OOC: I want to get more involved in the FT community

I want to RP more on NS, and I'm getting a little tired of doing PMT stuff, especially since I never get to use my FT stuff (the couple of times I did mostly just ended up trailing off into obscurity).

What sorts of FT organizations exist and what do they do?

I left FT, so I don't know. I'm just posting to lift your hopes.

I can only think of two, 'NATO/WARSAW' type groups, those being the GE and GFFA(I think that's the right spelling), other than that, not sure what other orgs there are.

I should probably clarify a bit-- I want to get involved more and actually find an RP to get into and establish some IC relationships with other FT nations, as currently my FT nation is very isolationist/xenophobic-- this does not make for many RP opportunities when you avoid all contact!

Ah, a possible plot would be either you/somebody stumbles upon somebody/you doing something like asteroid mining in an out of the way/inhospitable or perhaps an 'off limits 'system devoted to dangerous R&D.

That's certainly quite possible. My FT self conducts a LOT of clandestine "slash and burn" mining operations on planets and so forth.

Feh. The GFFA is a glorified terrorist group with little organisation, and the GE is just that, an Empire. The funny thing about Empires is that one person is calling all the shots... Which is why I'm in the ESUS. Much better, as we're much more organised than the other Alliances, and we have an established track record, being at least as old as the GE, I believe. One of the largest players in the Shivan War, 'sides the Shivans.

Other FT organisations include the IUSS, the Galactic Alliance, the Republic, and several others I can't remember at the moment, one of them being housed on the International Mall. Most of these don't do anything.

As for RPs, I'd happily initiate contact if you like. QUETZAL is inanely nosy. Perhaps an Avatar scout stumbles across one of your nation's planets on accident?

well for my upcoming ft intro nation "Onosis" i hope to rp insolationist style intro first contact type thing, so far got 3 different races (none are original, but are not widly heard of) who live in harmony, and i want to have an exploration/public relations stunt/coop mission between empires thing to happen.

essencially a uncharted solar system, that these people think will have massive amounts of untapped resources. where they run into the people of onosis, and each species is unsure on how to deal with these outsiders, which leads to the brink of civil war. but the story is still in the begining stages and onosis is still not completely finished, it is using my morvonia nstracker (for two reasons 1) to help my nation in this intro rp and 2) the humans atleast on my planet will be desndents of morvonian people.

copyright but i hope it gives you ideas for your intro.

Starting a war always helps in making contact.

Also, joining the GE (which I am apart of) or the GFFA will get you some quick contacts.

I'd be interested in trade later on, but for now I offer you a broader list of alliances than that of Theao.

GE: Typical galactic alliance. Anyone who wants to can join. Loose-knit and supposedly ruled by Unified Sith.

GFFA: Another typical alliance, just more democratic than the GE.

ESUS: Rarely seen alliance, but coming out of hiding suddenly. To be a member you need to prove you're a damn good RPer, and most of their members are nations with over 3 billion for population, so they're pretty powerful. However, most of the time their just a social club and don't do much.

Republic: Me!!!! We're more like a giant nation than an alliance, kinda complicated for the new guys but if you wanna have lots of character RP's and meddle in other people's affairs then check us out! Woo!

GE: Not very active right now. Fairly powerful, but is utterly focused on SW technology.

GFFA: A friendly little alliance, but one that has the unfortunate circumstance of being on the wrong side of the ESUS. And, considering the ESUS is bigger than the Republic, GFFA, and GE combined, that's not really a good thing. But the war's damn fun.

ESUS: We're a mutual-defense alliance. No other obligations whatsosever, excluding free-trade. Most of our members are actually over five or six billion (including me now! ^_^), and we're coming out of hibernation to kick butt. Of course, getting into the ESUS involves RPing. And good RPing. Thus, we tend to have the cream of the crop, so to speak. That's not to say that other alliances don't have good RPers as well, just that.. we have more of 'em.

Republic: A little alliance which is more like a nation. You vote for representatives (kinda silly seeing as there's only about five nations in it), and you don't get to control your own military.

Those are the main active alliances in FT. I'd advise either joining the Republic or the GE if you wanna keep quiet, as the GFFA and ESUS are at war, and joining in the middle of that might not be good for your nation.

I should probably give a bit of background on my FT self first.

Some of you may or may not remember NS War I-- that thing Hataria/Casseopiea Galaxy started a long time ago that turned out more or less ok.

As a result of that, my nation bootstrapped itself to a limited level of FT-- and through some unspecifed cataclysm, the Earth base was eradicated (my FT self is set significantly after my PMT self).

Due to actions on the parts of Coreworlds and Godular (as well as the other hostile FT nations) during that RP, my people aquired a healthy paranoia and xenophobia concerning other species.

I don't actually have planets as such, rather, most of my facilities exist in hyperspace-- the B5 type, that is, well off the beacon routes. Most food is cloned meat or hydroponically grown vegetables (supplemented by foodstuffs from smash and grab raids), and resources are generally aquired through either attaching boosters and a jump point generator or flat out towing asteroids of suitable composition into hyperspace, or extremely ecologically unfriendly mining operations on planet surfaces (think big time strip mining, or such things as using nukes to knock down a whole forest of metal trees to haul them away, or causing a volcano to explode big time so the mineral-rich lava can be scooped up).

my approach to getting known in FT is to send out exploration ships which warp into a star system and make diplomatic contacts that way.

answering a distress call also works as well.
Xanthal

Xanthal left the ESUS because that alliance was a bit too quick with the trigger finger. It's also worth noting that, for the most part, the ESUS consists of nations using very advanced future technology; so if you're coming in from the low end of FT you might feel a bit out of place (that was my main problem with it OOC). It's true that the ESUS maintains high standards for roleplaying, but I find they're frequently guilty of the same conceit they often accuse others of. Nevertheless, if you don't mind the downsides, the ESUS is a group of very talented people, I'd say second in roleplaying ability only to the exclusive club that is the Triumvirate of Yut.

Other than that, I think it's mostly already been said. Xanthal is currently a member of the GFFA, which has undergone some good reforms lately to make it into a more cohesive, organized group. However, as has been pointed out, the GFFA also happens to have its future existence threatened at the moment.

Bump. I've gotten some positive responses through TG and other sources so far but I'd certainly like to hear more :)

Ooo! I know what will help ya! Watch out for Chronosia, he's evil. Not like outright I'm going to slaughter your entire race evil, but evil as in he'll spin an intricate web of tricks and deceits, then when your stuck he'll destroy and enslave your people.:)

Oh and don't feed the lions.

I remember you from the NS War. Anyway, if you really want to meet some people in the FT part of NS, I would recommend contacting a few of the established FT RPing powers and see if they would RP with you. Here are some nations that I would recommend:

Chronosia
CoreWorlds
Unified Sith
Huntaer
Hyperspatial Travel

I know there are some other big nations that I'm missing, but it's a starting point for you. I would always be willing to RP with you as well.
