Vigilance - Modular battletank

18-03-2003, 14:13
Austrin-Ontis is proud to announce the release for public sale of the Vigilance series light tank and support vehicle. The Vigilance is a revolutionary new design, with modular components, allowing it to fulfil a number of battlefield roles as well as change role in the field. These are its statistics:

Crew: 2 (1 driver, 1 gunner)
Length: 15’2
Width: 8’8
Height: 8’2
Weight: 18 tonnes
Road speed: 65mph
Range: 450 miles
Engine: Efficient diesel (Austrin-Ontis special design)
Armament: Variable (See below)
Chassis: Advanced composite bodywork and advanced lightweight armour
Unit cost : 1.2 million (One configuration)

The Vigilance has a single 7.62mm machine gun in a forward 180’ mount and a remote operated turret with 360’ rotation. What is unusual about the Vigilance is that it’s remote turret has been designed to incorporate a number of different weapon systems to fulfil battlefield roles. Here are the current turret configurations:

Main battle tank: 40mm cannon and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun

Battle support: 25mm cannon (chain gun) and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun

Artillery support: 120mm mortar

Crowd control (Type One): Torrent class high pressure water cannon

Crowd control (Type Two): Hellfire class vehicular flamethrower

Heavy armour: 2-8 TOW rocket tubes and 7.62mm coaxial machine gun

Changing a weapon configuration takes 3-6 hours depending on local support quality. The Vigilance has a large rear area for ammo storage, accesses internally and from a small rear ramp. This are may be used to carry a conversion kit or four soldiers instead of ammo (exception – This area is always required for Crowd control one and two configurations).

The Vigilance is designed to cut down on the amount of spending required on armour, by providing a versatile equivalent to situations that would require multiple different vehicles. Currently, Austrin-Ontis teams are working on two further configurations, Air defence and Mine laying/sweeping. We welcome further suggestions for more configurations.

Discounts are available for bulk-buys and governments of similar global outlook (dictatorship type - in particular Klamath and the rest of the GDODAD for being prepared to remove the rogue state of Glubbdubdrib in our home region).

***Update***

We have two new turret configurations available for purchase

Tank hunter - By popular request, a recoilless 120mm cannon, suitable for use against main battletanks.

Air defence - Mounts one Goalkeeper system. Goalkeeper is an autonomous and fully integrated weapon system for short-range defence systems against missiles and aircraft. The system automatically performs the entire process from surveillance and detection to destruction, including selection of the next priority target. Goalkeeper combines a search radar (high power, I-band), a pin-point tracking radar (I/K-band), a weapon control system and a gun (Lockhead Martin 30 mm, 7 barrel, 4200 rds/min, range 3 miles) in one devastating system. The system features automatic target indication and track initiation. Threat priority is determined automatically and is directly followed by direction of the track antenna to the "priority one" target.
The Goalkeeper was originally developed for defence of ships, but with our modifications, it can protect your tank coulmns from missile attack also. It is significantly larger than other weapon systems for the Vigilant, and requires fairly extensive modification. Field changing requires 2-3 days and the system costs 500,000. It is however very, very effective.

Cost breakdown for purchase

One Vigilance battletank (with any one turret apart from goalkeeper) - 1.2M
Extra turrets (apart from goalkeeper) - 50,000
Goalkeeper turret - 500,000

Yeah, col, is it possible for me to buy 1,000 of these tanks in Artillery Support Tank configuration? I could get my own gear to shift them to other configurations, the gear is fairly generic.
18-03-2003, 21:19
We will purchase 1,000 chassis, with 500 Main Battle Tank, 250 Battle Support and 250 Artillery Support configurations.
19-03-2003, 07:30
Kecha - Yes, that is perfectly possible, the basic model is supplied with one configuration of your choice. 1000 models with artillery support configuration total 1.2 billion, however, we find your governmental style agreeable, and therefore we offer a 5% discount for a total cost of 1.14 billion. Production has begun, how would you like them delivered?

Whispering Voices - Order recieved for a total cost of 1.2 billion (1.14 billion with discount). Production will begin as soon as Kecha's order is cleared and no special delivery arrangements are neccessary.

I thought it said 'bottlebank' - I was a little confused at first.
19-03-2003, 07:51
We would like 1000 in the basic design.
19-03-2003, 08:00
Pure Evil - Order confirmed for 1000 basic models. We start work when existing orders are completed and will inform you when a definite supply schedule is approved. Cost will be 1.2 billion (1.14billion with discount)

Monkecia - Since the Vigilance was completed, a number of our research staff are slacking about and achieving nothing. It would be relatively easy to produce a complete design for a modular bottlebank within a week and start production soon after. What aspect of modularity would you like? We were thinking attachable coloured plates which indicate the type of bottle to be placed in each bank, though it could also be possible to place a modular turret on each bottlebank, to shoot people who place the wrong colour of bottle in a bank.
19-03-2003, 08:10
The design specifications are very interesting, and as our war industry is only evolving, we would be interested in obtaining several prototypes for testing.

One suggestion: would the Vigilance be capable of fulfilling a tankhunter role? Seeing the 120mm artilerry turret, a 120 cannon shouldn't be much of a problem... Or is it?
19-03-2003, 11:21
Our engineers made it quite clear that developing a 120mm cannon for a tank hunting role would be possible, but difficult, given the small size of the Vigilance. If you want to do research in this area, we would be happy to provide however many tanks you wish for testing (at the normal price) as well as complete design specifications, in exchange for a copy of the design of a 120mm cannon for the Vigilance if you succeed in it's development.

Obviously, we would really like it if you didn't release a Vigilance clone on the market, since that would be extremely impolite.
20-03-2003, 06:25
After talking to our engineers, we have a more solid viability breakdown on a 120mm gun. The Vigilance is not heavy enough to mount a standard 120mm cannon, like you would find on a main battletank. That requires a weight of 60 tonnes (approximately), and since the Vigilance is severly underweight, firing that gun would rip the turret off or flip the tank. Neither of these are very good. However, there is nothing stopping a developer from putting a recoil-less 120mm gun as a turret mount for a tank hunter configuration.

We have been interesseted before but with this new development, we are asking for enough tanks to equip a regiment, I think it is about 500 tanks.

Minister of Defence Major Steinman
20-03-2003, 07:22
That will be fine. Which turret configurations do you wish to be supplied with your tanks? 500 tanks will cost 600 million (570 million with discount) + the cost of any extra turrets you desire.
Derto
20-03-2003, 07:27
30 % main battle turret
30 % tank hunter turret
30 % artillery support turret
10 % battle support turret
20-03-2003, 07:35
You will have to wait a little while on the tank hunter turret, we haven't got a viable design of yet. Realistically though, by the time we can supply your order we hope to have the turret completed. Aside from that, order confirmed. It should be delivered in 2-3 months and we will inform you if we cannot supply tank hunter configurations by then, in which they will be shipped to you as soon as they are finished.

20-03-2003, 07:40
We would be interested in purchasing one chassis and one of each turret configuration for testing.

-Rachel Knight, External Affairs, GMC Military Arms.
20-03-2003, 07:43
That will be a mere 1.5M and one unit can be shipped out within the next few days. If you wish, we can supply you with one unit of each future turret when they are developed, so you can test those also.
GMC Military Arms
20-03-2003, 07:44
Yes, that would be most agreeable.

The Dictatorship of Jace would like to order 1750 Chassis, 750 Main Battle Tank Modules, 750 Artiliry Support Modules, and 250 Crowd Control Type 2 Modules (Not for use on our own citizens mind you).

If these units prove efficent, we will be ordering many more.
20-03-2003, 11:42
Your order is approved, and will be shipped out in 2-3 months. The total cost will be 2.2 billion (1.995 billion with regime discount). We hope you will find the Vigilance a useful asset to your defence forces, and we welcome any future transactions between our nations.
22-03-2003, 06:49
All orders are now cleared, and anynation which has not recieved their tanks already should be recieving them soon. We do still have some manufactured tanks available though, and we are still operating at full production, meaning that we hope to get any further orders out immediately. What this means is, any nation preparing to/going to war, we can get Vigilants out to you in time to bolster your force.

In addition, we have two new turret configurations available for purchase

Tank hunter - By popular request, a recoilless 120mm cannon, suitable for use against main battletanks. Costs 50,000.

We love the thought of a SAM modular tank, we would like to order 250 of those, that is 250 SAM moduls and 250 vigilants.

Minister of War Major Steinman
25-03-2003, 08:34
Order received and confirmed for 250 Vigilance chassis and 250 Goalkeeper modular turrets. Total cost will be 404M (inc discount). It will take about a month for the order to be shipped out, we've got a load of chassis's but the goalkeepers are still being produced.

25-03-2003, 09:54
are there any other low cost tanks and choppers that a small country could use??
25-03-2003, 10:04
We don't do them ourselves (at the moment), but I would recommend you talk to GMC Military Arms, since they have a much greater range of products.
25-03-2003, 10:05
i see that your tank configuration is an interesting 1, we would like to purchase 1 of the tanks chassises, just the chassis, for research on modifieing our current laser weapon technology to a modular turret unit for this vigilante tank
25-03-2003, 10:17
That will be a mere 1.2million. If you do not mind providing us with the schematics for a successful incorporation of a laser weapon into a Vigilance turret, then not only can you have a chassis for free, but we will also provide plans and specialists to assist. Needless to say, if we did receive schematics they would be for home use only, since you would likely want to sell them if you wanted them sold at all.
25-03-2003, 10:23
We would like to place an order for 5 Chassis with the Goalkeeper system installed as Default, in addition, we would also like 1 [just 1] of each turret system, along with instructions and a manual on how to change it.
25-03-2003, 10:25
well, if you wish you may sell them as i am currently supplying a different kind of mobile weapons platform
25-03-2003, 10:34
That breaks down as
5 chassis 6 million
One of each turret (7) 0.1 million (5 free with the chassis)
5 goalkeeper systems 2.5 million
Total 8.6M (8.17 with discount)

The tanks will be supplied with goalkeeper systems installed, and all relevant documentation is provided. We will ship them out to you within 3 weeks.
25-03-2003, 10:39
Remylands, that is great. We will wait upon results of the adaptation, and assuming it is successful, purchase the design for widespread sale.
25-03-2003, 10:56
it might take a while as we are currently also researching:
energy weaponry and improvements on the NLAT tank design
25-03-2003, 11:06
APPEAR!
25-03-2003, 12:09
As to prior agreement, We would like to finalise the tanks for food agreement.

We look foward to the receipt of your most excellent weapons.

Kind Regards,

Mark Townshend, CEO, Orgotek Industries

If we assume a pizza costs in the region of 15 dollars (including drink), and a single tank costs 1.2M (1.14M with discount) then the exchange will be in the region of 76,000 pizzas per tank which should be sufficient to stop our citizens from eating our APCs for a while.
Extra turrets will be 3166 pizzas each and goalkeeper systems 31666 pizzas per unit.
We look forward to further dealings with you (and the pizzas)
The Silver Turtle
25-03-2003, 12:22
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......pizza.....
25-03-2003, 13:02
The prices you have offered appears reasonable, we accept the deal.
25-03-2003, 13:04
*edit- sorry about the double post*
25-03-2003, 13:12
I, Freedom of Life would like to buy 100,000 of the tanks with the original design.
25-03-2003, 13:14
Excellent. We shall have the tanks to you according to the schedule previously suggested. Should you have any queries about your new vehicles, or wish to expand your military with further purchases, please do not hesitate to contact us.
25-03-2003, 13:33
::mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......pizza.....::

I assure you, we have enough pizza for all interested parties. :D

Mark Townshend, CEO, Orgotek industires
26-03-2003, 11:07
Freedom of life - Wow! We can certainly supply 100000 tanks for you, but you'll have to give us some time to put together that size of order. The total cost will be 120b (114 with discount) and we can start shipping within a month, although the whole order may take up to 6 months to arrive.

Orgotek - Stop it with the pizza! Now I'm hungry and have to go and get some food. Damn your marketing!
26-03-2003, 11:33
"I would wish to order five tank with the tank hunter module, three with the fire support module and two without any installed module."

"Payment will be wired electronically imediately on arrival."

"Also, would the tank be able to hold any Type-II RailGun AP Cannons? Or is its chassis to light?"

-Johnathin Thernason, External Military Affairs Bureau
26-03-2003, 11:43
OK - we don't normally supply the tanks without a turret (since one is included in the base price) but it is not much trouble to make an exception.

Total price will be 11.9 million (11.305 with discount). We can have them shipped out to you praqctically immediately since we have a slight excess of those two models at the moment.

Not sure about incorporating Type-II Railgun AP cannon, we aren't actually aware of the specifics of the model of weapon. The chassis is designed to be fairly heavy for it's size to allow it to incorporate fairly large weapon systems so you might be in luck. Provided it's got less kick than a direct fire 120mm cannon it should be ok.
10-04-2003, 15:04
Oh well, it's been a while since I last did it, and there are lots of new nations who might want to buy up our groovy tank, so......

BUMP! (for goodness)
06-07-2003, 03:26
I would like to purchase 2 main battle tank versions and 2 battle support units for testing.
06-07-2003, 03:57
id like 5000 Vigilance class tanks(battle support), and two modular packages of each type for each of them.

Consider the money wired.
06-07-2003, 04:40
I'd like a picture...
10-09-2003, 22:57
100 tanks
24-10-2003, 09:04
While I can appreciate your style of government I myself prefer a more open and free society. With that said, I hope I can qualify for a bulk purchase discount with the following order. If so, I would be happy to take any discount in the form of extra turrets.

................................Total.........Unit..........Total Unit
................................Units.........Price.........Price
Battle tank................160...........1.2M..........192M
Battle support............160..........1.2M..........192M
