First time I've started a thread, but here goes.
Having seen a couple of other factbooks and overviews, I've made one of my state- Idica (in Sparta).

Unnatural Hazards: Radioactive meltdown, nuclear tests, pollution.

Religious makeup: Idican, the state-sponsored religion: 100%, although all religious icons are banned from public places.
Languages spoken: English 98%, Latin 1%, L337 1%

Major industries: Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Information Technology industries
Natural Resources: Uranium, oil, diamonds.
Military Statistics:
Soldiers: An extensive military buget and loose ethical guidelines mean that most career soldiers are chemically enhanced. Consctiption is in place for 2 years for all males who decide not to go to University at 18. Only males are allowed as front line soldiers, although there are many female pilots and secondary staff.

All troops have a full-face Kevlar/titanium helmet (with gas mask, HUD and radio) and body armour. Heavy weapons troopers often have more comprehensive armour, and spec ops often use experimental armours.
War in Idica:
Idica's preferred method of war is to carpet-bomb and nuke the enemy into the ground, and send ground forces in to mop up the rest. Although it has been in few actual conflicts, frequent public unrest results in the army being called up to randomly shoot civilians. You'd be surprised how fast a crowd disperses when faced with a few tanks and troops with 25mm rifles.
Current research projects:
Much funding in Idica is currently being poured into Nuclear sciences, Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, High energy weapons and Space travel. The space program has already placed many surveilence satellites into orbit, and even a "star wars" missile defense system.
A brief history of Idica:
Idica is a new and quickly growing country taken from small amounts of land from surrounding, weaker nations. The government was installed a few decades ago and is booming. The pro-business government is concerned with anybody wealthy, public order, and scientific advancement; often at the cost of quality of life of the normal citizens.
