The Imperial Republic of Greston Resigns from Corporate Alliance

Greston
16-04-2008, 03:42
It was a chain of events that happened so quickly. It fucked up everything getting that Ultimatum; John Batther had to resign in less than a week which meant he had to finish up almost every single thing he needed to do in that time period. Major cut backs had to be made after the fact so much money was given to get the damned Pictish off his back as well. It was chaos. But the source of much of the hatred upon Greston was clear.

The speech was scheduled at two o' clock that afternoon. The mass of reporters, and people just interested in it poured into the Press Room. In moments it was filled with people chatting and talking, waiting for the speech to come. They weren't quiet until President John Batther appeared on the stage in front of a podium bearing the seal. He adjusted the mike then took a sip of water before he began.

"I summoned you here today to speak about a very, very important topic that is a source of many issues we currently are annoyed with. That being our membership in the Corporate Alliance. When joining it was when President Michael Check was in office, we all know what happened there. Under these circumstances, obviously it was a bad decision. Thus the reason today I resign the Imperial Republic of Greston and her Foreign Territories from the Corporate Alliance.

I wish not to be irrational but I think this is a very good decision. They have caused us many (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=554176), many (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=554059) problems. I cannot stand here and watch as their stupidity rubs off on us and causes war and mass hatred of our glorious nation.

Many people find them to be horrible nations and I do not wish to be mixed in with the likes of that. Being under their banner shows that we support communism and the likes which we don't, just recently a member state committed genocide of its own people. I definitely do not, nor does most of this nation, agree or support this kind of behavior.

Hopefully this can better our image on world scene and stop such scenarios where we are surrounded by hatred from happening again. I apologize for making such irrational decisions yesterday by using threats upon a nation much smaller then ours after they created an Anti-Griffencrest Alliance. I was not thinking when I did so and it was not right nor shall I do so again for no longer is the nation of Blackhelm Confederacy an ally of Greston's unless in trade. Thank you."

Office of the Hegemon, Second United Kingdom:

Lord Sumguy smiled as he read the newspaper, a headline reading Greston Coems to Senses, Leaves CA upon the front page. "Well, this is pleasant news." He said to Dr. Booker, his foreign secretary, who was standing in front of him. "It would seem there is yet hope for Greston."

Official Hegemonic Declaration:

The Hegemony hereby applauds the actions of the nation of Greston in it's exit from the rganization known as the Corporate Alliance. The hegemon expresses his wish that this will be the beggining of a new, internationally benevolent Greston, free from the greed and aggresion with which is has in the past acted towards other nations. While complete reconciliation and re-joining of the Hegemony will not be permitted at this time if sought, trade agreements between Greston and the nations of the Hegemony shall from this point on be welcomed and encouraged. In time, complete re-integration into the Hegemony may be possible, should the nation of Greston show that it has truly changed it's international policy.

Official Declaration of the Amazonian Dominion

Department of Foreign Affairs

It is with great pleasure that the Imperial Dominion sees the sovereign nation of Greston choose to take the political high road. In a world full of greed and selfishness, it is delightful and calming to see leaders opt out of agreements that cause overall pain, even though they may supply benefits to nations in question. When morality seems dead throughout the globe, when the tunnel seems to pass forever on through the purgatory of ethical questioning, it is good to see the stars that still stand.

In the spirit of Greston's honorable decision to rise above the pack of jackals that is the Corporate Alliance, the Dominion extends its hand of friendship to Greston. As of this point, Amazonia offers a Mutual Defense Pact to Greston's leadership to meet its entrance into a better world for its decision, with the promise to work towards mutual benefit for a brighter future.

That was the wrong move to make. As a member of the CA, Griffincrest mercenaries were all around Greston, whether the government knew it or not. These men soon began to converge on the Parliament of Greston. Roughly three hundred men, all out of uniform, approached the structure under the guise of protesters, carrying slogans and chanting that Greston should remain in the CA. While the staged protest was taking place, at the local international airport, three black vans rolled up to the main terminal.

Fifteen men rushed from the vans and stormed the terminal. The men all wore ski masks and kevlar vests and carried AR-550 Leafanistani made assault rifles. Several rounds were fired off into the terminal at the guards, and the men quickly began shouting orders.

In another part of the city, a car pulled into the parking lot of a bustling shopping centre. The driver exited the car and proceeded to leave the area. Moments later, the car erupted into a fireball, sending thousands of nails, tacks, and ball bearings tearing through the windows and doors of the store, as well as anybody unfortunate enough to be in the way.

The wave had only just begun.

OOC: unless this has been pre arranged you may want to completley rethink that.. The international community will probably become very pissed if it becomes public IC info (which I assume as of now its not)

OOC: I plan on going to go to great lengths to make sure people do not know it is me.

The men who had broken into the airport had already had their orders on what exactly to demand of the Grestonian police when they arrive. They were going to demand that the crackdown against crack cocaine be lifted. They also were carrying several kilos of dynamite so that they could prepare booby traps around the doors and any other possible entry into the terminal. These men were in actuality highly trained Griffincrest mercenaries with absolutely nothing to live for, but today, as far as anybody outside of the Griffincrest Board of Directors knew, they were nothing more than mere henchmen for a powerful Grestonian cocaine mogul who was tired of the new crack down.

John Flanigan was the leader of the whole crew. He was recruited during the brief invasion of Liberated New Ireland, when Griffincrest invaded to assist its Toopoxican allies. Flanigan was on the wrong side of the law his whole life, and when he found out that Griffincrest was hiring locals he was quick to join as a way out of the country. Flanigan was always willing to take some of the most dangerous jobs, because those had the best pay. Flanigan might be in over his head with this one, but he hoped that somehow he would get out alive, with a huge paycheck.

Abu Ahmed Al-Syri was the demolitions expert. Abu was born and raised in a small town in Beiraq that was lucky enough to be only a few exits down the highway from a major Griffincrest oil field. Abu signed up for a position in the Griffincrest Security Arm at the young age of sixteen. Now, eight years later, Abu has been through hell and back with the Corporation, fighting for oil across the globe. He took this mission because he was promised that if he made it out, he could go back to Beiraq with a full retirement plan.

Yuri "Whisper" Ogrikava was a stealth specialist from Zukariaa. He signed up at the Griffincrest naval base in the nation, and was quickly pushed through the ranks beause of an uncanny natural talent to hide, sneak, and steal. Yuri was here because of the need for a man to hide out in the airport in case the Grestonians actually did do something stupid, and attack at a later time.

Along with these three, twelve other men from across the globe were holding up shop in the air port, waiting to see what happens next.

To all interested parties;

We applaud the decision of President Batther and the Imperial Republic of Greston to depart the Corporate Alliance. We have noted with concern certain (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=550766) actions (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=551047&page=2)taken by the Griffincrest Corporation.

Being as these are just a few examples of poor behaviour on the part of CA members, We expect that the CA will shortly begin operations agaisnt Greston. If they decide that Greston is too powerful to take on in an economical manner in a head-on confrontation, they will begin sending in agents provocateurs and other people, to destabilise Greston from within.

We urge the Imperial Republic to employ caution.

And in other news....people look at the situation in Greston. I made the men who attacked the terminal claim that they were working with a cocaine runner for a reason, the guy recently started a heavy crackdown on the group.

As for the car bombing, that could be just about anything. I am going to drop an explanation for that as well soon. There is absolutely no way at all that anybody would be able to point the finger at Griffincrest in this situation, and it is near impossible to know that these three events are connected in any way shape and/or form.

OOC: Given that Griffincrest has a long history of attacking other nations without provocation, and given that Greston has just provoked them (you) by withdrawing from the Corporate Alliance, it is hardly godmodding to speculate that Griffincrest will take some path to nasty, bloody revenge. Given further that the world's eye is on this situation, it is justified speculation that such actions will be covert in nature.

P.S. You may wish to click on the links provided - they are just a couple of examples of bad behaviour on the part of Griffincrest. And indeed on the part of the CA. Face facts, you guys aren't popular, and you will be the suspects-in-chief if and when something bad happens anywhere. You're like the CIA - you've done so many nasty things that you are the instant suspect when something bad happens, even if you had nothing to do with it.

P.P.S. Don't be so quick to throw around accusations of godmodding - I haven't linked Griffincrest to any specific actions against Greston, as yet, in my posts. That would be godmodding, to do such without evidence.

The file came slamming down upon John Batther's desk. He would be out of office in a week so he needed to crackdown on his work. But this seemed to be deemed more important than dealing with the ultimatum and his fellow regioners disagreement with it.

"Fuck." was how he responded.

He already knew what the file was about, it was about the three terrorist attacks in less than an hour. The protest was dwindling because most of the smarter Grestonians knew that staying in it would eventually cause their demise. But the few stupid enough to protest against the good decision stayed out their, screaming their heads off and waving poorly made signs.

Four Riot Squads, with 30 mean in each, was deployed and set around the protest to take care of any possible violence much of the likes happening in down town Easen.

The Air Port was quickly surrounded by Military Officials, Police Officers, and News Crews trying to catch a story. The police cars made a sort of barracade and the officers were getting ready or aiming at the airport form behind. The Airport (http://www.airport-technology.com/projects/bangkok/images/terminal-5.jpg) was a magnificant structure. The terminals main materials were steel and glass. From the outside most of the action on the inside was visible through the glass.

Over 1,000 worried, stupid citizens and foreigners found themselves caught inside the airport. It was midday at an aiport in down town Easen, the most populated city in all of Greston. It wasn't surprising to find so many people in there at once.

The President and General Chamberfeild found themselves argueing amongst eachother on what to do and the possible suspects.

"Who the Hell do you think did this!"

"I don't know, we're just a bunch of retards who have no idea how to understand that the second we resign someone attacks us. Obviously it is Griffencrest or Blackhelm. This is fucking shit."

"Well we could always give them a taste of their own medicine?" was General Chamberfeilds idea.

"Quite. Yes indeed." Mister Batther liked the idea quite a bit.

The lead official in the area was Colonel Peter Right. He found himself ontop of a police car with a Zastava M76 and a radio uplink to the airport. He was surrounded by negotiators, a translator, police officers, and a few diplomats. He got off the car and turned on his radio. He waited until it was on the correct line with the airport speakers and he started talking into it.

"Hello this is Colonel Peter Right of the United Armed Forces of Greston. I am ordering you to vacate immediately and surrender these hostages to us. If you do not respond in one hour we shall destroy the airport."

-Haven't found a warring 3rd party (terrorist, spy ring, or other non-CA affiliated nationals) yet that uses it.

-So that narrows things down to Leaf, GC, and maybe Maldorians...
Mal, mind if Griffencrest uses you as a scapegoat?

IC:
It was all over the news now... pictures of men toting assault rifles inside a poorly barricaded airport, occassional brief snapshots of men clearly armed with AR-550s entering the building...

True, Pinkerton was rather partial to proclaim that it was the work of Griffencrest... but Mendez had other ideas...

With this incedent, and properly manipulated wording, he could make certain fence-sitting allies finally pick a side, and pray for mercy to those that fall on the wrong side.

Meanwhile, he had a ship en-route to destinations officially unknown, initially it went to Worl-Soviet held waters, then for Volzgrad, finished by another course correction to Blackhelm Confederacy...

It was clear the cover would be blown should it continue the way it was, thus, a favor was pulled, and a Soviet-marked helicopter inquesited the intended destination of the ship...

The cover story, a very remarkable and plauasble one, was that the navigation gear had gone haywire, as they were attempting to make it back to The Free Land Of Khornate Tribes. Apparently all the ship had to do was circle a coast, but had become lost in a storm, and had been traveling wide circles ever since due to a misaligned rudder and bent screw and being located near the 'dead zone' of the magnetic west pole...

Meanwhile yet another board of inquiry asked for permission to know who had purchased AR-550s or the production rights thereof.

BTW, I found a grand total of 9 users of the AR-550... Leaf+BC are the biggest.

Re: Terrorist Attacks

Greetings Mr. Batther, I believe my government and I may have an interesting proposal for you. I have just recently heard of your countries terrorist "problem". Even though our countries have been at each other's throats for decades, we would like to aid you in bringing theses bastards to justice (justice being a shallow grave). If you accept my offer, then 3 divisions of Volzgradien Naval Infantry will be sent to ward off any large scale attacks. However, if you want all the help we may provide, then we will send the battle-hardened and fearsome 1st "Black Lightening" Spetsnaz brigade to tear out the heart of the terrorists (literally at times). To conclude this message, I and all of Volzgrad would like to apologize for threatening your nation in the ultimatum. We were foolish and brash, the two things I hate most. Good day to you, and good luck.

IC:

It was wired down to the nations of Blackhelm Confederacy, Leafanistan, and Maldorians. The reason being was because of the assualt rifles being used by the attacking terrorists. It was obvious it wasn't the other users of the weapon for they weren't related to Greston at all. It was a rush decision but after thinking about the timing, the coincidence, and the weapon being used they decided to make Griffencrest the main suspect. The Imperial Republic of Greston had been under vassalage of Maldorians almost since they had appeared on world scene. Thus the reason they wouldn't do it. Greston had been using Leafanistan for military supplies for a while and some Grestonian products were sold at their storefront.

The only suspect that wasn't closely allied to Greston in any way was Blackhelm. So automatically they were the target of the plan cocked up by General Chamberfeild and President Batther.

In the wake of increased aggression by the Imperial Republic of Greston and the potential threat posed by this conflict in regard to the Vetalian macroeconomy, several punitive measures have been approved by the Proconsular Council in order to ensure the swift resolution of this conflict.

1. Effective at the start of the next fiscal year, the Vetalian government will proceed with the full divestiture of all Greston government debt and currency held in government accounts.

2. Effective at the start of the next fiscal year, all oustanding sovereign bonds held by the Vetalian government will be called with payment in rubles expected at the agreed-upon discount rate for bonds called before maturity. Failure to repay will result in the classification of the Grestonian government as in default and subsequently all Eurodollar deposits held in Vetalian banks will be devalued as per the Uniform Accounts Act of 1966.

"Um, 1 in the afternoon, about an hour after the police responded to the attack. Should we commence the plan?"

"Yes General, I think we should."

AFS SparrowDoom, B2 Bomber
The United Socialist States of Razorl Air Space

Greston had allied her self with a newly established nation by the name of Razorl. It had faced lots and lots of trouble and power changes, less than a week ago they were the Incorporated States of Razorl, incorporated with Griffencrest and Blackhelm Confederacy.

Blackhelm had a strong prescence in the area, had many oil feilds located in it. But at the same time there was also a good Grestonian prescence from the Corporate Energy and Metals Company. They were mining in various areas, many different things. Much like Griffencrest, Corporate Energy was funded by the government only because the oil went to governmentally funded things. Unlike Griffencrest they had no protection of their own so the United Grestonian Armed Forces provided such as was needed.

The protection in Razorl was smaller than in other countries because of the ultimatum but it was one brigade strong, over 100,000 men. There was also a small air fleet in the area, 30 F-22s Raptors, 15 F-15 Eagles, and 4 B2 Bombers.

Luckily the air force section was deployed because is made the next mission possible. Two of the B2s were flying away from their Nimitz by the Grestonian Oil Feilds, escorted by 10 F-22s. Their mission was simple. They travelled at the fastest speed possible and put their afterburners on, going at a speed of 400 mphs.

They slowed down as they started to come near the Griffencrest Fleet and feilds. The F-22s swept in to cause a distraction and starting firing volleys of AIM-120 AMRAAMs and AIM-9 Sidewinders at the fleet. The B2 Spirits went towards the feilds and readied their payload.

"Nue One to Nue Two, Ready to Drop."

"Yessir Nue One, Ready to Drop."

Out came their payload. A 45,400 kg ordanance of napalm bombs came flieing out. To finish it off a out came 160 500 lb Mk-86 fragmentation bombs from the Bomb Rack Assembly of the Spirit upon the feild. A message was blasted out as they fired:

"You attack our nation we kill your baby! You have one hour before another attack!"

OOC: BS for so many reasons.

Reason 1) I distribute arms throughout the world, and not only that but soldiers carrying the AR-550 have been killed world wide, thus broadening the availability of the weapon. Honestly, anybody on NS could be toting one of these.

Reason 2) You can't launch B2's off of a Nimitz

Reason 3) If you are going to jump to a conclusion like that with no form of diplomacy, that is just retarded. There is still no concrete proof it was me.

Reason 4) You have just had a massive crack down on illegal narcotics. These men are claiming that they work for a drug lord. Why would you instantly assume this is a ruse when you are crushing what has made some of these people rich and powerful?

Reason 5) Are you seriously going to launch an attack on me purely because of assault rifle, this goes back to Reason 1.

Reason 6) Even if I am supplying a group in your nation, which is quite possible, would you go to these extents of bombing anohter nation?

Reason 7) Think logically, you know that you are completely using OOC information in this situation. If it was not me, but some puppet that I made as a cover group for this, would you still be able to trace it back to me if I sent the exact same first post minus the first paragraph and the OOC?
Greal

A lone Greal military transport took off from an airfield in Sasha and headed toward Greston. In the plane was 50 Greal Special Ops troops. Immediately the Greal Intelligence Agency (GIA) had already suspected the Griffincrest involved in the bombings, but they had other unlikely suspects. These Special Operation soldiers were the elite of the Greal army, the best. They seen action all over the world in different situations, now they had to go to Greston. The 50 Special Operations soldiers were lead by Captain Gram, who served recently in the Leocardian war. He was nervous since he never had lead a platoon of Special troops, much less the Special Operations Soldiers themselves.

As the transport plane approached Greston, a message was sent to Greston air control requesting to land at once at a military airfield.

OOC:

1) At least it's better than Iraq's "WMDs". But your point is taken, at least by me.

2) Correct. Unles modified heavily, the Nimitz-calss carrier cannot carry B2s - they are 6 times the weight of the aircraft that the Nimitz normally carries. However, given the 10,000+ km range of the B-2 (that the USAF is prepared to admit to; I'd be surprised if that was all), this does not preclude a raid.

3) Yes, yes it is. Suspecting you is not, but attacking you at this time is. However, so was Hitler.

4) Because nothing like this happened until he resigned from the CA. Besides, perhaps his internal security is better than you thought. He IS a dictator, after all.

5) No comment.

6) Currently, the USA is threatening to bomb Iran over the alleged supply of IED to Iraqi insurgents. Seems like you supplying weapons is also quite enough justification.

7) Yes, he is. IF he's intending to stay within the laws of war.

However, given Griffincrest's operations, you can hardly cry now because someone's attacking you without cause. All actions have consequences.
The Resi Corporation

A single remote-controlled Resicorp PROWLER rolls onto the scene, blending in with the military surroundings, looking very much like something one would expect to see alongside an anti-terrorism team. Naturally, R-News Channel 7 was there reporting, but Chairwoman Feye Larson wanted a closer look.

Behind the controls of the PROWLER, she surveyed the airport from the standing of the anti-terrorism forces. Something like this must be triggered by Greston's resignation from the Corporate Alliance, she figured, there was simply nothing else recent in Greston's history that could provoke this sort of thing.

She wanted to see how this would turn out.

Reason 1) I distribute arms throughout the world, and not only that but soldiers carrying the AR-550 have been killed world wide, thus broadening the availability of the weapon. Honestly, anybody on NS could be toting one of these.
That may be true, but my people hate your people. And the evidence to go to war is admitedly flimsy, so all-out-war is out of the picture for now...
At most I'd expect some weapons inspectors and conspiracy buffs...

Reason 4) You have just had a massive crack down on illegal narcotics. These men are claiming that they work for a drug lord. Why would you instantly assume this is a ruse when you are crushing what has made some of these people rich and powerful?
Well... when everyone has the same lot of rifles, with the same trim, to the detriment of the fireteam's performance (no 'force multipliers'), it tends to point that a higher power is manipulating things.

But yeah, as a note to Greston, take care of your drug problem first.

Reason 6) Even if I am supplying a group in your nation, which is quite possible, would you go to these extents of bombing anohter nation? We'll see when USA invades Iran.
Currently my guys in power are just sitting back in their recliners having a smoke, competing PMCs are trying to pin the blame on their international competition, and I had a bunch of boats recalled.

Oh, right, and my strike* against you isn't because of these actions, but would be used to keep relations with Greston happy that he knows someone is doing soething to figure out concretely (ICly) where it all started.

Not my fault if Greston M-games and doesn't "follow the rules" of espianoge RPs, he is just a puppy at such things...

As for Greston, he should take a deep breather, relax, and realise when it's time to call for help.
Followed by figuring out who and how to call for help without getting rejected.

And Greal, wait for Greston to call for help first, otherwise you just may be considered an enemy of the state...

*Which hasn't happened yet because nobody has acknowledged that I do indeed have boats in the water.

I'd really like for the thread to get back to IC, so:
Greston+Greal+Griffencrest. Simmer. Down. Now.
We're all old enough to know how to RP these things better than this...
So rather than make this an ad-lib "I WIN!111" fest, figure out where this is going...
And more importantly, how it will get there.

I'll be out for the weekend, by the time I get back I want you all agreed on no uncertain terms how much each of you ICly know.
Volzgrad

0800 hours, 10 miles from Grestonian shores

The bright morning sun beat down heavily on the advancing Volzgradien cruisers and troop transports. From his command station high above the ship, Captain Pakovski could already see the Grestonian port through his binoculars. "8 miles out Captain, we'll be at the dock in a few minutes" said the ensign sitting next to him. "Affirmative" Pakovski replied as he reached for the comms unit on the command computer next to him. "This is Captain Alexsander Pakovski to all ships , I want all naval infantry men and sailors in full dress uniform, technical personnel may remain in work attire" he shouted crisply into the phone. "Shouldn't we be looking combat ready?" grumbled the hooded Spetsnaz officer behind him. "Not this time Pavel, we want to make a good impression."

A gust of humid air swept onto Pakovski as he opened the door. The sailors and naval infantry around him were practically blinding him with all their various shining equipment and medals. He himself had donned an elaborate black parade uniform with golden epaulets and badges. Sweat ran down his square jaw as he descended the stairs to get off the ship. Ahead of him, he could already see a Grestonian army officer and various armed soldiers and policemen. "You Volzgradiens aren't very humble now are you" the Grestonian said after saluting Pakovski. "We try to look our best, any ways, having a blind enemy is always an advantage" Pakovski responded smartly as he returned the salute.

(OOC to Greston: Now you tell me what to do, I'm rather clueless as to where my troops will be stationed and the such.)

Oh, and Volz, since that thread started, the target has changed several times, as has the ship's name and cargo manifest. So you can kinda breath.

I suppose now is a bad time to point out that Greston is currently more or less defending BL.

I also found it kinda funny when Greston recently purchased about a million AR-550s...

Message from the Allanean Department of State

We are pleased to hear of this new development in Greston, and would like to say that losing the friendship of the Corporate Alliance is no loss, and acquiring it is no gain. We would further like to offer Greston a bilateral free trade accord, to compensate the nation at least in part for any loss of trade that might have occurred through this.
