A New Empire (22nd Century Closed)

“ We stand on the beginning of a brilliant new age. The past century has seen the rise and fall of many great Empires, many nations consolidating into great nations for the benefit of its members. With these great nations came great tragedy the world was once again ripped by war. Luckily or British Kingdom was left to it’s own devices. We did not assist this world but hid behind our shell of tradition and pride. In this new age the UK shall not be such a nation, it shall expand it borders to heaven itself and the Union Jack will be once again raised above the world. For peace, prosperity we shall expand, and once more we shall be an Empire.

Once the world was at peace under an English monarch but now millions die under the reign of terrorists and tyrants. So gentlemen now is the hour, and we are the tools for which the world shall be molded. Once more I call for your support to shift this world’s policy from global warfare to expanding into space and the colonization of new planets. Under the rule of an British Empire we shall have this, and forever from this point to the end of time will we be remembered as heroes, saviours of our people.”

Peter Summerton’s Address to Parliament January 1st 2100

“Well surely a colonial government can supply it’s own economy, the profits from Greenland can surely support any reconstruction or building projects in more then half of the dependencies.” An Expansionist party member yelled as the floor of the Commons again was again mobbed by the nearly violent Democratic MPs. The argument had been going on for nearly four hours and both parties voted quite mindlessly with their parties. It didn’t matter either way the Expansionist could carry the vote but without the Minister of the Treasury on their side things could become difficult.

“Announcing His Grace Peter Summerton, Chancellor of the United Kingdoms.” A Parliamentary page bobbed in and out of view trying to avoid the scandalized looks of the opposition to the Expansion Bill. Summerton nearly pushed him out of the way as he approached in full ceremonial state robes ermine brushed up against his slim neck as he nodded graciously to various Party members.

“Good morning Sirs… I bring hopeful news from the House of Lords, which has just finished deliberating on the matter of the Expansion Bill. It boils down to they have extended the limits of what may be called treason. Any member of the House of Commons who does not assist in the completion of the bill will be detained on charges of attempting to usurp the power of this elected body. I’m sure you understand this announcement at least. Now as minister of Foreign Relations, and since this falls into my realm of jurisdiction I demand a vote immediately.” He bowed slightly and left trailing his usual entourage of Marines. The House looked silently watching the others waiting to hear the first argument. There were none and soon they all sat and replied ‘aye’ when queried.

“Finally,” Summerton exclaimed as he was hustled by guards into a parked limo. “Wendell take this note to Major Partinson near Salisbury, do not of course read it….. Drive.” Groups of men were let out of the stretch limo at various streets and hurried off, as if all this had been perfectly planned for months. As the limo left London Summerton let his mind wander to time he spent in a plane above this land hunting for a rouge Regiment about 20 years ago. He remembered the night that they were found and medals he had won….The memory was cut short the rest was very painful and they had almost arrived in Liverpool near the BBC studio. “Why must we use BBC transmitters? Will ours not suffice?”

“Um… no your Grace strangely enough the transmitters used by the Government were once owned by the BBC in around 2070 anyway we have given them insider access to the story. They are censored like all television but they also have MP’s on their board. There is no technical reason but the bureaucracy demands it.” The doors opened and the aide bowed Summerton into a private studio where the Ministers of the Treasury and Internal Affairs were waiting. “They stood and nodded to the newly arrived Grace and once again settled down to speak in a low whisper.

Another 5 minutes past before a recordist stepped out and motioned them in.

“Alright sirs you have your speeches for the BBC, good. You may begin whenever.” The near monologue of the Chancellor spoke into the expensive equipment, this was not the major point but it always looked good to have a Chancellor addressing the world explaining the new Bill that would expand the Empire.

Simultaneously in London the King was finishing the Letters to the other nations of the World. “Damn you Summerton,” he mumbled as the copy was sealed and hurried off to the archive. He looked over the letter it was a long shot but perhaps it might work.

To Esteemed World Leaders:

I am sure that have noticed the UK’s withdrawn attitude towards world affairs. Today I must change that and I wish to announce that the United Kingdoms is once again on the diplomatic stage. We will now entertain all proposals for alliance trade agreements and alike. Hopefully we may have a brighter future together and assist each other to world prominence. My Chancellor also reminds me that he promised that Britain would expand. I must obey the will of the people, and express our interest in the purchase of any land or territory your nation can do without. We are willing to pay in favours, trade agreements, cash military material, nearly anything I am told. We dearly wish to reenter the world as a diplomatic, and economic power.

Signed:
His Majesty King James III

Yet another announcement, though Nake Kaluti. Normally he would have largely ignored a statement from such a small nation. Though today he was feeling favorably disposed and he decided to send a reply back to Britain by satellite.

His Majesty King James III,

We feel that it would be in the best interests of both our nations to better diplomatic relations. Many places in Songhai have had long ties with your nation and we share a common language. Thus we offer a trade agreement, which would lessen trade restrictions between us along with a mutual protection pact to initially last for 10 years though it could be extended. Also we have some land (shown here (http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/2932/22ndcenturyzn3.png), in pink) that we will sell for technological and military expertise.

King James was amazed, this looked promising and he took emergency power, which he had been granted recently by Summerton.

Your offer is most kind and we accept it. The Western Sahara will do extremely well it shall be added to St Helens and it's Hegemony. Trade tariffs of any raw goods from the Songhai (Sp?) have been completely removed. And a mutual protection pact has been excepted, for ten years. As for payment for the land we offer the following.

*95 Billion USD
* Four New English made Destroyers handed over to your Empire.
* An Englsih made Mag Lav line between Khartoum, and Yamoussoukro
connected with other major cities between.
* 44 Passenger Planes donated to civilian compnaies of your choice.
*120,000 SCAR Carbines, along with military training to your troops.
* 650,000 Shares (30%) in BBC Africa held formerly by the UK's government.

If this is unacceptable please contact us and we can hammer out a better plan.

Nake looked at the message that had just come from the UK. Their payment for the Western Sahara wasn't quite what he had had in mind, but it looked good enough and a short reply was sent back to the English.

His Majesty King James III,

Your proposal is acceptable. Already our troops have begun leaving the Western Sahara, and we only ask that you give any civilians there time to leave if they wish to do so. This friendship between our two countries can only benefit us.

Colonel Parrion was in a bad mood indeed. nothing has been going his way. But the announcment by England sparked his enthusiasm. "what do i have to trade?" he thought. Then it hit him. He has military technology they might not have. He traveled to I-12 and started to send his message
"Honorable King James III, Chancellor of England,
I, colonel Jesus De La Parrion, come asking for friendship. We here at the UCMS heard yur glorious announcment and wanted to pitch in. We were thinking of giving the great british minds a piece of our military hardware in exchange for what you see fit. We will give you 60 of our top of the line Siege tanks and our 2 Diablo airship artillery craft to boost your might. We hope this is a good enough offer for you. If not, we can also pitch in some of our large sugar surplus crop as a gift.
Best Wishes,
Colonel Jesus De La Parrion"

After finishing his champagne, he was informed of the announcement from the Chancellor of England. Figuring he was on a roll, he once again called the cabinet and discussed the issue. They wholeheartedly agreed with political cooperation with England, as they too were neutral throughout the great wars. He once again called in a secretary to draft a message...

His Majesty King James III,

We too have been in our own shell for far too long. We have recently sent out an expression to cooperate to PAC for their own space program. We would like to extend our hand in free cooperation with your nation in an open alliance. This would involve free trade of technology, economy, and military. At the time we primarily have our quadruped technology to offer, as it is our widest field that we know an incredible amount about. We are awaiting your reply.

Respectfully,
President Johanne Pierre

After drafting this letter and sending it with a courier via jet, one of his advisors told him that he should make an announcement to his people of the upcoming alliances. Agreeing, he began preparing the speech...

I apologize, but military expansion is not our mind, and it seems wrong for the UK to recieve military support from a nation seeking an alliance. We do of course have a counter proposal. As of the moment we are searcing for a way to cheaply ship such items as sugar from South America to the British Domains. It has come to our attention the Galapagos Islands and the possibly the Easter Island could boast trade profit between our nations up to 4%. This economic activity can only resault in increased profits for both our nations.

So our offer for the Galapagos & Easter Islands:

*An Mutual Protection Pact Between our Nations for 8 years.
* Open Ports for any UMCS military ship.
* 140 Billion USD
* A reduction of Tariffs on all UCMS goods coming into any UK Pacific Colony.
* And more personally and Honourary Knighthood for Colonel Parrion.

Of course if this is a plan which does not suit you we may of course examine another proposition.

Communication To: His Excellency President Johanne Pierre
From: His Grace Peter Summerton

Sir, what you ask is against every ideal of the Expansionist Party. With your Republic Mongering the Commonwealth of nations was destroyed. A power that perhaps could have saved this world, your Quebec pushed over the edge. Any relations we have with your country shall be hostile ones from now. You insult me by your request and I hope that the world shall soon realize that Quebec was the harbinger of the wars, the death. Mark my words your Excellency, the Empire will always strike back.

Signed:
His Grace Peter Summerton Chancellor of The United Kingdoms.

The Chancellor sat back he had made most of it up on the spot while King James had been smoldering in his desk. It was true in a sense but one would have to strech it quite far if Quebec was to be blamed for the century of war.
It would do...The Chancellor looked at the papers he held is his hand, orders for a new armoured Division, he pushed them to the King silently.

OOC Sorry to pick you but It's really against everyones Political position and I just want a war.

OOC: haha... thats ok. I'll just go along with it. I understand OOC that it's not gonna work, but I'll have him break off after another response.

IC:

Upon receiving the message, Johanne was completely baffled. He himself knew that Canada would not have aided in any of the wars either way had Quebec not seceded. They had adopted a policy of zero WMDs, and most of the wars were fought primarily with the terrible weapons. While he regretted his nation's somewhat militant actions in the past to secede, he knew that it was in the past, and that the current generation had nothing to do with it. He called the secretary back and dicated the following message...

His Grace Peter Summerton,

These accusations you charge us with are completely baffling. The nation of Quebec has been very much uninvolved in international affairs since it has seceded, and have done nothing but humor our paranoid tendencies and secure our nation. While we accept this denial, we would like if we could somehow come to a peaceful settlement to this disagreement. We have no wish for conflict as this would only worsen the international field.

President Johanne Pierre

After the letter he knew that he would have to rethink his announcement to his people. The English had denied his request for alliance AND accused his nation of crimes it did not commit. Centuries ago this may have lead to the accused nation going to war, but these were more stable times and nothing of the sort would happen, at least not caused by him. Noting the possibility of war, he called in his Defence Administrator and began to consult...

Emperor Xu looked briefly over the reports he had been handed on the latest by the British government, scanning the lines and deciding on a course of action that he thought just mabye the British could bite...

Esteemed Chancellor Peter Summerton:

The Pan-Asian Coalition recognizes your plight, and with our latest venture in the space program, we have good relations on a solid level. However, I would like to offer you more: We would like to extend the hand of the moon itself. The PAC has plans to move into sole domination of the moon, developed for some time. Granted, we would work freely with other lasting moon colonies, however, the PAC would have the primary spot in the moon area. We would like to extend a three-way pact with your esteemed nation in dominance of the lunar area, with several establishments, colony areas, and defensive structures planned. We also plan to extend the same offer to the empire of Songhai, a notable and well-meaning nation, to join in a three-way bond to secure a large chunk of the space campaign early as a stable base for future extension.

Yours internationally,
Jianling Xu

Xu chuckled. He had big plans for space, indeed...

Peter Summerton smiled at the transcript he held in his hand, so the Asians want Space for us... He walked in silence down the polished halls of Warwick castle, ahead of him he only looked to find beckering Generals concered with their own personal vendettas. To the east however was the future. He stopped and listened at the door, indeed fighting. He considered dismissing the entire High Command of the Empire for a moment.

"Corporal take this into them and let them continue," He had quickly scribbled a note on a carved pillar.

"Yes your Grace," The door opened and Summerton caught the faintest view of feathers and gold before the door was shut. He walked away quickly hoping to avoid the pouring out of Generals, and was lucky to disapear around a corner before they burst out the door. He wasted little time quickly running to the communications room in the castle and quickly typed out a message.

Your message intrigues me and of course intereasts Britain greatly. I believe that the way forward is in this pact and we wish to see it through. As for the Songhai Empire, they are also allies and we believe that they a worthy of sharing in this endeavour. To show our commitment I myself shall arrive to sign the treaty and inspect progress of facilities and anything else related. I hope that this is allowed as I would much like to see China and the surronding area. May I suggest Hong Kong for our meeting place. As I understand Cambridge Universtiy is nearly done with our plans And I may bring them myself, although Our staff shall arrive on the HMS Repulse if the PAC allows.

I await your approval and I shall arrive to secure our futures. Until the best of luck to the PAC, and it's allies.

Signed:
Peter Summerton Chancellor of the United Kingdoms

Rediculously Encripted message to Major General James Brannesburg
General Brannesburg,
The UCMS would like to ask what exactly this space craft is that you speak of, for my superior is quite interested. The Colonel just wants to kno what exactly it is and the terms of sale.
