OOC I: I picked Greenland for a reason, you know, and not just because I was running out of points...sweet, sweet Uranium!

Uranium Veins Confirmed; Barronian Government Opens Export Bidding

A large deposit of Uraninite, more commonly known as pitchblende was confirmed in the mid-south of the Barronian province of Kalaallit Nunaat, a government spokeswoman has announced.

In a move that looks set to make Barronia a leading player in the rare export market, the government has said that it will look to exporting up to 75% of the found ore, and it's purified product.

An immediate benefactor will be Barronia's Mutual Defence Alliance Partner, Dontgonearthere, who will be the immediate beneficiary of 500 tonnes of the substance.

Coupled with lead, zinc and cryolite exports from the rich mine on the north-eastern coasts, the Barronian Government is looking for companies to invest in the construction of a refining plant, both for civilian (power plant) and military (weapons-grade centrifuging) purposes. Due to Barronia's relatively-protected economy, all applicants will be required to submit in writing to Aurora Fisher, Trade Secretariat, c/o Department of Trade, Infrastructure and Cartography, Godthab, KN-GO-93B.

OOC II: Feel free to have a company apply for investment - especially those of you after nuclear weaponry! Oh, and Dontgonearthere - our government tends to look after...beneficial friends. As you're much bigger than us, it'd work in our favour to keep you happy, methinks.

Oil Prospecting Underway as Part of Boost to Economy; Preliminary Scans "Looking Good"

The government yesterday commissioned a detailed inspection of land on the eastern coast of the Kalaallut Nunaat Province, a spokesman has revealed.

Preliminary scans have shown rock formations and strata similar to that of other oilfields. Whilst the exact amount isn't known, it is expected that the reserves, if proven to exist, would be able to produce up to a half-million barrels per day.

Construction Begins on Provincial Road Networks; New Fleet of Buses Arrive for Barronian Imperial Group

A new fleet of buses working on Hydride-Compound/Li-Ion Battery combinations has arrived in Barronia in time for the first of the road networks and cities to be opened.

The new drive by the DfT to improve public transport links in a clean way has been driven forward by many factors, not all environmental. The danger of frozen fuel in the winter was a major concern to the transport company, and as a result, renewable, reliable fuel was decided upon. Eventually, designs created by Joakim Oscarsson, winner of the (RL) Bus 2010 design awards of 2006. The design for bus stops and buses are viewable here (http://www.joakimoscarsson.com/project/r_o_n/index.htm). Featuring a very scandinavian design, the buses can be retrofitted with solar panels (not much use in a land where in the winter, sunlight is limited to 4 hours/day), and other parts.

The Government has also announced that it is looking for companies to submit applications for intercity bus designs. The successful company can look forward to preference for other transportation contracts, such as those within Magistrative Transport, the department dealing with the transport of Ministers and influential visitors to the country.

OOC III: Whilst that bus and stop was designed for a japanese setting, it was just such an awesome design that I had to use it. Permission was granted by Mr Oscarsson (http://www.joakimoscarsson.com), which comes with many thanks from me. Again, that's a free open invitation to apply, otherwise I'll just have to make up my own...I don't wanna do that. 'Cause I'm lazy. Concept buses welcome - encouraged, in fact.
