The basic idea behind the structure of our community comes from the ancient ways of the Tribes of early man on earth. Elder men were chosen by the tribe to guide them in decision making and were given respect based on their knowledge and experiance.
A similar idea holds true for us, we have a wise counsel of 9 speakers, the highest of which is known as the Headspeaker. The Headspeaker is in charge of dealing with those who are not part of the Pilon Community and all of the ministries under his direct command are involved in dealing with outsiders in some way.
The other 8 speakers are:
The Speaker of Economics
The Speaker of Environment
The Speaker of Science and Technology
The Speaker of Media
The Speaker of Law
The Speaker of Military
The Speaker of Intelligence
and The Speaker of Culture
Each of these speakers are responsible for their own particular sections of the Pilon Community and lead the ministries assigned to them in their jobs.
Decisions that affect the community are discussed by the wise counsel and after debate and fully exploring the issue a decision is made and acted upon.
The Economy of Pilon is somewhat unique as well. Industries are encouraged to work together with one another and seperate companies are not allowed to sell different products and new companies are formed whenever a new product is produces. This is because the Pilon Industries as a whole instill pride in the people and they benefit from the use of what they know to be a superior product. Though some foreign trade is allowed, the Ministry of Tariffs is well known for their steep pricing of foreign goods and often times any superior products from foreign markets are adopted by the Pilon Industries and produced at home, replacing the need for the foreign-made product. Recently the community has made the decision to enter into an economic alliance with some of its Martian Neighbors. The Speaker of Economics believes that this will be a good change and intends to study to effects of this alliance closely.
Though the primary focus of the community is in Science and Technological Innovations a secondary focus is in the maintenance of a clean and healthy environment in which to live. The strict laws set up by the ministries within the jurisdiction of the Speaker of the Environment have hurt some industrial progress but the results have been a radically advanced system of environmentally friendly facilities known as "green industry."
The entire purpose behind the nation of Pilon is to achieve a state in humanity that is so far beyond that which humanity is right now that it is no longer recognizable as humanity, a posthumanity if you will. Striving to achieve this goal, the entire community works together to advance technology and test new discoveries and theories that advance humanity.
Due to this focus the Medical, Nanotechnology, and Computer industries are particularly advanced. Cybernetics and Genetic Engineering and Enhancement are commonplace among Pilonians as are 3 dimentional communications and Life Extension techniques that have already allowed a person to live beyond 150 years still in good health. The food Pilonians eat and the enertainment they enjoy is all good for the body and designed to keep the body in its prime condition. Technological Breakthroughs are an everyday occurance.
As Technology is the focus of the community it is expected by the people that new discoveries be relayed and incorporated into society in a timely fashion. Due to this communications networks all communicate with one another and are involved at all levels in the life of a Pilonian. Holograms, Trivids, and Virtual Reality Matrixed Internet systems spread a flood of information that can barely keep up with the flow of information dumped into it. The Media is a larger part of a Pilonians life than most other peoples lives as it is the Media that will give you the latest on the newest technologies, ideas, and breakthroughs happening right now.
Probably only following Technology and the Environment is the focus on a safe society where crime is virtually unknown. The community of Pilon boasts one of the lowest crime rates in NationStates. They attribute this sucess to their advanced Rehabilitation Facilities and advanced Judicial and Police systems.

Though the idea is quite unpopular among the population a highly trained and armed Military Force is maintained, remembering things learned from previous Regime's failed experiments with Penal Colonies on Mercury and Pluto the current Military is well trained in harsh conditions where the fatalities are high. Military Soldiers are trained from Birth to fight and conditioned to be perfectly trained for their specific duties and any additional areas they may need to know as well. The Military of Pilon is rather small for a nation of its size but is bolstered by a level of technology that is on average much higher than anything seen by neighboring nations, yet their secrets are kept top secret. Pilon has learned from its past and no longer starts wars but they are prepared to defend their country from any aggresive actions taken by its enemies.

There are the ministry's that cover everything that is not part of anyother section of society and covers everything from the Highly Sophisticated Education system (within the top 5% of NS) to their art, music, and architecture. It is by far the largest section of the government and also the most diverse in membership.
