OOC: Having re-read this thread this morning, I realise my comments about my nation having outlawed christianity were not explained as well as they should have been, but as TonyM first minister has nothing to add to the debate, I'll step out of character for a moment to explain.

My ideals include the peaceful co existance of people of all races and creeds, their beliefs being as they wish them to be. As a person I'm an aetheist, but then no ones written a census form that allows me to pick and choose the elements I like and identify with from many diverse myths and cultures. I have no problems with christians, however I've watched in this forum a worrying trend of Christians feeling the need to stand up and defend their faith, and to me it has felt as if that defense has been an attempt to force a set of philosophy's and beliefs on people who have the right to make up their own minds.

A quick look through the forum shows no such activity from any of the other major or minor world faiths. TonyM as representative of Lokieana would never join the debate on abolishing organised religion..... if such a proposal ever made it to the UN floor, and looked as if it would be carried, then Lokieana would withdrawal from the UN in order to keep its populations right to decide for themselves.

This debate is however different. Its not an issue Lokieana can avoid by hitting a withdraw button on a webpage, its an issue where the small mindedness of a single individual threatens in the make believe world we have here to erupt into something very distasteful, and effects anyone pointed at to be on some list. Lokieana has in effect reacted the same way the UK homeoffice reacted after 9/11 in banning the free speach and movement of a number of radical clerics who were advocating Jihad. Whilst the libertarian in me found that offensive, the practicalitan in me saw that was required in order to not inflame racial or religious hatred on either side of the dividing line between the faiths, as well as keeping the issue about the sick actions of a small number of individuals.

Lokieana has in effect banned the standing up and defending of christianity, and the promotion of christianity within its borders as the best means possible to protect its society from the radicals. Whilst the law is very vague, no christians will be arrested for attending church or worshipping their god and his prophets. The moment they stand up and start rabble rousing..... well a few decisions I took ingame would probably get them shot the way our police force has evolved.
