All sale ships added. Let the buying begin and the buyer beware!

OOC: I'm no expert on FT, but $800 million seems AWFULLY cheap for the Commonwealth Aggressor-class warship. I would say you'd need to increase the price by at least 50 TIMES the amount you're charging. Check out the link to Saugerties Space Works in my signature for an idea of a more reasonable price range for your ships.

OOC: The make and materials in these ships are very 'cut-rate'. The Navigators are an avaricious race that don't care about quality or safety. The Merchants Guild priced them to simply make as much profit as possible from a 'fair' product. Think of the Aggressor as the 'Hyundai' of space cruisers.............

Having said that, I would advise that purchasers take that into account when purchasing these ships ;)

Compared to the Dyan-XD and the Voltaug that the engineers build specifically for Commonwealth forces, these are noticeably inferior.

Incidentally the MOBAT and Tasker are the best values, the others will suffer from cut rate production standards when actually used in combat.

OOC: That said, you're still losing a lot of money per ship built even if you use the most slipshod workmanship and slaves to build these. The cost of excavating, refining, welding, assembling, etc. the metals just to build hulls is expensive. I haven't even mentioned the cost of engines, equipment or other costs associated with getting even a low-quality ship into space.

Believe me, I understand the concept behind import versions vs. domestic versions, but you may find a problem with FT players accepting this as is.

OOC: How do you feel the prices are on the others? I think in light of your info I will increase the Aggressor's cost.

Aggressor price adjusted.

OOC: I edited my first post on this thread because I realized that I misswrote in terms of how much more you should charge for the Commonwealth Aggressor. Here (http://s6.invisionfree.com/International_Mall/index.php?showtopic=1051&hl=) is a range you can look at with the ships in my storefront.

That should give you some idea of what you should charge for your ships.

OOC: Final pricing analysis:

I have decided to keep the prices for Navigator ships as is. There are several reasons for this, which I will now explain.

First, when selling my ships I intend to use the NSEconomy calculator on ThirdGeek. The way it calculates national economies (I am guessing) is based on 2005 world economies and economic models. This basically would make it impossible for ANY NS nation to build, buy, sell or trade ships that are in the 30-40 billion dollar range. While I realize that stellar nations SHOULD have hundreds of times the resources from single terrestrial based nation, there is no tool that I can use to calculate and verify a space faring nations real economic strength and assets.

Second, in using ThirdGeek, it is important that we look at what prices a nation could likely sustain in real dollars as far as 'ships' go. In NS , depending on what type of nation is rp'ed (future tech, current tech, etc.) 'ships' could be airships, naval ships, wooden masted sailing ships, space ships etc. and the only impartial way to decide whether a nation can afford to build, buy or maintain a ship of whatever type is appropriate. A modern tech naval cruiser that costs 1 billion USD on todays market, also costs millions of USD a year to outfit and maintain, since ThirdGeek is calculating for current economies, I felt it best to try and set prices in line with what a modern nation could afford to build and maintain for my ships.

While in the future spacefaring nations may well be spendind 100 billion USD to build and maintain ships, I'm simply not comfortable attempting to extrapolating ThirdGeek's economic model into the future and arbitrarily assigning what I believe a future space faring nation can afford. To make it easier on myself, and on purchasers I will simply use ThirdGeek's economic model as a guide and price accordingly.

Incidentally using ThirdGeek as a guide, Sarzonia with it's 17 trillion USD defence budget would only be able to afford to buy and maintain a space fleet of only about 20 ships at the prices suggested by Al-Imvadjah, not very realistic. With my pricing, a nation can easily use ThirdGeek's calculator and plan a purchasing plan that will give them 100+ ships for their stellar nation, the future equivalent of a navy like that of the United States.

I'm just trying to find some parity with the tools afforded by NS, as well as way where I can sort out what people can afford to buy from me. It could get very sticky to RP every purchase or transaction, so using ThirdGeek's calculator is fair for all.

OOC: Well that makes sense at least. Again, I'm no FT expert, but that's just what I had heard from the FT people I'd been talking with when I was pondering a jump to FT.

I think if you can explain what you're doing logically and the explanation makes sense, I'll go along with it. Besides, I'd rather have a larger space force than a smaller one. :p
