OOC: I need someone else to RP the Communist Chinese forces. Basically, they have a strong defensive position and well-equipped but few troops, whereas I have loads of infantry, supported by aircraft.

IC: Chang Hseuh-liang, the Chief of the Army, had arrived to command the 7th Jun south of Pingliang in this critical operation. His troops had been ordered under threat of execution to use non-violent action whenever possible, as their enemy were also fellow Chinese. Aircraft hoped to make breaches in the enemy defences, allowing our battle hardened but ill-equipped troops to break through and defeat the enemy troops. After the breakthrough and capture of Pingliang, the other defencinve lines would be useless as our troops came up behind to attack Xiunyang and, finally, the capital of Yan'an.

The troops waited just below a hill top opposite the enemy line. They waited for the bombers to strike...

Telegram to Shanxi:
We request aid from your armed forces in this operation.

IC: The bombs landed on the line, blowing open bunkers and opening holes in the wire and the wall. The soldiers charged, wave after wave. Most got cut down by machine gun, but a few managed to break through and cause damage before they were inevitably killed. While the Nationalist forces were sustaining heavy losses, it seemed like their plan was working.

OOC: I'm getting tired of waiting for a Communist China player, would people mind if I just RPed them myself? I'm not planning on godmoding or anything so its all okay.

OOC: RP them yourself.

Telegram to Nationalist China:
We can send 2 divisions lead by General Xin-Yung. That is all. Where do you want them?

Telegram to Shanxi:

We wish them to hold position north of Yan'an, until we break through the Communist defences there, at which point they may come throuh and help us in the capture of Xiunyang.

Finally, a large breakthrough occured. The soldiers struggled past the bodies of their friends, through the enemy line, and captured a bunker. With this, a large scale breach opened, and the remainder of the army poured through. The Pingliang line had begun to fall, but at a heavy cost: thousands of bodies lay dead here alone, while along the rest of the line, many were still dying.

We have asked Nationalist China to give up there plans against Communist China and resort to cooperation with them against the invader. But it seems our words have been forgotten, Nationalist bombers have attacked the communist line while Nationalist China told us it would avoid bloodshed.

It is clear that we can not trust Chiang Kai Shek and only our armies may convince him. Thus we will take action as we promissed, Nationalist China will be driven back, with or without the help of the Japanese.

Japan too, will be a target of our forces as it pushed the Nationalists into a war with Mao, their Manchurian puppet will fall and become a communist republic with Russian advisors and equipment.

OOC: Before someone accuses me of godmoding, these are threats, not actualities.

Telegram to the USSR:

Do not launch into this action. It will only ignite the East into unison against the Soviet invaders. You cannot hope to defeat both the Japanese and Chinese armies. We have avoided much bloodshed, as we stated. We have only bombed military installations, and our bombing killed few, mostly damaging the infrastructure. Our forces have currently taken more prisoners than enemies killed, with Communist cowards giving up after barely a scratch. Shanxi has already begun a defensive line, and our troops can reinforce them within a week. They are already positioned along the border of Manchuria. Feel free to assault us, but you know as well as I that your entire army, let alone your Eastern one, is not prepared and are weak. Do not forget your defeat by the Japanese only a few decades ago. It can be done again, with our aid this time. Withdraw, or we will crush you.

Pingliang had fallen. Now the Shanxi troops were requested, to start a double sided attack on Yan'an. As many civilians as possible have been evacuated from the war zone by the police brigades of the 7th Jun. The Communists, with their line broken, were expected to fall in at least a month, maybe less. However, thousands had died. The Operation had been a military blunder, with the death toll far greater than expected. The worst part was that the deaths were unnecessary. With a revised plan, attacking weak points, and better leadership, the death toll could have been halved, and it would have been a triumphant victory. For his failure to achieve this, Field Marshal Chang Hseuh-liang, the Chief of the Army, was due to be executed. While his death cannot make up for the lives lost, both Communist and Nationalist, it does signify our regret for this.

The Communist stronghold had been broken. With the fall of their defensive line in Pingliang, it was not long until the rest of their provinces were mopped up, now defenseless against the vast Nationalist armies. The official defeat of the Communists was announced, and parades were taking place throughout the nation, the largest and grandest in Nanjing. Chaing made an official statement regarding the victory and impending execution of Chang Hseuh-liang. For a brief time, there would be peace in China.
