"Some of these people have endured terrible hardships to reach our borders," says International Red Cross spokesperson Violet Dredd.I found this name rather amusing, if only because it combines the names of two of our admins...

This made me laugh a few days ago when I received it:

"Heavy metal music is a plague in our good nation and its God-fearing people!" argues local priest and easy listening advocate Jazz Love. "Just the other day, I heard a song by some group called Hell's Irate Puppies with a sinful quantity of bass and drum... oh, and there were probably some lines about killing parents, too, I'd imagine! It's vital that we ban this music, and remove this terrible influence from our children's lives! Think of the children!"

I think a few more names have been added to the bank recently. Apparently my brother is now Max Jong-Il, obviously some relation to the North Korea premiere.

I have a Teacher union leader named Pip christmas.
Why is that funny? :?
18-11-2003, 20:13
It struck me as funny bcause I personally, and I stress, personally, have never met anyone with the last name of Christmas. I'm looking through my telephone directory right now, and nothing is coming up. Besides, Pip, to me, was always something of a humorous name, reminded me of the Character from Great Expectations (I detest Dickens so much, along with Shakespeare and John Dunne...)

I've had it in several issues. He should add "Hussein" to the list of last names (The king of Jordan is a "Hussein" as well, though I don't mean it that way).

George W. Hussein. That would be nice.

Salafaria...(sp?) It doesn't really matter, because if I know anything about Asian names - and I'm Chinese - all the words are symbolized by what the west likes to call "characters" or "drawings" and are one syllable each...and the last name would be one word, and there would be either one or two for the first name. So in Korea, in all probability it's Il Kim-Jong, but we call him Kim-Jong Il. Not sure, though, because Jiang Zemin of china was still Jiang Zemin here... Now I confused myself.

Anyways, I got the compulsory democracy issue again...hehe, maybe it'll improve my superb political freedoms

1. "Compulsory voting makes about as much as sense as having the death penalty for attempted suicide," says civil rights activist Prudence Clinton. "You can't force people to be free! You can only give them the choice. Besides, if all those derelicts who can't be bothered to get off their ass once every few years voted, who would they elect? I shudder to think."
[Accept]

2. "It's not contradictory at all," argues political commentator Alexei Silk. "The fact is, if not everyone votes, the outcome isn't truly representative. Some groups--like elderly gun nuts--vote more often than others. That's why always we always end up with such terrible politicians."
[Accept]

3. "This raises an interesting issue," says Hack Chicago, your brother. "And that is: why do we need elections, anyway? Seems to me it would be much simpler if you just decided what was right, and did it. Wouldn't that save everyone a lot of time?"
[Accept]

I got "prudence clinton" which many may believe to be an oxymoron, and "hack chicago." Interesting combinations :)

Falala longbottom....lol, I got Fluer Longbottom that day.

The latest "Harry Potter" book to hit schools across Jaggedy has stirred up the greatest controversy yet.
The Debate

1. "I quite enjoyed the book, until I got to the part where Harry summons evil demons to do his bidding," says religious leader Thomas Jefferson. "Now that's just wrong. We need to restore some sense to this debate, by which I mean we should remove this book from the shelves, salt it thoroughly, and burn it."
[Accept]

2. Teachers union President Elizabeth Licorish says, "Come on, the book is fantasy! And it's a damn good read. I'd like the government to issue a statement of support for our teachers and librarians, so kids can enjoy good books without interference from religious wackos, like Christians."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

I finally got the Harry Potter issue! Thomas Jefferson looks down on evil demons and finishes a sentence without using the words "whereas." :P

"For too long, our bodies have been trapped in these prisons of cotton and polyester!" yelled protester Bill Clinton, while apparently developing a nasty case of sunburn. "We must repeal the puritanical laws that make public nudity a crime. My body--my choice to dangle!"
