As the Lyonite fleet jumped away, the last Anla`shok reinforcement ship jumped in. John Sheridan was a modified Sharlin-class vessel, it had a slight bulge on the rear fin, showing off it's FTL inhibitor. As it arrived, it slaved it's command to the Delenn, and the three Minbari ships came close together for a fast command meeting. The combat projections turned off, instead becoming a meeting table with chairs. Hedrann sat down, motioned for Grand Admiral Ford to join him, and he folded up one of the video conference screens for Alyt Durhan of John Sheridan, and Alyt Aalaan of White Star Four. As they clicked on, they saw Alyt Hedrann and Grand Admiral Ford of the Cassiopeian fleet.

"Gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to Grand Admiral Harrison Ford of the Cassiopeian Navy. His fleet did a lot of the bruising in our battles with the Lyonites, and he'll be assisting us in any counterattack. Now, my ship has picked up the ion trail and it's pointing towards this world," Hedrann typed coordinates into a data transmission pad, "Now we have two choices here. We can launch a counter-attack with our Cassiopeian friends, or remain to defend the planet Aio from any further aggressors."

"I believe we should launch the counter-attack now. Nobody attacks protectorates of the Anla`shok and gets away with it." said Alyt Durhan.

"My vessel will remain behind to assist in defending Aio," Alyt Aalaan of White Star Four said, "I'm not a heavy bruising ship like you two so I'll hang back."

"If you insist, Aalaan." Hedrann said.

Hedrann pulled a new video conferencing panel up and hailed the Cassiopeian flagship. He said, "Honourable allies, we are preparing to launch a counter-attack straight to the heart of the Lyonites; Will you join us?"

The largest single ship of the Cuotl, the City of Vengeance, hovered amidst the void, With the Cassiopeian crewmen at the side of Czin, and the city thrumming with a veritable invasion force of Cuotl Sentinals, they were a formidible and ferocious sight to behold. Surrounded by the darting creations of Shok, the Storm Goddess, the City hovered nearer to the allied fleet.

all surviving ships from last rp, plus the rest of my fleet. which is about 150 total, then theres 300 orbital platforms with 240 inch rail guns, and 750 anti fighter platforms with large missile banks, as well as 500,000,000 mines with 500 megaton warheads. the moon has been turned into a small fortress it has over 8,000 heavy turbolasers, 10,000,000 quad lasers, and 100,000,000 VLS missile system. the planet has a large amount of ground side batteries,
and a planetary shield.

IC:

"It is my personal belief that they will perform a counterstrike operation against us. I have put the planet's defenses at Defcon One to be sure. The fleet will take up a postion around thee planet and try and hold off them as long as possible.

Hedrann said to the video conference he was in, "Hold on a second, the Cuotl are sending us a message."

He pressed a communicator button, directed the transmission at the Cuotl City of Vengeance, and said, "Yes, you can certainly accompany us, now do you have video conferencing technology so we can add you into our little strategic conference?"

The Grand Admiral sighed. "Well, my fleet yes. But since the action is over it's up to the individual Admirals. I only need five fleets though. I mean if you want to go it's your choice. I'm sorry for the lack of ships available. But, the Senate wouldn't like the bulk of their Navy off in some strange offensive. So I need to send back some support."

The Admirals of five of the fleets said no, they didn't want to endanger their men. Besides they had to go back, so they said. The other five decided to stick it out.

Ford sighed. "Well, we have 145 ships total with us. I think. Point is, you're looking at the first ever 1st Cassiopeian Combined Taskforce. I just made it up. There is an extra fleet we could bring up but err, defenses and whatnot. Anywho, point is we're on your side and we welcome Cuolt involvement as well."

As he said this the five fleets warped back to their respective planets and whatnot.

He paused. "Now then, we can't go into this all willy nilly yes? He's probably scared as hell right now. My ships can take a beating, but we don't have any logistical support so I hope I don't this doesn't turn into a war of attrition. Of course it's my guess we're not going to invade it, oh no... I have a feeling this is going to be a war of vengeance. Of course, I have to ask Mr. Hedrann something. Do you have a plan for this? The Cassiopeian Navy has never had to assualt a planet, even less a capital."

"We're going to send a stealthed probe into the Lytonite home system to determine their initial defenses; then we will formulate our battle plans."

As he said this, Delenn launched a small probe, equipped with a Minbari stealth device, and a jump drive. It opened a jump hole, in the general direction of the Lyonite system. It would exit shortly, to probe the defenses.

Planet side everyone was very uneasy about the oming fight, as they knew was coming from the ove to Defecon 1, which the last time meant a massive war. The automated sensor stations were giving reports every 15 minutes, and the fleet was runing patrols n the sstems edege hoping to catch anything and stop it before they get close enough to do any real damage.

Not to mention that as you're a nation of one billion people/droids/aliens, without a particularly strong economy, I don't see how you're claiming to afford all of this... perhaps you'd care to explain what exactly your economic model is and how much of the proceeds you're spending on installing these uberwank defenses around your system?

Probe 1357 detected a small FTL worm hole opening up, and reported it directly to the HQ planetside.

"Sir there is a FTL entry point in sector one-three-five-eight. how should we respond?"

"Is there a patrol in a close by sector?"

"Yes, Patrol five is only three sectors away."

"Send them into investagate."

"They are on their way."

A Patrol of 12 gunships sped toward the location of the wormhole hoping to intercept what ever came through.

With a bit of really rough and sketchy calculation, my conservative estimate for the amount of recoil produced by a 600 inch railgun is something in the 30 million kgf range (a number in the billions or higher of break horsepower). This is approximately enough to power a thousand F-22s. The powerplant required for such an operation would be equivalent to about a hundred standard nuclear reactors, or several antimatter engines. Per station. And such engines tend to be rather large.

As for countering the recoil.... the counter-thrusters would need to be firing something quite similar to the 600 inch railgun slug (maybe two three hundred inch diametre rockets, or whatever), in the opposite direction. All we'd need to do then is fly directly above the planet and the counterthrusters would send their rockets into your atmosphere with the approximate effect of a meteorite hitting the surface, or a 200 megaton nuclear bomb.

In other words.... tone it down a bit, k?

IC: Kast's sensors went beserk. "INCOMING"

Hunters voice responded, "WHat is it?"

"its a hundred, make that 120 mega ton missile."

Draconis responded. "I got it"
He changed his beam rifles setting to disable ion.

He turned to the sky and waited for the missile to be in range.

A red circle showed up on his screen and he got the locked on tone.

"Ive got tone." "Firing"

THe blue ion blast launched from his beam rifle. He followed up with two more shots. The first missed but the seccond and third hit and the systems of teh missile were disabled, disarming the warhead. The bomb smashed harmlessly in to the ground at their feet.

"HAHA NICE SHOT"

"yeah lets get out of here."

The seven headed for space but were weary of more missiles and incoming fighters.

Kast had plugged the harddrive into his ships computer. "HOLY SHIT!"
"What Kast?" Draconis replied.

"I hacked into the Hardrive, ive got Planetary shield codes, Frequency codes, ship movements, everything."

"So where are ships so we can avoid them."

"Um their being invaded currently, so were free and clear. However, its likely theyll be annihalated. THree fleets on one. Thats hardly fair."

Draconis opened subspace com to Korhal. "Wheres our pic up."
IT should be entering your space now Drake.

Horsemen, this is the Tigerclaw, your chariot has arrived.

Draconis laughed, "good to hear Valco. Horsemen dock in the carriar bay."

The UltimaX carriar, a 2 KM long ship, that could hold 3000 Wraith fighters eaily, with room to spair, decloaked. The 7 horsemen switched into Fighter mode and docked in the hanger.

Draconis went to the bridge. "I need a com again."
The system operator opened com. "Com up sir"

"Command, the Lyon system is under attack, are we able to intervene?"

Negative Drake, our forces are currently Deployed to Kolna, Droma's mobilized.

"Shit."
We are unable to aid these people. Hopefully someone else will.

"DAMNIT!"

Delenn
The operator controlling the probe recieved an angry beeping noise as the probe's rapid exit from jumpspace was detected by the Lyonite patrols. He pressed some buttons on the control panel, which increased the sensor jamming systems to maximum, breaking any target locks the Lyonites may have had on the probe. He brought it to maximum acceleration, sending it diving. All the while, the probe was gathering information on their defenses. The first packet had arrived at the Delenn, showing Alyt Hedronn clear images of the patrols and the minefield. New images were coming in almost every twenty seconds of new ships, stationary defenses, and planets.

On the Combat Bridge
"Gentlemen, we have recieved new information. It appears that the Lyonites have their fleet split up into numerous patrol sections, it doesn't look like their fleet is one organized entity. We can take advantage of this. There also appear to be millions of large mines. How these work without destroying every Lyonite ship is beyond me, but moving on. This mines most likely have a ridiculously large yield, and my vessel carries gigaton-level warheads, which should easily be enough to clear us a hole. There are also numerous platforms with ridiculously large looking barrels, possibly railguns. If my suspicions are confirmed, those railguns can't be shooting at any sort of velocity to damage us, and our tractor beams will deal with the projectiles without any troubles. They still have a sizable fleet in total, and if they can get organized we'll have decent casualties. We must move fast, destroy as much as we can before they have the chance to realize what's happening." Hedronn said that, taking a breath and looking at Grand Admiral Ford to see if he had anything to add.

Outside the ship
From the hangars of John Sheridan, six large cargo shuttles entered the void, at a heading pointing at the Lyonite wreckage. They searched the wreckage of the dozens of Imperial Star Destroyers, looking for anything resembling a usable mainframe or computer. Some possibilities were found, and the Minbari shuttles carefully loaded the computers into the cargo bays. They shuttled themselves back to the John Sheridan, where dozens of engineers began the complicated work of hacking into the mainframes, if they were still usable. Some mainframes were unusable, and the engineers started to jury-rig one complete mainframe from the guts of dozens of destroyed ones.

Harrison paused. "Well, I pretty much can't disagree. The plan sounds sane. Now why their ships are on patrol, I have no idea. What does worry me though is that moon. We could either blow it up and destroy the tides or take out the fortress, though the Senate wouldn't like civilian casualties... hm. Maybe our Cuolt friends can do that. Also, if you want we can be at the front. We seem to have the most ships here and well, quite frankly we were the ones that fired the first defensive shots, we should be the last."

He paused. "And those mines... oy. I never found the usefulness of them. Yah, you'll shoot 'em down. Don't worry the Cassiopeian Navy is a professional force. I just hope losses on our side aren't heavy, the Senate wouldn't like that..."

He looked at the Temple of Vengeance. "And what is that flying thing anyway?"

[DESCRIPTION OF HIIGARAN 15TH EXPEDITIONARY TASK FORCE ACTIONS IN LYON COUNTY SYSTEM]

After the meeting, the captain of HGNS Black Rose was recalled to continue further scouting missions. However, orders were also given to detach the terawatt particle beams to lash onto the next ship to enter the system.

As the Black Rose exited to further parts unknown, three new vessels arrived alongside the Minbari vessel. One of them was the Nalthoran J5 modification B combined stealth/sensors cruiser HGNS Marauder. The second, a modified Sobani carrier, HGNS Principe de Alfombras. The third, a long, 900 meter vessel, based off the designs of a Cush Federation star cruiser, the FCN Alyssa Silvermane.

"This is the Hiigaran 15th Expeditionary Fleet Scouting Task Force 21.5, reporting in."

OCC: its just small ships, like gunships, and the few frigates i have left that are on patrol the rest of the fleet is clustered around the planet.


IC:

"Sir we are getting a jamming signal from this location." The Captian pointed at a place on screen.

"Have them trace the signal and get a lock on it.Then destroy the source."

A group of Gun ships move in and on the source and had locked it to a small area.

"Captian we have a lock."

"Have all ships fire at will."

The patrol fired into the area of the jamming signal hoping to destroy it.

Lyonite Home System
The probe dropped the jamming, as it wasn't helping any, and redirected the power to the engines, dodging fire and taking minor hits on the shielding as it gathered more information. It purposefully avoided flying through the minefield, although the probe operator was considering doing so to destroy the probe's pursuers.

Delenn
Hedronn opened a video communication line to the Alyssa Silvermane, and said, "Welcome, Hiigarans. I have called for extra Anla`shok units to join us in the assault for more firepower, and they will be here within 25 minutes. I will update you on the current strategic plan through a databurst."

Hedronn looked at Grand Admiral Ford and said, "That is what the Cuotl call the City of Vengeance. Our sensors have determined little about it, except that it uses two large quantum singularities for power and that it uses lightning beams for weapons similar to the Death Spheres. Other than that, nothing. We have detected your soldiers onboard, which was a bit of a shock to the sensor operator. Didn't expect to find any Cassiopeians onboard. Anyway, we should be ready to begin the assault once our probe information has been completed and our reinforcements arrive."

34 ships appeared in the system. Allied to the Cuotl, the Necrons had come to aid them. A dozen each Jackals and Dirges, a trio of stealthy Shrouds, six frail seeming Scythes, and a single massive Cairn all made theselves known. Ships so swift, powerful, and difficult to destroy that many navies would flee at the first sight of them. And now the largest fleet of them sighted in decades had descended on the home of those fools that had attacked their ally.

I have come. Those that have struck at our ally will fall. I shall feast...

Lol this is SOT under one of my puppet names. I just signed a treaty effectively ending the war between the two nations, but Amazonian beasts are moving in, ill see if i cant detatch one or two fleets to you.

"Unless there is anything else, Grand Admiral Ford, I believe we are ready to begin the attack. I've signalled the Entil`tha and the Mor`shin, they will meet our task force there in twenty-five minutes. They will wait for our signal to drop out of jump space and attack. The Cassiopeians will be taking the lead in this, they have the most ships. We will clear the minefield and then we should clear their defensive platforms. Their fleet is set into patrols, so they won't be a problem. Grand Admiral Ford, I would request that you remain on the Delenn, you can command your vessels from my combat bridge. I'll get an engineer to fit you with a command headset. It lets you communicate with your ships using our systems in real-time."

Hedronn clicked his ship-wide communicator and said, "Task force, return to red alert, we will be leaving momentarily. Activate combat bridge and prepare to enable the shields and ablative armour. Engineering, what is the status of the main gun that failed during combat?"

The voice of an engineer in the gunnery department responded back with, "It's running at 50% power, any more and it'll fail again. We'll need to do more indepth repairs later."

"Fine." Hedronn said, and looked at Ford.

"Delenn to task force, enter jump space. Signal to the Cassiopeians that we are leaving now."

"Aye!" responded the White Star Four, and the same for the John Sheridan.

The Minbari task force pulled away from orbit of the planet, and the combat bridge activated, illuminating the room with the sights of the hundreds of allied vessels, the planet Aio, dwarfing every ship in it's blue form, and the mysterious Necron warships. Ford and Hedronn watched the John Sheridan enter jump space with the blue vortex, followed by White Star Four, and last, the slight jolt of sudden acceleration hit the Delenn as she accelerated. The jump vortex opened up, allowing the Minbari task force to move faster than light.

Incoming to meet the three Anla`shok ships were the Entil`tha, a three kilometre long Valen`zha class battleship, and the Mor`shin, an ELINT carrier. Despite Entil`tha's larger size, Delenn would be in overall command of this mission, because she arrived at this situation first.

It would be a twenty-five minute jump using Minbari FTL, possibly more for the Cassiopeians, the Hiigarans, the Necrons and the Cuotl. This was a problem when attempting to coordinate massive multi-nation task forces, and Hedronn knew the headache of attempting to coordinate this hastily-formed strike would get even worse..

The STSS TIGERCLAW entered Lyon space. They kept a conciderable distance diploying fighters that stayed pretty close to the ship to protect it.

Draconis monitered teh ship movements from teh harddrive, and watched the coalition forces moving in.

"Open coms to command. "

"aye sir"

"Com open sir. "

"Command is there nothing we can do?"

Uh Draconis we got some magic working over here, were able to deploy the 5th tactical fleet and the 3rd Battle fleet. Wed send the 7th tactical but their currently on assignment. and we need to keep the rest of the battle fleets here. The two fleets are in bound ETA 4 hours.

"Roger command. Tigerclaw out."

“Location of Lyon County system received. Hyperspace jump in three, two one. Strike group, this is HGNS Marauder, opening hyperspace window now.” The familiar blue dot elongated into a line, one for each Hiigaran vessel present, allowing the ships to enter the Hiigaran variant of hyperspace and make their way towards parts unknown.

[OOC: And our fleets may be small, but we have ways of dealing with your kind. Hehe.]

Harrison grinned. "Well we're leading the charge!" He said to his fleet from the Delenn.

He went into a speech. "Today we find out if our Navy is actually useful. So I expect all hands to be on deck. Of course we might lose men, but we always lose men! Do not be afraid of taking risks, we might be outnumbered but we are smarter then the enemy. We wiped out thousands of men with minimal losses and hell we can do it again! Ships prepare for lightspeed towards the Lyonite Empire, today is a historical day. Now whether it'll be good history is another story."

And thus the massive fleet, organized to cover itself from all sides front and back and whatnot, all entered. All fighters safely inside, pilots praying. Captains looking into the black void of space knowing it might be their last time.

Harrison gulped as the Wyatican ship headed off. "We're leading the attack... we'll be in front... we'll win." He smirked.

Lyonite Capital System
"Alyt Hedronn, we are in position. Entil`tha and Mor`shin are also in position, they are 2,000 klicks do our starboard side and they are ready to begin the attack."

"Give the signal, exit jump space. Our probe is still transmitting, it shows that a ship belonging to the Sons of Tarsonis has entered the system. We're going to drop out and immediately fire upon it, as it seems that they are supporting the Lyonites."

"Aye. Jump points opening in 5, 4, 3, 2.." the navigation officer said as he keyed in the command to open the exit-point. Five ships, the Delenn, the John Sheridan, the White Star Four, the Entil`tha, and the Mor`shin, they were one of the rare Anla`shok Minbari task forces. In Lyonite space, very suddenly, five blue vortexes erupted from nowhere, spewing out the Anla`shok task force.

"Alyt, we are detecting upwards of one hundred million large mines, as well as various patrol ships from the Lyonites as well as the Tarsonis vessel. Orders?"

"Raise shields, open fire on the Tarsonis vessel and order all ships to launch fighters. Get us into combat formation Hedronn Zeta 6. Fire missiles at the Lyonite patrol nearest us, use the rear tubes and the two hundreds. Form a fighter screen ahead of our fleet, when this comes to blows we'll advance against their fighters with ours. Fire the four gee-tee missiles ahead at the minefield, we'll open our hole. Maximum spread pattern, destroy as many mines as possible in the first salvo, these mines are large enough that it'll probably cause a chain reaction."

"Keep an eye on the Cassiopeian fleet, they'll most likely be facing the bulk of the Lyonite fleet and if they're in trouble we will do a tactical FTL to assist. Move!"

Space
The Minbari task force immediately carried out their orders, with massive destruction about to occur. Six four gigaton yield fusion bombs left the missile tubes of the Entil`tha, as well as four one gigaton yield fusion bombs from the Delenn. They were spread out in a pattern that would cause the most destruction as possible, so as to allow the Cassiopeian fleet to FTL right through. The John Sheridan and the Entil`tha turned themselves towards the Tarsonis ship, firing their main guns, the dreaded Gravitic Neutron cannon. Yellow beams of destruction lanced out through the void, annihilating random particles and atoms as it crossed. These beams had destroyed entire Imperial Star Destroyers in single blasts, and would work to great efficacy on the Tarsonians as well. Secondary weapons were, at the time, focused on destroying mines on wide-beam mode, with the fusion beam 'whips' scattering the power of fusion reactions across massive areas of the Lyonite minefield. The Mor`shin, having few weapons of her own, launched her payload of 150 Nial and 30 Hel`zha fighter craft, forming a fighter screen in front of the carrier. The particles in the Shield converted the engergy cannon blast into energy to power the shields thus recharging them and the feedback inhibiter released excess energy into space.

The 3 beam cannons fired with a resounding blast, and the 16 rail guns followed suit sending a barage of oridanance at the attacking ships.

Wraiths straifed out to engage enemy fighters.

The horsemen shifted their fighters into mobile suit mode and blasted with their beam cannons and hacked with their beam sabors mounted on their left arm.

you know i get into the same argument all the time. Here let me say how my shield system works. (oh and btw the tech is for sale). I use particle shields, like in startrek. But ive added this cool knew nifty feature. The way a particle shield works is it surrounds the ship with a bunch of particles, when attacked the particles swarm to that spot, to absorb the blast. The generator of this type of shield, gets drained by the movement of the particles and then cant hold the particles together, thus weakening the shield and ultimatly leading to the death of the ship. However the particles i use are engineered. They convert energy weapons, beam cannons, neutron cannons, etc, into the energy that powers the shield generator. The energy is then absorbed and recharges the shield generator keeping up an infinate cycle. But thats only with energy weapons. Projectiles such as rail guns, and missles. that impact and dont explode, weaken the shields with out a regeneration. which is why i also carry 2 back up generators, so a ship can essentially hold out on its own until back up arrives.

NOte: this shielding is only on starships. Fighters dont have shields.

you hit with mutible strikes yes, but all on one side. and not ALL the particles rush into the spot, just particles close to the blast. the rest stay where they are to protect from other sides. thats not really their problem, their problem is i came up with extremely useful technology. theyve probably never lost. Sometimes attacks down cause damage because of Technology the opponent has. LIke say a missle barrage. Well opponent has missle intercepting system that is very effective and destroys the whole barrage. "NO THATS GOD MOD! YOU HAVE TO ATLEAST BE HIT BY ONE!!" Woosh wip fing bam! The hole in the minefield was enough for the entire fleet to go through. Granted Harrison was a few lightyears away but still! He could command his fleet with pride. If anything he had an Admiral on the flagship incase he died. Harrison took a look through the viewscreen, a foreign planet that he was about to destroy. From your description of your shielding, I see a few possible weaknesses. First, you say the particles gather to meet and absorb incoming fire. This should leave thin spots, or even holes, where they came from. Second, the rate of conversion is clearly not infinite, or they would not need to gather. Enough sheer power should overwhelm the shield's capacity to deal with the energy.
