Your military will be about 5% or so (a little less for some, a little more for those who don't mind having no money) of your population. This will be the army, navy and air force combined.

The army will take up about 80% of that, as it needs the most numbers. About 60% of the army itself will be logistical troops - truck drivers, armourers, quartermasters, chefs, repair crews, etc. I know this seems a lot, but trust me when I say that it's the norm.

I think it's around 18 ground crew per pilot in the air, and navy isn't really my field.

Anyway, that's some basics. Choose a real-life assault rifle and give it to all your guys, choose a main battle tank, and never use nuclear weapons. That's it.

Air-ground-sea allotments of troops are of the nation's choosng.

Roughly half to nine-tenths of your military are logistics.
(Greater the amount, the better you aer at long distance operations overseas)

Ships need shipyards, aircraft need airports. Such structures need people to keep them running. Without that, it won't matter how many people you throw into maintaining a plane/ship.

Use stuff you understand, that or you are absolutely certain works and that nobody will ever be crazy enough to question whether it works or why.

More eloquent use of 'tactics' and battlefield tricks generally will overrule the use of better weapons.

Nothing is completely invisable, not even black holes.
Nothing is indestructable, also including black holes.
Nothing is all seeing, nothing on NS is all powerful (Not even godmodding UHBTs that fly

Limit of 3 smilies per month before getting 'branded'.
(Not really, just a courtesy thing)

Nukes and Ignore cannons are the biggest killers of good RPs. (as is General Apathy -he was promoted last year from simply being 'Apathy')

Oh, right weapons...

Now this has nothing to do with the thread, but how would you go about destroying a black hole?

Back on topic. I suggest you go to one of the many storefronts and purchase a starter package. Do not spend too much. I repeat. Do not spend your entire military budget buying stuff... nor even most of it.

The less troops you have, the better they will be in terms of money per soldier. You'll have more money to spend on them for training and weapons.

I was reffering to black holes in the senase of objects that, for one stated reason or another, they bend or absorb all energy/matter around them in ways usually not feasable.

If black holes were infinite, then it would be safe to assume the universe will, eventually, be covered with them. And I wouldn't sleep too well with that prospect. (Plus such a monstrosity wouldn't conform with conservation of energy if it did, it would, ultamately, have to go subcritical mass eventually and self-destruct, in theory at least, I'd leave the practice to those who RP in FT and utilize black hole type weapons)

As stated earlier, back on topic:
'NS grade' weapons are designed by other player nations, and are divided into tech classes' (MT, PMT, and FT mostly).

When dealing with NS weapons, it is important to note the tech level it was meant for.

If an NS weapon looks too good to be true, it most likely is, don't buy them.
If how they work doesn't make sense, or appears to break the laws of physics more than usual, avoid it.

The reason being, that if just looking at it either makes your mouth water or eyes bleed, imagine what your enemies would think when you start using it. Most likely resaulting in cries of 'no fair' and rapid escalation of hostilities both ICly and OOCly.

Treat armored and stealth vehicles as if they could be destroyed/detected at any moment no matter what you do.
^That bit comes from experiance on these forums -first 7 threads I was on beat that knowledge into me.
Hence why I stated that nothing, absolutely nothing, regardless of storefront claims, is undetectable/indestructable.

RL weapons are pretty straighforward, they'll generally accomplsh what they claim, although their stat blocks are almost never as impressive as the NS grade stuff.

Oh, and you don't have to buy RL stuff from storefronts, but that doesn't mean start out with cutting edge RL stuff either. Assign a value to each RL weapon you use (normally already listed, or found on storefronts attempting to flesh out their lineup).

Although it is nice to bump a front by buying RL stuff from them.

What are Ignore Cannons?

They basically end a n00b war...Example:

Noob: "1,000,000,000 d00dz r cuming!! Lulz"

You: "Ignore cannonedz0r"

Now you 'ignored' that fr00b!

I do believe that your numbers are very wrong.

You should have under 2% of your population in the Air Force/Ground Force/Sea Force combined including logistical personnel, they are the maintennance crew and transport food, water and ammo to your troops.

You may have any split you want but keep in mind the following:

1. About half of the men in your ground forces will be logistical personnel.
2. About two thirds of the men assigned to your sea forces will be logisitical personnel on land.
3. About three quarters of the men assigned to your air force will be logistical personnel.

Keep in mind your military budget which can be provided if you're not in one of the feeder regions here (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com) or here (http://nsdossier.texasregion.net) if you are in a feeder region. To find out how much you're spending per soldier, divide your military budget by the population in your armed forces. If it is less than say 75,000 your military isn't very modern and I recommend lowering the population in your armed forces.
