RPers needed!

Are you going to crush the threat of militant unionism? Or will you support worker rights and the socialist ideal?

These requests for RPers come entirely from the Strikebreakers RP.
Please contact the nation in question regarding the roles, unless otherwise instructed.

Central Thread

Praetonia wants an RPer for:
Colonial Workers' General Union - although this sounds rather government and official, it isnt. The Union has around 235,800,000 members, ie most of the workers in the colony. Most mines and industry are in a constant state of Cold War with the Unions, which are implicated and strongly suspected in failed Republican plots and they're very close to the Republican movement (which is supported in one way or another by a large minority of about 30% of the population). Republican organisations are illegal in the Colonies, but there is no solid proof and most people in the government think it would be too dangerous to try to close down the CWGU anyway.

Now, in the RP this Cold War is going to come to a fore. The Union is going to stage general strikes across the region that will seriously mess up the SP economy and have after-shocks that will affect the Praetonian economy and the economies of all nations that buy Praetonian steel ( 2 or 3, I think - I'll dig up the thread). Im not yet sure how to government will react, but that depends on how whoever plays this Union wants to play his/her hand. It is completely possible that this will turn into a Republican attempted coup / Colonial civil war, which depending on the circumstances Praetonia is in they will probably lose, although this isnt set in stone.

Aust wants someone to RP:
"The National Commerce and White Collar Workers Association."
It is Aust's intention to role play his government trying to break the NCWCWA.

Upper Xen wants someone to RP:
"The Xenizen Workers of the World"
Which will come into conflict with the rightwing "Free Labour Association".
The Xenizen Workers of the World-
Ultra Radical, this group, inspired by "Big Bill" Haywood's IWW and formed in 1921 and sponsored by Moscow during the Cold War, is way more radical than their inspiration. It was once even classified as a "terrorist" group for its occasional use of violence in meeting its goals. Openly Communist and embracing all workers (even students!), it stages May Day rallies and embraces a highly political agenda of class warfare. Commanding 600,000 only, it is infamous for sitdown strikes, "dirty" protests, occupation of buildings at Universities and workplaces, even acts of arson and assasination. The group has even turned on its own; several whistleblowers were reportedly executed by the organization in a reputed revenge killing. Rosa L. Fujimoto reportedly spent time in this union, organizing students in a massive protest march in 1996.
Xenizen Free Labor Association-
Fromed in 1904 as the Xenizen Labor Federation, the XFLA adopted its name in 1950 to differentiate itself from the rising tide of Socialist inspired unions. It is made up of the United Steel and Auto Workers of Upper Xen (formed after the American UAW and United Steelworkers, they merged in the late 1940's), the United Tool And Die of Upper Xen (power tools union, formed in 1930's), the Transportation Union of Upper Xen (started as the Xenizen Railway Union in 1879, organizes the air and land shipping industries). It is conservative, and anti-Communist, and has had corruption scandals in the past. However, it is also an active organizer, and an active political body, having won important rights in the past. It commands 4,000,000-6,000,000+ workers, a testament to its massive support base, and was instrumental in denying several major airports and rail hubs to the Reds in the recent Civil War.

The Burnsian Desert needs someone to RP:
"United Transportation Assembly Professionals"
Again this will be conspired against by governments/businesses.

If you are interested in RPing your own government/corporations and require union RPer to RP crushing please also post here.

I'd love to join, but unfortunately my time doesn't permit right now... :( However, if it's still possible to join in June, it would be fun to RP. I'm quite new to it and unfortunately can't make a long-term commitment right now.

Sounds fun. I'll play the Colonial Workers' General Union. So, what do I do?

I think you need more experience before taking on that role.

The National Commerce and White Collar Workers Association might be easier to start with; or the United Transportation Assembly Professionals.

If you would like one of these roles also TG the associated nation; they have the final say.
