food.
"HEY! thats MY food!" he shouted.
THe two of them pretended they didnt hear him and walked off. Tien sighed and stayed there, perfectly content to wait until Tang sent a chopper to pick him up.
Of course, that would never happen, so Tien picked himself up, took his assault rifle, and headed home, down the rocky trail.

Sgt Kim stared at Major Zhongji indignantly through her field glasses, perched atop a stack of crates. THe simunitions were hard to get off, and she still had faint red splotches on her flakvest.
She put her head down and felt her face redden, and this time, she felt certain it was not because he had defeated her.

Meanwhile, Vanzano was still out there somewhere, and the trainees, tired, were still wary and untrusting.

Also, send a note to the school asking if the college would wish any war materials, instructors, fake terrorist units, etc. Make it so."

Alrite.. so things will be restarted as they were, with no absence ( i think i'll ignore Mallberta from now on). Here, the trainees are celebrating their successful exercise (few killed) against their trainers, who should have known better than to underestimate their students.

Sergeant Kim sat sullenly at the bar, her hair a cascade of brown down her back. She was incensed that another soldier had beat her and her unit; the Eighth Guards were at the top of the game, and defeat was somewhat... alien to them.

But failure was never new to her. In the WEst Islandian wars, Kim's squad wandered into an ambush. After-action reports would show that there was prior knowledge of this, stemming from a spy in Kim's unit, but in the end, seven of them were killed in the ferocious firefight that followed. The other five retreated, and the traitor disappeared amongst the Jungles of Chimeini Atoll; they never found him again.

Kim sighed and stirred her drink idly, watching Spec. Tanaka get hitched almost immediately with an operative from Marimaia. She wished she had the same luck as her friend, and scanned the crowd slowly until she noticed Major Zhongji, at about the same time he noticed her.

She blushed, all thoughts of her disappointing performance rushing back to mind, and quickly turned away.

And this base is on a remote island in waters constantly patrolled by Islandian Naval ships. The Calarcian Delegation drifted into the bar in a good mood, having just finished an internal debrief by the ranking Calarcian SpecOp troops in the team. After having cleaned and cared for their weapons of course.

Once there, while a bunch distracted the bartenders, a few slipped into the cool store and absconded with an untapped keg and a pump, hiding it beneath a table before the bartender finished with filling there comrades orders.

Suddenly Major Vanzano enters the bar, freshly showered and dressed in casual clothes, a pair of khaki shorts and a gray t-shirt with A.M.C. emblazoned on it's front and the phrase "Il dolore รจ debolezza che lascia il corpo" on the back.

Kim looked at him sullenly. Zhongji was not the worst, just a little cocky every now and then and undoubtedly out for some ass; Kim was not the romantic, dreamy type, like Specialist Tanaka, who was more of a heartbroken dreamer than anyone else in their Division, probably even the entire EI Banner Forces.

"Tell me, Major, how do you deal with failure?" she asked, staring at her drink. Vanzano's face grew red, and it looked like he was about to charge at the men. His muscles grew tense and his eyes centered on their target. With all his weight on his back leg, ready to pounce he sprang up and........started chuckling.

"Heh, nice job improvising with that keg. Too bad you couldn't do that in the field, maybe you would have got me." he replied, smiling but in a mocking tone. He had a sense of humor, but knew that the authority he held as an instructor was being compromised. Zhongji eagerly accepted her invitation and joined her on the dance floor. She was unlike most women that he'd met; in Marimaia, a partner in the military was seen as a status symbol, which resulted in young people flocking around those in uniform.

Kim was different though. Proud and headstrong, and proving to be a bit of a challenge. i think it would be easier if you sent more than one CT operator; for the most part, our school takes large delegations (one even had about a hundred) and we will take more delegations once the next season begins.

For now, the second season is opening up. We will allow new students to come, but be warned they may face a little time off before the classes start (you will not be charged money for the interim between the arrival of your students and the beginning of lessons) but as soon as classes start, classes start.
So to tell you NI, its fine, just dont tell anyone he was a former terrorist. And you can sign up more people; it is generally recommended, especially since we all need all the help we can get and the best way is to train, train, and train.
But if he's your single student, then we accept him.

Enrollments for a new term anyone? Other countries who already have students here can sign up more students if they want.

"What do you see, Zhu?" Major Guo asked. "Any of those Calarcans?"
"Negative," Zhu replied. he lay on his stomach in the bushes, mumbling softly about his bad luck; he was overdue for some tender care wit the ladies from the Eighth Guards, but instead, he was stuck on this wet, humid forest outside the CTC wit an MSG90 configured with Simunitions.
Ikegami was inside also, but laying flat on the stage behind the podium, sleeping quietly. Of course, he had no idea what the hell was going on, but he always kept a pair of loaded guns next to him; one was Simunitions and one had live ammo. OOC: The name of my main character, Sean Miller, is the smae as the head terrorist from Patriot Games

Rei looked at the rest of the girls; they chatted amongst themselves for a minute before turning back to the Irish.
"Well, if it really is that bad, then dont tell us," Queenie said.
"Oh you're such a chicken Queenie!" Mandy said. "Out with the details! I want to see how our Irish comrades have done against their English oppressors."
"War is always three sided, Mandy," Queenie said. "WHo knows? If they want to keep it secret, then let them."
Mandy glared at Queenie before turning back to the Irish.
"It's up to you guys. Tell us, or dont," Rei said, clamping her hand in an iron grip over Mandy's big mouth. "It doesnt matter if you discuss it or not; if you dont, we'll move on, if you do, we'll listen and try not to be judgemental. We're with you either way."
By now, nearly the entire company was listening to the conversation.

Of course, Guo and Zhu were still sitting outside, getting grumpier by the second.

OOC: My men outside have already scoped out the room through the windows, I wonder why these two didn't see them.

Inside the building the Calarcian delegation sneaked along, their kevlar weave moccisons slipping quietly over the floors. As each group of 4 came to a corner the point man slipped a nickel sized camera on a fine stick around the edge, close to the ground and hard to see, watching for an ambush and searching for tripwires or triggers.

Finally they reached the corridor outside the target room and congregated again, quickly a series of frames of Det cord were glued to the walls where entry was desired. The charges were eight times as strong as what was normally used in Calarca to obtain entry due to the EI mania for bulletproofing of this school. These should be sufficient to penetrate any bulletproofing and open gaping holes in the walls.

The assault teams took their preordained places, several with 40mm semi auto rotary grenade launchers with paint grenades ready, others with MP5 submachine guns with wax simunitions, and combat shotgunners with semi auto shotguns loaded with double-ought buck sized paintballs in their shells.

The men watched their chronos, 0500 crept past, they were waiting for 0507, waiting for the instructors within to assume they weren't coming, or to have been on edge long enough to be nervy waiting.

"Well," Sean started, "Me names is Sean Miller, and I've killed 113 British soldiers, with somethign liek a gun. Me and my mates here, we have near 400 kills under our belts, and that doenst include bombings. We try to stay away from inocents, but mistakes do happen. Mostly car bombings of british troop sites."

"See them now?" Guo asked. he turned around. "Zhu? are you there? Zhu?"
Zhu was not beside him, and their RPG simunition launcher was missing.
"Uhoh."

Suddenly, there was a flasha dn a boom as the RPG splattered in the bushes, hitting several of the Calarcans. IN a few minutes, Zhu reloaded and fired again and again, this time into places where he saw return fire coming from.
"Stupid southerners," Guo mumbled, lifting the sniper rifle and peering through the sight. "There."
He began shooting, and fit a few of them, and he hoped Guo would get the rest.
******
Mandy shrugged. "It's war," she said. "Things happen."
"Still, thats an impressive kill record," Rei mused. "Not that kill records are a good thing to be.. yea.."
"We used to be guerillas too," Queenie said. "And i have nothing against you as long as you arent trying to kill me."

(OOC) Well technically 'terrorist' is an expressed view on someone. A more correct term for 'terrorist'/'freedom fighter' is 'soldier out of uniform' as that is what they actually are.

the CTC is now OPEN.

All nations may apply. If you're part of the Resistance, however, you get a discount. Fifteen percent. Refer to the front pages for the prices and dont worry; its quite cheap, the foods not bad (thats the only thing that keeps them through the rigorous program) and the accomodations are comfy, if unpredictable (our trainers are quite devilish).
