The Destruction of Society {Modern, Open}

Terrorists in ski masks and camo rode in jeeps, zipping to the capital of Hayord. People saw the guns, which were AK-47's, and called the police. The police then notified Homeland Security. But by then, it was too late.

Hundreds of terrorists, numbers 504 total, had surrounded the capitol building and home of Jursk, Hayord's leader. Jursk looked out the window, and quickly made a video, which was broad casted onto the Internet and national TV, all live.

Jursk cleared his throat. He looked into the camera lens solemnly. He began quietly.

"People Hayord, it saddens me that this day has come. Terrorists wish to upset the great Communist Empire we have built, so very hard, and in place, establish their own dictatorship.

"I plead with you, and all nations of the world, to come to our aid. This will be our finest hour; the hour where our nation goes crumbling into the ground or becomes all the more powerful.

"To my citizens whom I love: Please, show these terrorists that you wish to keep this government we have now. When they begin to fight, fight them. With our troops, bring them down.

"To other nations: Send us troops. Send us weapons. Send us money. Fight these terrorists. Done any or all, and we will be in your debt forever."

Gunshots were heard. Screams, explosions. The camera showed static for a couple seconds, then the feed came back.

"It has begun. God bless."

We are sad to see another nation attacked by indescribably ignorant terrorism.

We are fully willing to aid your nation, in the form of logistical aid, men, and humanitarian aid in the form of doctors and healthcare if necessary. All we require is, if you have any, information on the terrorists - approximate number, organization (e.g. do they show any indication of tactics?), and weaponry.

We wish you all the best.

It was eleven thirty five. The terrorists had taken half of the bottom floor, and Jursk was on the third floor. He rushed to the roof, and a gunship was there, surrounded by two Black Hawks. He boarded the gunship, and they took off. They went the opposite way of the airstrip, to trick the terrorists. Then, at eleven fifty, they suddenly swung around and flew full force to the airstrip. They touched down and Jursk boarded the planes. He waited for them to get off the ground.

-----

The terrorists had made a video for themselves.

It began with a ski-masked terrorist who was looking, menacingly, into the camera.

"We have one wish: to control and reform the government. Until then, people will die. We don't mean die, with a gun shot. We mean die with torture. We will kill those whom we are doing this for.

"We want Jursk. We want the governmental control.

"Give us this, and people will live. No one will die."

Jursk had a memo sent to all nations of the world.

To: All nations of the world
From: Jursk, ruler of Hayord

Hello, all nations. I wish to begin by saying thank you for reading this. With that said, hear my cry of plea.

Terrorists have killed many of my people, and have set off gas bombs in commerce and business areas. My people die horribly, my beloved nation falling to the ground.

Send aid. People. Weapons. I thank those who already are.

The terrorists use machine guns, sniper rifles, explosives, suicidal destruction, gas, chemical, and torture. These are terrorists who will do anything to completely oppress my people.

Help us please,
Jursk

After Jursk was aboard, the V-22 Osprey (http://photos.somd.com/data/554/medium/100_1110.jpg) lifted off. A tall man with long, brown hair walked up to Jursk. "Greetings," he said. "I am Colonel Athon. We are now airborne, and in route to the Rohan. Our fighters will provide air protection, and they have reported no signs of enemy action in the skies." He turned to face the pilot, who made a kind of hand-signal. "Our ETA to the ship is 30 minutes," he said after turning back to face Jursk. "Is there anything special we should prepare for you upon arrival? Would you like food and privacy, or to go straight to the bridge?"

Military aid is on offer for your nation. However, for now we advise one thing. My military advisors agree that if your forces retreat now, flee over the border or onto our ships (which we shall provide if needed) they can regroup and join with our forces, and we can launch a counter-attack.

Past experience of our armed forces says that impromptu governments fall quickly. This way we can have more time to plan, and more time for forces to arrive.

Either way, our military is yours. We will relieve your nation as best we can.

The terrorists now had the whole first floor, and were setting up explosives. For what purpose, everyone believed to bring down the Governmental Building. After the explosives were set, they did a far worse thing.

They took captives and set them on the bottom floor. Civilians and troops alike who had been taken hostage.

They left the governmental staff, families, and hostages in the building. Boom.

The building fell, and all inside died.

Field Marshal Bennett pored over the report now in front of him, frowning. "Friggin' terrorists. Yes, Mr President, I can do this. I'll need leeway to release as many RD divisions as I need, and I want your assurance and that of Congress that I will have continuing support in Hayord."
"You'll get it. I'll draft a message now. How many will you send first up?"
"32nd and 10th, I think. They're the most combat ready. I'll get things organized."
"Good, good. I know they're communists, but, well, the news from the RCR is not pleasant."

The Federal Republic of Hamilay will aid the Republic of Hayord against this threat. As the recent founder of the International Anti-Terrorism Coalition, Hamilay now feels an even greater need to oppose terrorism around the world. The 32nd and 10th Airborne Rapid Deployment Divisions are now en route to Hayord over the next day, with further reinforcements to come. We request a suitable landing site for IL-76 transport aircraft is designated for the Hamilayan divisions.

The military command of Hamilay implores the Hayordian government not to retreat to their borders. Although the Republic does not have firsthand knowledge of the situation, a continuing Hayordian presence in the capital will allow Hamilayan and foreign aid to filter in much more easily, and a regular army fighting terrorists in guerilla warfare is putting itself on equal terms with said disorganized paramilitary group, negating any advantage from vehicles or aircraft.

The first Zenith attack and Highwind transport helicopters filled with light infantry of the 32nd and 10th began to lift off from the military air field at Bastion. The helicopter Air Assault brigades were the first line of the Rapid Deployment divisions, and would ensure the security of wherever the Hayordians found for the heavy planes to land. The IL-76 Candids followed a few hours later, carrying the division's heavy equipment, which, being prepared for rapid deployment, was not much, but still included a reasonable inventory of armoured fighting vehicles and light artillery.

The arrival of the Aleardian armed forces wouldnt be a suprise one, it didnt need to be. A locally placed aircraft carrier drifted nine miles from the coastline with a full escort fleet. Furthermore, a sortie of planes flew into the country carrying ground troops, and in the event of war permission to land was assumed to have been given. They landed on a relatively level piece of land some thirty miles from the capital.

The element of suprise instead would come from the Aleardian Task Force (ATF). They would strike various strategic places within the capital and try and gain a foothold. The small but extremely well skilled units were the best soldiers hand picked by the sergeants to go through the brutal training processes. When, or even if they didnt, the insurgents moved out to combat the incoming army, they would strike at whoever was left, cutting off the supply to the force from the capital and securing supplies that may be of use to the main battlegroup.

Six transport helicoptors came in at intervals and descended onto rooftops, hovering just about the roof surface for quick take off again. "TF-117 landed. P4 secure."

The small force began to take up positions on the rooftop, looking over the streets, and to move down through the building and into the street. It was understood a short distance from this building was a telecommunications centre, but they had little information.

The terrorists have called in extra forces, and civilians fight with them, so the strength of the terrorists is unknown. However, it should be relatively easy if you plan your attacks right.

A group of six terrorists, all carrying 20 pounds of C4, which was stolen, each, were in the sewers of the capitol of Hayord, and were planting 2 pounds of bombs every 20 feet.

They planted C4 under the main highway, which led into and out of the city, enough to bring down roughly 1/4 of a mile.

They also planted bombs under neighborhoods, enough to bring out roughly 2,000 homes.

Bombs were also placed under power generators.

BOOM

The city was engulfed in blood, screams, death, pain, agony, and darkness.

ATF troopers at ground level were knocked back by the explosion, but nothing more than grazed by their impact with the ground. "What the fuck was that" came from one man. For safety, the rest of the men left the building, but now they were out in the open. Sitting ducks for enemy sniper fire, or ambush. What now? What were the terrorists doing?

The sergeant of the group, Mitchell Sawyer, indicated to go down the road away from the debris. They took up lines across each side of the street, crouching and moving quickly. At each junction they checked up and down for any hostiles, and moved on. "Command. Orders needed. Evacuating area, enemy attack. No hostiles."

The radio came into life within a few seconds. "Take up position. RV with TF-112. Approx half a mile south." Mitchell sighed and looking at his watch compass ordered his men to take a right. This was far too dangerous a place for the ATF to work in. They worked on suprise, but without meaning to the enemy had disrupted this. They would have to hold out until the main battlegroup arrived.
Hayord
25-06-2007, 22:47
A group of ten terrorists were about a fifth of the mile where the troops from Aleard were (OOC: the people from above heh), and spotted them walking away from them. The leader, simply known as X, ordered 3 men into the alleyway behind the buildings on to left, 3 for the alleyway behind the buildings on the right, and him and 3 others were to stay in the shadows.

They approached the enemy troops until they were about 20 yards away. When that happened, the terrorists opened fire.

-----

A sniper squad, which included 3 spotters and 3 snipers, were situated a top a mini-skyscraper, to scout out for enemies. They saw four men, all in ski masks, with Colt hand guns, approaching the Alreardian troops from the front. The troops had turned around in the gun fight, however, and so it was now the behind they were approaching from. They stuck to the shadows and fired.

OOC: Its NS. Dont worry. Lol.

Mitchell turned quick on his heel, gun raised, and rattled off a few rounds. Whether they hit or not did not matter, as bullets began to rain down from above. They had walked straight into this one. Men fell around him, but his best soldiers bar one stood standing, running. Now outnumbered, Mitchell radioed in quickly, as they retreated from the killing tunnel. "Under attack. Men down."

They were surrounded and well and truly outnumbered now, so the remaining men dropped their weapons to the ground and raised their hands. "We surrender!"

Sometimes, defeat was the best option, since instead of dying with honour they could now perhaps live to fight another day. Mitchells big fear now was torture, but his men shouldnt crack. Training taught them to endure it, but now was the real test.

The main battlegroup, under Commander Roberts, was kept back by supply problems. This whole war so far seemed to be a cock up. Fuel had not been bought in to supply the tanks and the transport. They would be delayed for some time to come. The ATF forces had not much time left before they ran low on supplies themselves.

In the Great Hall, King Tirus met with the commander of his Navy, Grand Admiral Jacob Hyzy. "Admiral," the King began. "What news from Hayord?" "Not good, my lord," replied Hyzy. "Terrorists have begun an all-out offensive against the people in the country. Allied nations are sending troops to try to restore order. The current leader of Hayord, Jursk, is safely aboard the Rohan. Admiral Santon has requested further orders." Tirus turned his head in thought. "Should we send troops as well?" he asked. "We cannot," replied Bellofes, one of the King's advisors. "Our army is too small to be of much use. All we can afford to do is provide Naval support." He turned to Hyzy, "What do you suggest, Admiral?" "Nothing more at this time," Hyzy replied. "However, perhaps we could send two of the new battleships to raid enemy positions along the shoreline. That should demoralize and confuse the terrorists enough for Allied forces to make some headway." "Very well," agreed Tirus. "Send the ships. Place them under Santon's command for the time being." "Yes, my lord," replied Hyzy. With a bow, he turned and left the hall to send the orders...

The soldiers looked about them, before taking the terrorists weapons and scouring the area. They headed back to their capture point, to call for air lifts, and help the living. Their unit had been severely decreased in number, and it was unlikely that they would be useful in the field without reinforcement. They radioed in their situation.

The main battlegroup was not far away, coming at the city from two points. Now the ATF was well and truly rumbled, fighters flew fully armed over the city as part of shock and awe tactics, the second stage of Aleardian guerilla warfare. They flew low and fast so bringing them down was near impossible, and so that people on the ground were, quite frankly, scared shitless. The Aleardian artillery divisions were placed, ready to bombard any locations that needed their attention.

Next stage, the main offensive, would begin shortly. The ATF began to settle down into support roles, decreasing their offensive actions and preparing to be used as goal getters, doing what a large unit couldnt do effectively. However, for now, one last thing needed to be done.

If they could take out the telecommunications to all of the city, if not a large part, then communication between the terrorists would be harder. They had spotted a number of points where this would be possible, and a force was sent with explosives to destroy each. The next day of combat would be telling.

Captain Blake looked out the door of the Zenith at the rooftops proceeding rapidly below. He hated air assault operations in the choppers. Too bumpy. Suddenly, he and his squad members were blinded by numerous flashes of light and explosions from below, and the aircraft shook, toppling to the right before it regained a level flight path. That was the second reason he hated helicopters. The craft began to descend further, and the designated runway was beneath them. He saw the pilot in the cockpit jam down hard on the button on his joystick, and a line of tracers from the gunship's cannon transfixed the terrorists in the open below, kicking up dust and debris.

"Let's go, let's go, let's go!" yelled the Captain. His five companions in the aircraft duly complied, tossing out ropes as the helicopter jolted to a stop above the landing zone. The Hamilayan soldiers rappelled down, as did others in half a dozen identical helicopters, landing on the runway and immediately running for cover through scattered bursts of Kalashnikov fire. Blake bit off a curse as the man beside him jerked back with a shriek, throwing himself to the ground and blindly firing half a clip from his SCAR in the direction of the few moving masked shapes. More bullets zipped by, but the muzzle flashes stopped once a gunship, having dropped its passengers, turned and fired a salvo of high-explosive rockets in their direction, most sailing by and impacting on the buildings behind. Two UD-48 Highwind transports now appeared from the same direction as the advance force had arrived, dropping onto the runway, ignoring the rounds which inevitably hit them, and divulged two infantry fighting vehicles. In a few minutes the armoured bodies of the Blitz IFVs had created a relatively safe zone for the Hamilayans to shelter, and a command post was established, with more men rappelling down onto the runway. Now taking cover behind the closest wall, Blake motioned to a nearby soldier.

"Corporal. Get Williams, Faulkner and Chiang over here. We're going to clear the ATC. In a few hours the first Candids will be here, and they'll want somewhere to set up. Move it!"
Hayord
26-06-2007, 17:13
The terrorist leader, the one who controlled all terrorists, was in a neighborhood that had been blocked off at three points in all entrances and exits. Anti-aircraft rocket launches had been stolen, but only two. Machine gun nests were located in each corner of the neighborhood. Anyone who drifted close was destroyed.

The terrorist leader had a name, and it simply was "Truth". Truth ordered twenty soldiers to each telecommunications center to destroy them, to hopefully confuse their enemy. They all had a series of walkie-talkies and stolen satellite phones.

Truth himself was an experienced but retired general of Hayord. That was true, except for the retired part. When he revealed his face, he knew many would be sad and surprised, and he wanted to use the confusion to quickly attack.

OOC: Im assuming there are three communications targets. Ill change this if you wish.

Deceipt was sometimes a tactic in war that couldnt even be matched by ten thousand armies, and now would come the proof.

The ATF units made their way towards their respective targets, as they normally would, filing up against walls down streets, keeping to cover as best they could, with their objectives in mind. All this time, six artillery pieces fired at the telecommunications centres. The ATF knew it was happening, and intentionally paced themselves to make sure they werent in the area. Two artillery pieces fired at each target, and were capable of getting off two or three rounds a minute. They bombarded the targets for five minutes, and some buildings surrounding them where it was possible for the enemy to be placed.

Total devestation was almost guaranteed, however, the ATF followed it up with a ground attack, to remove any further terrorists and ensure the buildings were well and truly out of action. It would be costly to replace, but in the short term it was deemed necessary.

Terrorists were injured and some dead at all three (OOC: 3 is fine). When the enemy attacked, the terrorists lodged Molotov Cocktails and hand grenades. They all exploded, and the terrorists opened fire.

The ATF kept their heads down, and waited for any fire to die down a bit before they returned it, or at least poked their head above the parapet. One flash bang was sent flying at the terrorists position, followed up with one smoke grenade. Its grey fog was blown by the wind across the opening, and the men were able to manoeuvre themselves into crouching positions ready to return fire. The killing of the enemy remaining was a secondary objective, as the building had been taken out, but it was an objective they now couldnt ignore.

Clark was one of the two 'heavys' as they colloquially called them in the ATF, and flicked out the supports on his heavy machine gun. He readied to douse the whole area with a wall of bullets when the smoke cleared. A defensive position was secured, but their ability to retain it was unsure. Enemy numbers were not known.

The terrorists used the smoke to recover and then take up different positions, a few buildings down. They waited a minute, and then opened fire.

The ATF kept their heads down still, and held their position. Relief would soon come, they knew. Bombing runs of important targets would be the norm, and more substantial troop numbers on the streets would become a reality.

Hopefully it would stretch the terrorist forces out, but whether this happened or not, the ATF had no part to play in further guerilla action. The huge losses were not expected, and were something that left a bad taste in some generals mouths. Defeat was not viewed lightly by these men.

The terrorists kept firing, and then abruptly stopped. They quietly dispersed; six going around the enemy to shoot from behind and the last five spreading out around the front and sides of the enemy.

After they set up, they began to fire. More cocktails were thrown, and more fury was released into the bullets, which they prayed hit their enemy.

A heavy machine gun doused the five men at the front and sides, before its operator was removed from his position rather too abruptly for his liking by one of the cocktails explosions. The other troops fired bursts of bullets at the enemy in a skilled and precise way, but the panic of the troops to stop the enemy fire ultimately caused their deaths.

The terrorists approached slowly and quietly. They made sure the enemy troops were dead, and then tooks their weapons. They also took the clothes and burned the bodies. They went back to headquarters, cleaned the clothes, and put them on after repairing any holes. They went back to where the battle took place and acted as if they were the real troops.

IC:

An SUV was packed with bombs. The bombs were in cardboard boxes, so it looked like the driver was moving should anyone look to closely.

The SUV was at a roadblock, and when the enemy troops opened his door to search the car, he whipped out a gun and shot the searcher. He then brought his gun around and killed the other person, who was talking to him about his rights.

He took off toward the military base. Under heavy fire, he swerved the car so fast and so hard that it began to roll. Bullets struck the car, eventually setting off the bombs. A huge fireball erupted, and the driver was dead.

Truth had ordered to send fifty terrorists to destroy the water filtering plant.

-----

Five squads, each with five people, went in the plant at different locations. Bombs were set on the machines, walls, cieling, even floor of the plant. They then stayed there, hoping to draw enemy attention.

The landing zone was secure, and a dozen M777 howitzers were now set up, as well as approximately three regiments of infantry, somewhere between mechanized and motorized in Hamilayan military doctrine. Once more Candids arrived and a continuing supply line was established to keep the helicopters in the air, operations to clear out the terrorists could begin, but now it was time for a show of force. Twelve Blitz infantry fighting vehicles and an equal number of M101 Advancers and Legionnaires rolled out from the LZ, accompanied by five hundred troops. It didn't really matter in what direction, as long as it was vaguely towards the city centre. The point was to announce the Hamilayan presence to the Hayordians, hostile and otherwise, a part of protocol many Hamilayan commanders gleefully undertook with great pomp and ceremony. Four loudspeakers mounted on the Advancer APCs broadcasted their message.

"People of Hayord, we are soldiers of the Federal Republic of Hamilay's 32nd Division. We are here to restore order. Stay indoors, or you may be fired upon. To all personnel fighting against the Republic of Hayord, you are hereby requested to lay down your weapons and approach the nearest Hamilayan unit with your hands above your head. You will be treated in all accordance with international laws of war. If you continue to resist, your designation as unlawful terrorist combatants will remain, and you will be neutralized to maintain the security of the nation."

The Hamilayan infantry not inside the cover of the vehicles moved slowly and cautiously, checking all the side streets, some tossing flash-bangs around the corners before peering in.

Through the fireports of the lead Blitz infantry fighting vehicle, Captain Blake watched his fellow soldiers go through standard protocol with mild curiosity, but then turned away and raised his radio.
"This is the Hamilayan 295th Battalion, 32nd Division to Aleardian forces, come in, repeat, come in. Can anyone hear me?"

Then, offshore, a large aircraft carrier was seen, The CVN-0 Hannibal, with many an aircraft onboard. In the skies 12 Spectre Gunships and countless other aircraft began bombing terrorist locations throughout the SW corner.
On the beaches, countless landing craft beached on shore with 10,000 Peacekeeping soldiers and many tanks as the payload.

Everyone except for the terrorists were pleased for the reinforcements.

The terrorists were in shock and awe as UN Resolution Keeper soldiers marched up from the beach and the aircraft fly overhead. But Truth, the terrorist leader simply did this... ":f*** you losers. Ha Ha Ha!"

[QUOTE=The terrorists were in shock and awe as UN Resolution Keeper soldiers marched up from the beach and the aircraft fly overhead. But Truth, the terrorist leader simply did this... ":f*** you losers. Ha Ha Ha!"[/QUOTE]

Their was one reason why he did this. Hiding in the captured government building, they had a Nuclear warhead, a high military grade warhead, large enough to destroy the whole SW corner, kill all terrorists, and all soldiers in that area.
Truth than said to his second in command "Detonate It, Detonate It Now, their is no point fighting anymore, but, the enemy and all of our followers will be killed, and it would devastate Hayord Forever!" " So Detonate!"

A Few seconds later... a mushroom cloud was all that was over the SW corner of Hayord, most of UN Resolution Keeper troops were killed and others in the city. the terrorists were killed. Miles around there were collapsed trees and destroyed vehicles. The terrorist threat was now over.

OOC: UN Resolution Keeper, welcome to NS II, but I suggest you read the stickies. Using smilies in IC posts is unprofessional, but more importantly, you can't post what other people's characters do, it's godmodding. I doubt Hayord wants this RP to be killed very dead by nuclear weapons.

OOC: Sorry for my rather extended absence. Im back now though.

The ATF, shattered, were removed from the city. Only one or two units were at starting strength, an absolute commanding failure. Heads would roll for this when they got back.

The main battlegroup began their work. Outer city road blocks, garrisons in buildings, machine gun positions, constant fly-overs and laser guided bombing was due, and troops on the ground seemed overwhelming in comparison to the ATF's preliminary campaign.

Command sent a message out to its allies, asking them to send in troops also. First call was the north east corner of the city. They could only hope the real troops could break the enemy.

Vice-Admiral Santon entered Jursk's quarters. "Sorry to disturb you," he said. "We have a problem. I have just recieved word from home. All Delkorian Navy units have been recalled, Priority One. I will contact the Aleard Fleet, and have you transferred there."

--------

Admiral Pierce, commander of the Aleard Fleet,

We have been recalled back to home port. I need to transfer the Hayord leader, Jursk, to your fleet. Send transport to our ship. Please respond.

Pierce was infuriated. He had to tell the experienced CO, Grahams. After his meeting he was sure to inform the government of the potential need for further troops at a later date. He would have hoped to have utilised the foreign support further on into the campaign.

Nevertheless, Pierce sent out a transport helicoptor, with a two coptor gunship escort to pick up Jursk. Having him on board would be a liability, and a message was once again sent to the government after this drastic turn of events asking if there was a foreign ally nearby to take Jursk during the conflict.

The truth was, they were happy to have him, but his presence caused a greater threat to the ship as a target of attack.

Admiral Pierce, commander of the Aleard Fleet,

Thank you for sending the transport. I am sorry that this had to happen. Naval Command has ordered me back to port at full speed, with all ships battle ready. I will try to make a case to return, but I can't promise anything.
