The First Shiistani War (Sign Up/OOC: MT)

In Shiistan's history, they were once a Soviet Socialist Republic under the USSR. In the late sixties and into the seventies the Mujahideen fight an exceptionally bloody war with them for their independence, a war which the Mujahids lost in the end. I would like to recreate this war and eventually the 2nd Shiistani War which occured during the 90s (during the First and Second Chechen Wars) with an experianced Roll Player who would like to be the Soviet Union. Other people can join in as other nations of that era or even themselves, but only on a small level. I would like this to be mostly a one on one with me against another individual, chiefly because I want to get used to RPing Guerrilla warfare, something which I believe may be difficult but not undoable. Any takers?

What happens in this war affects my history and can create a better background for me to build upon in the future for my RPs.

Seems interesting; I'm up for doing the USSR. Of course, Afghanistan didn't fight the Soviets all alone - they had covert help from the US, Pakistan, etc. There might be room for one or two other nations stepping in...?

I'll supply the rebels with arms a la the US. For one Tolvan hates commies and two, Charlie Wilson's War and Ghost Wars are among my favorite books.

Thats why I said other nations are welcome to participate too, just on a smaller scale. The United States sent in some special forces and CIA Paramilitary units but the majority was just material. Now the Pakistanis did actually send in troops to auxiliate the Mujahideen but they really were ineffectual. Anyhow this isn't a history lesson lol...sure! If you want to get involved as another nation (Kahnistan, or some other state) that is great, and if you want to get involved as the USSR thats just as great.

Excellent, yes Charlie Wilson's War is a fantastic book. Heh...I'm more partial to One Soldier's War and My Jihad, telling the tale of the First Chechen War from both perspectives. My Jihad being about a Muslim soldier and One Soldiers War being about a Russian conscript being sent to Chechnya...reminds me of myself when I too was on that train bound for Chechnya. Bad times.

True, but actual US presence on the ground was minimal. The ISI forced the US to allow them to be gatekeepers of all US assitance going in country which they then funnelled to favored commanders who were usually Pashtun radicals. The US favored guys like Massoud. But enough of that.

Tolvanic involvement would likely be limited to weapons, supplies, money, maybe a few specops/merc teams. Later we might RP that assistance biting Tolvan in the ass the way the Afghan aid did the West (Britain helped the Mujahidden too).

I might RP some of my nation's Muslims going to join Mujahideen in your nation...but at that time period in my nation anything else would be impossible.
Maybe fund raising...

I see that I am one of the few communist nations on this world...sigh.

I could RP as a collapsing Soviet Union, or I could be a Soviet ally.

Or maybe you could even break away form Stoklomolvi. Yeeeah.

Yeah. One of the places I've been that I don't like to talk about.

@Stoklomolvi: Well at this point in history, i.e the First Shiistani War, its in the early 1970s. So the USSR isn't collapsing yet.

If you want I could play the part of the UK, they gave armaments and supplies and put in the SAS as "advisers"

I'd be interested in role-playing as the Soviet Union. Would I be the actual Soviet Union and be using its real-life technology?

Yes, though any NS tech you may want to use could ne negotiated in, but I'd prefer it to be pretty accurate to what they had in the late sixties and early seventies. (i.e alot of T-62s, T-64s, and T-55s, a few T-72s maybe...etc etc)

I'd definately be glad to have ya on board!

What's your geography like?

What's your geography like?

Its basically Afghanistan but on the Black Sea. I based it in my mind on Chechnya since thats all I've experianced.

EDIT:

Its very mountainous in the north, the farther east you go it becomes more desert/sand-ish though continues to be mountainous. Same in the south. In the North-Western area it is mountainous but more temperate like Chechnya. Though near the Black Sea Coast it is relatively flat or hilly and temperate.

You can be if you want to be. I only needed the USSR. Any other nation is completely fine with me. :)

I assume all sects and ethnicity are welcome as Mujahids. Many of my nations Muslims are Sub-Saharan African(at least those most likely to fight).

Yes, something which I believe will better exemplify this is that I knew of white American muslim converts who went to fight with the Mujahideen in Chechnya, and were actually trained in Afghani training camps prior. Perhaps you would be interested to read My Jihad by Alkai Collins.

I didn't fight, I wouldn't fight against my fellow Muslims, I'd be infinitely more likely to fight the Russians.
