Who we are and what we do
'Order of Calatrava', known indigenously as 'La Orden de Calatrava', is an emerging Castillian mercenary company. Its ranks are made-up of locals and foreigners and the company has no political preferences in both recruiting and accepted operations. Our soldiers live for war and are normally ex-special forces soldiers from various nations. The company can rent out any necessary amount of units for any cause, if the price is right. We work with coups, wars of agression, wars of defense, et cetera. Furthermore, the company guarantees discipline and effeciency and the company's mercenaries are some of the best armed and protected soldiers in the world. We guarantee their excellency at the art of war. The price for rent is dependant on a number of factors and there is no set-price. You can offer a price and if it's right we'll accept - if the enemy gives a higher price then we will work for them. It's as simple as that.

Recruitment
Any soldier wanting to join our ranks must have the following:

- At least ten years of military experience. War time experience is preferred.
- Infantry trained. Soldiers will be trained by us for any other job.
- Willingness to fight for pay and die for pay. There is no ideology, except money.

We do not discriminate based on nationality, race or religion.

Communiqué to: Alfegos

The company procures its own assault rifles for its soldiers and we actually produce our own armored fighting vehicles or procure them from MecániCas. However, the men are welcome to join the company. It's hard to guarantee a decrease in percentage of a 'price' given that there is no set price. The higher bidder will always win.

Well... Alfegos sees your point, and as a result would ask for a 15% reduction in the final price if we win the bid.

'La Orden de Calatrava' was an appealing choice for a handful of Franberrians. Yes, a mere handful, but there were billions in Franberry, so a handful probably had its weight for the much smaller nation, and henceforth, smaller Orden de Calatrava. A mere two thousand former soldiers made their way over the southern border to the lands of Castilla y Belmonte.

Mercenaries never had a prominent role in Franberrian history, nor culture, which explains the small number of men that voyaged south, they had no doubts, however, that the Castillans would welcome anyone with open arms. The Franberrian sate, on the other hand, did not particularly care to see these men leave the country. As for the issue of their loyalty, this was a matter on which both the soldiers and the state agreed, even if no contact had ever taken place between them, the soldiers, albeit nearly mercenaries, nearly men with no flag to call their own, would most likely desist from attacking Franberrians.

What do these men come equipped with?

The Doomani were no stranger to war, and those that took it upon themselves to dedicate their lives to the conduct of war were large in number within the Imperium. Of the men discharged from the Exercitus on a yearly basis, thirty-percent of them go on to serve in mercenary companies on average, with others either fully retiring or enlisting in one of the many armed chapters of Manus Dei. In Doomanum, this is not looked down upon: making war is the greatest skill these men have, and thus it is only fair that they be compensated fairly for this. It is said that the Doomani fight for three things: God, Imperium, and the Almighty Denarius. In this case, those boarding flights for Castilla for the purpose of joining Ordo Calatravus, as it is called in Doomanum, they fight for the later.

While one would expect such a culture to produce large amounts of volunteers for the order, this simply is not so: in Doomanum alone mercenaries are in high demand by corporations and prominent nobles, thus they need not look far for work. Whole mercenary legions are fielded by the various megacorporations, and other independent mercenary legions offer themselves out to hire. All of these pay extremely well to a newly discharged veteran of the Exercitus, whose elite status is unquestioned among military personnel throughout the world.

Those five-thousand that make the journy to Castilla are of a slightly different sort: more concerned with the actual business of killing then making money. They will make fierce, loyal servants to the order. All are combat veterans, most seeing action in Kahanistan or against the Freeks, and even a few veterans of the latest Vizionarian War. They have known nothing but military life, and so there will be no problems adjusting.

To 'La Orden de Calatrava',

We wish to hire out five banderas worth of mercenaries from this mercenary corporation. They will be protecting the Grestonians coast and will be in cooperation with numerous other mercenary groups. We will pay 2,000 USDs per mercenary and if you can use APCs or tanks, we pay 10,000 USDs per tank/APC. We hope you consider or offer. This (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=545026) is where they will be asigned if you accept, which we hoppe you do.

Re: Mercenary Procurement

We're glad that you have decided to look into the Order. In regards to cost, a few things have to be worked out first. First, for how much time will the five banderas operate for? Mercenaries are expensive given that normally ex-soldiers join mercenary companies for higher payments. Given the lack of war boot in defense operations then they will expect higher payment. Given that the company is new then new soldiers may expect lower payment, but even then a mercenary of the Order will normally require at least $100 per hour of job - 56 hour weeks, of course. So, any price 'per soldier' should be based on those figures.

The equipment is brought by the mercenaries, and they normally work with armored personnel vehicles. What type of enemies may they operate against in case of war? That will influence what kind of equipment is brought.

We await your responses with open ears!

Care to elaborate?

It's not entirely worked out - I guess it will be as the situation requires. They use a lot of vehicles produced by their own defense company, but I haven't actually written any of them out. In regards to their small-arms they probably use a hodge-podge of different weapons, although in the same caliber (probably 5.56mm and 7.62mm since most weapons on NS can be calibrized for those two calibers).

Griffincrest would like to hire 1º Bandera to protect supply lines in hostile environments. These men will be hired yearly. Please state the cost.

Re: Procurement

1º Bandera has been officially forewarned of possible deployment. Banderas do twenty-four month deployments, at maximum (this should be taken into consideration). Cost is completely dependent on your nation and on length of deployment. Like we told another customer, a standard price can be set at $100 an hour for 8-hours a day, 7-days a week. These include rest and refit weeks (should be two weeks per year). That, of course, is the money required to pay the men. The company extracts a profit, so that price can easily be increased to an average of $200 per man. Therefore, if 1,000 men are hired for a year (365 days), multiplied by the amount paid daily (8x100) for all men (x1000 = 800000), we get a price of $292 million for the contract. This can rise to around $350 million a year for other associated costs.

We hope to hear from you,

The Order

Re: Procurement

It's a deal then. $350 million per year. 1º Bandera will work for your government at that rate, and will consequently return home after twelve months of active service. In the last month of service we will give an option to extend the contract for another year. You can consider 1º Bandera in your service.

Thank you,

The Order

Many Allaneans simply shrugged when hearing of the Order of Calatrava. But, with the new peaceful policies of the Kazansky Adminsitration, many of them realized that they would not be able to participate in real combat if they joined the Army – and there were many Allaneans who actually wanted to participate in real combat, to have a job where they shoot people and were shot at. And when Allanea's edition of 'Soldier of Fortune' announced that Doomani were joining the new mercenary company, thousands of Allaneans flocked in to enlist (the $100 per hour wages helped, too).

In total, precisely 6,573 applications were sent to the company, and although many would likely be denied, it was likely that the Order would soon increase its numbers.

To 'La Orden de Calatrava',

We will not pay $100 per hour to men who will be sitting on their asses most of the time. We will pay $300 million per year which is a pretty good deal for they will only be sitting down most of the time. Now that there is more banderas we wish to hire out 9 banderas of men. They will usually be fighting under trained morons or small groups of moderately well trained soldiers. Turrets or larger guns should be asigned to some of the men and the others just patrolling with regular small arms. Any one asigned to APCs or tanks will be payed $320 million a year.

We await you answer.
