Nation Name: Arcadia
Inhabitants: Humans-60%, Elves-20%, Halfelves-10%, Others(Immigrants and visitors)-10%
Population: 60,000

History: Arcadia did not come into being through some great war or revolution. It simply...became. The elves were always there, of course. The humans were the newcomers, the first few arriving when they were still nomadic hunters following whatever four-legged herbivore that tribe chose to hunt. As time progressed, humans trickled into the vast forest seeking refuge. Many humans fled from insectoid invaders that destroyed their original homes. Others fled plague and the undead roeming the earth. Still others fled a genocide along a distant coast. It mattered not why they came, the elves welcomed all into the bountiful forest.

As time passed, others simply immigrated, seeking solotude or a new beginning. In fact, it is believed that many fugitives and escaped criminals had made Arcadia their home as none are ever asked about their past. Arcadia has yet to do anything in the world at large, nothing whatsoever to reveal themselves to those outside the forest. However...that could be about to change.

Cities: Arcadia doesn't have conventional cities. There are ten large Elven enclaves: Agrymna, Antius, Caspaceos, Ebentus, Ererneos, Ibasis, Mytonea, Panavaia, Panosius, and Pelivis. Humans dont really have cities for the most part. Halfelves live either like humans or elves.

Arcadian Military: Arcadia doesn't have a standing army per se, but it does have a highly trained militia. When you live off by yourself, you learn to protect yourself. (Much like american settlers). If it were ever to be engaged, the military would concentrate on hit and run tactics and raids, preferring a guerilla war as opposed to a stand up fight.

Arcadian magic: Almost entirely possesed by the elves. Mainly utilitarian stuff. Rare among humans, and much more violent due to human nature. Somewhere in between for halfelves.

Arcadian Technology:Definately not a production powerhouse. Most weaponry is hand crafted, since there's no need to mass produce it, they can afford to take longer and make a higher quality firearm. The only thing that approaches mass production are vehicles of the jeep and truck variety (cars can't handle the rough terrain) and ammunition.

Society: Elves live in enclaves up in the boughs while humans live in houses on the ground. Halfelves do both. Those who live on the surface, be they human or halfelf, live in semi-isolation. In many cases, one could walk a day or more before seeing their closest neighbor.

Terrain: Well, it's woody. The trees are massive, many stories in height and have great girth as well as thick braches. The Elves have flattened many of these branches to make a road system amongst the treetops. The surface is bumpy as the humans never saw a reason to make roads. Farming is done in clearings in the forest itself, the inhabitants not wanting to attract any attention from the ousiders. There are also vast networks of ruins within the forest, signs of its previous people. The elves seem to know the story but refuse to tell it. Some of these ruins are nothing more than a pile of stone, nut there are a couple of ancient, decrepit fortifications, including one on a hill which rises step pyramid-like so that its top level is even with the forest canopy.

Misc: Arcadia has gone out of its way to stay effectively invisible. As far as the outside world knows, those who enter simply vanish; and the population is spread out enough that those who make it back out have frequently seen nothing.
