LEX SALISBURGIUS REGNUM XXVII (MT, Monetary Rewards Inside)

Cotenshire
31-10-2007, 01:51
The burden of King William V’s immortality rested on him alone, yet his sojourn in his earthly vessel, and that it would one day come to an end, was indeed the burden of all his subjects. This ponderous conclusion increasingly gripped his mind as the year drew on, until the King could no longer defer judgment on such a contentious issue.

He wrote to the Royal Post at Bergenwald. A few days later, a Royal Courier yielded a response from one of His Majesty’s chief constables. It revealed that, nearly a month prior to the writing of the letter, the King’s exiled brother, Archibald, inexplicably vanished.

The King was seized by a spasm of delirious terror. He ordered envoys to be sent out requesting the whereabouts and condition of every member of even the most remote branches of the Royal Family. It was then that the King wrote the document below, and sent copies to every foreign affairs department on record.

His Majesty, William V Salisbury, by the Grace of God King of Cotenshire, Lotharnshire, and Ajaelland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Upper Lotharingia, Nieuw Vlaanderen, Fejeszekja, and Gothtenbury, Marquess of Frankenshire, Nikolitzanburgh, Hautavano, and Normagne, Earl of Wolvershaw, Margrave of Oranje, Zagovo, Jadwiga, Bonusiklos, Bacsalmas, Hatshamolk, and Ysbrechterdam, and Count of Franconton, Songailangrad, Svitrigailangrad, and Toledo, is the harbinger of most grievous news.

It is on this night, the Caryne of October, that His Majesty has discovered a villainous plot to immerse the Salisburgic Dominion into a state of sedition. The murderous fiend Archibald has been released from his dungeon by the treacherous constable Howard of Adlebury, whose mind was in a probable condition of duress.

His Majesty does not fear for his own crown, as his right to the throne of the Dominion is uncontested even by the likes of such fraudulent reptiles as Archibald. However, His Majesty is likely in the last couple decades of his life, and poisonous tablet in his wine can easily be attributed to the retirement of his restless heart.

It is in the succession of His Majesty’s reign that Archibald claims to have a legitimate stake, how ever frail such pretensions may appear under learned legal scrutiny. It is concerns of the usurping of the Crown Prince’s rights, and therefore of the security of the livelihoods of His Majesty’s subjects, that bring His Majesty to set forth this appeal.

Let it then be explicitly stated herein that, due to the preceding rulings of the Lex Salica by which all claims of due inheritance are judged, that all titles and property not otherwise allocated be, on the death of the current sovereign of the Salisburgic Dominion, him being King William V Salisbury, passed to His Highness, Prince Peter Humphrey Canicarus Salisbury, or, his life failing, to His Highness, Prince Leopold Rolland Alfred Salisbury, under no contention of perceived rights. This Most Holy Judgment, which is indeed favoured by the Divine Providence, has been derived from the lawful precedents of the realm. No other party may lawfully support any candidate for any of the aforementioned offices other than Prince Peter Humphrey Canicarus Salisbury, or, if deceased, Prince Leopold Rolland Alfred Salisbury.

As such it always has been, and as such it always shall be.

Be it known that any constituent fief of the Salisburgic Dominion that completely adheres to the above terms shall receive, upon notice of the observance of said terms, an amount no less than £100,000, and, upon attendance at the coronation of the Crown Prince, another £235,000.

Also be it known that any foreign state that completely adheres to the above terms and agrees not to harbour the violent terrorist Archibald, shall receive no less than £115 billion, and, upon the coronation of the Crown Prince, a further amount not to be less than £525 billion.

Should any signatory party be, at the time of the Coronation of the Crown Prince, no longer in observance of the LEX SALISBURGIUS REGNUM XXVII, all benefits shall be rescinded and proper action will be taken to ensure to integrity of the realm.

Signed,
I, the King

From the Desk of Prince Barzahl Redmark II
Empress Erika Redmark was going to sign the document, however she soon realized that none of Vantania's culture had come into Cotenshire. Perhaps if there was a Vantanian corporation in Cotenshire, most helpfully Buy & Sell Inc, she would be willing to sign.

The letter from the Prince irritated William V in that it seemed obvious the Empress was trying to take advantage of the King's most noble concern for his dynastic succession. However, the King could concede on this issue because he felt it would be a greater humiliation to further endanger his son’s inheritance than it would be to give in to an unscrupulous monarch. The lords were also becoming increasingly restless with the defensive measures the King was utilizing to undermine Archibald, so some progress would undoubtedly bring relief.

To Prince Barzahl Redmark II,

In exchange for your signature on the LEX SALISBURGIUS XXVII, and therefore your observance of it, His Majesty has agreed to subsidize a Vantanian corporate establishment in the Dominion. It is to His Majesty’s great delight that you have agreed to side with order and legality in its battle against chaos and criminality. May this pact lead to the vile Archibald’s downfall.

The location of your corporate establishment is completely up to the your or the corporation’s discretion. It would be advisable to consult first with the local guilds of the city you choose in order to avoid unnecessary quarrels.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Jan Sebastien, Lord Chancellor

The Union of Police Stations believe in national soverignty, however, they are quite upset about the "pompus langauge" being used, as well as the ridiciously long title being used for one power that is signing the accord. "What sort of idiot would call themselves 'Holder of Title'?" they ask themselves.

That being said, the UPS has never actually seen a feudalistic society, so they became quite interested...

Hey Will.

We are a bit confused on how the actual document is before we sign it, so let us get a bit of clarifiying.

You want to stop some two-bit "reptile/fiend" hybrid who happens to be your brother known as Archibald. You want to stop him from either forming an indepedent nation or taking over your nation.

In return, for our promise to support you in hunting down this non-human rogue, without, you know, doing anything other than screaming at the top of our lungs, "We support you, woo-hoo!", you will give us £115 billion? And even more money in the future?

If so, we will therefore sign such a document. If not, please reply back so that we know what to do.

In order to speed up acceptance of the document and thereby get the money needed...please cut out the below signature and paste it on the document.

The Republic of SilentScope003, led by the Union of Police Station

P.S.: Please do not try to scam the Republic of SilentScope003 by promising to pay but really just forcing our government to pay hidden fees to 'access' the money, but really never accessing the money, while you keep all the 'access' fees in question and make a killing. We already fell for that last week, so please show mercy!

To the Appropriate Minister of the Union of Police Stations,

Your enthusiastic support for the LEX SALISBURGIUS REGNUM XXVII has filled His Majesty with such lusciously jovial mirth that there can certainly be no somber spirits around his royal personage tonight. I am also quite glad to see that his proclamation is continuing to gain foreign support of the right kind, that is, support from those like you who believe in upholding the law and in ordered society.

Know that there is nothing fraudulent about the King’s promise of £115 billion. You are correct in that you do not have to do anything other than sign this treaty to receive the payment, although know that should you renege your promise later, you will not receive the future payment.

His Majesty, in his most infinitesimal generosity, is issuing these rewards to combat the tactics of that malicious villain, Archibald. We believe the traitor to be engaging in clandestine operations in which he is paying other governments in return for their support against His Majesty’s lawful successor. It is His Majesty’s ingenious strategy, to counter Archibald’s foul bribes with more valuable gifts, that is laid out in this charter.

As said before, your agreement has made His Majesty absolutely gay. I can not simply cut your signature off of the document you sent to me and attach it to the charter, however, because that would not be a legally binding endorsement. I must stress that legality is the paramount aim in this endeavour. If you truly concur with the terms of the LEX SALISBURGIUS REGNUM XXVII, then I can send you the document myself. There is also the option, if your government is technologically advanced enough and can afford the equipment, of having a copy of the document faxed to you, and then you will apply your signature and fax the document back.

Before I conclude this piece of correspondence, I keep noticing that you have spelled His Majesty’s name as ‘Will,’ and are probably worrying yourself that it might come across as disgraceful towards His Majesty. Know that His Majesty will forgive you, and I can personally relate to your mistake. Indeed, after writing for a while, I approach the end of a line only to have my pen run out of ink. After I have searched my desk and found an ink well, I return to the paper thinking that I have already completed the line and move on to the next. I am sure this is what has happened in your case, so know that I completely understand and there is no offence taken.

[OOC: lol, brilliant ending to the last post.]

To King William V Sallisbury,

The alliance will of course endorse your law and support the prince's succesion. However, might you present us with a formal accusation of Archibald, as without this, we cannot rightfully exile him from our lands, unless he tries to spread propaganda for his succesion as King. Would this be sufficient to recieve the offered reward?

Signed,
Era Andrew Wade

To the Most Honourable Mr. Wade,

I thank you, on behalf of both myself and the King, for your sympathies with our struggle against Archibald. As to his crimes, they are numerous and despicable. At the death of William IV, many of the King’s tenants supported Archibald as King instead of the throne’s rightful resident, William V. Archibald has since committed the crime of breaking out of a Royal Prison without the King’s consent. Archibald is a violent terrorist who seeks to subvert the order and lawfulness of Christian civilisation.

To receive the reward, all that is required of signatories is that they abide by the terms of the charter that apply to them, which means that they shall not provide any assistance whatsoever to Archibald that may aid him in taking the throne from its rightful owner. His Majesty would also be much obliged to you should you work towards finding Archibald or informing us of any of his activities known to you. These actions are not required by those who accede to the charter, though.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Jan Sebastien, Lord Chancellor

To the Most Honourable Mr. Wade,

I can not stress enough the greatness of your signing of this charter. It shall help bring new stability to the realm, and therefore it shall work towards the prosperity of both its people and its King. His Majesty is greatly indebted to you, and has told me to tell you that, if there ever is something you need of His Majesty, he will certainly oblige in assisting you.

May our two states grow closer together and help bring harmony to this world besieged by discord.

Signed,
The Rt Hon. Jan Sebastien, Lord Chancellor

To the Appropriate Official at the Union of Police Stations,

His Majesty and I harbour the deepest gratitude for your continued promotion of the rightful heir to His Majesty’s throne. However, I am hesitant to allow ‘The Union of Police Stations’ to be a signatory in this pact. It makes legal matters much easier if there is an individual or group of individuals who sign this pact. I would appreciate it if either the head of this body or some or all of its members would provide signatures for this charter. If this is in any way disagreeable, please let me know, and I will accept the signature of ‘The Union of Police Stations.’ However, you must understand that our collective interests would be harmed should legal issues arise due to the lack of a signature from an identifiable member of your government.

The Rt Hon. Jan Sebastien, Lord Chancellor
